@htc_es says the September 2nd that we will have Froyo in this month.
I hope that will be true.

@ RaDiu5 Hello! expect to arrive later this month for updates to Desire Froy, Wildfire and Legend, a greeting!
HTC Spain says that its official.
In the first page of @htc_es twitter you find the info.
I don't see messages dated 2 september... maybe because I'm not registered to twitter?

the legend is like the least famous phone by htc and nobody gives a f**k about it
i really do hope the 2.2 for legend does come out this month...i really like this phone and think its underrated...
Totally agree that the Legend is underrated. It's just about 50 euros cheaper than Desire after all... but it is very classy device and is not a mass market plastic handset like Wildfire?! Desire, EVO 4G, Droid Incredible... all these already got Froyo update, now it is Legend's turn.
True indeed. Let's wait for him, the mighty Froyo.
If HTC will update the Legend, it will all be on the petition.

Somehow I find that very true.
That has a lot to do with it not holding a big market in the US

Legend Rocks..it's beautiful and it's fast enough..that's why i bought it, good price is other plus for this phone but in my opinion it's better choice than Desire ... but yeahh it is under underrated
I think another reason this phone can't be a big hit in the states is because of Samsung. AMOLED is pretty much only available for galaxy s at this point, they have difficulty making the phone. Korea just released legend, but it is limited to 20000 unit. How can it make impact when they can't make it to let people buy legend?
Sent from my HTC Legend using XDA App
Seems like the Legend is gonna be a limited Smartphone
Actually I don't see any real disadvantage for the owner's of a Legend, as I do not think that HTC has ever planned to release Android 3.0 on the Legend
From Twitter:
"@sloy5101 @Warrior_Of_Ice @Tole16v un comunicado oficial de htc dijo que llegaría Froyo para Desire,Legend y Wildfire a partir de este mes!"
Reading this message and the other one previously posted it is clear that the are expecting Froyo arriving to the Legend from September onwards, in the previous message they are just wishful it would arrive in September. BTW I cannot find anything related to the 2nd...
I hope I was helpful.
Cheers

Hi all,

I just put battery in side and connect to Internet.
Device is great, solid construction (I also have HTC Legend), it is fast, but without multitouch
Can you, please, confirm the presence of AWS (WDCMA-IV) 1700MHz band support?
BTW Android v1.5 was Cupcake, your X10 is running Donut.
PS: I don't give a flying f*ck about multitouch, it's a classic gimmick with no use for me - I prefer to be able use my phone with one hand instead of having to perform some two-handed gymnastics nonsensical gymnastics, only to gain nothing but lose safety when, say, I'm riding a train or driving a car or walking with my daughter holding her hand.
Tnx for correcting me, so where can I check AWS?
Well, I am playing with X10 for few hours, and I think that the main problem is 1.6 Android, in comparation with Legend (which I have) it is slightly slower. This can be seen in putting widgets.
What you see is the "Donut lag" - it is a common problem among Donut-based devices.
After someone releases a 2.x port it should be gone.
Well, we will sit and wait and I will continue to use my HTC Legend, hope to see upgrade rom from SE on 2.1
I know they will, it's only the question of when...
Retail version review from Stuff Mag:
anyway, they say that SE UI is pretty laggy...
Congratulations on your new device beetleman! Glad to see you went with an excellent choice. Hope you can include some more pictures soon.. Have you tried changing the background at all?
Thanks but I won this device and also HTC Legend, last week (what can I say, best week in my life- HTC Legend was in press conference, and SE Xperia x10 on SE event- I am ICT yournalist and editor in chief of Croatian e-zine about smartphones).
So I am very lucky, but as I said, it is good device, with big potential, so in comparation with Legend, Legend has smoother UI (HTC Sense) and implementation of services, but all thanks to 2.1 Eclair, so we wait update on X10.
Today I got him, so I will play with him a while, so we will se how it goes..
my main concern is TFT screen, because AMOLED screens are much better.

its not necessarily a marketing ploy to get more money, if anyone here has done any research or read about it they would know the x10 HD is the exact same phone as the x10 (hardware n all) it just has 2.1 (which supports hd video recording).
and obviously since the 2.1 update is supposed to come out next week they will be advertising it like crazy since its something people have been waiting for.

Exactly. I don't get what the big deal. It's just a rebranding, just like how the HTC Magic was renamed the Magic+ here in Canada by Rogers when it got its Sense UI.

If the point of marketing isn't to generate more money for your company, then what is it?

