Flash 10.1 support (1H 2010)
Fixed problem with “crazy screen” / Resolution of cross multitouch

looks kinda familiar.

Yeah, it doesn't look credible since the timeline is supposed to be May/June and Adobe has already said that Flash 10.1 isn't coming until the last half of the year.
Just another example of one friggin' blogger with his head up his arse, regurgitating old, debunked BS like it's all brand new and half a gillion other airheads with keyboards regurgitating that.

The CEO did say that, but it was later clarified:
In a communication with Phone Scoop, Adobe has tidied up the meaning of its CEO's words from a recent interview with Fox Business. In it, Shantanu Narayen repeatedly tells us to expect new Android, WebOS and BlackBerry devices with integrated Flash compatibility during the second half of 2010, but Adobe has now explained that he didn't mean that the Flash delivery schedule will be delayed, not at all. You see, Narayen was talking about hardware coming out in the second half, but Flash 10.1 itself will still be arriving "to first mobile platforms including Android ... before the end of the first half of 2010." Interesting that only Android is mentioned explicitly, but at least this provides some reassurance to any fretting Flash fans out there.

The only thing I can confirm is that Google is definitely taking steps towards making JIT a reality. It would be a shocker for them to not release a 'BIG' JIT enabled branch before or during IO2010, it hopefully will be built into the IO2010 Gifts we're receiving, the only concern is how quickly we can get a JIT enabled ROM. I will not be using an OTA update.
Hopefully when I receive my device I will have something to share.
SOURCE: http://code.google.com/events/io/2010/sessions/jit-compiler-androids-dalvik-vm.html

JIT is almost definitely enabled for Froyo.
If you look at top linpack scores, they show N1 with Froyo scoring 40+ Just for those who don't know, stock is ~7. So it is a significant speed increase. This is likely only accomplished using JIT and maybe even Dalvick cache turbo as well.
Exciting stuff indeed. The cool thing is that we will have 2.2 before anyone and it will be FOREVER before Sense is working with 2.2 (absed on how long it took for 2.1 to get ported), so kudos to us with N1's!

Jit is definitely possible, if you look on Linpack's top scores, the 4 top people are using Froyo - such speeds are rare without overclocking, or Jit enabled ROMs (unless there are alternative methods). Froyo could also quite speedy. Though, those could be faked. I see Froyo coming soon.

Well, that's cool news. Still, without any real confirmation from Google about a 2.2 release, the rest is speculation, however much sense it seems to make.

It was sarcasm and a swipe at the iPhone, which will finally be getting those basic features with iPhone OS 4.0.
As for the OP and what not, it would be awesome, but the sources on this stuff are not reliable at all. They just spew "reasonable" predictions as if it is actual news, and eventually are right, not because they are even reporting, it is just that if you lie enough times, you eventually have to tell the truth, even if in fact you are actually lying, it just turns out it is a lie that happens to be true.
Also, I thought FroYo was going to be 2.5?

All i hope for is that the FM transmitter is enabled. & maybe JIT

wow, still no official 2.2?

Getting kinda hard to believe that they were this close to releasing the consumer version of 2.2- and still no dice. With this kind of delay I really hope they have added a few surprises. With that being said, my only change would be to allow custom colors of the notification bar (hint, black) and custom color track ball colors. With these improvements I would have no reason to root....
Peace.
I changed maybe a dozen lines in my build.prop and this thing might as well be final. My phone is faster, more stable, and has more features than with the "current" official build. I'm content to sit tight and recommend you do the same

Where did you read from a Official Google Press release that one was close?
Google has stated that hey are working quite hard on Froyo, and making sure all the kinks are ironed out before the official release. I read this in my news reader, and therefore do not feel like going back to grab it. Rest assured, they are actually trying.
Edit: Never mind, found it:

NEVER underestimate how much freedom sitting behind a computer allows a whiner to cry like a baby about things they have no control over...
If we were all in a classroom and they kept whining about Froyo like they do online, we would just kick the sh*t out of them to shut them up
I cant believe how so many people are impatient for 2.2. It's not owed to you. It releases whenever it releases. If it does not, oh well, you still have a great phone. Getting a free 2.2 upgrade is just an added bonus on top of what you have.
For build.prop need root right? Debating going back after my swap put me on 2.1 again
The FRF50 build that was leak was barely put together.
In three weeks they have moved 19 new builds. FRF69 is the latest.
They were never "close to release".
In my opinion Google has LIFETIME immunity from complaints for being such a generous company and making Google Maps Navigation free...

