Calling all Galaxy S II users.
How many of you would like to see the HTC Sense 3.0 in your S II?
If you would like to see it then post here. So that we can have the attention some brilliant devs who would want to work on it.
Come on guys its your chance to make your Galaxy S II look even better with Sense UI.
PLEASE DON'T POST THINGS LIKE USING A LAUNCHER ETC. THIS IS TO HAVE THE ORIGINAL SENSE UI ON S II NOT ANY LAUNCHERS.
Reserved
This is reserved for later
Well it would be nice to have the choice, but its not going to happen. They are struggling to get a functional CM7 on the SGSII, a functional Sense is an impossibility. But definitely would be nice...

I like it very much!
great but how?
Not really, i would have bought a Sensation if i wanted Sense
I really like HTC sense! A great thanks in advance if you can bring "sense" to SGS2.
Thanks.
I hate it too. That's one of two reasons why i'm now with SGS2 and not HTC Sensation. I liked previous versions of Sense, but starting with Sense 2.1 they messed up app draver, sms app and so on. Sense 3 is a complete overbloated-missunderstanding.
If next HTC phone *will* have 4 gigs or RAM, i'm sure that 85% of it will be used by HTC bloatware. Just Windows Vista way.

i would like sense 3.0 its really cool and not that touchwiz 4.0 is bad but i think its more practical
anyway a sense UI with samsung remote functions would be great
I would like to have the option. But based on comments here, it's near to impossible.
I could make a "post here if you want WebOS" thread. XD
Brilliant I need it

Get the sensation instead if you want the UI.
Thumbs up from me. Switching from Desire to SGS2, I missed Sense the most, with all its details... (such as the ability to choose between contact names/pics on phone or Facebook, larger contact pics, smarter dialer, smarter keyboard(especially in Asian languages),the tiny thing even to fade in/out at the top/bottom screen while you're reading, etc.)
It's a pity that HTC doesn't do good harware and tends to reserve top specs for later phones (still can't believe they are shipping their flagship with 7xxmb ram and 1g rom. while iPhone is already rumoring for 64g.)
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
I for one want it.
And to those who don't,I want to say this.Wouldn't it feel good if your super device could actually run everything?Being restricted to Samsung's firmware isn't the spirit of XDA.We should all like the possibility that would give us more things to choose between. If in the end it becomes available, only those who want it should install it.No one's forcing you.So why discourage development of something many will find great?

After having a Touch Diamond (with TouchFlo, which later became Sense), a Touch HD (with Sense) and then a HD2 (with Sense), the ONLY thing that Sense had going for it was Co0kie's Home Tab. As soon as I started using Android I laughed in the face of "Sense".

as tw 4 is the only real benefit of the s2 i 'd really wonder if samsung was so stupid to give it to the galaxy s users.
i'd probably fire the responsible manager as sammy marketing chief if that actually happens as user i hope for tw4 of course, cant be worse than tw3 or cm as it is atm.
I would like to try TouchWiz 4. The YouTube videos of the SGS2 seems to be very nice. TouchWiz 3 was great, but has some problems, like the homescreen is left and not in the middle.
We wont get tw4 as we are only single prossesor and that will be reason and all these mates at samsung stories starting to get boaring only fact is beta out and final will be realesed when they decide to .be content with what we have amd thats the number 1 mobile on planet that initself should suffice but we want gingerbread are we ever going to be satisfied i dout it

For that you could try gtg465x's modded touchwiz 3. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=822523. It has middle homescreen, adds alphabetical order of app drawer and a nice 5 columns fixed apps on the bottom. You only need a rooted device and works on stock ROMs
Are people realy taking this kinda post seriously?
Can we have an "Anti-Thanks" or "Kick" button, please?
Well i do also know around 100 people at the nordic samsung support and they have no clue when 2.3 will be out but as they say seeing that 2.2.1 did just get released again i wont expect it before the nexus s are on 2.4 lool... or like this... around summer time.

Surely this means we are going to have a load of custom sense version now from XDA Devs and will/should mean porting Sense roms much easier

Yeah I was quite surpised coming from the HD2 forum how small the comunity over here was and was tempted to go for a more dev backed tablet but loved teh form facor of tab that much that I decided to go for it.
Im hoping that we may get some more devs coming over now that the 7" is much cheaper
BTW: Im not dissing current devs in any way, they do excellent work. Just saying that the more the merrier IMO.
My understanding of what this is would suggest that this won't make porting sense any easier. I thought it was a way for people to make apps more integrated with Sense.
Examples: 3D display, pen input and the like. Basically giving SDK access to all the proprietary crap HTC put into their phones.

