Well my phone is completly white screened. I took it apart and messed around in there but I couldn't get anything going on. even with it apart i really couldnt get it to stay solid for more than 15 seconds. Either something else it wrong, or I just don't have the technical ability to fix this.
Not sure..what I am sure of is that I really don't feel like after spending 300 bucks on a phone I should have to be messing around with something like this after 6 months. So on that note I think I am going to be saying goodbye to HTC or at least this model. Does anyone have any suggestions on some other solid phones that have some of the same functionality as the hermes but are a bit more reliable, especially for the money spent.
Thanks for any advice.
a bad experience is not enough to categorize this...
I'm having a really bad experience with my HTC Universal, and still I giving it a go. But I won't recommend you more any HTC If you don't really like going into new roms every while... I think this is the "nice" experience of having one of this
I like playing around with the various ROMS...I don't like having to take the entire phone apart because of what is quite clearly a design flaw. I was just hoping someone could point me to a similar phone that was a bit sturdier and didnt have this massive design flaw.
Quick Bump...anyone have any suggestions? I need to get this replaced...I feel funny without my phone.
Sorry, this isn't a phone recommendation, but if you feel that you have invested quite a bit of money in something that may get lost, stolen, or break, you might want to consider getting your next phone insured.
I have received replacement handsets under insurance for both Nokia and HTC without quibbles.
Yes good Idea. Unfortunatly AT&T does not insure this particular phone (or at least didnt when i bought it). Probably because it breaks a lot.
im pretty sure this is your first htc phone. Im pretty sure its even your first windows mobile phone, and that you did not buy it new.
If you had other htc phones, you would know that this hardware is High Tech (htc = high tech corp), and pretty much the most advanced stuff you can get these days. Things can and do go wrong, its true about anything thats complicated.
If you had other windows mobile phones, you would nkow that they are very stable with their core programming. BUT, for speed, customizations, cool toys, etc .. one had to spend time pasting together the components and making it work.
Finally, if you had bought this phone new, your problems would have been covered under warranty. If your not the type to fix things yourself, get it new, dont take it apart, and demand you get what you paid for. Also, just because a few apples have gone bad, does not make the entire harvest bad! My 8525 has experienced mroe parking lot drops than I care to admit, and she is still treating me very well!
Good luck with your new phone. Weigh the pro's and con's a little mroe carefully next time!
p.s. at&t nor cingular will insure pdas anymore, because of their high replacement and repair costs, not their failure rates! Plus customers can simply "think" something is wrong, and insist on a brand new replacement under insurance. That gets very costly! I used to work at an at&t authorized dealer a few years ago and these were the reasons I received from North-east regional sales mangers. If you want to protect your investment, there are plenty of third-party insurance agents you can go to privately
I can't believe you spent all that time with that message and managed to completly miss my entire point. I don't care what anyone says, this is a design flaw plain and simple. It has nothing to do with the fact that this phone is the "pinnacle of technology" or whatever. It's just an internal design flaw. It has nothing to do with me tinkering around with it, it has everything to do with poor design.
Maybe I wasn't clear enough on this point...I like everything about this phone except for this massive design flaw that makes the phone useless. I was asking for people to give me opinions on a similar phone that was designed a bit better.
Thank for for spending 10 miutes of your life telling me about technology, insurance issues, and how to choose the right phone for my technological abilities. Unfortunatly I didn't ask for any of that information.
not to worry sir, im a very fast typist. Took 4 minutes at the most.
The point is, any phone you get, even non-wm, do have the potential to have a problem. Either you avoid it completely by buying a different phone (impossible), protect yourself against it, or expect it something to happen and have a plan in place (insurance). Doesnt matter what new OS you move to, you WILL have problems if it is 50% as customizable as Windows Mobile/HTC is.
I was happy to spend another 2 minutes with this post, so no sympathies are required this time around . Good luck to you
p.s. to answer your original question .. a phone you will not likely have a problem wit his a Pink Motorola Razor. Given you can't do 10% what you can with any HTC phone .. but much less agrivation for you (that is what your looking for, isnt it?). If it ever develops a white screen, have the manufacture replace it. Thats the beauty of a warranty (and is "Getting what you paid for" (thats what your looking for, isnt it?))
for it's price a razr v3i is worth to buy now...still can play MP3 and have a memory expansion slot...not too bad for a cheap phone rite?and yes, you dont have to flash your phone every once in awhile...hehe..
ps. i'm a happy hermes100 official rom user...with a signal issue coz sometimes it just wont receive calls...OMG where's the stable radio???hehhehee
Jesus I feel like i'm talking to a brick wall. The problem is NOT the software of this phone..it is a physical design flaw. I don't have any problem with the ROM, with flashing the ROM, with WM6, WM5, WM20058349209, or whatever. My problem is that the ribbons and the way they connect in this phone are flawed, and I was hoping someone knew of a similar phone that did NOT have this DESIGN FLAW. The white screen issues is NOT a software issues from what I can tell, it is a design flaw. I don't know how else I can say that to make you understand what I'm trying to get across here.
Design flaw? No white screen of death here mate. Perhaps it is just a design flaw in your particular batch of phone, no? As for recommendations, you could always get a Sony!

