I was under the impression that dj05 would fix the issue with the phone not defaulting to its mic when using a patch cable or headphones with no mic.. It would be great to have fixed.. I like to listen to pandora in my car.. And like to be able to answer a call when it comes in and talk over the car stereo.. But until this is fixed I need to unplug when talking..

Not everybody has bluetooth stereo capabilities in their car but even a car with a tape deck can be used with a 3.5mm jack.
I was under impression that it was fixed. At least I was able to talk on the phone with headphones plugged in. Cannot confirm because I on DI01 right now.
Nope... Thx tho

I'm Running dj05 voodoo kernel, and I use my headphones and a stereo mini plug for my car, and when a call comes in, I can answer and talk into my phone mic, them when the call ends the music continues. I assumed it was dj05 that corrected this issue. I love being able to do this.
Strange...
May it depend on the phones somehow?
I'm pretty confident that it worked for me on DJ05 stock and geeknik stupidfast, because it was one of the annoyances I hated. Then I exchanged my phone because of USB problem and stuck with stock waiting for official update today :-(

I know for a fact it didn't work on di01, so if it is varied from phone to phone, its also firmware dependant.
i never said it was DI01. By stock i meant Dj05 Tom provided by adrynalyne.

This is not samsung's software problem. They deliberately decided to switch up the 3.5mm jack to make it different from Apple's products. Certain cables will work, some will not. Most likely, it won't T T.. DAMN SAMSUNG!!!!! (TRRS switch)
No one has confirmed a software can change whether or not the jack can be read differently.
Are there any devs looking into this?

Just tested this with DL09(the leaked version that's been stripped of bloat) and the problem has been fixed. I used JVC Gummies and my friend had no problems hearing me.

I assume that it was bug in soft, preventing sensing jack without mic.

hey guys i just down loaded the new update i will mess with it for a while and report back...
Just downloaded and installed it on my stock evo so I have no idea if it breaks root or not. For the other poster that asked I'm located in the Chicago land area.
i think it will break root...the update has a new radio 2.05.00.06.10
I think some people can't see the update because of the custom Rom.... some cooks disable FOTA in the pst... you can go to QPST an reenable it... if you don't know what those things are... um, ppcgeeks is the site for you

I am using the unrevoked root method and apparently this OTA breaks my root and wireless tethering...
I've rooted mine with Toasts method, and the phone will download the update try to install it, fail, and reboot the way it previously was...no harm no foul I guess...just gotta wait for someone to figure out a way to apply the updates to rooted phones.

it's because unrevoked didn't really root anything, it just exploited a flaw in the system which was patched

The touch input lag isn't as big for me as the grounding problem, but I want to know how the hell they fixed it with software.
So if I had unrEVOked and apply the OTA, it blocks the access that allows for wifi tethering? That's the only feature I really care about.
Their twitter (@unrevoked) seems to indicate they'll have something out tonight. If that's the case, I'd rather just update my phone and re-run the unrEVOked .apk.
Does anyone see any potential issues to this?

Agreed... glad to see they are jumping right on it... I prefer the unrEVOked exploit at the moment over full root but its just because I am Android noob and haven't had time to really look into full root....
I know its one-click easy now but I want to learn all ways for the knowledge before I start hacking...
And... until froyo is fully working I see no immediate need since I am still playing with Android for the first time and learning the lay of the land

I agree with you, I'm an Android Noob myself, and it has all the apps and features I need it to do except for free wi-fi tethering. I'm running the OTA right now and almost done. All the other benefits are more important right now than free wi-fi tether.
This screen is so huge I almost don't need a laptop... at least definitely not a laptop to get online wherever I need to be right now. Maybe later when traveling, but not anytime soon.

When listening through any amplified speakers, be it car speakers or desktop speakers, it would act fine for a while recognizing them as headphones. It would then wig out thinking it was a headset, with mic, and pop up the voice input and start skipping songs and shuffling through them. It's something I was able to find a number of other Evo owners had issues with.
I don't see many people calling this one out but it's a particularly annoying bug if you have it. The USB Connected message comes one even when you have no plug in. The message cycles on and off continuously. You cannot reboot the phone without a USB powered connection unless you pull your battery.
Has anyone heard if Verizon/Samsung is working on a fix for us? I've been over at the Vibrant forum and they have this issue too but it has been fixed for them in an update they received called JI6.

