I ordered a s7 edge through verizon but I have an issue with the delivery date. They are saying they should hit the stores March 11, but I will be in Texas for my Sister in laws wedding from March 9th until the 12th. So the issue is should I keep my delivery for my home in Colorado or have it sent to Texas.
Do the preorders usually go out early? I would think it would only be fair if people who pre-ordered to get it before people can get it at the stores.
Well for T-Mobile USA they sent the S6 a week early for some users. Verizon tends to be on the dot maybe a day early in most cases.
Anyone know how BestBuy handles pre-orders for online shipping?
IIRC, I pre-ordered the s6 edge last year from Verizon (online) and it came 1 day before the release date.
Follow my preorder thread in the discussion threads, I'll update it as soon as any news about early devices being shipped pops. Verified news, not he/she says.
Last year tmo sent devices a week early so I'd imagine the same again regardless.

I think you receive a VR gear based off of what number you are in the pre order list, not whenever you happened to get your phone. If you get yours late, you might miss your shot. But the way they are advertising it makes it seem like nearly everyone will get one. I hope that is the case.

I'm sure there will be a lot of cancellations if this is the case.
My AT&T preorder says shipping on the 7th to arrive on the 8th. Many sites are reporting preorders will be out 3 days early from the official launch on the 11th.
I just talked to 2 verizon reps and the first one said the phone should arrive on the 11th, and the other checked with her manager and said it would ship out on the eleventh and not arrive until the 14th. To me it makes no sense that the people who preordered will get there phone 2 days after the phone comes out in the store.
I am not throwing any fits because it is unfair, but this is a issue for me because I don't know where to have the phone shipped. And like my earlier post said, it seems that they are only giving out around 300,000 VR Gears, so if I am a couple days late getting it, I may lose my chance at getting the VR gear. ?

I pre-ordered from Best Buy so they will ship the VR with the phone. Also getting a free 64gb SD card.
My S6 edge was delivered on March 30th (T-Mobile), and (I think) the release date was somewhere around April 10th. So, don't be too surprised if you get a shipped confirmation email in the next week or so.
Also plan on getting mine through BestBuy. Seems like less of a hassle than waiting "4-6" weeks for the GearVR to come in.
That does sound nice, but I didn't really want to fork out 300 and be stuck in a contract. I might contact samsung and verizon and try to get some assurance that there will be enough to go around. Otherwise, I might cancel and hold out to see what the V10 sequel has in store.

That link actually proves that you need the IMEI and WiFi address.
First, they mention in the text on that page that you need to fill out the form and submit a receipt. That doesn't say what info is required for the form so it does not suffice as a counter-example, nor any evidence that the receipt is the only information you need.
Secondly, that page provides a link to the actual terms and clicking through you can see that the section on submitting the claim explicitly lists the IMEI number (3.b.iii) and the WiFi MAC address (3.b.iv) in addition to the receipt.
So, IMEI and WiFI MAC are certainly required to claim the Gear VR...

I got a call from At&T about a problem porting my number from Verizon (yes I am making the switch back). I mentioned they could not port yet as I don't have a phone because it is on pre-order. Cust Service said that I would be receiving it in a couple of days. I got the call yesterday so i am hoping to have my shiny new Atrix tomorrow or the next day.
Could be Cust Service has no idea what they are talking about but you can only hope

Hello everyone. I'm new to this section of XDA - I've had a Captivate for some time (4 of them actually) and have been quite dissapointed at times with it. Overall a great phone, but lots of un-necessary issues (imo) I just pre-ordered the Atrix 4G today and was told I could recieve it within the next 7-10 days at the soonest... I really cant wait to see what the devs here on XDA will cook up for this killer phone (based on specs). If the dev support is anything at all like it is for the Captivate - this is gonna be a great ride with the Atrix 4G
I am hoping we get alot of captivate devs to switch. I know there is a good chance that the bootloader will be encrypted, and that might keep the ROM chefs away, but I really hope we find away around it. i am going to be submitting as much of my capabilities to the effort, but I am new to android. I have done a small amount of program development on iOS with jailbreaks. so hopefully I can help.
Also, as I have said before, Devs are the lifeblood of these phones, and I am willing to put my money out there as a substitute for my experience. I am willing to help any motivated devs by donating $20-$40. Hopefully we can get a rich community surrounding the phone. that way when i am still using it 18 months down the road, I will still be happy with it.
I didn't get that email at all and I preordered on Sunday morning when the preorder option first popped up. I did get my confirmation email right after preordering and another email today ( 17th) , but not the one you have. Am I still going to get my atrix on the 22nd? Or did something get messed up?