I'd expect this kind of attitude from an iPhone user and not some one in the Android camp.
The Android platform is still young and needs to evolve a lot more, especially in UI refinement to become a mainstay mobile platform. Updating Android to 2.2 is not an 'added bonus', it's a necessary incremental evolution if Google is to compete with Apple, Palm/HP and RIM.

Yeah... answer to this question please.
Courtesy and respect go a long way. One other thing. Nothing you get from google is free. It charges for its services and the products you buy have those costs built in. Maps is not free, nav is not free, you pay for it every day every time you buy a product. There is no free cup of coffee. Ever. Corporations are in it to make money and nothing else. Google is not your friend, nothing they output sees the light of day unless they believe the profit is there. They fully plan on getting their pound of flesh and we owe them nothing. Anyone who thinks otherwise has yet to attain their 14th birthday.
I'm running FRF50 now and it's good. I'd love a final, but I'd rather see 2.2 on as many different devices as possible. For as much as I want 2.2... I want everyone to get it more. I've seen people stuck on 1.5 and 1.6, it's scarey

Then nandroid, and go back to 2.1. 2.2 is obviously not official yet. It will be released soon though, and I have a feeling it will include a lot of hidden features. Perhaps they sent the current 2.2 as a BETA for people like us to test. We say "I like it, but I want ____ feature" and maybe they will add it in the official release. Who knows.
But don't complain about it.

Froyo's out Gingerbread is in

Well the last craze to get updated to Froyo seems as though it may end up being short lived as I came across this today: http://www.androidcodex.com/gingerb...edium=rss&utm_camp aign=gingerbread-is-coming
2 months for a GB release, then we wait for root (which might be very quick) and/or wait for HTC to Sense-ify GB, then we get it on the Evo. Froyo's got a few months left in it - about as long as Eclair had on the Evo.
Or maybe it will live up to the hype and HTC will leave it alone and just push it without a new UI.
Personally, I can't wait for 3.0. I'm really hoping it comes a lot closer to being as nice looking and easy to use as iOS. I came from an iPhone and loved it, but I love Android a little bit more; I don't know why I like it more, but I do, however, the apps are really ****ty when compared to iOS and the UI is pretty rough in some areas - sense or aosp.
Google really needs to step it up and hire some graphic designers that can't code at all.
Whoot Whoot !!!
bring it on Google
Sent from my HTC Evo
that's pretty cool. I wonder where they got their sources from though? I really would like to see what kind of UI google puts on gingerbread though. And of course, whether or not motorola/HTC/samsung will still blur/sense/touchwiz it...

I think the statement was that Google was aiming for UI that was nice enough to DISCOURAGE manufacturers from layering their own environment over the top, which would hopefully save resources.

Where are the Gingerbread leaks.

Seems like if Gingerbread is suppose to be official before the end of the year, something should have leaked by now. An early test build, some screenshots, maybe some video? All we have seen are a couple of shopped screenshots that show 3.0 as the build
Someone out there must know or have seen something Throw us a bone here!
It hasn't been leaked because you touch yourself.
Because people don't like breaking NDAs and losing their jobs?
Google will release it when they release it.
+1 to the poster above.
And judging by Froyo experience, I guess Nexus users will see "semi-official" test builds way before the official release, once these builds make it to beta stage.

a google campus recruiter was at my university today. he was playing with a nexus one so i told him that i have one also. he said his was different so I asked him why and peeked at his screen and he suddenly pulls down the notification bar and says "oh it has at&t". this seemed like a silly reason so i asked what build he was running and he told me he couldn't say. I asked if it was gingerbread and he said yes. i asked him if he could tell me about new features and he said no.

I have been hoping leaks would start soon considering Gingerbread is supposed to be unveiled in mid October. I expect to see devices in the latter part of Nov.
Just like when 1.0 was unveiled and 2.0 was unveiled. They were followed by a device about a month after.