Guys chill out! This should be considered great news for X10 owners, simply because if SE advertises the same X10 after the upgrade to 2.1 as a new phone. This means it will likely be upgraded to Froyo! Therefore, if it gets 2.2 you will also get 2.2 right ?
So actually this is good news, and it will be a pleasure if this device gets Froyo, because it rocks already! By the way if you don't mind me asking, where exactly did you capture this picture?
I also see it as a marketing strategy is simple you add something different to the existing product and ready .. thousands more sales.
but that comment you said you opened my eyes and you're right .. if Sonyericsson sell it as new phone is very possible that give new upgrade for the "new buyers"
Let's hope so! would be great news
sorry my bad english
Yes.. We can expect 2.2 at Q4 2024 from $€.
Good thought anyway.

The only question now is when will we have the first builds ?
In 6 month just like with 2.2 x_x ( I guess )
Are they going to ruin 2.3 just like they did with 2.2?
No one ruined 2.2 the sgs phones are essentially programed/built differantly. The main reason it hasn't come out officially(besides leaks) is because of th bugs. Personally I would first tackle 2.2 rather then hoping for 2.3 which just was released.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
I guess, 2.3 update will be esaier for Samsung. At moment, 2.1 - Touchwiz supports such lang what vanilla 2.1 don't (east-eu: sl, cz, hu, ro, etc...)...
I think, Samsung don't want/know translate 2.2 for these langs too, but 2.3 Android is officially supoorts almost all EU langs.
I guess we will get 2.3 before end of January.
Just to highlight thats from Samsung India, there is no reason to take it as being an official Samsung reply or something that will happen.
I can't wait for Ginger Beard.

Some of you don't realise that 2.1 and 2.2 is mainly optimise for HTC's hardware. When 2.2 came out, Samsung's engeneer had to rebuit many drivers and reprogram a lot of stuff to get it working.
Now, with Nexus S, Google themselve are working on a native built so porting will most likely be a peace of cake (or cookie ). Samsung will most likely just put their bloatware in top and woala!! Optimized built!
wow, this sounds good! hope we'd get stock google os with none of samsung's crapware in it

My old nokia 5800 even working faster... and needed much less restarts!
Nice I don't think it's gonna take a long time as the nexus S will be running 2.3 and it is almost the same hardware as the galaxy S so it should be easier to adapt 2.3 for samsung. 2.2 was developt by google for HTC Nexus one, but 2.3 has been developt for samsung. So keep a little hope. I'm prety sure we'll get some nexus s rom ported to our phone really soon though.

Note this one also
Can I go back to the 2.1 version if I am not happy with the upgrade?
No – our upgrade solutions do not support downgrading.
Well it's not really hard for them. They'll just be porting almost all software from the Arc/Neo/Pro/Play to the X10, and maybe adjust some little things. Not that surprising imo.

Calling all Galaxy S II users.
How many of you would like to see the HTC Sense 3.0 in your S II?
If you would like to see it then post here. So that we can have the attention some brilliant devs who would want to work on it.
Come on guys its your chance to make your Galaxy S II look even better with Sense UI.
PLEASE DON'T POST THINGS LIKE USING A LAUNCHER ETC. THIS IS TO HAVE THE ORIGINAL SENSE UI ON S II NOT ANY LAUNCHERS.
Reserved
This is reserved for later
Well it would be nice to have the choice, but its not going to happen. They are struggling to get a functional CM7 on the SGSII, a functional Sense is an impossibility. But definitely would be nice...

I really like HTC sense! A great thanks in advance if you can bring "sense" to SGS2.
Thanks.
I hate it too. That's one of two reasons why i'm now with SGS2 and not HTC Sensation. I liked previous versions of Sense, but starting with Sense 2.1 they messed up app draver, sms app and so on. Sense 3 is a complete overbloated-missunderstanding.
If next HTC phone *will* have 4 gigs or RAM, i'm sure that 85% of it will be used by HTC bloatware. Just Windows Vista way.

Get the sensation instead if you want the UI.
Thumbs up from me. Switching from Desire to SGS2, I missed Sense the most, with all its details... (such as the ability to choose between contact names/pics on phone or Facebook, larger contact pics, smarter dialer, smarter keyboard(especially in Asian languages),the tiny thing even to fade in/out at the top/bottom screen while you're reading, etc.)
It's a pity that HTC doesn't do good harware and tends to reserve top specs for later phones (still can't believe they are shipping their flagship with 7xxmb ram and 1g rom. while iPhone is already rumoring for 64g.)
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
I for one want it.
And to those who don't,I want to say this.Wouldn't it feel good if your super device could actually run everything?Being restricted to Samsung's firmware isn't the spirit of XDA.We should all like the possibility that would give us more things to choose between. If in the end it becomes available, only those who want it should install it.No one's forcing you.So why discourage development of something many will find great?

After having a Touch Diamond (with TouchFlo, which later became Sense), a Touch HD (with Sense) and then a HD2 (with Sense), the ONLY thing that Sense had going for it was Co0kie's Home Tab. As soon as I started using Android I laughed in the face of "Sense".
