Problems receiving SMS on HTC phones - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

I have had the same problem on two HTC devices, one, a Wizard and the other a Magic.
When receiving text messages from certain phones (Samsung Cleo on the Bell Mobility Network), many texts I receive say "message format not supported".
The person with the Cleo gets all my messages. I'm on Fido and she's on Bell Mobility. When I put my sim in any of my other phones, iphone, samsung blackjack, I get all the messages.
Any ideas what's going on here? It's only the HTC devices I have that have trouble receiving texts. It's very random. Sometimes I'll get 3 texts in a row, then miss one, other times, I won't get four or five in a row and then I'll get one.
Thanks for any help.
Tom

In case anyone else encounters this problem. The use of the carriage return on the samsung cleo in an sms messages causes it not to be received by either my HTC Magic or Imate K-Jam. Both of those phones give me a "message format not supported" error when someone using a cleo uses a carriage return in their message.

IPAQ 914

having a strange problem with my new HP Ipaq 914 (windows mobile 6.1), I am using a O2 payAsyouGo sim (phones sim free)..
Everytime I send a sms mesage I get the message "your text message cannot be sent" appear on the screen and then "message not sent.please try again?" in red writing on the screen. Yet altho its saying message cannot be sent my messages ARE getting through so i,m told ! altough when i send long messages the receiver gets missing text message after afew lines.
The message cannot be sent alert happens in about 6 out of ten messages sent and is very annoyng as i,m never sure if they get thru or not witout ringing to find out.. I,ve got all the settings correct as far as i no with the call center and user password, also got it set as wap2 on the mms settings, altho i,ve tried wap1.2 no differance, the gateway and server addresses are correct otherwised no text's would be send at all.
I,ve been pulling my air over this since i got the phone at Xmas..
Hope someone can shed some light on this ..
Have you checked with your service provider? is it a service issue with the cellphone company?
yea i checked with the provider, all my settings are correct, it does the same with other sims an my sim works in other phones..
Sometimes it says message was sent and other times , (mostly) its says not sent, yet they are all sending ! very annoying
I have had that issue with my old Toshiba G900 and HP 914C.
It is about the your sim providers credit message service.
After a call and after sending a message, you would get a service message about your remaining credit. That pop-up messages are not suitable with some of the wm6.1 builds of some devices.
Also you messages are sent although you get that message.

hero sms

When I recieve texts over a certain length it cuts them off. My old Verizon phone sent them in two parts. I was wondering id there was any way to recieve the whole text
Generally it's not the phone's problem, it's the carrier's problem. I think AT&T sends it in multiple 160-character messages, and so does Sprint, but I know a few people from Verizon who send me texts that get cut off after 160 characters.

cannot send sms

My friend recently bought an hd mini today, and all seems to be working well - except the sending of sms messages. texts can be received, and phone calls made and received.
I tried installing the Zeynee "disable htc messaging" tweak for manilla 2,5 but it still wouldn't send.
the phone is running manilla 2.5.3, and the offical rom 1.07 WWE. I'm adverse to installing a custom rom on his phone as it could be more trouble than its worth.
he's already been in to the shop where he bought it (network providers shop) but they couldnt find anything amiss in the settings. I compared his settings to that of my hd2 on the same network and it seems in order. there was no entry in the message centre number field, although as stated before texts were arriving. I tried setting it to the same as mine but they just hung in the outbox.
has anyone had a similar problem and knows how to fx it?
network is Sure on the isle of man, if it's any use.
I noticed my mini wouldn't send sms, if the country is entered with two leading zeros "0049...", but sends without trouble, if the number is entered like "+49...", although both ways should work fine

[Q] Some phones wont receive my text messages?

So this may be a question i'll direct at my service provider (Sprint), but I thought I would ask here too.
When I try to send text messages to my dad (AT&T Iphone), he never receives them. When I try to send them to my mom or sister (both AT&T Iphone), they do receive them.
My dad can send them to me and I receive them fine, they just never show up on his phone. I've never had an issue with anyone else receiving them.
Has anyone else ever experienced this?

[Q] Truncated SMS. Bell Mobility or Atrix?

I was hoping someone can help me here. I have a problem with my received sms messages being truncated. I phoned Bell and asked them, and they said its the Atrix. However I sent myself a sms, and it was not truncated. I just wanted to know if its Bell or the Atrix; and how I fix it.
Thanks!

Truncated?
I thought that was a mathematical term not...
What exactly happens again?
It's a Bell issue. I used to be with Bell on a Samsung Galaxy S and experienced the same thing. Same issue on Telus too

The messages are coming in broken up. If its over 160 characters it comes in 1/2 and 2/2 and so on. Now today, they are not even coming in order. I just got some in this order, part 4,3,2,1 and then 5.
I spent 10 minutes on the phone with Motorola Canada, and they confirmed that the phone should not be doing this at all, and its carrier related.
I also spent 30 minutes on the phone with Bell for the second time today, and they tried to blame all the other carriers, saying its the way they break up the messages to send. I had 2 "work" phones that were both with bell, and neither one did this, so I really don't know what its related to. They told me to call back in a week if it does not fix itself.
Plh36 - Did you ever phone for support? Did they ever give you a reason why it does this? I would have stuck with Rogers and just bought the phone from Bell had I known that they can't handle their sms messages properly

I'm on Bell (with an HTC Desire Z, not sure why I'm on this forum) and I get this problem sometimes. I figured it was due to the sending party. Dumbphones and CDMA phones tend to split up messages. Try getting someone also on a GSM network and a smartphone to try and send you a message. I tested it right now with a friend who has an iPhone 3GS on Fido, and I received a non-split message.
This message splitting is normal for Bell - I had this happening with my HTC Touch and Samsung Galaxy S.
Some SMS programs allow you to change how the message is or isn't broken up. Use GO SMS. I'm on Rogers but my friends use GO SMS or other messaging apps and we never have this problem. But I know what you're talking about. It's very annoying.

This. Its because CDMA limit sms to 160 characters so the companies that still employ CDMA as part of their network will limit them. There is nothing you can do, its the network, not the phone.

Hi, this is a problem with your atrix, very many people in Brazil have the same problem, see:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1068693&highlight=Brazilian
I recommend you using GO SMS Pro as a replacement of your stock sms, and this would solve ur problem.
P.S. i'm using atrix on koodo
Fuaaaarkkkkk I'm on Bell and this happens to me now too. It's a nuisance!! Happens when people from Rogers send long text messages.
Maybe I'll phone and complain, score something good like a discount or retention rate plan lol
