Hi everyone, I have a lot of scratches on my SGS, due to a case... So I just want to give advice, if you re willing to buy a case, make sure it s a branded one, it will cost you some money in advance but you ll be sure it isnt going to scratch!
now my question is where can I buy a set to replace the scratched surfaces?

Can you post a link to the case, so we can avoid that one?

go to www.htceurope.com and get their phone number and ask how much it would be to put a newlcd in. cant be that much surely, better than taking a huge monetary drop
if all fails, ill give you a tenner for it matey, jokes aside please find out how much it would be, you might be surprised

HTC won't repair XDA devices only orange and t-mob branded units - if you read liverpool's previous thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=40201&highlight=
I've already suggested a few routes :-(
Richard
Fluffcat; It is boxed everything there, 2 extra protective cases one of which is a hard case not a leather one and also screen protector.
I have already rang htc europe and they were no help. But i dont understand how the screen cracked it was in its leather case and didnt fall, took it out of my pocket and it was cracked.
But if anyone wants to make an offer ill think about it.
50$
i think $50 is a bit little.
Have you tried PPCTechs for a screen replacement? they seem to do it for 249 dollars
You could try sending it to a mate via royal mail, insure it for whatever value it will cost to replace, if the screen breaks on route it will be covered. Oh, sorry, just reread your post, didn't realise it was already broke
Regards
what would you sell it for? I'm looking at keeping it as a spare parts reserve for my universal
Cheers,
San
Ok How's this for a first post? Some moron managed to knock my 2 week old wizard off the desk while it was charging at work (so not in its case) and has cause a small chip in the screen (screen still works perfectly - just the outter touch panel is damaged). Since no one is owning up to doing it - and my short-sightedness in not taking out insurance on such an expensive phone, I wondered if anyone had any Idea how much T-Mobile would charge to fix this?
I'm assuming it is too late to take out insurance now, so I'm gonna have to shell out for the repair one way or the other - just wondered how much this will set me back.....
Any ideas? Cheers Guys
Oh and no flaming me please - I feel gutted enough as it is!!

You're saying to replace the screen will cost more than £300??
Sorry mate I'm not made of money - that is not a viable solution.

Hi,
Your house hold insurance should cover it. Either that or take out phone insurance and claim in a few months.
Thanks
B
I am not sure about T-Mobile, but o2 let you take insurance out in the first 2 weeks. Look on the web and if you are too late give them a call..... ask them when you will be billed for the insurance as you cant see it on your first bill and you did ask for it when you bought the phone.
Failing that there are may 3rd party companies that will insure phones/pda's/laptops, google for it and give them a call......

I think you have to replace the whole screen anyway?... maybe not. I dunno.

[email protected]! what an unhelpful post! They are available on ebay for around £120, easy to fit, just be careful the part you buy matches the part number of the original screen - some sellers say the magician screen fits, my supplier says it doesn't.
Richard
Thanks for all your help guys - I did try calling T-Mobile about insurance saying that I though I'd selected it when I bought it online, but they wouldn't budge on letting me insure it after 2 weeks and sounded pretty sceptical from the start :?
I contacted HTC directly and they're quoting £94 to replace the screen and for shipping both ways which I guess is fairly reasonable - especially after the great suggestion of buying a new one at £200+
Just thought I'd update you incase anyone else is as unfortunate as I was.
Not sure if I'm allowed to post contact details for HTC on here - so anyone needing to contact them, just PM me.
Thanks again for the suggestions

That's actually very reasonable considering your warranty remains intact as well. Cheapest price online is now about £95 for the screen alone! HTC will only deal with t-mob/orange branded items from experence though.

anyone know where I can get replacement parts 4 my MDA in the US. sorri to hijack the post but I figure since u are already on the topic of replacment parts I would give it a shot.
I cracked my touchscreen as well. If I can get the part, I think I can do the replacement myself. Anyone know where to get one?
I called HTC USA to ask about replacing the screen and was given a price for the work (pretty fair price). I then asked about removing cosmetic blemishes on the unit and was told that they do not really do that. I was willing to pay for it. I find it hard to believe that they don't clean up your unit as I would assume they would want to send it back in tip-top condition and what's to keep the customer from accusing them of damaging it further while in their possession. This sounded wrong. Anyone have any experience with HTC USA or recommendations for cosmetic touch-ups on your Hermes?

