Looks like part of the case missing. No idea what you would call it or if you could buy it by itself

I was told its antenna (thats why I can not get good signal most of the time). But I can't find it where to buy it.
Housing or cover. More specifically - back cover or battery cover
It has nothing to do with antenna.
Just search on ebay..

I think he was talking about that missing piece at the bottom. Theres a part there that comes off first when I take apart magics that I guessed might be part of the antenna

Do you know if that can be bought seperate? Or would he have to buy a replacement housing for just that one part?

Good question. By the way I don't see that part included in that housing ebay listing he posted either. Should it be included?

You might have to buy a complete housing to get that one part.

What I was trying to say is that I don't see that part included in any housing packages that are being sold online.
Any more opinions?
If it's a complete housing then it should have it.

That thing is the antenna, I know when I replaced 32A black housing with white one, that part didnt had any flex antenna in it, and the signal was extremely low, so if you are buying this from ebay, you must get that flex black antenna with it, otherwise its of no use. Hope you can get it somewhere=)
The housing will not have the antenna.
I just replaced mine... the housing did not include that part.

That flex antenna thing which goes to the top of the phone? Its already in my phone. I don't think that flex thing goes at the bottom too. Might be wrong though.
Another thing - may be it is possible to DIY somehow? I mean usually antennas are just "piece of wire". So maybe good electrician could work something out? Just an idea.
that is antenna, but changing housing wont have that part.
you dont need to change that part to change housing.

The upper flex antennas are for Bluetooth and GPS, bottom one is for mobile signal
About DYI, I belive its possibile, as you have said it is "a piece of wire" , though I dont know wil that end up, if you manage to do that somehow could you inform us how?
But you could buy flex anntenas for BT and GPS from ebay (upper ones), and cut them so they fit to signal antenna, just a thought =)
Here is the link to ebay.

I think 'antennas' can be replaced with foil - at least that's what I have in my magic after realising the original was missing. Its not ideal but it works!

Can someone tell me whether or not this is OEM housing for the x10? i know it say OEM on it.. but you know.. lots of these china/hk seller claims it's OEM but it's really not ~ some stupid b**** ran into me today and sent my phone flying ~~ dented in the corner luckily my screen is not scratched ~ and it happened 2 days before my case arrives T_T

It looks legit but mostly they are not real oem. If u need a replacement housing I would give it a try.
Well the name is spelled wrong in the listing. I mean if they cant get the spelling of the name right then I don't know lol..Small minor thing but hey everybody else can spell sony ericsson right why cant they lol
It looks good to me.. can't see any flaws....
(regarding the "Ericssion" spelling.. The i is next to the o on your keyboard.. so probably just sausage fingers!).
oh well i took the plunge and paid for it ~ i can't stand my phone flawed 50bux ~ blah
Q: Is this official OEM housing from Sony Ericsson? 30-Apr-10
A: Yes. Sony China OEM
Q: Hi dear. Im looking for the Original white housing for my white x10. This one pretty look the original but it has some differences. Like in the back and front doesn't have XPERIA tittle. If later you found the original one please let me know. Thank you 27-Apr-10
A: Hi, This is a OEM housing. And very cloesd to original. But the XPERIA need to stick on back cover. I could offer. Thanks

Tell ya one thing for free!! The thought of changing the housing is one thing but removing the glass touch screen from it's original housing will take some very careful disassembly. It's very thin.. it's glass and it's stuck down with glue or strong tape. Flex it a little and you might be hunting for more than just the housing.
Dont Buy it.
Hey mate sorry to hear about your phone. When things look too good to be true it normally is. Its way too soon to have real housings for sale like this. Experience tells me that you will probably pay your money and never receive anything.
Just put ur x10 in your new protective case and try not to think of the damage underneath.

Looking at the sellers feedback you'll receive the case. However only time will tell if it is a real OEM one. I'm looking for a white case too (actually only the back part of the case) as I'm quite sure the glossy white housing will scratch pretty bad (looking at all those white iPhones out there).
My screen is cracked to all hell. Is there a youtube video showing a strip down of the epic? Is there a guide on how to replace it? I have the lcd and ditizer,so I'm all set except for the actual replacement. LOL
Tia
would you mind sharing the source for the screen/digitizer for those that haven't broken their screens yet ?
Just curious.
I do not know how to tear it down yet though.
Thanks for sharing.
I got it from an interstate wireless on 7 mile for like 60$ lol
Anyone?