I'm not sure because although there are some reports of it on the Fascinate, it seems far more common on the Samsung Vibrant. Enough so, that they issued a software fix for it. Check out this thread for more details.
So, on one hand, I do see a few people mentioning this in Fascinate forums, I would think it would be more mentioned than it is if it were a common problem. I might have to treat this like a warranty issue.
Do I have to unroot and restore stock items if I take the phone in for warranty?

DJ05 works, not something that resets your GPS values.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
I saw a comment on the article that it could be Samsung planning an update that requires the default settings for GPS to work properly. Why they wouldn't just have the update reset the data is beyond me, but it's a possibility. I'll just stick with DJ05.
I have to agree about DJ05. Incredible improvement. If I put my Fascinate in my windshield mount and start the GPS, it's locked on, and giving me directions by the time I back out of the driveway.
Have to third dj05. Gps is now spot on. I get a 15 second lock every time. Also get twice as many sats to lock in now than I did with di01.

the logic problem with this is that if Samsung (who I strongly suspect knows about the leak) really wanted to find the leaker they could just as easily as any one else go to the IRC and obtain it. Not trying to be obtuse but are we really protecting the leaker by talking about, alluding to how to get it but simply not posting it ? I doubt it.

The primary reason that it's not posted here is that the update may never be an official update. Since there is a risk in updating to DJ05, as well as going back to DI01, it's better to keep it where it currently is until the update is official or something else that is newer/better comes out.

And I'm not seeing a link to the downloadable file in yours. Adrynalyne your Omnia ROM is still on the phone in the old phone drawer and I have the greatest respect for the work all the devs do. I wish I had the skills and time. I am capable of understanding the risks involved in modding my phone and consider them in every instance.
The dj05 leak is not readily available, the reason that has been most often offered is that the leaker will be put in jeopardy if it is. I don't agree with that logic. That is the only relevance I was hoping for.

considering what sprints up to with their base stations, customer service improvements, and the fact that even when i worked for em 3-4 years ago, they were always updating their rms/rms+/fast/snap/fdt systems, i can't say i'm too surprised.
the leg up they go for on the other companies afterall is trying to be the first to the gate with tech.
anything our system info can tell, i'm sure they can see. kernel/rom/etc. i doubt they'd act on it unless its a store visit though. or i'd hope not anyways. it'd be strange and surprising to see the company thats the easiest on the rom community(they're the only ones who kept their mouth shut about wireless tether so far, and the easiest with 3rd party apps from the beginning) to turn on them.

They knew on my wifes Intercept two weeks ago and the tech support just asked if rom I was using was better than stock. I said yes, and he said that it s the only way to get that phone to function properly. He then took care of my issue as if it was a "non-rooted" phone.
I had my external speaker go out and took it up to the Sprint store to get the speaker replaced. The tech asked me if I rooted it, but he didn't have a problem with that.
The problem I had was that replacing the speaker screwed up the phone somehow so I had to re-flash. Meaning it wouldn't boot properly. But that is another story.

I could care less about the Intercept...that damn thing can burn in a pit...which may actually help it function better than it currently does.
Not sure if they have a system or not, but I laughed that the dude knew the only way it works is with a custom ROM. I have Ubentdroid on it and at least the capacitive buttons work now.
If you can't tell, I would not recommend the Intercept. It sucks more than the suckiest suck that ever sucked.

Sometimes its an issue that isnt a biggie, so unroot is a waste of time. With my wifes, it was that her phone stopped being recognized on Sprint service. It ended up being an account screw up.
Well this is simple, we can just create a flashable zip to simply change the baseband to display the stock one.
(Haven't done any rom developement, so I don't know where that file lies.)

EXACTLY! why take a chance? especially if you have lost/stolen protection, you don't want to give them a reason to screw you over. good to know they can figure it out over the phone as well tho. hopefully they stay content letting people root away w/ no consequence except for a voided warranty, considering all the reasons they give customers for rooting (CIQ, DRM, ect...)

This sounds like your device might have some hardware issue with the earphone jack.
Regarding this 'update', the most recent update is the MF3 build OTA update. You should have this by now, if you don't, be careful. You can update to it but if your phone is rooted or you plan to root - you need to search the threads of maintaining or gaining root access. The MF3 OTA update did a number on some people when it relocked bootloaders.
You can attempt to find this via Kies or you carrier.
