Can't t-mobile hd2 use roms for leo hd2?? - HD2 General

I'm about to buy hd2 but a shop only sells t-mobile hd2.
I'm wondering if I can use the roms for leo hd2.

You can use custom roms found here on XDA on a tmobile HD2.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App

you can use MOST custom roms on the tmous.
@OP the tmous will only take roms that are v 2.x or higher, so that means none of the non tmous stock roms (which include a deadly radio anyway) and no cooked roms that are based on 1.x base roms. Read the roms thread, they generally cleary say that they are tmous compatible, most are.

Oh , thank you for good information
Then, t-mobile one is faster than international one? since it has 1 gb rom and 512 mb ram

I flash whatever ROM I find.... Since the onces that are not cmopatible with th US Version would normally have something like this at the top of the post
DOES NOT WORK ON THE US HD2 or something...
So i'll avoid those.... But it helps to read the entire post, .50 radios are compatible. any other Radio version wont work...
Just a thought.... Most rom are just that...ROMs not a combination of (ROM/Radio) like the ones issued from T-Mobile and HTC
Edit: All the HTC HD2 / LEOs are the Similar in Speed.. The only major difference is the ROM(storage) Spaced Where as the US Version had 1G all the others only have 512MB

You forgot one major factor....
If you live in USA you'll most definitely want the T-Mobile edition anyway because the international version won't give you 3G/HSPA+. That's if you plan on purchasing the data plan.

T-Mobile US 3G/H requires the 1700/2100 Frequency

no, a bigger fuel tank doesn't make a car go faster,,,, morerom just means more storage, not more speed.

Anyone compared: Upgrade from euro version to T-Mobile?

I am debating giving my wife my euro version, as her cell just died (LG Cookie) and buying/unlocking a T-Mobile version for myself. Of course the first thing I'll do is HSPL 2.08, so the question is...
Will I notice a difference between the two in terms of call quality? My euro has the 576 RAM hack ROM installed, but I'll likely remove that since my wife could not possibly cafe less about it. Doe the T-Mobile's have improved call quality over the euro versions, as they actually support the extra RAM as stock?
Has anyone been able to do a side-by-side comparison first hand?
Thanks in advance for any insight.
One more thing:
Under normal circumstances, the T-Mobile version ships with 2.08 radio, which will not be affected if I flash a 2.10 based/TMOUS compatible ROM, correct? I mean, the ROM and Radio are separate flashes, and most cooked ROMs do not include Radios, so I'd be safe, generally speaking, correct? Don't want to brick the new one.
For clarity it would be a good idea to differentiate between the UK and US T-mobile models as I have a UK version and it would be pointless doing the comparision with an EU model. Wouldn't it?

you won't have 3G, if you don't live in the US, besides that there shouldn't be any differences.

the good thing about the t mobile version, is that it comes with a lot more internal memory then the euro , besides that is all the same .

if the send key is green, you have a tmous.
If it came from tmous, then its a tmous
If you have it working with 3g on tmo usa then it can ONLY be a tmous.
and there's only two models...the tmo us, and the euro version (less memory and a slight bit shorter than the tmo model...plus crucial differences in ROM compatibility).
The thread linked below is where you should really start....go through it at length, check out all the links. After you've done that, then make a list of questions you still haven't seen answers to, and come back and post any that are left

I'm a huge fan of Kumars 2.0 rom. Its excellent, super stable, and very fast. Plus he's working on new builds based off of the 2.13

Three actually. We can't forget the T9193 Telstra edition, which is identical to the European T8585 except for NextG branding and 850/2100MHz HSDPA.

2.10 was the original rom 2.13 is the updated version released on 5/13.

TMO HD2 vs HTC HD2; which one runs android better

I am planning to buy a HD2 just to run android on it. I have the option to buy TMob HD2 (bigger RAM and ROM) and the HTC HD2 (smaller RAM and ROM).
Am sure that almost all the Android ROMs work on both phones. I just want to know, which of these runs android better?
I really like Desire HD but its currently very expensive here (~US$ 710) and I don't want to spend that much. whereas HD2 (both Tmob and HTC) is available for ~US$ 435. So am thinking of buying HD2.

If you're from the US, you should get a TMO HD2 for sure, they're the only ones you'll have 3G possibilities with, and you have more internal memory. EDIT: That's assuming you have TMO as provider. If you don't, you won't get 3G on your TMO phone.
If you live outside the US, you'll need an HTC (well, they're both HTC of course) if you want 3G, but you can still use a TMO for everything but 3G if you really like to have that 512mb extra internal memory (not the best choice if you ask me).
If you're Australian, I'm not really sure what you should do because I think they have an even different version.

not sure where ur from , if your from ASIA T mob is the deal coz u get 3G!!, well u can actualy gte one on XDA for as low as 250$
If you are in the US and have ATT, get the Telstra/Australia version as it has support for ATT's 850mhz 3g band I think. Just depends on where you're located and what carrier you have. I would go with the version that I could receive 3g service on.
Get TMOUS HD2
I don't know what you guys are thinkin but all hd2's are tmobile in america. so if your from another country than this question is legit but if your in america all hd2's are htc and tmobile branded.