No good, they say they don't do that. There HAS to be some way to refurbish/repair/replace scratched units!
ahhh -- if you find out, please post back. I would LOVE to do that. My phone kissed the sidewalk, and just looks rough, even thought it survived.
What about damaging the housing?
ask them if they can repair a broken front plastic
wt if they say
they do not really do that
No luck. HTC said they do not replace the housing on the 8525. This is friggin silly. SOMEONE has to refurbish this thing. You can buy the generic HTC housing on the internet but have you seen the process for removing and replacing that? No thanks!
it's actually quite easy.. you just have to take your time
Hey guys...
today somehow.. i dont know how.. my camera cover broke...
I am from Germany.. does anybody of u guys know where to buy a spare part ..? I once read that its not even neccessary to open the device .. it would b possible just to press it in the free gap.. the new glass.. after fiddling the broken glassparts out..
could anybody of u guys help me ? Need to buy a new one or get it repaird or do it on my own or whatever.. as cheap as possible.. any experiences?
Not sure, but I guess this is your same issue :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=686990
Just order from here http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130469800249
use pincet and peel off the broken glass, remove everything and just replace it with that. Thats what i did and its still fine today, no need for extra glue since there is enough glue there to glue a new piece of glass. God lock it took only about 1-2 minutes to change it
same issue, thats true.. but no information of a seller in europe.. from ebay or such you know=)

its glass and yes yes and yes, scratchproof i dont know becouse i dont want to sratch it its clean on my phone, been using it for about 4 months its easy
Even before this, i have made a thread where i confirmed this bend problem, but now ill make this, as we got more official proof.
Xperia Z5 Premium has a serious bending issue, it bends like ... I dont even know! It can EASILY BEND IN YOUR DANG POCKETS! So watch out, carry it in a bag or something? Hhhmmm i dont, but it sounds better than carrying the bending thing in our pockets. But im still after this carrying it in my front pocket, because i dont do anything, jump or run or anything with it in the pocket.
>>>> https://youtu.be/gVPa8sNY1Xw <<<< (Might be painful to watch)
IT WON'T BEND BADLY IF YOU DONT RUN, JUMP OR DO ANYTHING WHAT MAKES IT UNDER ANY PRESSURE! ( the problem here seems to be that you really dont need alot of pressure to bend it!!! ). Ive been seeing that climbing stairs is too much for the phone, it can bend from even that. (mine did, slightly bended). Mine is also silghtly bended from the middle. (the other way, its bending in to the shape of a pipe)
As we are mostly happy owners of this device, we need to work together to find solutions!! As i dont have a case, i have no idea will it stop the bending.
>Case owners comment below for their experience!<
>All case owners reply and comment their case and opinion and whatever you want<
>THIS THREAD WAS MADE TO INFORMATE PEOPLE WHO ARE ABOUT TO BUY THE DEVICE AND OFC THE OWNERS OF THIS DEVICE. IN THE ANSWERS WE ARE TRYING TO FIX THE PROBLEM! NOT TO MAKE NO ONE BUY IT!<

I took my Z5 premium for 4 2-3 days snowboard trips and it's in my arm pocket of snowboard jacket, I took alot of falls and rolls and phone is fine... If someone bends the phone on purpose for sure it will bend... Which phone will not bend if you bend it with force??? I was using a clear case and it looks horrible with scratches and finger prints so I took it out from the case. Come on guys if you are afraid of scratching damaging it, only solution is DO NOT USE...

You've got to have quite a ham for a head to bend your phone
I'm using one of those devilcase's since the very beginning (actually, I ordered the case way before I ordered the phone) and I'm very happy with it. It fits like a second skin on the phone (a second skin, just a few mm thick aluminium) and it makes pretty sure nothing will happen to the phone (for front and back I use hardened glass protection)
I would recommend it everybody, though I bought it just for the looks
lol

Naaa but thx xd
This is beyond ridiculous lol. If you bend a phone hard enough, yes they will bend. Some will bend more than others. But I highly doubt you're going to put it in your front pocket sit down and get up to a bent phone. If so you might need to lay off the skinny jeans. Even in the video the guy looked like he was struggling to bend it. I'd say this is a non-issue.
Big yawn. Oh my gd, I bent my phone and now it's bent.
The majority of the people that bought this device is probably extremely rich and will probably get a new one just like that. I was lucky enough to get it for $470 and will probably cry if it broke or bent.

Maybe haha, in my country the device costs 2 salaries of work .. but i make the difference if i buy it in usa where there costs 1 salary for me, in fact really its expensive but if someone can save money, no doubt, can buy it
Buying tempered glass protector front and back, without trying to bend it then you are safe, that's the idea..

Wow, that's insane. A phone that costs one salary at best. You're right, if you save money for a purchase I guess everyone can afford, but I would never spend that budget of my salary on a phone. I guess it's up to your interest in that category to spend that budget. If you like the device, it becomes an investment, so there's nothing wrong in it.