I just received shipped email and it is showing delivery by 3pm on 2/21.
When I did the checkout on the AT&T site it told me it's scheduled to be delivered on or before March 6th... if people are getting them as early as the 21 or 22 I sure as hell hope mine arrives around that time as well.

I'd be seriously pissed if FedEx left it on the porch without signature and it got stolen after waiting for this phone. Good thing it's a holiday and I'm working from home all day!
I opted to have mine shipped to the att store - just incase i wouldnt be home when FedEx showed up. This way i dont have to worry about it being left on the front step and sitting there

I didn't see it either. But most likely, you could simply call after placing the order, and have the CSR make the change for you.

Which means AT&T has 6 days to fix this backorder issue, or preorders are going to get screwed.

I work for AT&T, I haven't seen that message that is going around about early release yet but it looks legit. It mentions internal systems that we use and we have all the price tags up in store. It's rare for use to put a spot on the wall for a phone that is several weeks out.

It also looks like they finally fixed the Premiere store for people wanting upgrades. Yesterday it would only let me upgrade to an iPhone (any variety) and some crappy Nokia. This morning it allowed me to upgrade to anything.

The salesguy told me that pre-ordering will start on Feb. 20 and that the actual launch day has yet to be confirmed because "google is still doing last minute tweaks to Honeycomb." They're hoping for February 27th.
Also, he said he is unaware of the wifi-only model--I assume he means when it will be released since we have confirmation that one does exist.
Any finally, most interesting, is that if you buy a 3G version, in order to upgrade it to 4G, Motorola will be sending you an empty box to ship the xoom back to them so they can make the upgrade. They are promising a one week turn-around.
This guy may be ill-informed but he sounded like he knew what he was talking about. Just an FYI to the community.
BTW: I live in Ft. Lauderdale, FL (called local BB)

no the guy was right, the xoom comes with a evdo radio only. they have to add the lte radio in there but its at no cost. their probably is an ota for 4g but its not the only requirement. im ready to pick one up my self but if it comes with better experience for me later then i can wait.

I was thinking it was some chip to replace, then I stumbled on another tech site that simply stated it was a software patch.
Sending the Xoom to MOTO for chip replacement is going to cost MOTO 100's of thousands of dollars; i dont get it. Unless we have to pay for shipping.
If sending it in is a requirement I think they need to disclose that in advance. If I was buying one and the LTE upgrade was a factor, I wouldn't want to have to send it in to be upgraded and be without it for a week or more.
Think I'll wait longer for the WiFi model than deal with that.
I could have sworn that they said the LTE update would be OTA during CES, but I admit, I could be wrong.

it wasnt the link i was looking for but i know androidcentral is also a credible source but if you search for it you will see that it needs a hardware upgrade. As for the upgrades costing motorola, they are probably already getting their cut from the price of the xoom. Sanjay said the price of the xoom is justifiable because its 4g upgradeable which might mean they already figured in the cost of 4g upgrade with original price of xoom. It sucks for us because those who arent in 4g coverage are getting charged for it but its a smart move by moto since 100% of the tablets they sell wont be all coming back.
The more I read, the more I want to wait for wifi only. I hear that Costco has a 90 day return policy. I want the tablet so bad, I may spring for one and hope the wifi model comes out b4 the 90 days...

Good point. I would have done the same thing if I was them. Probably only going to get a 40% return, if that, for the 4G upgrade. It's all just added revenue to them. And once the LTE upgrade is installed on new out-the-door units, they'll still be making a larger profit due to the higher price.
The $200 difference between WiFi and the 3G model make a lot more sense now if you've got to send it in.

