Here are some guidelines for the pre-orders:
-Only one Samsung can be reserved at a time
-Pre-orders will continues through 8/17/2010 (NOTE: The reservations may be closed early if inventory is depleted)
-No Money, Bank, or Credit Card information will be required to reserve a device
- all reserved devices MUST be picked up by noon on the day following the Samsung Epic launch or they WILL BE CANCELLED
-Reservations will be made through sprint.com/ Epic4G

It seems about right got the Samsung announcement today and it says stay tuned so there is some good announcement coming. Also its about 2 weeks a way from aug20 pre-orders sound about right by Friday. Cant wait to see what happens soon or tomorrow. Im ready to preorder tomorrow.

If it really happens at the Engadget show you'll know as early as an hour and a half from now up to as late as 2 and a half hours from now if they like to keep the best for last. In either case stop back in 2-3 hours if nothing new has been posted then yeah...

How do these preorders from Sprint work? Do you pick them up instore or are they shipped to you? If so when do they arrive if shipped? Will Radioshack and BB be doing preorders for this phone?
I'm most likely gonna preorder from RadioShack if they have it for cheaper than 199.
That way I can get insurance through them, AND pick it up the day its released.
Im guessing Wirefly will have the phone for around 149. But dont know if I could start a new contract on my friends plan that way.

It had me enter my zip, pick a store, etc. Then it told me I could pick it up 8/31 (and had to by 6pm).
I'm glad that it got pushed back a little, to be honest. It allows me to have more than enough funds a lot more easily

EDIT: Nevermind, I just got the Sprint email and it says to look for their email tomorrow to reserve one.
Mine just has a sign up today page. Did you sign up first and maybe your sign up info qualified you? I am not currently a sprint customer and will be in VT when it comes out so need to buy in VT, which for those who don't know it is the middle of nowhere. Also I'm not a business user. Just asking, I want to be able to reserve one because VT is so remote I want to make sure I can get one.

At least it gives you a week to learn of any problems the phone has. I think that's a good thing. I'd love that luxury. Being a Verizon customer whose service ends on the 1st or 2nd of september i need this phone on day 1 period.

I got a call from At&T about a problem porting my number from Verizon (yes I am making the switch back). I mentioned they could not port yet as I don't have a phone because it is on pre-order. Cust Service said that I would be receiving it in a couple of days. I got the call yesterday so i am hoping to have my shiny new Atrix tomorrow or the next day.
Could be Cust Service has no idea what they are talking about but you can only hope
If that is the case I might pre order through att instead of best buy then...

Hello everyone. I'm new to this section of XDA - I've had a Captivate for some time (4 of them actually) and have been quite dissapointed at times with it. Overall a great phone, but lots of un-necessary issues (imo) I just pre-ordered the Atrix 4G today and was told I could recieve it within the next 7-10 days at the soonest... I really cant wait to see what the devs here on XDA will cook up for this killer phone (based on specs). If the dev support is anything at all like it is for the Captivate - this is gonna be a great ride with the Atrix 4G
I am hoping we get alot of captivate devs to switch. I know there is a good chance that the bootloader will be encrypted, and that might keep the ROM chefs away, but I really hope we find away around it. i am going to be submitting as much of my capabilities to the effort, but I am new to android. I have done a small amount of program development on iOS with jailbreaks. so hopefully I can help.
Also, as I have said before, Devs are the lifeblood of these phones, and I am willing to put my money out there as a substitute for my experience. I am willing to help any motivated devs by donating $20-$40. Hopefully we can get a rich community surrounding the phone. that way when i am still using it 18 months down the road, I will still be happy with it.
I didn't get that email at all and I preordered on Sunday morning when the preorder option first popped up. I did get my confirmation email right after preordering and another email today ( 17th) , but not the one you have. Am I still going to get my atrix on the 22nd? Or did something get messed up?

I freaking hope so...it's my birthday! lol
I just received shipped email and it is showing delivery by 3pm on 2/21.
When I did the checkout on the AT&T site it told me it's scheduled to be delivered on or before March 6th... if people are getting them as early as the 21 or 22 I sure as hell hope mine arrives around that time as well.

I'd be seriously pissed if FedEx left it on the porch without signature and it got stolen after waiting for this phone. Good thing it's a holiday and I'm working from home all day!
I opted to have mine shipped to the att store - just incase i wouldnt be home when FedEx showed up. This way i dont have to worry about it being left on the front step and sitting there

True true. Everyone wants to make a picture that shows up in the news. This one looks no more legit than the last.
Which means AT&T has 6 days to fix this backorder issue, or preorders are going to get screwed.
People will walk in-store and grab theirs, while we wait at the mailbox for our preorders.

I work for AT&T, I haven't seen that message that is going around about early release yet but it looks legit. It mentions internal systems that we use and we have all the price tags up in store. It's rare for use to put a spot on the wall for a phone that is several weeks out.

It also looks like they finally fixed the Premiere store for people wanting upgrades. Yesterday it would only let me upgrade to an iPhone (any variety) and some crappy Nokia. This morning it allowed me to upgrade to anything.

I can see this being the same for Canada as we operate on the same US AT&T LTE bands for Rogers, Telus and Bell/Virgin. So phones destined for Canada may not be delayed either .

I will get 14 days to return it if the One shows up by the 28th or the 29th of March but I highly doubt it.
The US timeline may not be affected by the delays could be because it wasn't going to be released until April.
I am keeping my finger crossed that I will end up with it by the end of March

If they're going to be releasing it the 29th now (or even the 22nd), pre-orders should be up to go soon.
Hope T-Mobile will release before the end of April.