I've read this thread and I have owned and used (and, yes, burned lots of ROMs) my Cingular 8525 for about a year. You keep saying "design flaw" over and over without explaining the problem. Something about a "white screen" comes through, but you are not making your case. Exactly what failure are you experiencing and why do you think anyone else is having the same problem? I have had half a dozen cell phones and this is my second smart phone (first was a Treo 650). I've also had myriad other Palms and Psions. All have been amazing for their time. None has failed me, including the cingular 8525. Of course, I haven't taken it apart
A "design flaw" implies that many or most samples will have the same problem. Please try to convey what that problem is. I'm curious.
my thoughts exactly since there are at least a million hermes out there without design flaws...
Well consider yourselves lucky then.

Heres a few other people that have had the same problem, and a very good explanation of the problem and causes.
I guess maybe I'm just that 1 in 10,000 guy thats having this problem, but it seemed from this and others posts that it was pretty widespread.
HTC build quality does seem a bit suspect, IMHO...
The slide assembly on my Hermes gets really loose unless I take it apart every few months and tighten the screws up, plus, the whole thing is a bit creak and cheaply made to start with.
And I've just realised my last PPC to fail completely was also built by HTC, an iPaq H3870...
id wait for the ultimate 9502

are you serious? c'mon, how many phones have you evr owned? I have had the displeasure of owning MANY MANY phones, ALL of which broke, had sucky reception, screens cracked by themselves, and GOD FORBID you dropped it on concrete twice! the Hermes is the HANDS DOWN toughest phone i have ever ever seen. I have dropped in water, onto a deck from 16 feet, on concrete dozens of times, flashed ROMs, installed hundreds of 3rd party apps, ETC...... AND it still goes on strong after 2.5 years. The ONLY problem I have had is the USB gets loose, and needs to be treated carefully. But for the price, and the fact that i have not needed to replace it over and over again (like ALL my other phones) has made it the best phone HANDS DOWN I have ever used, PERIOD.
PS IPAQ is MFG by HP not HTC??? and you say every few MONTHS, this means if you did it twice , you already owned it longer than most phones last.......... go but a nokia and DONT FORGET THE INSURANCE, you'll need it.