Did you talk to the store manager or just sales rep? Let me know the name and I will try and dig a little more. {have several contacts in Minneapolis}
You should know that you can't trust a single thing a BB employee tells you, even if he was the store manager. Only trust that which is on an official handout. If that employee pulls out a printout like the leaked info.. then you can trust him. To test, just call the same store every 2 hours and see how often you get an employee swear by something different than another employee.
What's more annoying is when you know they have been giving info around preorder time, and they play stupid.
If Xoom will be available for pre-order this weekend, I would think they would have announced something by now. What do you guys think?

nah they dont announce pre-orders until they are ready for situations that just happened. if they would have announced that pre-order for the 17th and didnt have them ready, then people would have been raging all over the place just like how they did with the thunderbolt.

Well I registered for updates on motorola/xoom site and I am supposed to be the first to know when it is available! I guess we continue to wait.
I stopped by BB today. All the reps said presale starts tomorrow and device in stores on 24th (though they didn't know much, including price, I informed them haha - but recent emails stated these dates). Asked them if they matched price, incase Costco is $100 cheaper, said it depends. I would think they'd match competition though...
Also, I don't recall the Atrix presale being announced officially until the day of - I'd imagine the Xoom being done the same way.
On another post, about wirefly, someone said something about Verizon starting Xoom sales on the 23, anyone else hear this?

Everyone that has come into COSTCO talking about can i get a printout of this price so someone will match it, comes back saying they didn't match it. Most business will say price match except so and so and so...one being warehouse clubs.
I called 3 BB's tonight: two of them told me they are doing pre-orders tomorrow, and the other one (the closest one to me) said they are not doing a pre-order at all.

My pre-order date was the 25th at like 7am.
I couldn't get the system to work the first couple days...didn't pre-order till the 27th... order says processing

Hope your right. I went to my local t mobile store on Saturday and the rep told me that my note 4 should be delivered on the 16th or 17th. He said he was pretty confident of that. Sidenote.. on my order status page under order history it does say backorder where it use to say pending shipping.....hopefully that's because it is not available yet.
I order mine by 9:06 am that day.
I doubt not many people would want a phone this big + its not an apple.

Mine doesn't say backordered, but it really doesn't matter. Their whole system is messed up.
I preordered mine Sept. 27th. Then on Oct. 3rd my status went to being processed and on back order. That's when I did an online chat and I posted the results in the OP. This is for the Note 4.

Stores get them sometimes a full week before release dates. Sometimes they even do a "soft release" when they have it in stock but not on display. You have to know they have it in stock and request it though and there is no way to know that unless a rep tells you or you are in there asking every day.
I got my vibrant (sgs1) this way.... was in store looking to upgrade from my G1 to a g2... saw someone looking at a vibrant right next to me playing Avatar on it n I was like.. "ummmmmm, what phone is that?" Told it was a vibrant, not officially on sale till the next week but I could get it now if I requested it by name cause they had them in stock and were doing a "soft release".
nice thats next friday. hopefully they dont sell out.
same thing happened last year which is why I just go to the store...usually a small line, but you will get one (this is not the iphone)
their online system is whack