I could always do that as well
, but isn't it a hassle to switch out? I mean you get everything all setup on one device and then have to take it back and switch out and deal with the rep headaches and what not....unless you do everything online. Still a pain.
I will give it a little more time. Hopefully hear something by the end of this week.
I know I will enjoy the Note anyway as I have an s3 right now and love it, just love new phones, lol!
Wife did say this is the last one for awhile, unless I start Craigslisting...

They Usually give you only about a week with those thigns (10 days tops) so im guessing the phone will come out next Friday, i wish they would just give us a stupid release date, it would calm people down

Since the HTC One upgrade promo technically ended yesterday (it's still listed on HTC's site), I'm sure we'll see U.S. service providers start announcing release dates and pricing any time now. The Samsung Galaxy S IV will be unveiled tomorrow, so it'll probably be Friday or next Monday before we get details.

Yeah, but i think they are going to try and steal the "thunder" away from the gs4, which is kind of smart but at the same time stupid, so im expecting something to be said tomorrow and if not by friday the latest

That is hilarious, I switch a phone about every other month sometimes every month. The rep got used seeing me in the store. It is not much of a hassle for me. My wife gave up on saying no to switching phone cause I am addicted.
I hope to see the One preorders by the end of this week but I doubt it

Depends on the carrier.. if you're on CDMA it could be a pain switching devices.. but with GSM phones its pretty much just swiping sim cards..
But the user above hopes that HTC releases the HTC One in the next two weeks being that he have a 14 day return to exchange to another phone..
i would of had never done that, Maybe in the past when most carriers had a 30 day return period.. now most have a 14 day return..
Most likely the device will be out within a week or two after release.. because new customers have to start a new line the day they pre-order it.. if they was in the store.. (at least thats what Sprint did to me the time i pre-order my EVO 4G) maybe things have change and you can pre-order it and sign up the day it comes out..
I wish I could believe this... But I can't until there are solid release dates.

I ordered a s7 edge through verizon but I have an issue with the delivery date. They are saying they should hit the stores March 11, but I will be in Texas for my Sister in laws wedding from March 9th until the 12th. So the issue is should I keep my delivery for my home in Colorado or have it sent to Texas.
Do the preorders usually go out early? I would think it would only be fair if people who pre-ordered to get it before people can get it at the stores.
Well for T-Mobile USA they sent the S6 a week early for some users. Verizon tends to be on the dot maybe a day early in most cases.

I am a little bothered by this article saying there will only be 300,000 VR units given in the US. I wonder how many pre orders there will be. I think you receive a VR gear based off of what number you are in the pre order list, not whenever you happened to get your phone. If you get yours late, you might miss your shot. But the way they are advertising it makes it seem like nearly everyone will get one. I hope that is the case.

I am a little bothered by this article saying there will only be 300,000 VR units given in the US. I wonder how many pre orders there will be. I think you receive a VR gear based off of what number you are in the pre order list, not whenever you happened to get your phone. If you get yours late, you might miss your shot. But the way they are advertising it makes it seem like nearly everyone will get one. I hope that is the case.

I'm sure there will be a lot of cancellations if this is the case.
My AT&T preorder says shipping on the 7th to arrive on the 8th. Many sites are reporting preorders will be out 3 days early from the official launch on the 11th.
I just talked to 2 verizon reps and the first one said the phone should arrive on the 11th, and the other checked with her manager and said it would ship out on the eleventh and not arrive until the 14th. To me it makes no sense that the people who preordered will get there phone 2 days after the phone comes out in the store.
I am not throwing any fits because it is unfair, but this is a issue for me because I don't know where to have the phone shipped. And like my earlier post said, it seems that they are only giving out around 300,000 VR Gears, so if I am a couple days late getting it, I may lose my chance at getting the VR gear. ?

I hate that you have to wait until you get your phone to sign up for the VR gear. They said they have limited supply. Since it is going to other countries and carriers first I should hope there will be some left if I get mine a day late or something. One of the main reasons I ordered it was for the VR gear and I would be super ticked if they ran out!

That's incorrect. You can input your invoice that you purchased a device starting March 3rd on Samsungs website, I forgot where I found this information but if I remember I'll link it

Please do let me know! I keep hearing that you need your phone to do it. My receipt from Verizon does not have any info about the phone other than what it is, and the pre order number.

This makes it seem like you will need your phone. I sure hope there are plenty of VR units to go out to all the preorders. If not, there may be a lot of angry people.

I pre-ordered from Best Buy so they will ship the VR with the phone. Also getting a free 64gb SD card.
My S6 edge was delivered on March 30th (T-Mobile), and (I think) the release date was somewhere around April 10th. So, don't be too surprised if you get a shipped confirmation email in the next week or so.
Also plan on getting mine through BestBuy. Seems like less of a hassle than waiting "4-6" weeks for the GearVR to come in.
That does sound nice, but I didn't really want to fork out 300 and be stuck in a contract. I might contact samsung and verizon and try to get some assurance that there will be enough to go around. Otherwise, I might cancel and hold out to see what the V10 sequel has in store.

You can buy phones at BestBuy without a contract, that's what I'm doing.

That link actually proves that you need the IMEI and WiFi address.
First, they mention in the text on that page that you need to fill out the form and submit a receipt. That doesn't say what info is required for the form so it does not suffice as a counter-example, nor any evidence that the receipt is the only information you need.
Secondly, that page provides a link to the actual terms and clicking through you can see that the section on submitting the claim explicitly lists the IMEI number (3.b.iii) and the WiFi MAC address (3.b.iv) in addition to the receipt.
So, IMEI and WiFI MAC are certainly required to claim the Gear VR...