my 8525 from o2 is stuck on windows mobile
First off let me say I had been a loyal SE fan for years since I bought my first t68. I have owned dozens of phones since then over the years and have purchased every p series phone (except the p1) as my needs increased. I still own many of these phones.
I bought an X1 and I got one of those infamous week 44 X1 models. I use it to keep on top of my emails and keeping in touch with clients, GPS etc. as I am not always near a computer. I was very happy with it and even convinced several of my colleagues to get an X1, half of whom have started having issues with their phones (that's another story).
My case finally cracked after 8 months despite me taking extra care of it. So I contacted X1 dedicated service. They told me to contact my point of sale first (defeats the purpose of being dedicated service). So I did that, got a service order number and sent my phone in by post to the service repair place and got it back in around 10 days. Now this was just before I went to London for a business trip and I should have taken a closer look at the phone. When I arrived in London, I noticed that there was a chunk missing from chrome part of the chassis itself. This was where someone would insert a tool to open the case or something. I was pissed! How can you send a phone back damaged to a customer? To add insult to injury the GPS refused to connect to a satellite!!! I resorted to using paper maps, something I wanted to avoid, oh well...
After getting back from London, I contact X1 dedicated service again, this time no reply from them. So I write to the general SE supports describing the events. After a good part of a week, I get a reply telling me to contact the point of sale again. So after a week as I was too busy I again contact my point of sale, get a repair order and send it in to the service depot. The very next day somebody from SE calls me (he wont give me a direct number or email to reply btw) and says, send it to us and we we will ship you a new phone. I told him the service depot has it and to contact them. The service depot contacts me saying they have fixed my phone and are going to send it back. Next day same dude from SE says they told the service depot to send it back to them so they can send me a new phone.
So finally at the end of the week same guy from SE calls and says he has shipping confirmation from DHL and I will have my phone on Monday. So, seeing as I deal with DHL a lot, they always show up first thing in the morning. So I stayed home and waited on Monday morning and thought to myself I can do my stuff in the afternoon, after lunch still no DHL! I have to write to the general SE email as that guy refused to give his email or number, and have to wait again! After 4pm, he says by email "sorry for the confusion but it was sent by regular post" and then gives me a tracking number. The parcel was scanned in 2 hours before he emailed me, it was never sent on Friday. How could he even say that he has shipment confirmation when he it has clearly not even been sent out on Friday??? Thanks for wasting my entire day, I waited for DHL getting pissed at DHL when it wasn't even sent via DHL! Does it stop here? Nope!
I tracked the package and went personally to the post office depot the next day and picked it up myself as I did not want to wait yet another day for it to arrive. So what did I get in the mail? An X1 alright... a WEEK 40 model and it had greasy finger prints on it, it had dust and fuzz in every crevice and even in the headphone jack which also had scratches in and around it! Further more I checked the service info and it has several hours of incoming and outgoing calls shown. New phone my ass! This phone is refurbished! Lie after lie in this situation!
DEDICATED SERVICE? To what, dedicate yourselves to screwing people over? The X1 is supposed to be a flagship model and it carries the price tag with it, I deserved better than this! I scoured the net and I am not the only one who got a refurb despite being "promised" a new phone after similar issues.
Shame on you Sony Ericsson! You have lost a loyal fan and I will tell everyone who asks me if they should get the X2 to steer clear of SE and share my experiences with them.

Can you recommend a new phone for me or something then? is the Touch Pro 2 good?
because i mean the X2 has exclusitivity with vodafone... and i have just had endless problems with both.
But i can honestly say the x2 does look like a very good device, they've clearly changed a lot over the x1 and i am actually considering getting it :S
But its just their lack of support that deters me...
and after reading your story, i mean, they literally lied to you and thats just not on.

I see they lied to you as well, must be standard protocol or something... shame shame SE (although in your case it was Voda?).
I am looking at HTC right now, but seeing as the X1 was built by them I am wondering about that as well... LOL! Not sure what to pick. I will take my time and just wait to see what hits the market. The X10 will surely prompt the other guys to make one with a faster processor as well. We will have to see...

True, but that could be because they are competing in a smaller market now. All the other players are going over to Android. Which again SE will join late in the game.
Didn't read the whole text but, there are two main reasons for me:
1. Same hardware/specs as X1.
2. No XDA support, therefore no custom ROMs from here.
It's like having an X1 with no XDA community behind it.
why don't you take some photos of the "new" phone they sent you and post them here then email SE with the link to this thread?
i'm not getting an X2 also as i lost faith in SE "i need a flexcable for my X1 and it was out of stock in the entire country and could be found only in one place which is so expensive!", plus no XDA-Developers Support.
Meh not to mention SE's super slow due on new phones... the X1 took one whole year that's one screw up management... By the time X2 and X10 out everyone else beat it by miles, at that time only sore pitty SE fan like me will still go after them for double the price of other competitor models which already considerbly 'old' at that time... SE lost money for a reason not mainly because of the global economic downturn...

