720p HD Video Recording Problems? - myTouch 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Well I'm using eViL's Desire Z ROM and when I clicked on the 720p HD video recording option the screen starting to freak out, sliding. Fortunately I can still change it back to the default 800x480.
Is this a problem with just the Desire Z ROM or is it a problem with all the ROMS cause I heard they were having camera problems (the reason as to why development was delayed)

Please post questions in Q&A section.

[Q] Few questions about desire HD before purchase

well i currently have a desire SLCD version and i really love it, however yest i got a pretty awesome offer which will allow me to jump to Desire HD free of charge
i tried the device myself for few minutes, i found it beautiful but having read some reviews i have some concerns
few reviews mentioned unlike the classic desire the Desire HD have problems playing back 720p videos even mp4 ones, this essential for me since i have my portfolio already encoded in 720p mp4 and runs perfect on my desire and don't want any stutter when i present it (Ad agency people will jump n say get an iphone you loser)
did anyone test the SD card speed with the desire HD? the classic froyo desire had a software issue with the SD card read ahead speed which was solved by patching the kernel, is this related to the video playback issue on the desire HD?
my second issue, reviews mentioned heavy digital processing in the camera produced photos, the desire had the same issue but i used to simply lower sharpness to -2 and the digital processing gets turned off (noise blur and then oversharpness) hence i was able to get beautiful almost analog like photos using the standard HTC camera app, do we have a similar negative sharpness setting in the desire HD camera and does it disable the image processing?
thanks for all the help
.mp4 files play very well even in 720p. It's the bitrate that might give you some trouble, but any reasonable setting (it's 4.3" after all) plays very smooth. Add the DLNA clent and you get an awesome player.

[Q] qik video chat

I'm deciding weither to get the MT4G or wait for the Desire HD and I had 1 question. I know you can't video chat with the Desire HD but can you receive video chats via qik or any other programs? It seems the only feature missing on the Desire HD is the front facing camera, other than that it seems the Desire HD community is a lot more happening. Thanks!
There is no network video chat with froyo. Rumours say it will be enabled with gingerbread.
You can however video chat with fring.... so I presume other apps would allow it to.

[Q] 720p Recording

Ok heres the big question, and yes THIS THREAD WILL BE DELETED ONCE MY QUESTION IS ANSWERED.
The other threads are old and don't have clear answers, soo I would like to know if anyone is working on 720p recording for any HD2 android, has there been any progress? or will HD2 android ever get 720p recording?
Thanks to people who answer this question
Not yet.
Look here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=834010&highlight=720p
AFAIK Windows Phone 7 on HD2 does 720p video recording, that means hardware is capable and android should get the capability soon.
Yes its coming! i'm sure
just be patient!
ill give it 2 months at the max
YES YES YES
no realley.. yes.
the progress is that the wp7s rom has 720p recording SO the hardware is capable
but... there aren't any drivers for android
be patient developers are building drivers for it!
and thats not easy i think :S
Thanks for the quick replys guys, XDA is awsome for getting questions answered
Is this old because I'm using a nand Rom which support it that is gingerbread based........... or am I miss understanding? I recorded a video and checked its property and it was 720 and something will report back with more details and exact rom

@ vtruth
A lot of roms have the option to record in 720p, however, the result is a video of, i think, a mostly green screen. Either way, it is a video with no semblance of what was recorded.
odds are the res values where mixed and its 480x720

Gingerbread HD Camera stretched

Hi everyone,
Currently I'm using Android Revolution HD 5.1.7 on my Desire HD (running Gingerbread)
I'm noticing that the camera app is stretching the screen of the video a little bit out in height when the resolution is set on HD (1280x720) and when I'm on 800x400 resolution, the stretching is gone.
The stretching itself is very subtle, so you won't notice it instantly.
Anyone else seeing this or is it just my device?
EDIT:
So on screen it looks different, but it seems the HD video (in 720p) is recorded correctly (if you watch it on PC).
Not a big issue, but quite annoying imo.
But is it my device only or does everyone running the official Gingerbread from HTC has it too?

[May-25][Q] Video recording issues on Cyanogen CM7.1 (Gingerbread 2.3.4)

Hi!
Iam having problems when recording HD quality video on Cyanogen CM7.1 (Gingerbread 2.3.4), the video becomes lagging and sluggish, but the audio works fine.
When I switch to a lower quality (High) the video recorder works fine.
When I switch to Windows OS, the video records fine with the best quality.
I first thought the problem was on the SD card, but if works on Windows perhaps its the Android version?
Just wanted to ask if someone else have this problem.
Also, Iam very new to android phones and would like to ask a quick question:
If I have HSPL 2.08, and would like to have another version of android (eg. 2.3.3 to SD card) do I just remove the currently android folder (2.3.4) and replace it with 2.3.3 android folder?
Thanks! =)
Can also add, that the recorded video ( in android ) that is HD quality is ~ 2mb for a couple of seconds, the same video recorded with the same time in the lesser quality ( called High) is ~4mb, it seems to be a loss in information, that seems to be the reason for the lossy/laggy video. Hmmmm
This is s common problem with all the Android roms, nobody can get the HD to work.
