Hi all,
About a month ago I started to have a problem attaching to win mob. I thort it was because the evaluation copy of win 7 was ending. I finally got enough cash to by a copy of win7 home premium which I installed now I cant get the touch screen to work on win 7 side and win mob still won’t attach I have gone through heaps of threads but nothing seem to work. When using the USB tool it sound like it connects but win7 doesn’t pick any thing up at all.
Can anyone help?
I don't think Win 7 Home comes with the Windows Mobile Device Centre (the replacement for activesync) so you need to install that before Win7 can see the WinMo side.
Hope that helps

Hey folks,
I've got a problem syncing my Blackstone to my laptop, which runs Vista x64. The Blackstone syncs with XP perfectly though, but Vista tells me the device is not recognised. Does anyone else suffer from this or does someone have a solution?
Very easy. You have to update WMDC to 6.1.

Nope. Won't work. Windows still doesn't recognize my device.

Hi, I have it working on Windows Vista x64. I do not remember I had to do anything to get it to work, besides downloading the Microsoft Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1 Driver for Windows Vista x64. You even get the HTC touch HD picture in Mobile Device Center

Ditto, no problems with vista 64 here
*sigh* Then i'll just have to reinstall it i guess. See what happens.
Active Sync Windows Vista x64
When you connect your device it asks you for the type of connection
"active Sync" "hard disk" "internet sharing" you must select active sync then everything should be just fine ....
Actual Phones in use
HTC Thouch HD, T-mobile mda compact 2
Had that too, popped in one of the 2 black discs and installed MDC.
then it worked.

Same here. Two things to try.
1. PC: reinstalled Windows Mobile Device Center (repair option);
2. Htc: uncheck advanced network in USB setting (USB aan PC).
I've tried everything in this thread. But Windows Mobile Device Center will still not recognize my HD
edit: I solved it. I had to use a different USB port. I had to plug it directly to my pc, was using a hub before.
Good Morning to all,
Firstly hello to all on the forum, got my Touch HD at the weekend and have already found this forum very useful, especially in getting the favourtie people pictures to stop looking so crap.
I now have a problem I need to ask about. I have plugged my HD into my Vista 64bit machine and it picks up fine, lets me access the HD as if it was an external source. I then managed to set it up via activesync, not through choise just couldnt find anything else. Got it connected and syncing via bluetooth as well.
I have now come into work and plugged it into my work XP SP2 machine and it starts installing all the windows mobile stuff and then comes up with could not complete blah blah, when you click for more info its an unknown device.
Is this a driver issue, i.e. do I need to download one for my XP machine to recognise modern day tech?
Have got the number for HTC support but thought I would ask here first as I really like the way everyone manages to explain everything so clearly.
Thanks in advance
Jody
You should just have to install Active Sync 4.5 on your XP machine and off you go.
Appoligies if you did this, but you didn't mention above
If you still having problems, what's the full error text?
Ta
Dave
Activesync is installed, and has been uninstalled and re-installed just to make sure.
The message states that the USB device is not recognised by Windows and need to try re-installing it.
Thing is, it did just about manage a connection earlier ActiveSync showed connecting and then popped up and said unable to connect to device press ok to troubleshoot and ran some scans.

Had similar problems, but it was the Windows XP firewall blocking activecync
Thanks, but we stopped the windows firewall client when we were investigating this anyway.
Possible solution
Good day,
My XP didnt detect HD as well. Im using Active sync 4.5. To work around this, go to:
Settings>USB to PC>Enable faster data sync
Uncheck this option. This solved my problem.
Good luck. Cheers
Hello, have tried unticking that box as well.
I have uninstalled Activesync again, and reinstalled off of the CD. All installs ok, plug the device in for the first time and select activesync on the handset, it installs the pocketUSB Snc on the PC and then comes up your device could not be installed properly. Open device manager and the PocketUSB Sync shows with a yellow explanation mark on it saying that the device could not be started.
Have now also tried it on an XP SP3 VM Machine, it originally kicked up same windows error. Then ActiveSync on the VM and device showed connecting, then they both stopped and no further.
Problem fixed.... Useful hint for anyone reading this... dont use a different miniUSB cable, or make sure you certainly dont use a cheap one.... I borrowed someone's in the office who was sinking another HTC device and it worked first time.
Thanks to all your inputs
Jody
Hi All
Well something very bad just happened to my shift! In short it fell out a car door and got run over (Not the recommended way to compress files!!)(Sorry about the poor humour!)
Any way the LCD is smashed and it won’t load in to windows the hard drive wont work.
It does appear that win mob still works so I’m hoping to maybe get some data back some how
My question, does the vga port work in win mob yet?
any one got any thorts on how to recover the files on wm side?
( I know it its just about hopless but I thort i would try )

ouch that hurts... the best thing to do is to open the shift and take the HDD .. then use an adaptater to use it as external drive.
the VGA is no working and I guess it will never work from winmob... sorry
Since you want data from the WM side, but can't boot Vista as the hard drive does not work.... I would try to boot windows from an USB stick :
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/windows-pocket,1113.html
or see google
http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=navclient&gfns=1&q=windows+on+usb
get external screen working on Windows Side (Via VGA), boot WM and hope USB tools will auto run and connect, copy files.
I just upgraded my desktop software to Windows 7 from XP but now I can't sync with my HD2. I'm using 32 bit Win7 and Outlook 2007 and when I plug in the USB cable from my HD2 I get the error message, "Driver not found". Anyone else have this problem?

I'm using Vista and had a similar problem. Solved by installing Windows Mobile Device Centre. This is needed instead of activesync.
Yes - there have been tonnes of issues with Win 7. See for example this thread
I tried every possible solution. In the end, I had to re-install windows 7. That fixed it up right away.
A few of the possible solutions are USB related so do a search on how to uninstall and re-install USB drivers in Device Manager.
A pos solution.
In your control panel click on your device manager icon , scroll down to portable devices and uninstall all of the devices found within this cat.
Reboot your computer, i then have to re pair the phone to the computer. This works for me in Vista , ive found that if i use different usb slots to sync my phone things just seem to get messed up. I think this may work as well in W7, i use W7 sometimes and things seem to be simular.
Hope this helps
Regards
Hi all,

Also this think keeps eating the batteries any suggestions on how to extend battery life? I am using the 6.5 version of windows and 3.37.10 something and 3nfs and something else that starts with DCAAM could not read it all fast enough
Are you running windows 7 or windows xp. 32 bit or 64 bit...........
vista..32 bit
I am pretty sure I am using the right sync-er device
It was loaded directly from windows and said to use with vista 32 bit

Try to get an XP computer. Also, if your battery is draining, you may need to change it. Vogue's battery life is usually not bad.