I could take pictures, but it was a dirty older phone. As it sits it just looks like another used X1. However...
Here is a picture of the damage when it was returned (after being repaired) the first time.
SE has a copy of this picture, I sent to them when I made the first complaint-
i bet many of us on xda have at somepoint had each others phones since SE seems to be sending out damaged ones that got sent back

LOL! You know... that is a very strong possibility...
Heres my story,
I had my x1 for 7 months (and I never dropped it), in this time the surface of the D-Pad came off in some places even though i havent used it to often. well... than came the basic crack in the case and I brought it to my phone provider, they said they will send it to SE and SE will fix it. they gave me an white W200i as replacement -.-. x1 came back 2 weeks later with a new case but D-Pad and batterycover not replaced. i told the guys to replace it but they just didn't do it.
But somehow i can't be mad @ SE and if i had the money i would buy the x2 right when it comes out.

Yeah, the dpad area of mine was chipped away as well.
If you cant be mad at someone for not doing something you asked them to do, you must be very forgiving.
Hi
Even though, I haven't had a single crack so far, I have several scratches on the battery cover. I'm confident that one day I will have to send my phone for replacement (or just buy a new cover) because of breakage in the housing. This very day I will order another Sony Ericsson phone - either X2 or X10 or XXX (no pun ). Although I'm disappointed of the support @ SE, I really like their phones - Xperia is the first phone I could have complaints for. To be honest - I can't blame SE for a single failure till now - therefore I still believe in them and I'd buy their phones in future. Of course, my patience is not endless, but for now they still have a true fan.
Cheers
X1 built by HTC, what about X2?
Hi guys,
As far as I know the X1 was built by HTC (hence being here at XDA), with SE only doing the software touches.
I've had SE phones for years (P-series, and also the K-series ones for camera.) I went for the X1 because I wanted to use my phone more for web, email, etc. and because of my experience with SE.
To date I've been lucky. The only problem I've had with the phone is a crack on the chrome plastic from where I dropped it but I'd be concerned about going for the X2 given the X1 build quality issues.
Do we know if SE or HTC are building the X2? If its SE then it might have better build quality, if its HTC then it could be the X1 all over again! HTC have a history of producing excellent phone functionality but questionable build quality and I do wonder if the X1 has just fallen foul of that... if X2 is made by SE then it could be a good, reliable and well built piece of kit!

built by a side company of foxconn. so build quality should be very good.
put foxconn on wikipedia and u will see they make a lot of famous top end products,
Even i had(still having) a similar problem. My phone's screen stopped working. First i sent an e-mail to X1 support about this, no one replied (it has been 3 weeks now and still no reply), after that i tried calling on the X1 support no an no one picks it up. Then i searched for a service center near my place(the service center which i knew is now closed). I gave it to them, its been more than a week now and the phone is till with them and they say it will take 10 more days for the parts to arrive.
UPDATE:
I got a response my phone and email from the Customer Service Manager for this region.
On behalf of Sony Ericsson he apologized for the way that my case was handled and said that they take these kinds of issues very seriously etc.
As the replacement phone is working, they are not going to send me a new one. If this one fails we can address it then.
(I knew that was coming)
Will I buy another SE product again? We will see...
Hi Guys,
This is all getting very interesting. Firstly let me state that i have an HD2 so this isnt one of those threads complaining about not getting one etc etc...
Mine has no issues whatsoever. The only problem i had was with the camera and this has been fixed completely by todays release of a camera update.
So... i have just read on the Vodafone forums that Vodafone will no longer be stocking the HD2!!!! This little snippet of info was posted by an official Vodafone rep.
I am now hearing similar stories from T-Mobile.
Is anyone here in know about whats going on? loads of rumours flying around at the moment....