Who knows?! The SDK for Honeycomb allowed people to make pretty complete ports of Honeycomb without the source code. The SDK woould give access to APIs and lead to more understanding of how Sense works. It might help.
I guess it could be worth a shot. It depends if it's the full Sense UISDK (like the Honeycomb SDK) or if it is just for making apps comoatable with Sense 3.0

Dont be so hard on yourself you are a sense user who cannot read so what ,

You don't even have cm or aosp working properly, a whole team hasn't managed to port sense over to the galaxy s 1. A sense port is in fact possible, but it will take ages and a great team to do the job, which I doubt will spent their time in which they could've made money on something a few users would kind of like. Get a professional team, pay them, and that is when you will see your proper working sense rom.
Don't get me wrong, there are people who would like to try, but they will come out disappointed, for they will have to create the entire processor sources and get them to work on a closed-source rom. Probability of a working sense rom are very low.
Miui on the other hand is a nice alternative, it looks good and is way easier to port.
Something I forgot to tell by the way, if your s2 has a tegra 2 processor and htc ever releases a phone with tegra 2, which is very unlikely, you are in luck. If you have a samsung processor you're out of luck, since htc probably won't ever use processors made by a concurrent.

I was wondering if any of you that have the same interest maybe just maybe if we all write in to HTC and request it and maybe ... may consider giving us the sense 3 lockscreen in the next update they make....
just wondering...
what you think?
HTC have said that "some features" of Sense 3.0 will be put on devices other than the Sensation, so only time will tell.
Truth be told, the lockscreen is one of the things I don't like in Sense 3.

I agree with your last sentance. I think sense 3 lockscreen is the best on any phone, its so customizable
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Yeah I agree with you, it is customizable. I just don't like sliding my thumb up to unlock the phone. It's seems unnatural to me. I prefer sliding my thumb from left to right.
It probably all started with Slide 2 Unlock for Windows Mobile. (I never had an iPhone.) After a couple of years of that (with various roms) and then various roms on Android with or without Sense 2, there seems to be no benefit to sliding up or the expanding ring animation.
Still, I do like new tricks and we are lucky we can change to as many roms as we want, when we want, so we are all kept happy.
Peace `Young man'.
Old Dog.
As much as I'd like to have the Sense 3.0 lockscreen, I'm not too keen on upgrading to Ice Cream Sandwich to get it.
Why? Well its just that my DHD started lagging to a pretty nasty amount just after upgrading to Gingerbread, compared to the amount of lag on Froyo. Sure, I realize that just because 1 update was screwed-up, doesn't mean that every last one will be so. Also, my guess is that we're gonna see the same problem that the Desire is currently facing with the "insufficient memory".
Either way, would anyone apart from me want to wait till Ice Cream Sandwich for the new lockscreen?

I had the same problem, but then i rooted and flashed a custom rom, and my phone has never been faster!
If I were you, I would just root phone and flash custom ROM eg AR HD . Then download lockscreen add-on and flash :>
I have to admit that after now using Sense 3 for a few days with RCMix3D Aztec v1.0 (thread currently closed), I'm really enjoying the Sense 3 lockscreen (especially with the animated weather). Maybe it was just time for a change again, although this is the first time in ages where I hadn't flashed the next CyanogenMod7 [Nightly] rom. I'd still prefer to swipe my thumb across instead of up but - yeah, the lockscreen is growing on me.
it's been said before on another thread... the icons on the lockscreen should grow when you hold them to drag!

edit: its not Primadonna or Affinity. They are releasing a new rom i think its called Infinity.
Though would I be correct in assuming that even if they do get the camera working fully, that porting such would only work on Sense roms. (i.e.: I don't much care for Sense).
there are already ics roms without sense with working camera so it is a huge step up for desire z.

Well I know that much, cuz I'm using one. I'm talking bout *fully* working camera, all the same bells and whistles as gingerbread and 720p recording. Not talking bout the current state of non-Sense roms.
With that I'm guessing what Virtuous is planning to release camera-wise would be about the same as what some of us are already using.

Hopefully if that's the case, that one can be ported to other (non-Sense) roms.
I know that for some Sense doesn't matter, but I find it as an integral part of owning an HTC device. (The Flip-to-Silence feature got me hooked when I saw the ads ) and each and every time I tried another ROM, I found myself going back to the good ol' Sense. Whatever version it might be (2.1, 3.0, 3.5).
It adds small stuff that some people care about - for example, the clock app has a stopwatch, timer, and other functions right in the app. I know I can download another app to do all that stuff, but hey - it's more integrated, it looks better in my opinion and I like to keep things stock because they are more in tune with the rest of the UI.
I really love the „Holo” theme in ICS, but we have to admit it still lacks in the App department. Yes, you can get apps to get the functions, but they aren't as finished and as polished as Sense apps.
Also, that Car Home app in Sense 4 is S-W-E-E-T!
You see my point. Different people have different needs. I'll stop here, or else this post will get waaay too long.

Yea I can certainly understand the appeal of Sense, as I've tried some of Virtuous's roms, problem is that for me it's much too sluggish most of the time and I would prefer some functionality over some of the aesthetic. (kind of funny when I say it that way, cuz my somewhat minimal ICS rom looks cleaner than the gingerbread stock Sense I had).
In any case, any progress is good progress considering that the alternatives we were waiting for (i.e.: DHD/etc getting stock ICS) isn't going to happen.
In regards to cameras. Right now on the rom I'm on right now, I can take 5MP pictures and record videos at 720x480, granted however the process was much smoother and crisper in gingerbread ( I guess cuz you'd get full hardware control in those cases ). But as long as one can actually take a quick snap or scan a barcode I think that'll make most people happy across the board.
We all love the virtuous team though