To be fair though, .1 updates are never huge upgrades, just have back-updates and various new features that generally aren't massive (1.5 > 1.6, 2.0 > 2.1, 2.1 > 2.2, etc etc). The tablet remark makes sense, because if what's been said on various tech sites in the past is true, 3.0 will be made with tablets in mind, as opposed to 2.2/.3, which are not really optimized for tablets at all. Personally, I'm a bit excited to see what happens with NFC, as I am sort of into the idea of never carrying a credit card again.
Does 2.3 have requirements? I heard that either 2.3 or 3.0 will but I think its gonna be 3.0 since its a .7 update instead of a .1 update.

This isn't always the case but in general naming practice the code base for a X.1, X.2, X.3, X.N, series of a program are the same and the revision steps are bug fixes and maybe small upgrades. When a name changes from 1.X to 2.X that usually indicates a major revision to the base code such as a rewrite.
Such as, 1.5 to 1.6, minor step, few new goodies mostly bug fixes, 1.6 to 2.1, major jump tons of changes and bug fixes, 2.1 to 2.2, mostly bug fixes but also included major Dalvek VM upgrade, the step from 2.2.1 to 2.3 is mostly bug fixes and a few updates. The next major revision should be 3.0 and from what I have read and heard it will have a major focus on larger format applications beyond cell phones such as Tablets and Media devises such as Tv's and Google Tv.
well the evo devs are already working on a rom for us. glad i bought an evo when i did. i don't think the hero can handle 2.3.

That would be odd.
My phone seems to handle each update better than the last.

Gingerbread and Expectations? (Disscussion)

So what's everyone's expectations when the carpet rolls out? Also do you think Samsung will finally get a release done good this time? (or another froyo?)
Idk about everyone else but I love reading other people's opinions, So that's my partial reason of this thread. Feel free to have any and all Gingerbread discussion to take place here also.
CRT Animation?
New theme's?
New ROMs?
New kernels?
Better Android OS?
unknown possibility's?
All of the goodies Above?
P.S - Just because we have Gingerbread when its out, it doesn't mean we will finally get a CM7 port. same goes with MIUI and AOSP.
I expect it to make us feel worth the wait on a certain level if it takes advantage of hardware acceleration like we thought it could. It hurts that market research never makes the best hardware prevail, but this is the oldest thought in the computing book. I think it's nothing but what this phone was made for and we'll have a ton of fun with it. It hurts to be ahead of the curve sometimes or "It hurts to be this good."
I just want that damn crt animation lmao
I want to be more up to date with all the possible mod's being easier to port over.
I'm hoping for better overall battery life. Better stability, CRT animation, in depth battery use statistics, and better copy/paste.
I'm not much of a rom/kernal flasher, i just like to root and get rid of bloatware.
Having said that i'd love if we got a fully functional cyanogenmod just so we have better support going forward.
From what I've read I'm expecting an incremental improvement in performance and battery life over stock Froyo. From what I've seen on EE03, there are some minor improvements in the Sammy apps. I don't expect CRT animation out of the box since I think that's a Nexus thing, but I expect it to be an easy addon. I also expect a few bugs in the first release, followed by a clean-up release about a month later.
1. Sammiches
2. Sexual Favors
3. CRT Animation
4. Overscroll
That's all i like that's in Gingerbread..
I want the sexual favors. LOL. I just want some overscroll and some awesome custom kernels.

What others have said plus possibly support for FM radio (for real). Since it has been available in the leaks, but not too many people seems to be able to get it to work, I wonder if samsprint ironed out the kinks in it.
Or was this just something ACS added to Swiss Cheese?
Also looking forward to legitimate netflix and all the other fun goodies that come with GB.
FM radio was added support by samsung

FM radio on the leaks we've been playing with have been taken from other phones and added by the XDA chefs if I'm not mistaken. Nobody has actually made it work, which leads me to believe that it's disabled in hardware at the request of Sprint just like the TP2.

EVO 3D has FM radio
I expect that I still wont be able to look up in google street view Sensor Debug says the pitch never goes below -90. It should go up (down?) to -180
It only ever worked right on my phone with stock eclair rom.

U mistakingly hit horizontal calibration from the display menu. It's buggy. U need to recalibrate... upside down. Search the wiki, and/or youtube. Works fine....