lol this happens every time a new handset comes out.
Operator A says 'we don't have any as it's been recalled/firmware update/whatever' so you don't go running off to operator B.
I'd be amazed if this is being withdrawn from any supplier.
I'll believe what HTC (and common sense) is saying though..
im on the edge of my seat waiting to see what happens next tbh...
We should see an update from Vodafone posted soon in the thread i linked above.
Ok... its official... they've pulled it!!!!!
Hello everyone,
As promised, here's our update:
We won't be re-stocking the HTC HD2 for general consumer sales once our current devices sell out. There's been a great deal of interest since we made the HTC HD2 available to buy in November and our initial supply quickly sold out. With subsequent deliveries of stock we've prioritised the fulfilment of back orders for the device. Given the wide and expanding range of smartphones available to Vodafone customers, including the iPhone in early 2010, we're confident that we continue to offer the broadest range of devices to our customers, more details of which can be found at http://shop.vodafone.co.uk/shop/mobile-phones/all-phones
Kind regards,
Tom

seems a very stupid decision on vodafone's part, especially as the official comment they seem to be giving to press is that there is no room for the HD2 amongst their current and future smartphone lineup. Surely they would have known what handsets they have and will be getting soon, they should never have sold the HD2 if they were going to stop selling it after a few weeks.
Glad I got mine when I did. But this is a terrible move by Vodafone. Why stop selling one of the best current smartphones on the market less than a month after you introduce it!

Just spoken to a guy at Vodafone over the phone about this. He said this was the first he had heard about it. He also told me, that compared to all other phones, the people who phoned about problems on HTC phones was a LOT smaller than the list of people who phoned with problems on other ones.
And sorry sunking101, but have you used the HD2 for a prolonged period of time. The keyboard only takes some getting used to, because of the capacitive screen. Windows Mobile is NOT a nightmare to use. This is just a lot of crap spouted by review sites, tech blogs and Android and iPhone OS users.
Sure, it has some flaws. But most of these can be fixed. And Windows Mobile gives a LOT more functionality, which I think is worth a bit of getting used to.

That's probably down to poor market research lol - they've obviously planned on the iphone selling like hot cakes when they get them and have totally overlooked the possibility of the HD2 flying off the shelves... my guess is that they have pre-ordered absolute tons of iphones that they'll have no chance of flogging if many of their customers get an HD2.
I have to say that I got one from them and that apart from the camera issue (obviously now fixed) I have none of the other major problems (touch wood it stays that way! ) - sms are fine, call quality is fine, keyboard is fine.

There are certain features that I absolutely love - the screen for one, internet browsing, the decent You Tube app and internet sharing but the basic features of a mobile phone seem to have been forgotten by HTC. This phone is awful for calls (terribly loud even on the lowest volume setting and distorted, crackly audio), awful for texting (nasty keyboard, delays with SMS sending and receiving, plus occasionally texts going to the wrong person!!!) and the calendar is poor. The camera is ok in my book, as is the size of the device. It's just the basics it gets wrong and ultimately they're the most important for most users.
Fair enough mate. I personally, have had zero issues with call quality or texting. Sometimes a hard reset can fix those issues =p
The keyboard simply need getting used to.
To be honest I smell a rat here, I have had an HD2 now for about 4 week and it has been fine in fact it’s the best phone I have ever used. No problems at all.
I followed the HD2 for months on loads of forums and there seems to be a small but very vocal number of people going on about how god awful the phone is, how is has major problems and is a waste of time and money. Most of these posters are new to the forums that they post in and almost seem to have joined to have a go at the HD2. (sunking101 Join Date: Nov 2009)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=583618
Now I know it’s not perfect and will have faults but to be honest I have seem this so often that I am starting to think it’s a campaign to put people off the HD2. This story seem to me to be more of the same, I find it hard to believe that Vodafone would go the trouble to test and clear the phone for it network only to stock it for what two weeks?

Two weeks and we've all had to put up with your trolling every step of the way. Given that nobody else seems to be suffering from all the problems that you are it's pretty safe to assume that you are the problem, not the phone. I'd recommend that you replace your HD2 with something simple like a Motorola RAZR that you won't find too confusing.

Kind regards,
Tom

Hmmm actually just noticed the bit that says "general consumer sales" so it could be that it's going to be for business sales only?

