This is [email protected] awesome or am I wrong!?!?!
Surely this means we are going to have a load of custom sense version now from XDA Devs and will/should mean porting Sense roms much easier
God damn hope so! But the Tab isn't the biggest dev community. Maybe we can persuade some over here though

Yeah I was quite surpised coming from the HD2 forum how small the comunity over here was and was tempted to go for a more dev backed tablet but loved teh form facor of tab that much that I decided to go for it.
Im hoping that we may get some more devs coming over now that the 7" is much cheaper
BTW: Im not dissing current devs in any way, they do excellent work. Just saying that the more the merrier IMO.
My understanding of what this is would suggest that this won't make porting sense any easier. I thought it was a way for people to make apps more integrated with Sense.
Examples: 3D display, pen input and the like. Basically giving SDK access to all the proprietary crap HTC put into their phones.

Who knows?! The SDK for Honeycomb allowed people to make pretty complete ports of Honeycomb without the source code. The SDK woould give access to APIs and lead to more understanding of how Sense works. It might help.
I guess it could be worth a shot. It depends if it's the full Sense UISDK (like the Honeycomb SDK) or if it is just for making apps comoatable with Sense 3.0

2.3
Announced with a video as well
http://www.androidcentral.com/gingerbread-sdk-released
http://phandroid.com/2010/12/06/int...ngerbread-announcement-video-live-on-youtube/
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jx3pdWBlZ34&feature=player_embedded
Quick question, so now that the Gingerbread SDK is released,,what does that mean? Do that mean that Devs will start making roms based off that or that the official Gingerbread 2.3 is right around the corner?
Any word on whether or not they decided to use that BlindType keyboard that they bought earlier?
I KNEW IT!! haha thank you

I'm not going to lie. I'm not impressed. Android's copy and paste icons look like something from about 10 years ago to me. I like HTC's version better.
And the updated ui does look a little better now that everything is black with green highlights. Still an ugly ui overall.
It just helps app developers get up to speed. People have tried to do roms from these but they come out very hacky at best. The source for 2.3 is needed for full roms. The is the sdk.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I suppose that HTC has it in development already so they can inlay Sense over top of this. Also, now all the Dev's can start developing their new Rom's with this base. Hopefully Flipz is still on top of his game! No telling how long it will be before Sprint is done with it. I would imagine they will hold up any official update for whatever they have to do. It's just a matter of time now.
I swear I've embedded videos on the forums here ...
Android 2.3 sure looks ugly. I guess I'll be making a theme that makes it look like Froyo.
it means devs can start making apps for it im i think , but knowing xda theyll do their thing and have roms out before the official release

Either way we probably won't see a official 2.3 device on Sprint for at least a few months.

Dont be so hard on yourself you are a sense user who cannot read so what ,

You don't even have cm or aosp working properly, a whole team hasn't managed to port sense over to the galaxy s 1. A sense port is in fact possible, but it will take ages and a great team to do the job, which I doubt will spent their time in which they could've made money on something a few users would kind of like. Get a professional team, pay them, and that is when you will see your proper working sense rom.
Don't get me wrong, there are people who would like to try, but they will come out disappointed, for they will have to create the entire processor sources and get them to work on a closed-source rom. Probability of a working sense rom are very low.
Miui on the other hand is a nice alternative, it looks good and is way easier to port.
Something I forgot to tell by the way, if your s2 has a tegra 2 processor and htc ever releases a phone with tegra 2, which is very unlikely, you are in luck. If you have a samsung processor you're out of luck, since htc probably won't ever use processors made by a concurrent.

Calling all Galaxy S II users.
How many of you would like to see the HTC Sense 3.0 in your S II?
If you would like to see it then post here. So that we can have the attention some brilliant devs who would want to work on it.
Come on guys its your chance to make your Galaxy S II look even better with Sense UI.
PLEASE DON'T POST THINGS LIKE USING A LAUNCHER ETC. THIS IS TO HAVE THE ORIGINAL SENSE UI ON S II NOT ANY LAUNCHERS.

