hey guys trying to flash my first WM(US T-MO HD2) phone but its not working out.i followed every procedure given by MSKIP but i keep getting this message after pressing next on HSPL2_RUN: "CRITICAL ERROR,FLOW:00000003,ERROR CODE:00000004,DESCRIPTION:BAD MODEL ID".i turned off antivirus and restarted my windows 7 then connected my device with WINDOWS MOBILE DEVICE CENTER v.6.1 and then executed the HSPL2_RUN but didnt work out.bootloader screen shows up at the bottom saying usb and the phone didnt brick it just stayed in bootloader till i took the battary out and restarted the phone.what am i doing wrong please correct me.thank u
pretty sure thats the wrong hspl2.
Use teh link in my sig to get hspl1024 and compare it to the one you have,
I agree sounds like the wrong hspl. When you actually flash it the hspl should be 2.08.0000 not 2.0.0000 as the unlocker provides 2 options.

or did you mean to say "When you actually flash it the hspl should be 2.08.hspl not 2.08.0000 as the unlocker provides 2 options."
I was referring to the actual ruu, when the window displays on your pc it needs to be the 2.08.000 hspl, once the phone is unlocked the spl line will read 2.08.hspl like you stated.
thanx guys i will try SAMSAMUAL's HSPL2_1024_RUN and c if it goes through.thanx
thank u SAMSAMUEL that was the right HSPL.thanks to u and other i've finally succcessfully flashed my first WM phone.

hspl3 is just an updated hspl1024, updated to support more model id's. You can use either. hspl1024 is on page 99 of the HSPL thread, however yes, you can use hspl3 in my sig. choose 2.08.hspl not 2.08.0000(0000 is stock)
When you say so you can switch to android, you dont mean the youtube vid and connected site with the 'android beta OS installer' do you? which says you need hspl 1.42.hspl? cos thats a fake.
Please People...I really need help here..My phone make me crazy...
I try to flash my EU HTC HD2 with Android Nand rom and i have problem with that so i decide to put everithing on default with stock rom...
I download it and try but all the time error 290, and i read and read and somebody said that i need to have 1.42.HSPL (in that moment mine was 2.08. HSPL) ...so i do that with the HSPL2_Run and all procedure to back my hd2 to STOCK was faild again...
So i decide to turn beck HSPL to 2.08.HSPL and install some CustomRUU but from that point i have the same
CRITICAL ERROR

ERROR CODE:00000004
DESCRIPTION:BAD MODEL ID....
I use HSPL2_RUN and HSPL4...and it was working...but now just error...What happend? What can i do?
How that can work in one moment and in another not... :-/
Forward Thankful...
In bootloader, what does the top line of text say?
same problem as Camsy..
in top right of bootloader i've RUUNBH, and after this there's 8g8g8g8 SS-BC.
Now i've loaded hspl.3.03 but i want to downgrade at hspl2 cause hspl3 is not compatible with my hd2.

Hi there,
I've bought my HTC Leo 1 week ago and I want to install Android on it. I'm following the steps of this post but it's a little hard if you haven't flash a cell phone ever
The thing is that my cell phone has SPL 3.03.0000, but I need HSPL 1,2 or 3, So I need to downgrade the SPL to use the right HSPL.
Does anyone know how to downgrade the SPL? If I understood right I need to flash a new ROM of win mo 6.5 in my cell phone with the right spl, but I don't know where to find it.
Thanks!
Search for HSPL2 or HSPL3.
You actually need HSPL4 AFAIK. Just search for HSPL4 then download etc. Then go in to bootloader and run the .exe found in the file you've downloaded. Click through the steps and you'll get to a screen with a drop down menu, choose 2.08.HSPL from the menu. Then just click next and it'll flash.

then I need HSPL4. I just saw this post and it says "Android / WP7 / MAGLDR don't support HSPL3.03/OSPL3.03. You need HSPL2.08 to run Android / WP7 / MAGLDR." So, among all the HSPL releases, the only one that doesn't work is the 3.03? If that's right the HSPL4 should work, I'll give it a try
Oh, I just see this post and it says "You must have hspl 2 or 3 for android to run well please use HSPL GUIDE" . Is there any problem with HSPL4 of the guide is old?
It won't matter. All HSPL4 does is flash 2.08.HSPL to bootloaders that have SPL 3 and up as the older versions are compatible with older SPL's (bootloader).