That's probably down to poor market research lol - they've obviously planned on the iphone selling like hot cakes when they get them and have totally overlooked the possibility of the HD2 flying off the shelves... my guess is that they have pre-ordered absolute tons of iphones that they'll have no chance of flogging if many of their customers get an HD2.
I have to say that I got one from them and that apart from the camera issue (obviously now fixed) I have none of the other major problems (touch wood it stays that way! ) - sms are fine, call quality is fine, keyboard is fine.

No doubt the iphone will sell quite well when it does come out on vodafone but in the store i work at for o2 we've had more people over the last couple of weeks ask about the hd2 then any other phone, so vodafone could lose quite a few customers who wanted the hd2 over an iphone as a result of this decision
Just sent my HD2 away for repair after only 32 days of use. Was working "fine" then all of a sudden the touch screen stopped working. tried reboot, hard reset and reflash without any change. to top it off O2 are no help. Had an iPhone for 18 months and had one or two issues but apple replaced the handset on the spot TWICE. The second time they replaced it the handset was 30 days out of warranty. O2 refused to replace the handset as its more that 28 days old! (4 days older!)
Hope when the phone comes back that this doesnt happen again otherwise i will be selling the HD2 and going back to the iPhone.
Has anyone else had similar issues?

Sounds like your real problem is with O2. Sure, the phone stopped working, but you can't blame that for the crappy response you got from O2. This is obviously why everyone recommends you get insurance, but 32 days isn't acceptable. That's definitely a beef with O2.
holy **** the whole forum is filled with troubles of the HD2.
Cause people are stupid, not the HD2, not HTC and not MS.
In this case, the problem is O2. Again, not the HD2, not HTC, not MS. Faulty devices may happen, that happens to iPhones, Droids and all other devices as well and as often.
I'm soo tired of those threads. People complaining about the simplest things, always blaming HTC and MS for everything. The most stupid thing they do is praise Apple or Acer or whatever other manufacturer, when in fact their phones have so much more problems (hairline cracks, scratched Apples, anyone?).

you think its bad here? just go have a look at the iphone section at macforums (or any section for that matter) and tell me if its just as bad here then!
BTW , hello everybody! new here (registered long ago but never posted) and getting my HD2 at the end of the month. can't wait
Mine is not UNreliable. It is very reliable in fact.
I have owned multiple HTC's and I think the only one that did leave me sometimes was the Touch Pro.
My HD and the HD2 are my most reliable phones ever owned.
It's the most reliable phone I ever had. Much more reliable than my iPhone 3G.
It's also the highest quality phone I ever had. No stupid shiny Apple on the back that gets scratched even without ever putting it on hard surfaces.
It's also the most powerful phone I ever had. Doesn't lack basic features like Smart Dialing, BT transfers etc.
In short: It's the best phone I ever had. And I pretty much had them all.

Exactly like I said: Stupid people always blaming HTC and MS for the smallest issues while completely suppressing the fact that other phones from other manufacturers actually have HUUUGE issues compared to a few small glitches on the HD2.
I'm really so tired of this behavior.
I had handsets replaced after months of usage with o2. My previous phone orbit 2 has been replaced after 4 months of usage where scroll wheel broke.
Second time it was replaced a month before end of contract (17 months since I got it) when charging socket fell out. Yes it took a bit of time to send unit for inspection and get a reply what will happen (two weeks from posting to getting new one) but O2 side was quick.
Conversation:
"Hi my phone does not charge as charging socket fell out I need it replaced"
after that I gave my details
"Ok I will open a case for you and e-mail you details where to send phone for inspection"
"Thank you"
Phone sent and done.

You can't have owned your HD2 much more than a month, so it's a little early to be calling it one of your most reliable handsets ever.
dont get me wrong. I have had HTCs before and all have been fine. My issue is mainly with O2's service and secondly with the reliability of my HD2 which has so far been poor. Really hope it does prove itself to be a reliable handset after this issue as it is a joy to use when its working.
Think i have got used to getting instant replacements for the iPhone and not used to being stuck with a nokia 2760 loan fone.