Yeah, but you can still order one from Australia, which will allow you to get 3g with at&t in USA.

thanks for the suggestions guys. I am from Pakistan and there is no 3G here. my only concern is the performance of both variants. with more RAM and ROM, does TMO HD2 perform better as compared to the HTC HD2 while using android?
For Australian HD2 be aware the "Next G" version is model 9193 ( 850 - 2100mhz), you can still get the 8585 model that has different frequencies that are 900Mhz - 2100mhz. This is not great for Australia as there is the Next G network from Telstra (works well everywhere with minimum 3G but H in metro) and the 3G network (3G in metro areas and normal edge network elsewhere).
You need to check which model you are getting as there has been an influx of 8585 models available on ebay.
I'm in the US and had the Euro version of the HD2 several months before getting my TMUS phone. I tried every Winmo ROM available on both, finding no discernable difference in performance. I can't address any potential performance differences in Android however as I sold my Euro phone prior to Android builds being introduced.

There will be no difference when running android. Only difference between phones is 3g radio and rom size. Rom size will give more storage space once android can be installed on rom, but there will be no difference in performance.

Help me decide in respect to HD2

Hi all, we are at a very exciting moment for the history of this excellent smartphone.
I own a HD2 European version (originally from Spanish Vodafone), and I was wondering if you think it is worth selling it and buying the T-Mous 1Gb ROM version instead.
I come to you, asking if I would have any problems (incompatibility issues) by using the US HD2 in Belgium or any other European country.
Is the additional 512mb ROM worth changing? I found out that I could probably buy the US version for the same price I would sell the European one.
As I am not sure about any potential problems that the US HD2 might have, that is why I request your input.
Thank you all in advance for all your help.
are u out of your mind
you want to change your hd2 with another damn hd2
and you are asking whether is it worth doing it or not
if u want to change your hd2 then go and buy another cool phone
like hd7 or nexus s or anything but hd2
are you really enjoing winmo 6.5 on hd2
or buggy android builds

Android builds work great on the HD2... and now we can run wp7 flawlessly. Soon we'll figure out a way to have both on our phones.
OP... since android builds most work now with apps2sd, having the extra 512mb rom isn't all that necessary. I would keep whatever HD2 gives you 3g reception in your area.

I think you did not understand what I was asking. I have an European version HD2, this means that I only have 512 Mb ROM instead of the 1Gb ROM that comes with the T-Mous one.
As said by zarathustrax, there is a possibility of running both WP7 and Android from NAND, but for that you need space and 512Mb won't cut it.
As for the 3g, is it true that the US version is not compatible with the European network?

You can still use it as a phone and get 2g speeds on data, but for 3g the tmobile US HD2 only uses 1700/2100 for 3g... I don't think any carriers in europe use those band for 3g. Thats why US users can't take a european HD2 and get 3g in US. Phones are quadband for gsm, but for 3g, they only have 2 bands each model... that's why there's 3 different models of HD2s for different parts of the world.
Also, if you do get the t-mobile US version, you would have to sim-unlock it also to use on a different carrier.

Thanks for the information, I have tanked you for this comment. I will keep my HD2 and find a way to partition the SD card in order to solve the problem and use both OS without needing to boot into one and run the other.

[Q] HD2 EU or TMOB ?

hey i wanna buy HD2 but i donnow if all the dev ( all the ROMS of android and WP7 ) for this phone supports the TMOB ver ?
ebay price of the HD2 EU its about 200$ +- for new
and price of the TMOB its 200$ +- for used ..
should i go for the TMOB or the EU ver ?
All Android and WP7 ROMs can be used on either the EU or the TMOUS HD2. But with the TMOUS you can not flash all Windows Mobile ROMs to it. If the Win Mo ROM has a radio version with a 51 in the third spot like this x.xx.51.xx then you can not flash it to a TMOUS or you will brick it. Also you can not flash a ROM with a radio version below 2.08.50.xx or it will brick a TMOUS.

I think you misunderstood, the TMOUS isn't really any more trouble than the EU one. Nobody uses WinMo now anyway, and if you have a TMOUS HD2 you should never have to change the radio. I think the EU is still a better deal (TMOUS only has 512mb extra storage) but I just thought that that should probably be clarified.

TMOB is better, because the new magldr will support two os in NAND,which need 1024 ROM space

That's the "new" magldr we've been hearing about for almost a year?
Please keep in mind HSDPA frequencies.
EU - 1700 / 2100
T-MO US - 900 / 2100
These may or may not matter, depending on where you live and your carrier.