You sure you got the right screen? Epic uses SAMOLED, not LCD... also, the digitizer and the LEDs are part of the same construct (one of the reasons it's "super"), so you'd effectively be really just changing the display with integrated digitizer. The glass itself is glued to the plastic case. You'd need to find a way to pull it up, from what I can tell. (I have not ever taken one apart, but it is almost certain that it is a glued screen, which explains why some people are having peeling issues (my Evo had this.))
There is not much for the Epic but some info for the original Galaxy S
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=745262
Dissemble of Galaxy S:
http://www.careace.net/2010/06/09/disassembly-of-the-samsung-galaxy-s/
and there are some tear-down pics of the Epic
Thats prob all info there is :/

yea i was just saying "lcd" i got the right one i know
taking a look at the links below
ok well by the looks of it, its pretty much the same thing. i talked to a tech at a repair center, and he said he MIGHT be able to do it. if not, i think i probably have about 70% chance of getting it right. the video showed a break down right down to the digitizer, and it looks almost EXACTLY like that i have, so in theory, i should just have to go as far as gettting the back off, and putting the back BACK on the NEW digitizer/amoleisupmyassed, right?
also, just for clarification, i know i have the right one bcuz i can see the button whole thingies and its the same as what the epic has (menu, home, back, search)
thanks for the useful links& help guys

just curious...so sprint installed the screen you purchased or they installed one of their own? I had to do this on an htc phone a while back and it was much easier than I imagined.

I've watched a video for another galaxy phone ... the reason I'm nervous about this one is because on the Epic the screen is on a separate part of the assembly because of the keyboard.
Also: The video shows how to take it apart .. but not how to put it together again. Do I need to glue it together again? What type of glue?

I still don't understand, why are you out of warranty? samsung offers a 1 year warranty...
does one not have to deal with sprint?
Does changing the software so that it runs on a different network not void the warranty?

No even though Sprint has it in their system as marked "bad esn" samsung will not have to do with this. Although I don't think Samsungs warranty covers accidents, such as dropping your phone and cracking the screen.
Hope you get it figured out!

Well Samsung has their own warranty thing...but I would confirm by contacting Samsung..don't tell them you swapped networks or anything of course..otherwise I don't think they would bother to check...
You can always flash it back too..unless phone doesnt work completely?
I got the whole screen + keyboard for under $60 on ebay. It turned out to be as simple as unscrewing and unsnapping the cover, disconnecting three connectors, removing the electronics and putting them in to the new frame. If I'd have to do it again it wouldn't take more than 15 minutes.

I've been working on repairing my own Evo, and ran into an issue where the middleplate I bought from China did not come with the wiring tape / Antenna... so I bought one of these.. BUT I had to buy two. Anyone need one? It is on the way, but I won't have a need for two middleplates... PM me and we can work something out. $15 bucks.
This is who I used:

They seem to have everything I have needed in the past, wish I would have ponied up the extra dough and got my parts from them in the first place... Live and learn.
I hope someone sells an aftermarket middleplate like this for the 3D, I hate the inside of the new Evo, it's not red!
How would I go about removing my old one to put this one on?

You can get the tools from Ebay for a couple of bucks. I've never done anything like this and so far so good. I've seen people substitute a guitar pick for the "safe pry tool" but I splurged.
There are many videos on doing this, hence where I got the ol idea, and it really isn't too hard, I just couldn't transfer the antenna from the old middle plate to the new one.

with a custom backplate with the hole in it for the custom middle plate that has a kickstand....
just an fyi, the black sands off pretty easily and if you have someone good at applying nail polish you can make this a custom color. my evo has red trim now to match the camera/kickstand backing

I'd like to see a picture of that... sounds pretty slick. I've seen some versions of the bumblebee Evo, not too bad.
only from the side, but you get the idea. my friend did the bumblebee and im not a fan. the red is much more natural. the thing is that the whole piece is actually red, htc painted the sides black

Yes the eMMC Chip, but I don't know what part to buy.... I am not in a rush because I have a HTC Sensation and want to use the MT4G as a backup phone and I don't want to pay $ 185 for repair with HTC.....
The chip is soldered to the motherboard. Did the chip die? If not, don't worry about it.
If its dead, well, get a mobo and start desoldering buddy....
Another alternative would be to get a phone with a broken screen and mix and match parts to make one complete phone.