He could be comparing it to the 1st month of the other handsets he owned. He didn't say.
i was wondering when a new thread with this topic is gonna be created. it was almost time ! in the world there are two extrems. iphone the most reliable phone and hd2 the most unreliable one. having that said nevertheless i would not change it with any other phones out there. there is a say where i am comming from: the greater your rooftop the more snow you will have to shovel. this is the most powerfull os for mobile devices. if you are used ti iphone then i would really stay by it..
and why do people mention the iphone when they are complaining about hd2? i dont get it

A lot of the problems with the HD2 are indefensible actually mate. Sure other phones have problems too but we own HD2s....and that's what we're complaining about. I couldn't give two hoots if yours is perfect because mine isn't. I've had two....and am awaiting a doorstep swap tomorrow for my third handset. A catalogue of problems.
You misread my post. I said it's stupid complaining about glitches of the HD2 while suppressing the fact that other devices have much bigger issues (and their manufacturers do NOTHING about them, like the hairline cracks or scratched Apple logo on the iPhone).
So many threads where people blame HTC or MS for either isolated things like hardware faults or for their own stupidity, and at the same time hail Apple or others regardless of the fact that Apple's other companies' phones have a lot more issues.
I'm tired of those posts. And I couldn't give two hoots if your device is faulty, cause mine is perfect. So spare me your whining.
And by the way, I already have had my HD2 for exactly two months, that's enough to conclude that this is the most reliable smartphone ever.

I had my Sony P1i for 26 months.....and had ZERO problems, so I would say currently it's the most reliable smartphone - certainly against your 2 month old HD2.
I said in my original post that it was the most reliable smartphone I ever had. Because it is.
stop complaining guys

nothing is perfect in this world. thats why XDA is here to make things almost perfect but "Rome is not built in a day friend" no smart phone was a huge hit out of the box.
if anyone cant wait / search / experiment this is not the right place
to be honest i will be getting my HD2 tomorrow but i had used all other HTC phones only because i know that XDA helps in almost every problem.i enjoy flashing roms every other day just finding the right one.
this forum, has been my favorite place. so many genious people are working for all of us to make things better
so not to be hard or hurt anyone , if u want to njy your HTC phone, please be patient, search and experiment.

I have a iphone 3gs and here are the complaints getting back:
scratched apple logo(happens to EVERY ONE) you wont be able to keep it scratchfree)
cracks in casing(about 30% of the users reporting this)
apple store approval team(they suck)
im member of 4 iphone forums and this forum got more problems then the iphone forums. Alhough stopid idiots always remain.
3 weeks ago there was a guy sending back his iphone because the backlight was to weak. He said he didnt try to fix it because he was still under warrenty. Lol...
Well, the HD2 definitely has less problems than the iPhone. And other than Apple, HTC is working on solutions.
The cracks and scratched logo were widely known problems of the iPhone 3G, and yet Apple shipped the iPhone 3GS in the same low quality casing. Quality-wise, iPhone vs. HD2 is like Dacia vs. Bugatti.
actually dacia aint too bad! but seriously, i still hear nothing but complaints from iPhone users and yet they will defend apple to the bitter end. Why? all they do is pump out poor quality expensive phones using yesterdays technology yet people still "would die to have one".
the iPhone is for people who dont know any better. HTC is for people who do know better.
EDIT: would just like to add that my Nokia 3310 that i have lying around is far more capable than the iPhone at actually doing what the apple products do, making and recieving calls. even in the most marginal of signals it naver fails to make or recieve a call.
After having passed from brands as Sony Ericsson, Motorola, Nokia in last 15 years, i decided to depart a bit from them. In 15 years just 3 brands you can understand that i like to be loyal to a specific brand...
I decided to go to LG, and oh boy it was a disaster.
After 3-4 months of use i started becoming a lover of LG G2 and i was gathering a list for my next big purchases from Amazon: LG 48" tv, LG phone for my wife and LG sound bar.
However suddenly i noticed a glitch to my L:G G2, a glitch on the feature that i originally selected LG G2: the camera. All photos were blurry. i searched a bit on the internet, and noticed that a lot of users complained about the scratched camera that made the photos blurry.
I tried to fix the lens by myself but with no success... the camera was probably the most important feature on my phone - since i have two little twins to take all day photos!
I sent my phone for repair to a company that LG sent me to, that is their official repair shop: www.fonemaster.com.cy
I told them that this is something that hundreds of people have the same problems from a search online, and gave them numerous links, in order to show that this should have been under warranty.
They came back, not accepting that it was under warranty and i had to pay the repair!
Of course my answer would be f*ck off, and just wanted to throw the phone in the garbage! Fortunately Amazon accepted to send the phone back.
And fortunately i didn't buy all the other products that i wanted to buy from LG, i wouldn't want to deal with their horrible customer service!
After numerous emails to LG, i never got a reply back from them, and they just left a customer alone - and all these: for a replacement accessory costing about 15$ !!
Now we are extremely happy owners of Huawei P7, Sony Xperia, Samsung HwF550 soundbar, and we are going to buy a Samsung TV.
Adios LG, you will get zero from me in the future! NEVER AGAIN LG