Yea, I don't think I'm going to pre-order again in the future, this whole process does seem messy.
For my situation, I have a 4 Year Anniversary so I decided I'd get us a pair of Note 4s. I called the rep and one I was just going to order on my account and the other I was just paying outright for it. Well the rep couldn't process them both at the same time because it triggered some fraud warning. (Oh I was also ordering one of the WiFi calling routers). So after a bit of a hold she came back and said she would have to separate each item and buy them on separate days.
So that day I got the Black one ordered, the next day she called back and got the white one ordered, and finally the 3rd day she called back to order to the WiFi calling router. At that point everything looked great, all orders pending, I was a happy camper (though still wasn't liking the fact that it appears I would get it a couple days after release due to shipping, which after reading the posts here seems like that might be debatable and they might actually arrive early).
Well fast forward a couple days, I was checking the orders cause I'm crazy and impulsive like that and just noticed an update. On my Black N4 and Router they both say 'Pending' still. My White N4 however is now saying backorder! Having a bit of a freakout cause its an anniversary present and timing is critical. And to make matters worse, everyone I seem to talk to says something a bit different and so I've come to the conclusion that nobody really knows. Some say 'Oh our system just says that, but there will be plenty available' or 'I'm sure it will still be sent on time because we haven't had that many orders come in' to 'Oh, yes there has been a very high demand, maybe you can give the one that does make it and yours will just have to wait' or 'The system had a minor glitch and has now been corrected, because of this we now have an update on our stock and thus many orders have been changed accordingly'.
Sooooo yea. Here is keeping my fingers crossed, but just wanted to share that on my account I have two order and one says Pending and the other says Backorder.
Edit: Just to let you know this order process was on 9/24 (black one), 9/25 (white one), 9/26 (router).
Left my local bestbuy last night and a couple blueshirts there told me that they would be releasing the S7 and S7 Edge this Monday. I was pre-ordering and asked when it came out and they told me I could pick it up on monday.
So if you preordered from bestbuy i'd recommend calling them and seeing if they are also releasing it early.
I don't know how truthful BestBuy is. I got my pre-ordered T-Mobile S7 on the 3rd of March and was told by my local BestBuy store that they had the Otterbox cases in stock for the S7. So I drive over to the store and find out that they have the cases in stock but won't be releasing them until the 11th of March because that's when the phones will be released. I will NOT be going back to BestBuy again!

I bought a surround sound system from them a month ago. He told me i was gonna get a discount and hed hook me up with an hdmi and optical cable. Then he was tryin to talk me into joinin their "rewards program" it was like every $100 you get a dollar or something. I was like, "it'd take me so long, im good" but i bought a tv a couple months before so he said i could get credit for that aswell. So finally i said, "well, your not gonna send me a bunch of emails if i sign up are you". He said, " haha noooooo"!
Long story kinda shortened.
I paid full price for the SS system.
I got a wopping $5 off a used hdmi cable. Which was $20
Paid full price for optical audio cable $25
Then at the end i said oh can we add my tv to the rewards program. (Of course the salesman left so i was left with some kid to check me out)
He said, "oh man we'd have to call customer service and i dont think theyd do it anyway"

The following weeks im flooded with best buy emails, i unsubscribe at least 10 times with no stop to it. Finally have to call a 800 number and scream at them to make it stop.

big thread on reddit about this: multiple best buy mobile employees confirmed it, and users who went there confirmed it. people got calls to pickup on monday too.
pisses me off bc i chose shipping instead of in store (for the first time ever with best buy) bc i was worried they'd run out of stock before my preorder was fulfilled, so i wouldn't be able to walk in friday and get it. did shipping, thinking they'll def have enough in a warehouse.
yeah, and now they release early lol. so mad.
Pre ordered from Best buy about 2 hours after they started taking pre orders and I haven't received notification yet.

You should. I heard about this from https://www.reddit.com/r/GalaxyS7/comments/490phl/best_buy_preorders_go_out_monday/, and went to my local best buy to be sure. They had no idea what I was talking about, and reaffirmed the 11th as the release date. This was yesterday, today my GF got a call that our phones have arrived and that we can pick them up tomorrow.

My preorder confirmation said they would Email me when the items were ready. By chance, did they mention if the Gear VR was ready for pickup also?

Same thing happened to me. They had a Samsung rep there and I even showed him the phone, still wouldn't sell it. I went to U.S. Cellular, AT&T and even the new T-Mobile store in my town but neither had cases yet. Verizon store had the stuff out on display already so i bought my case and screen protector there.
I wondered who the *#&@ cares if I buy a piece of plastic for a phone that isn't "out yet"? I am giving you money, why do you care?! It was dumb as f.

Just got off the phone with my local BestBuy, they said that it should be no problem. She mentioned it would be FCFS based on available stock, dunno if this means you can get one shipped later, or if you are sol.
Well...that's kind of strange. The Best Buy website now shows the expected release date for the phone on my order as: "Null"?
The other 2 items still show expected release of 3-11-2016.
Edit: They just now changed the expected release date to 3-7-2016.

Yeah. I ordered two actually, got two seperate emails. I tried looking them up, but it says the name and phone number are wrong, didnt say anything about order number being wrong.
Edit: nevermind, it was under my old name. My att acct is kinda wonky haha.