This is reserved for later
Well it would be nice to have the choice, but its not going to happen. They are struggling to get a functional CM7 on the SGSII, a functional Sense is an impossibility. But definitely would be nice...

Not really, i would have bought a Sensation if i wanted Sense
I really like HTC sense! A great thanks in advance if you can bring "sense" to SGS2.
Thanks.
I hate it too. That's one of two reasons why i'm now with SGS2 and not HTC Sensation. I liked previous versions of Sense, but starting with Sense 2.1 they messed up app draver, sms app and so on. Sense 3 is a complete overbloated-missunderstanding.
If next HTC phone *will* have 4 gigs or RAM, i'm sure that 85% of it will be used by HTC bloatware. Just Windows Vista way.

i would like sense 3.0 its really cool and not that touchwiz 4.0 is bad but i think its more practical
anyway a sense UI with samsung remote functions would be great
I would like to have the option. But based on comments here, it's near to impossible.

Get the sensation instead if you want the UI.
Thumbs up from me. Switching from Desire to SGS2, I missed Sense the most, with all its details... (such as the ability to choose between contact names/pics on phone or Facebook, larger contact pics, smarter dialer, smarter keyboard(especially in Asian languages),the tiny thing even to fade in/out at the top/bottom screen while you're reading, etc.)
It's a pity that HTC doesn't do good harware and tends to reserve top specs for later phones (still can't believe they are shipping their flagship with 7xxmb ram and 1g rom. while iPhone is already rumoring for 64g.)
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
I for one want it.
And to those who don't,I want to say this.Wouldn't it feel good if your super device could actually run everything?Being restricted to Samsung's firmware isn't the spirit of XDA.We should all like the possibility that would give us more things to choose between. If in the end it becomes available, only those who want it should install it.No one's forcing you.So why discourage development of something many will find great?

Okay, I know this is gonna be a huge controversy, but that's not why I'm posting this. I am somewhat knowledgeable in how these phones work, and always like to try something new. Some people like Android, some like Windows Mobile. Thats why I propose this. Make an attempt to port Windows Mobile from the HD2. It seems to be the most similar phone to ours running Windows Mobile, and with as much as Windows Mobile has been "modded" or "hacked", whatever you wish to call it, I think it'd be possible. First matter would be getting it to boot in the first place, then drivers, etc. I don't know the chances of doing it or anything, but I'm gonna give it a try anyway. If you wanna help me out, let me know.
EDIT: If any devs are wanting to tackle this, I have found what seems to be extracted roms for the HD2 and the SE Xperia x1. Link: http://goo.gl/f4hWa. I am unsure of how to do this, so I'm pretty well confused. Any help is appreciated.
Any news on an WM sd based version on HD2?
When I had mine, people where talking about this possibility.
Maybe then it would be easier to port to DHD.
Personally, I'm not interested.
But it would be a nice challenge.
Yeah I need to get it all extracted first. Gonna take time since its new to me.

Get 6.5 and that'll be possible. Going straight to porting 7.5 is like a nerd thinking he can date the hottest girl in school.
Sent from my Inspire 4G using XDA App
The problem with Windows Mobile is that the developers wont port it due to licensing issues. If they do and post the ROM here XDA will get a big lawsuit from Microsoft. The reason they can port Android to everything is because Android is open source and there are no licensing restrictions. Microsoft has locked down WM and to modify it would be breaking the rules and will cause some legal issues.
Wowww.... Everyone with winmo already on their phones modifies so that makes little sense.

7.5 yes, not 6.5! I hated 6.5 on my hd2, it looked so old and clunky.

Because people who have Windows Mobile/Windows Phone on their phones have a license from Microsoft to use the software. Posting a hacked version for people to use who don't already have said license would be akin to posting warez which is banned under forum rules.
Unless you've already got windows mobile legitimately running on another device that you own; maybe you could delete it from that phone and claim that you were using that license to run it on your DHD instead...
Not going to happen.
I agree with the sentiment, It would be nice to see WP7.5+ on our beloved DHD's.
But read this article about what MS did in the days of WM.
I don't think XDA would want that again.