I dont see other users complaining like this. Maybe its not particular nowadays. Me too had a bad experience with Samsung Service Centre but thats normal. I dont bash like this in Samsung threads.
To me all brands seems the same, if its your luck happen to get a faulty unit and a not-customer-friendly service, swallow it. This Q&A section is for people to share their technical experience and problems with G2 but not the problems with Service Centre, infact the one you've proceeded is not LG's owned service centre.
Okay im gonna stop here, chill out dude this problem like you faced is not uncommon anymore, all brands are like this.
ok understood.
What frustrates me is that simple things that are so common problems for users, and through google you could easily be aware of it, LG should have known and be able to fix them...
First, I'm having a hard time understand how a scratch lens could cause the image blurry. 99.99% blurry images are user problem but I don't rule out that you are the 0.01% left.
Second, my rule of thumb, if it is really a hardware issue, w/i the first 30 days, I would return to seller for an exchange or refund w/o bothering the mfg. After that, I would contact LG for repair, if it still under warranty, they should do it for free, if not, walk away from them. However, if it isn't under warranty for some reason such physical abusing, hacking, rooting, ...... you should expect to pay.
Third, if you're not happy with one mfg., you can try another. Good luck with Huawei.
Ok,
First: please Google blurry images due to scratched lens. You will understand that the problem is 99.9% a malfunction due to the manufacturer.
Second: i tried to solve my problem with Lg but they didn't want to fix a 3 months old phone
Third: i already decided that i won't buy another lg product
Fourth: what's wrong in expressive my opinion? I should just praise a manufacturer or contribute in ROM development?
Anyways i will say it once more, STAY AWAY FROM LG PRODUCTS, THEY GIVE ZERO SUPPORT
If you need to express your opinion about some bad service you got, do so in the general discussion forum. All this thread is doing is sparking arguments, with people who like lg coming to their defence. Not a particularly useful q&a topic.
OK correct maybe forum section was wrong. It should be changed to general.
But any people having different arguments welcome of course! But absolutely no one will change my mind that LG the WORST BRAND I EVER DEALT WITH
You have to realize that nobody cares you will change your mind or not and nobody cares to convince you that LG is best or worst mfg either.
It is your personal preference. We hear you. Pretty much it.
Well I don't really care about it
Just want to inform potential buyers.
STAY AWAY FROM LG. THEIR SERVICE AND BRAND IS HORRIBLE!
THEY JUST NEED YOUR INITIAL MONEY
i had the same sh*t customer service to, i tried to explain to them about the camera lens being scratched and they also gave me the link you got and i would be charged, but i told them to f*ck off as it should be under warranty, i then fixed the lens myself with some atonish polishing paste, i then got a phone call asking about the phone and i said its fine ive fixed it myself and he asked how so i told him and he said your warranty is now void so i just laughed and told if it breaks mate i will throw it straight in the f*cking bin your warranty is a joke.
its not just LG its all customer services, i think you have to a complete knob end to pass the job interview.
To be honest these days you'd be lucky to get great customer service from any phone manufacturer. Its become an exception rather than the norm. To the OP I hope you get the service you want from Huwaei etc however I wouldn't hold my breath as I've heard equally shocking stories from them

He stated a well known LG G2 problem. The lens scratches very easily. Even on my own phone i notice scratches. LG will not confirm it's their fault for the obvious reasons.
