Removing car panel SOLVED - Desire HD General

My dhd is rooted with s off.
I really want to uninstall the car panel app but can't find it in root manager or root explorer or adb list. Does anyone know the apk name and any other linked apk that works with it?
I'd really appreciate the help.

Anyone's help would be great. Thanks

You should go into root explorer, go to the system/app/, folder and it should be in there.
r0cky.Da.3v0.SU.

All the apps are there but I can't find the car panel apk. They might have named it something not obvious. Do you know the name of the apk? Thanks for getting back to me by the way.

Try to look for the apk that says panel
r0cky.Da.3v0.SU.

Nope, nothing there

Still no one who found it? I'm looking to get ridt of it too..

It is part of the locations app. If you want to get rid of it you must delete the entire locations suite.
If this is really what you want, delete all the files containing either "locations" or "laputa" in the file name from /system/app using root explorer.

Thanks for your help. Really appreciate it.

Droid X File Manager vs Astro

I was considering ditching my old stock Droid X "File Manager" app for Astro, but I'm hesitant to do so since the market doesn't have the generic stock one for me to redownload. I discussed this in another thread of mine and the guy that responded said with Titanium backup on my phone Astro is kind of useless. I'm not 100% sure of that. Any thoughts?

Just install Astro and if you don't like it delete it...It doesn't hurt to have both

I already installed Astro once and liked certain things about it, but the stock file manager has something called "Shared Folders". I was afraid that uninstalling it might mess up the "Media Share" app since Astro doesn't have that particular feature. Other than that I think Astro is more expansive and runs much more smoothly. Does uninstalling the stock file manager mess up Media Share?

Well I guess the OCD in me want my phone to be as "clean" as possible. I hate for apps I don't use to be running in the background and I hate running multiple apps that do the same thing (like "Social Networking" vs Tweetdeck"). Anyway, I appreciate your input. Thanks.

Uh freeze the apps with titanium backup, esp sys apps, then you don't have to worry about trying to reinstall them if they cause malfunctions...

Nevermind about Astro. I paid for "Root Explorer" last night and I'm pretty darn sure it's superior to any other file manager that I've seen. Also, I renamed the stock File Manager app to ".bak" by using Root Explorer, so now I don't have to worry about reinstalling it if I wanna use it again. I wish I'd done that with all the apps I've uninstalled in the past.... :-(

+1 for Root Explorer.
Root Explorer is by far the best with functionality. You can also get Explorer, which is the free version of it.
Root explorer is MILES ahead of all others hands down.

I just put root explorer on my wifes dinc and it is definitely the best one out there. I just hope she is careful with it lol

nothing better than root explorer
Need to give root explorer a look
Yeah man. Root Explorer = WIN
It makes the stock File Manager and Astro look useless. Lol.

Did you set the permissions correctly? I've only tried replacing the camera before but I wouldn't see why these apps wouldn't be the same

Didn't try that. But can someone make a flashable zip for the apps? That would make life easier.

.nomedia folder not working to hide pics?

I'm trying to hide some pictures from folders that I need from the Gallery app.. I used to do this by adding a ".nomedia"folder.. But since I got the galaxy s3 it doesn't seem to be working that way.. I can't delete the pictures or the apps won't work.. Does anybody have a fix for this.. Without downloading a application for it? Thanks for any help you can give me!

I used to use a folder.. But either way neither of them work (file/folder)
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
just add the .nomedia file to the folder.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
How are you adding the file? Maybe I can walk you through it... check you private messages if you need help still
After you add the .nomedia file, clear gallery cache, reboot, and see if the pictures are there.
I did... I have never had a problem doing this before.. Until the galaxy s3 its soo strange., I appreciate everyone's help thank you so much.. I just can't figure this out. I will post some screen shots

You could also try deleting those pictures. Then they're sure to not show up.

If I delete them then my clocks won't have images.. So I'd have to re download all my files.. Then I'd be in the same boat again

I just sent you a link in a private message with the nomedia file i created - maybe the one your creating has a permissions issue, so maybe if you download that one and put it in your directory, then clear the data and reboot it will fix your issue...
I had this problem too. Download hide it pro and you can set pics to not show in the gallery.

I think your problem is using myfiles to create the file - try using a different file explorer - i use root explorer but there are others ones like astro that should work, then clear the data and reboot....
If you look myfiles doesnt see my .nomedia file but root explorer does:

If you clear data it will not delete your photos, it will just make gallery rebuild its database of the files...
Why are you adverse to downloading an app to accomplish your goal? There are free apps that do what you need and with a lot less time and hassle.

Here's what my gallery looks like after using Hide It Pro- despite the name, its a free app. I've seen what you're talking about with the black boxes, the first app I tried did that.

Anyway to stop Google play music running?

Google play music is constantly running in the background but I never use it, anyway options to stop this? I'm unrooted

You can disable this s... application from apps manager. No root needed. BTW maybe someone will explain why such a piece of junk is packed to os and allowed to start on it's own while doing nothing useful.
settings /more/application manager

As others mention, either disable it or delete the APK file in system/apps using a file explorer
Sorted
Thanks people
