Power off option does not appear to be working

Hi. I recently noticed a hit on my battery life and noticed also that, as of late, my device will turn off the back light, but will not power down after the specified interval set forth on the power option in the Settings menu. I can still see the screen under a lamp. If I press the power button, it will go off. I'm figuring there is a registry setting that has gone awry, but I don't know where to check. I'm trying to re-establish my previous settings which got great standby times. I recently installed pRSS Reader, but switched the Today Plug-in from constantly rotating headlines to a non-cycling briefing of new feeds and unread feeds. I was wondering if anyone could help me isolate and fix this problem. Thanks.
I thought I had this problem licked recently, but unfortunately, it's back. I'm not certain what is actually causing the problem because I can't find an identifiable pattern that precipitates the inability to go to standby mode. The backlight isn't the problem so I'm figuring it's the power option. The power option isn't changed, it just won't work. It will start working normally again after a reset, but if I don't have a pattern, I won't know that it is happening until my battery life takes a rapid hit.
Thanks for any thoughts / help.

Seems like your phone can't go to standby because of it is actually heavvy working with loading and showing feeds on the today screen.
If it is not too much work: uninstall the plugin(s), restart the device and see if that solves the problem.

How do you keep Wi-FI On the SNAP?

I am trying to keep the Wi-FI on ALL THE TIME on the snap but it seems like it's disconnecting itself? Everytime this happens the windows live stops signing in and you have to switch windows live ID and log in again. It's a pain in the ass anyone else have a snap know how to keep wi-fi always on?
I went to the wifi power mode and I unchecked the "Auto turn off WLAN if no WLAN or user activities after LCD OFF over" I put power save mode to best battery. I want to be signed in overnight and not get booted?
bro
go to wlan setting
power mode and remove auto turn off tik.....
I changed battery to auto and it seemed to work.
The only problem now is windows messenger if there is a sudden disconnect from wifi, You have to re sync and sign in or else you get stuck on endless login screen.
ok good
sometime windoslive not working
idont why!!!just by wirless!!
Yes if WI-FI Disconnects you, and your msn logs off you need to restart device or Go to Windows Live>Menu>Account Options>Switch Account and log in again and it will work, It's a pain, but it's the only way I figured it out to work.
And with WiFi always on with Windows Live signed in your battery life is? Let me guess: 6 hours.
Thanks you all I had the same WLAN problem, I'll try to use these solutions.

[Q] problems when rebooting

dear members of XDA-developers.
i have a question to ask, when i install a new application on my htc HD2, the system tells me that is needs to reboot the phone so i can see the changes.
when i try to reboot, i only get the white screen with the green HTC logo, and it stays there. and the only way to get it to boot back on, is to take away the battery, wait for a few minutes and then try again.
by the way, soft reset did not solve it. can anyone help me please. thank you
What application did you install as this would be helpful to know. It might be s known application that does not play so nice with the HD2.
i installed 4 apps.
and every time it's the same problem
i installed the shortcut for wifi toggle

Ok do this unindtall all of the apps you listed and reinstall them one at a time and soft reset it after each one until you get the issue back. When the issue has returned whatever app you had just instlled iswhat is giving you the problem. I recomd not using this app and trying to find another app that will do the same function.I also recomend you just place a quick link to the Comm Manager on your Home screen as this will adress hour WiFi toggle wants just have one more touch to acheive this is all. Install Touch Tools and it allows you to intergrate the boot option screen to your end key so all house have to do is hold down the end button and it will give house a screen to power off, soft reset, enter bootloader, hard reset, suspend, and did onnect data. you can also place a quick link to your bluetooth on your Homens screen.

Password Screen

Hi all, I know how this may sound but please bear with me. Basically, I was really tired with a headache last night, I went to sleep with my phone next to me on the bed with pocket player up on the screen. There is a bug with the Xperia X1s that if you don't hack a reg key then the screen will stay active all the time it is connected to a charger. I also had a couple of reminders I've been keeping going that potentially came up on the screen as well. In the past I've found sometimes if I don't lock the screen (with a slide lock app) it'll go into some menus, I've taken it out of my pocket a few times only to see it asking me to confirm my new clock settings.
This morning, I got up, picked up the phone to go into Power Radio and found it saying 'Enter your password and tap "Unlock"'.
And I have no idea where to go from here. Unless there is some default, it must have set a random password from screentaps while I was in bed. I tried to brute force it - but no success. I haven't soft reset the phone since it started since I at least have Pocket Player going and it's set to control all buttons so I can play the mp3s I have on my list while I bike in to work.
I don't think I had anything important saved to memory, but I have tons of appointments added to the Calendar and my last PIM backup was sadly over a month ago. It is currently set to USB Mass Storage Mode and not USB Sync.
Is there any way at all I can at least get off the Appointments? After that I'm perfectly willing to hard reset if the need be - any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I'm running a custom Windows Mobile 6.5.3 ROM (twinge 1.10) on my Xperia X1.
Thanks very much,
Peter
Thanks to anyone who might have replied - it's fixed now though . I finally decided I needed to reset the device since the system volume wasn't where I needed it to be to use it on the ride - I thought I could restart a couple of times and get into Safe Mode and maybe turn off the Password there - but after the regular soft reset boot there was no suggestion of a Password. Made my backups (fortunate since I didn't relealize my pics were saved in memory) and checked, but nothing was checked. No idea why it suddenly decided I had a pass but it's gone now so it's all good .
Thnx,
Peter

Wi-Fi won't turn on after phone sleeps, sometimes

Hi!
My n9005 works perfectly fine, but SOMETIMES in standby when I wake the phone up, I notice Wi-Fi is turned off, while it previous it was on.
When I try to move the knob thing to turn on Wi-Fi it just does the animation and stays like it's trying to turn it on, but doesn't.
I have to restart the phone every time to make Wi-Fi work again.
This doesn't happen a lot of the time, but it's annoying.
Is this a common thing? What could I do to fix it?
Thank you for your time.
Open wifi menu and go to option.
then go to advanced, there is and option "keep wifi on during sleep". Make sure it says "always on"
The problem isn't that.
That's how it is by default.
I would be able to turn wifi on after it turned off if that was the problem.
In my case I need to restart the phone to be able to.

I did a factory reset and Odin flash of the same exact ROM that I had by downloading from Sammobile.
The problem is so random and seems to only happen when the phone sleeps or is charging. Sometimes it works for a few days, sometimes it will happen, no WiFi until a restart.
EDIT:
Maybe I should download another ROM from sammobile and try that?
Does that trip Knox?
I have a [Austria (T-Mobile) MAX] ROM (PDA:N9005XXUGBOK6
CSC:N9005MAXGBOK1) atm, I bought the Note 3 used and it had that. But I live in Serbia, maybe I should try the Serbian one in example for my carrier?
The WiFi problem is just annoying at most, it doesn't happen often, but I shouldn't have to restart the phone to have WiFi.
As its an old old problem google it .

JJEgan has disabled private messages, so I can't really contact him on a solution or what he meant.
For anyone interested, I solved my problem on my own.
Enter *#0011#, press menu key, tap on WiFi tab, tap on the power saving button so it's off.
I didn't experience the same issue ever again.