Well, I have another problem now
I'm following this steps to put HSPL4:
2. Synch Phone with PC in Windows Mobile!!! It has to be connected to activesync or WMDC via USB cable
3. Run HSPL4.exe from your pc and read all the text carefully
4. When finished reading click next in the HardSPL program
I connect my phone to the PC, and the Windows Mobile center pops out, but when I go to the ActiveSync on my phone it says that I should install the ActiveSync software in my pc (I don't know why but I can't install ActiveSync on my pc, it says that my software is uncompatible (Windows 7, 64 bit), I read that WMDC is used in W7 instead of ActiveSync). So I executed the HSPL4 (phone conected) and wait 5 minutes, and it didn't find the USB conection of my phone with my pc :/
Anyone had this problem or know any alternative? :/
Thanks!
Done, I use the "NOTE: You can also install HARDSPL by entering Bootloader mode manually, then running the HSPL4.exe program once you see 'USB' at the bottom of the tri-colour screen.". I didn't saw it
Haha I was just about to say that. It's actually better if you run it straight from HSPL.
So are you all flashed now or what?

I just flashed it and now I have to install the Radio, but I have the same problem (in the steps it says that I need to be connected by activeSync)
I think I will try again from the Bootloader mode manually, what do you say?
Edit: In this post says that the radio have to be installed before the rom, but in this one it says the opposite.
(I'm a little lost )
Install everything from the bootloader. They;ll all flash correctly from there.
Install the radio before the ROM. Make sure you flash 2.15.50.14 then flash MAGLDR and flash away!
mm, I downloaded the radio 2.15.50.14 but when I execute the CustomRUU and the phone is conected in Bootloader mode it doesn't recognize the phone :S
I can't figure out any solution... what a thing...
PD: Now it shows SPL-3.03.HSP in the bootloader screen, so that's ok
Actually no that's the reason why its not okay. You flashed the wrong HSPL. Just go back to bootloader, open up HSPL4 and when you get to a drop down menu chose 2.08.HSPL from the menu. That's the one you need. Flash that, then reflash the radio and it will flash properly.

Oh, I've just realized one thing.. In this post says:
★STEP 2★
Prepare your device
windows rom - windows rom has been linked with issues within the android builds so for the first time im going to compile a list of working roms here that have no issues within android
i have been using ChuckyROM GTX + CHT 1.8.5 - 23128 from the start of android development and have yet to have an issue below is a list of other roms and links that are working well with android :-

★★★ PLEASE LEAVE LINKS AND INFORM ME OF ANY ROMS YOU HAVE TRIED AND HAD NO ISSSUES ★★★
FOR INFORMATION ON HOW TO FLASH A ROM PLEASE GO TO FLASHING GUIDE.
That means I have to install another windows rom before the android one?
PD: When I installed the HSPL 3.03.0000 (by mistake) and then the 3.03.HSPL, in both cases it shows ''We hacked it!'', but I just install the 2.08.HSPL and it didn't show anything, it just said ''Succesfully done'', is that ok? . Edit: The phone displays the right version of SPL, i'll try with the custumRUU in a moment
I'm waiting for the answer I'm afraid of running the customruu without haven't changed the WM Rom (That step is't very clear for me )
If you have 2.08.HSPL on your phone all you need to do now is flash MAGLDR from the RUU. You don't need a custom WinMo ROM if you have the correct radio etc. as MAGLDR will over-write WinMo anyway.
So basically if your phone is saying 2.08.HSPL just go back to the bootloader and flash the MAGLDR RUU.

I have.
Can anyone help me please... I'm trying to upgrade the rom to the latest HTC HD2 rom for O2. I connect the phone via USB, sync it and then run the RUU program from HTCs website. The phone starts the process and boots the phone to the 4 colour screen and then to the black HTC progress screen and then it hangs on 0% for a few minutes until the utility finally tells me its lost connection with the phone (Error 262). I've done soft resets and hard resets. Disabled firewalls. Tried on another machine. Even ran the utility under XP SP3 compatibility. Still no joy. Can anyone help?? Thanks
Sounds like you might have a bad USB cable or that you are having timing out problems. First forget about the ActiveSync. All ActiveSynce does is help insure hour HD2 is ready to be flash by checking the battery level and such. Power your HD2 on but hold the volume down button down while powering on. When you see the tri color bootloader screen connect hour USB cable and wait for the Serial in the white bar of bootloader to change to USB and then right click the RUU of the ROM and select run as administrator. If this still does not work I would try another USB cable.

hmm....if you are trying to flash stock rom which is not intended for your device, you need HSPL or Gold card.
There are threads in Windows Mobile 6.5 section that will guide you on installing HSPL or making a Gold Card.
Good luck

Well here's the thing, my phone is locked to O2. I'm trying to install the latest ROM from HTCs website for O2 customers. For the life of me I cant get it to install. I did install HSPL a few months ago when I tried to run Android from the SD card. That didnt work either. Like I say, I've done a hard reset. Could the HSPL thing be causing an issue. How do I get rid of it.
I hate being a noob sometimes!!

