I have a damaged X10a housing from rogers but I think I'm getting another housing for it. is there a difference between a X10a n a X10i? I'm thinking of getting one off of ebay but I don't know if their real either...
Sent from my X10a using XDA App
To my understanding, there is no physical difference between the X10a and X10i. The only difference is the the network bands they run on.

How hard is it to change housings? Thinking of changing from White to black
Mckebapp did a good job on taking X10 apaort, please refer to the following link with screenshots
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=668132&highlight=upskirt&page=9
If you are going to buy the housing form dealextreme, do keep in mind that it only come with housing, and it does not come with the Touch screen glass.
The hardest part is to separate your original touch screen glass, becareful when you do that, don't break it.
Also, the color of the touch screen glass will be different if you are thinking of changing the color of the housing.
To OP, what color is your usb port cap? willing to part it out?
Like all SE phones dismantling the phone is easy, but removing the glass digitizer off the fascia can be tricky, and housings advertised at dealextreme are the same as on ebay, and i doubt the replacement housings have any ready adhesive to stick your digitizer back on...
Thanks guys, you have no cluehow helpfull this was, I do appreciate it greatly

I would be curious to see if it is actual SE OEM housing or a copy. My suggestion is to contact SE and get a price on the actual housing. The copies can sometimes leave a bit to be desired. OR find someone who bought one and see how the colors match up. That can be a good way to find out if they are OEM or no. Back cover has production numbers on it.
Good luck

Log on to airfagev.com and go to forums. look for the thread about accessories or look for member named artic. he sells accessories for xdaII. pick up is usually in an LRT station that both of you agree upon. Last time I saw list price if from 1,800 to 2,000. For the instructions on how to replace, there is a technical manual for the xdaII that you can download from the internet. Can't remember where I got it just search for it.

Pics please!
Might want to check craiglist or ebay for bricks to tear down?
I dropped it on a set of concrete steps and it landed at a angle on the edge of the steps and spider webbed the screen. It still works fine but is annoying with the cracks

this is for the i9000, definitely wont work for our phones;
all i can find is replacement batteries, sorry :/
Return to T-Mobile or samsung? warranties?
I could do a insurance claim and get a whole new phone but that's 130 trying to find a cheaper way
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I'm pretty sure your not going to find this screen for less then $130. If you do post it on here.
Well that's why I was asking on here to see if its possible if not then I will go for the insurance
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
They told me it would only be $90 for my insurance....
They told me 130, but it is a matter of worth is it worth it to you to maybe save 20-30 bucks on a screen when they will most likely just give you a new phone? Not really worth it to me.
there was someone that posted either in this forum or the i9000 forum that he had found a display screen for his vibrant at a vendor in texas for $65
i'll look for the thread and come back and post if i find it but you might look for it as well -
found it - was in the captivate forum - you might check with the OP to see if he got what he paid for
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=745467&highlight=screen
I would like to have 2 working vibrants. That would be nice it would give me a test phone and a normal use phone. I will probably just do the insurance and be done. And worry about this screen later on. The screen being cracked has minimal effects on viewing the screen and zero effect to the responsiveness of the the touch screen but it does get annoying to look at after a while. And I do have this one running a 1741 quadrant score with little effort but will work great on the insurance claim phone
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Here is the link that has the captivate screen, you might call them and see if they can get the Vibrant. The price on the 'Cap' is really cheap in compirson to what i thought it would be. Only like $75.

Yep.. I have a big scratch on my Gorilla Glass. I'm not sure how it happened. Just looked at it yesterday and there it was. I'm guessing keys in the pocket or something.
The silver T has fallen off my Desire HD I talked with htc and they said they did not have the stick on letters and i would need to send back for a new case.
I realy dont want all of that hassel but at the same time my top end phone looks stupid. Do any of you know where i could get a replacemrnt?
That's a new one. You could try to glue it yourself if you still have your T with you, if you just find a suitable glue type for that.
If you have any other issue with your phone like loose camera bezel or SIM cover (there is a separate topic regarding all the known faults), then I would probably send it to HTC.
Good luck!
I had exactly the same problem with my Palm Treo Pro (HTC Panther) so now it's affectionately called "Pam" as that's now what it says on the back!
Guess HTC don't use a very strong glue on their devices!
Or perhaps just remove the H and C all together?
Buy something like this:::
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Letraset-Rub-Down-Transfers-Teen-Silver-/320663841484
any hobby/arts/stationery store should have them. As its the 'T' thats fallen off, it doesnt even have to be the same font.... a bigger, fancy 'T' would look like a logo
OR just remove the T and C and use a new font for all 3 letters
Or buy this::
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LETRASET-PROMARKERS-METALLIC-SILVER-Pen-ACID-FREE-/120602813835
just use the fine tip to mark in the 'T'

