Hmmm...search of "SPHD700" doesn't come up with anything.
I am 99% positive it is the Samsung Epic 4g for Sprint...looking at Test Report 1 under DETAILS, it confirms that it is a CDMA phone with Wimax
Also comparing the body/form of the phone with pictures currently floating on the internet shows that it is eerily similar to the Epic 4g...2 buttons on the left and 1 on the right (marked by the indentions on the FCC ID Label and Location.pdf)

Thanks for the confirm. Saw the last post from the car and couldn't recheck until now - thought I hallucinated the whole thing in my desire for it to be there.
But it is there - this means a launch date should be coming soon. Can't wait!
It's kind of interesting that it was submitted just last week. I wonder if they were confident that it'd pass and started producing them before approval, because otherwise, I'd say its still a month from wide release.

I wouldn't trust that date - if you look at the Confidentiality Request Letter, it was submitted to the FCC on June 23rd.
Still hoping for a July release! C'mon Sprint...

Aug 12th is also the same release date as Droid 2 from big red. Will be interesting lines at places that sell both.

Are you sure you don't mean the androidforums post that says it is the 11th after the person tried a floor model that had just come in and pressed for the employees to check on the release date? Also someone recently posted in that thread on androidforums claiming to work at a radioshack and saying that they didn't get a dummy model or a release date, but that they will be notified by the end of the month for the preorder process.

That was the thread, I did misquote the day, and Aug 11 would be pretty 'Epic', launching one day before Verizon. I called my local radio shack and they hadn't got their display model in but expect it tomorrow or Friday.

This says April 16th. Can this be? Anyone know where they get their information? I have noticed in the past they generally only put release dates on that are somewhat reliable, or they will put 'unannounced' or something more general like 'summer'.

Working for Radioshack I feel I'm obligated to say this. We willl have it release day, at least 1 in store if it is a busy store. My sprint rep will be getting his demo soon and I was promised I could use it before release behind closed doors to the public. So if I manage to get my hands on it before release I will let you all know how cool it is!

Over on Android forums there's an insider that has predicted everything that has happened with this phone, and listed specs before it was even the Evo. He's pretty reliable.
Anyways, he's saying the Evo will launch on June 6th for Best Buy, Radio Shack, etc, and for Sprint on the 13th. If not the 6th for retail stores, then the 13th for everyone.
Pre-orders will start in mid- to late May.

The rumors are going everywhere on this. People are saying that since Sprint said it will be price competitively, that it should be around the 200 mark. However, others are saying the TP2 (all be that its a world phone built for business class) was priced A LOT higher than 200 upon release. Furthermore, since the Evo is the first phone for the US to incorporate 4G along with the mobile-hot spot, a giant screen, and Sprint's history of not having a freakin clue as to how to price phones "competitively" it could be as high as $300, but then, that would be pretty stupid to do as the iPhone will be released shortly after (if the release window stays in the late May early June slot)

Not sure if this will include the Evo or not. It's just a screening of Bruckheimer movies. BUT! They did show the Prince of Persia trailer at CTIA, soooo.. I'll let you think on that.
Those of you waiting for the Samsung Epic 4g to become available should be extremely happy to know that starting tomorrow, 8/5/2010, you will be able to pre-order through Sprints website!

On Thursday, August 5th - if you are a Sprint Premiere customer, you should receive an e-mail containing a link to Pre-Order your Samsung Epic4G
Then, on Friday, August 6th - the general public will receive an email containing the link.
Here are some guidelines for the pre-orders:

-Pre-orders will continues through 8/17/2010 (NOTE: The reservations may be closed early if inventory is depleted)

It seems about right got the Samsung announcement today and it says stay tuned so there is some good announcement coming. Also its about 2 weeks a way from aug20 pre-orders sound about right by Friday. Cant wait to see what happens soon or tomorrow. Im ready to preorder tomorrow.

If it really happens at the Engadget show you'll know as early as an hour and a half from now up to as late as 2 and a half hours from now if they like to keep the best for last. In either case stop back in 2-3 hours if nothing new has been posted then yeah...

How do these preorders from Sprint work? Do you pick them up instore or are they shipped to you? If so when do they arrive if shipped? Will Radioshack and BB be doing preorders for this phone?
I'm most likely gonna preorder from RadioShack if they have it for cheaper than 199.
That way I can get insurance through them, AND pick it up the day its released.
Im guessing Wirefly will have the phone for around 149. But dont know if I could start a new contract on my friends plan that way.

I speculate that the 20th is the original date. Yet, competitiveness drove sprint and samsung to push for the 11th; so as to beat the torch and possibly the droid 2 to the market. Their endeavors were most likely spoiled when a software glitch of some sort was found. Now, they are frantically fixing the issue and may soft launch the phone on the 11th if said glitch is repaired, or can be made available via update a short time after (much like the evo). The 20th, is a solid release date, and allows Sammy and Sprint to submit the software fix to manufacturing. This is purely conjecture and my outright lust for this phone has driven my imagination to draw such a conclusion.

I know right? And I am one of those people that wants this phone so badly I have been blatantly dismissing all those September or later claims, but this is not good news, and is probably the most specific they have been since the "Summer" commitment.
I'm really not look forward to this.
They're probably just trying to get all the bugs worked out. If the epic comes out with a lot of bugs, some people might return it and go to the Evo. I'm happy to wait a bit so all the bugs can be fixed. It will come soon enough. I'd be shocked if it didn't come out in August.
I went to another Sprint store that had the Epic ad in the window. They are the second store to tell me Aug 20 is the release date for the Epic. But, they don't know the price.
I hope it has the same $450 price tag (or less!) as the EVO. If I decide to go for the Epic I could probably get $400 for my EVO, so $50 would be a great price. Plus I still have my contract due October 1st.

That posting is from an authorized retailer, not the corporate store on Walnut St / 22.
Authorized retailers seem to be the last ones to get new phones in stock, as I have experienced with the Instinct release.

Sprint looks to be making all their high end smartphones to be $450. However, I can say for a fact that the 20th is unlikely, and NOBODY knows a concrete release date yet, at least not in the retail end.

Which means AT&T has 6 days to fix this backorder issue, or preorders are going to get screwed.

I work for AT&T, I haven't seen that message that is going around about early release yet but it looks legit. It mentions internal systems that we use and we have all the price tags up in store. It's rare for use to put a spot on the wall for a phone that is several weeks out.

It also looks like they finally fixed the Premiere store for people wanting upgrades. Yesterday it would only let me upgrade to an iPhone (any variety) and some crappy Nokia. This morning it allowed me to upgrade to anything.
Here's to hoping that it really is the 22nd!