To get rid of HSPL you just have to run the HSPL Utility avain and choose the correct SPL version for your ROM when it asks what version you want to flash. Remember HSPL has the stock SPL versions to, click on the link in my sig to download HSPL 4. Hint thecstock SPL versions all have four zeros at fhe end and the HSPL version do not.
You said you are getting error 262, this usually means you don't have the right SPL or HSPL one of the two atleast that is if I remember correctly. What ROM are you trying to flash and what does it say in bootloader right now?

Hi... Been away so only just got this reply.
The rom I'm trying to install is a stock rom update from the HTC website:
O2 (UK): 3.14.206.1
For the record, my phone is an O2 phone.
As for Bootloader? It currently says:
PB81100 HX-BC
SPL-2.08.0000 8G XE
MicroP(LED) 0x05
MicroP(TOUCH) 0x40
Hope that helps. Really bugging the arse off me this is.
get hspl2,
put phone into bootloader manually first and connect usb lead
(thats why it was timing out on you ((error 262)) because the connection takes too long to reconnect when it reboots from winmo into bootloader, , if you do it yourself first, that solves this error 99% of the time.)
when 'serial' changes to 'usb' run hspl2, choose 1.66.0000 (i recommend this because 2.08.0000, whilst stock, is a tmous stock, so 'may' give problems, , totally unconfirmed, but i had issues recently removing android/magldr whilst spl was 2.08.0000, i switched to 1.66.0000 and it worked straight away, i have a slight hunch that spl 2 doesnt like to be downgraded in some circumstances, , if you preffer you could use hspl4 and go straight for 3.03.0000, since that is whjat your 3.14 rom will install anyway when you flash it)
when it reboots saying its done, immediately hold voldown to re-enter bootloader
when serial changes to usb, run your 3.14.exe

Mate - you're a genius. Followed your instructions and it worked like a charm.
Cheers pal. You saved my brain
Erm, not sure how much more basic i can make it. (Ignore my descriptions, just follow the steps)
Power off, hold voldown, power on keeping voldown held,, see multi striped coloured screen, that's bootloader, you can flash from this screen.
First you should try without bothering to change the spl.
Enter bootloader and connect USB, run the 3.14 you downloaded. That's it.
If it doesn't work, try changing spl as in my previous post by entering bootloader, and instead of running the 3.14 you run hspl instead.
As for writing a guide, you already read the various "how to flash.." guides (there are several) and watched the (also several) YouTube guides before you even started this thread,,, didn't you? Didn't you?? If not then shame on you!
Post back and ill check tomorrow.
Hello XDA.
as you can see iam new to the forum. and i have been trying some basic SD roms. and kinda found out that i realy liked the miui roms.
So i was about to try to install [ROM] HTC HD2 Leo MIUI.us Presents MIUI 1.7.15 Pure English [AOSP]
But then i noticed in the Unlocking HD2 step that my phone isnt unlocked and its also running spl 3.03.
So what i need help with is.
how do i downgrade to 2.08? (witch is needed in the next step) so i can continue the steps...
my phone is a european htc hd2 (norway) and is still running stock wm 6.5.
All help appreasiated.
Bootloader
Hspl4
Choose 2.08.hspl
thanks for the respond.
but would it be possible to be litle more detailed?
edit:
When you say bootloader i assume you refering to MAGLDR...
No,bootloader is bootloader, magldr is magldr. Plenty of stickies hand holding you through all this, and countless hundreds single threads explaining it.
Download HSPL 4. Connect phone to PC via ActiveSync. Run HSPL4 on PC and choose HSPL 2.08. Wait a few seconds. Should see 'We Hacked it!' on phone. You can now go ahead and (try) to install android following the other steps.
worked like a a sharm.