Problem with that is that the letters are plastic and in-set into the back of the handset, so a transfer would not fit in the gap exactly and would look tacky.
Similarly, using a silver pen to fill in the indent would probably still not look so great, would not have the chrome finish of the other letters, and wouldn't sit flush like the actual physical plastic letters would.
If you have the piece still, what I would do is use a bit of epoxy and that thing will never come off again
Other than that it sounds like your stuck sending your phone in if you want it fixed. Maybe you could get a new one sent to you first then you send it back once you recieve it
Swyped from my Desire HD running Leedroid @ 1.8GHz using XDA app
H C=holy crap. Just kidding.
You should get a replacement from HTC, I think the warrenty covers that.
Just go to the place where you bought it for a replacement.
Sent via psychic transmittion.
If you don't want to send it in, you could also buy a new unibody case. Of course that would void your warranty
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App
Given the likely hassle you'd get from swapping the entire case, I would just prize off the T from the new case and epoxy it into the existing one. Dunno what you'd do with the rest of the new case though. Quite an expensive and wasteful way to do it. I wonder if dummy handsets use the same letters. Maybe you could convince a mobile phone shop to part way with either a T or a whole dummy phone....

Hey Guys,
Added another video with further disassembly instruction to the first post. In case anyone needs help taking out the LCD and digitizer.
Hope it helps!
take care
Digitizer
So, I cracked the glass on the housing of my X10 and was taking it apart to see if the LCD was okay. In the process of doing this i got to the fron housing/digitizer and from the guide that I read the digitizer is glued/double sided taped to the fron housing glass...anyway the guide said to heat the glass/digitizer to make removing it easier (so you dont have to buy another one) and while i was peeling it off, I ripped the ribbon cable for the digitizer. Now, I am looking on eBay for a white housing and black digitizer but a few of these auctions have a lens that is black with the white housing which is a little confusing to me now. So is the digitizer clear and on the back of this so called lens or what?
White Housing w/Black Lens
Black Digitizer
White Digitizer
So you think the digitizer is glued to the "lens" and nobody really goes through the trouble to remove them and just resell them as a black/white digitizer or is there a digitizer that you can just buy that would be clear or something that you would glue to the lens...

There is a warranty stamp? I dismantled mine at one point and they took it back... the only thing the look for is the water damaged sticker

yeah there is definitely no warranty stamp, and even if it did, once your warranty is over, it would be much cheaper just to buy the part and fix it yourself rather than pay someone to repair it.
now i can change my scratch screen thnkz

I was told its antenna (thats why I can not get good signal most of the time). But I can't find it where to buy it.
Housing or cover. More specifically - back cover or battery cover
It has nothing to do with antenna.
Just search on ebay..

That thing is the antenna, I know when I replaced 32A black housing with white one, that part didnt had any flex antenna in it, and the signal was extremely low, so if you are buying this from ebay, you must get that flex black antenna with it, otherwise its of no use. Hope you can get it somewhere=)
The housing will not have the antenna.
I just replaced mine... the housing did not include that part.

That flex antenna thing which goes to the top of the phone? Its already in my phone. I don't think that flex thing goes at the bottom too. Might be wrong though.
Another thing - may be it is possible to DIY somehow? I mean usually antennas are just "piece of wire". So maybe good electrician could work something out? Just an idea.
that is antenna, but changing housing wont have that part.
you dont need to change that part to change housing.

The upper flex antennas are for Bluetooth and GPS, bottom one is for mobile signal
About DYI, I belive its possibile, as you have said it is "a piece of wire" , though I dont know wil that end up, if you manage to do that somehow could you inform us how?
But you could buy flex anntenas for BT and GPS from ebay (upper ones), and cut them so they fit to signal antenna, just a thought =)