Yeah as Samsamuel said, ActiveSync is not really necessary it's just easier for most people to understand.
Before doing this I would recommend updating your ROM to the latest official stock ROM 3.14 (go to the settings and then software info to see this if my memory serves me correctly, haven't used WinMo in ages ) as this will have the latest radio and will save you from having to reflash it later.
Download HSPL4 package (just see samsamuel's link in his sig), turn the phone off then boot into bootloader by holding power and volume down buttons. Connect phone to PC via USB, run the HSPL installer, select HSPL 2.08 (make sure it's HSPL, not SPL, SPL 2.08 won't do any damage, but it won't help either ) and viola, it will be installed after a few seconds
i have spl 1.67 how to upgrade or downgrade?
Hello,
My HD2 is defected and I am trying to send it back for another one. The touchscreen doesnt work so I cant take off hspl the way i put it on. I did however hard reset the phone and now it is not showing HSPL on the boot colored screen, only spl 2.08. Is that ok, or will tmobile still know I was messing with the software and charge me for the malfunctioned phone. Any help is appreciated.

totally missed the important part, does it say 2.08.0000 or 2.08.hspl?
if it says 2.08.0000 then yea thats fine, if it says 2.08.hspl then no, it isn't.
never mind.. sam was faster, as always of course
That means you still have HSPL, you can uninstall it by using the package you used to install it.
VVVVV
It says spl 2.08 Hspl 8g....
I cant uninstall it the same way i installed it because my touchscreen is unresponsive. So when I connect my phone to the computer i cant click on sync so my phone is just thinking I want to charge it.
dont need touchscreen, you didnt use the touchscreen when you installed hspl either.
phone into bootloader
connect usb
run hspl3 or hspl4
choose 2.08.0000 and its stock.
actually, you didnt say if its a tmous or not, if its NOT a tmous, then spl 2.anything will NOT be stock, because 2.x is for tmous (t mobile us)
in this case you would need to use hspl2 or hspl4 and set spl 1.42.0000 or 1.66.0000 or 3.03.0000
I tried running hspl4 while in bootloader but I keep getting an error message saying "the application has failed to start becasue RAPI.dll was not found.."
rapii is caused by windows mobile dev center (or active sync if on xp) not being the latest version. find the MS page for wmdc (or AS) and download it.
Thank you so much guys. It worked. HSPL is off and its only showing SPL 2.08. Does the radio matter?
help me too
my htc hd2 touch goes unreponsive time to time. so i decided to give it up for check up to htc. help me load back wp6.5 rom from boyppc nand rom from magldr. anyone?
hello ... uhm, i was ... what i was!? ... well, i tried to return my phone from hspl to ospl version, i flashed magldr and android to windows stock rom, but, when i tryed to flash it from hspl to spl i did this :
- Extracked 'Ruu.signed.nbh' and changed it name to 'leoimg.nbh' than i copied it to my sd card and then i tryed to hard reset my phone ...
- The loading screan was activated and tryed to update something, but then it crashes and now i cant do anything .... i can't flash anyrom, any spl, any bootloader ... it always says that 'Software wasn't updated' (or something like that) .... it seams like its locked ...
so, pls, help me to fix this thing.... thx XDA gods ^_^
We know you're worried, but you have given no details at all,, what model hd2, what stock rom you flashed, what spl shows in bootloader(don't assume you know, check it visually again now) what exactly "the loading screen started..... crashed...blah blah" actually means.
Details details details.
oh god, how rude of me ... well, im useing htc leo hd2 t8585 and i have stock rom windows mobile 6.5 //3.14.405.2// now, but before that i had android 2.3.7 gingerbread 1.1.3 magldr and 2.08 hspl ... i sucessfully removed android and magldr but hspl remains the same .... than, i tried to remove hspl with ospl and when i try to hard reset my phone i see loading screen of ospl but then it pops 'Not allowed' screen .... like its locked or something .... and when i try to boot my phone it stucks again there and redirect me to HSPL picture (u know those colors) and pops the message 'rom update is not finished, try again later ' ... i know it sounds ****ed up
Run Hspl4 with phone in bootloader, choose 3.03.0000, flash stock rom again. If you still get errors you aren't using the correct stock rom for your region/provider.

That's dangerous advice without checking if its deff not a tmous. LOADS of tmouses have been bricked by the owner trying to get to spl 1.x
Just cos he said its a t8585, it wouldn't be the first time a tmous user has referred to it as an 8585
