Does anyone know if there are any plans to release a Firefox browser app for the HD2? I tried out the new Opera 10 browser the other day but I don't think its any better than the older version - I'd much prefer to use Firefox!
From what I know they have halted development on the firefox development of Fennec due to WM7 issues.
If you want to download the latest version of Fennec use the link below:

Hope this helps.
I personally love Opera 10, but hey - each to their own!
Try this. It should help

opera10 is great but it lacks the native pinch-to-zoom and some other features htc implemented in hd2's stock opera 9.7
just use SKYFIRE, skyfire is awesome..

Try the Opera 9.5 until the Firefox --> "Fennec" will released...
when will fennec come out, anybody knows about it?
or will it only release for sybian and android/linux?
as far as i know it already works for the Nokia Internet Tablet N810 in a alpha2 version.
SO we have to while. But the Opera 9.5 is not as bad as u maybe suppose. I will use it in the meanwhile.

Opera Mobile eats Ram so be careful you should try opera mini aswell and UCweb and Iris Browser Get Skyfire it Rocks
i would like to test skyfire, but i does not install successfull. Strange.
Could u post a proper .cab? Thx
Try Netfront
Try Netfront 3.5, set it to 'text browsing' and disable all those useless bells and whistles like the fake 3D bookmarks manager. You'll get a very fast browser which enables you to read most useful sites in text mode while allowing you to go 'back' to 'full browsing' (with javascript and all that jazz) to use those few useless sites which insist on it. It has finger scrolling as well. IMnsHO this is currently the best browser for WM devices, beating Opera (memory hog) and PIE (no comment).
The version I linked to is a beta which will run out in a few months, I've been running previous betas for a while now without problems. When the beta runs out there will either be a new beta or the final release. If the latter will run unrestricted I don't know...
I have read somewhere that there is a newer build of Opera Mobile than the one included with the Touch HD. This can be downloaded somewhere and is supposed to work with Flash Lite 3 for support of playing Youtube videos within the browser and so on.
Does anybody have experience with this? Does it support the WVGA-resolution on the Touch HD? Where can it be dowloaded?

Thanx Dodger for the link !
Installed the hacked VGA version of newest Opera with flash
But to be honest... i still use NetFront... i dont like this zooming all the time and Opera is not fast enough... i hope Microsoft will invent a good (!!!) web browser like Safari on the Apple. The newest Internet Explorer works like %!§/ , even slower than version 5!
I don't like the 15233 Build from the Omnia. The 15202 works better, because it still stores the settings into \windows\opera9 and not within the application data and the vibration for buttons still work with that build.
Is that "Flash" version of Opera really only for flash video pages like youtube, google video etc.? Or can it be used to view regular websites requiring a flash plugin?
I'm curious as to how HTC implemented multi-touch in Opera. They have a few options:
1) Opera itself checks if it's running on the HD2 and enables multi-touch using HTC's proprietary driver/dll
2) HTC customised a specific version of Opera to work with multi-touch
3) The version of Opera is bog-standard and HTC is intercepting/hooking input calls to Opera
If option 1) is true, then a different version of Opera should work fine with multi-touch on the HD2. If option 2) is true, then a different version of Opera won't work with multi-touch.
If option 3) is true, not much can be said.
Anybody willing to try installing a different version of Opera on their HD2 and seeing whether multi-touch still works on that version?
^why is that such a big deal? I mean the best opera is already on HD2 and it works.
0.631 exactly
Ooops : wrong topic Sorry

because in a little future maybe we want to change the version of opera, upgrade it or similar.
how people can you be so short of views?
It's not a "standard" Opera in that it has a special setting to work with pinch and zoom. Whether this setting will be present in future non-HTC builds of the browser remains to be seen.
HTC couldn't hack Opera because they don't have access to their code.
in the future there are better opera's that will support multitouch probably anyway...
its not like Opera is going to regress...so you can expect future versions to be better than the current one which means more support, more options, more compatibility, ...
I really like how much faster Opera mini is, is there anyway to make it the default browser? It doesn't seem to play nice when its installed alongside Opera 10.
Thanks
Opera Mini Default Browser?
I agree. I love how fast Opera mini moves and I like it even better than any of the Facebook apps that I've seen for use with FB, but I don't know how to make it my default browser. Any help?
It should already by the default browser?
it is on mine already

No, it (Opera Mini) should not be already, and very unlikely is on yours.
Two browsers come pre-installed on the TMo HD2. Opera Mobile 9 and Internet Explorer. Opera Mobile 9 is set as the default browser.
Opera Mini is a different browser from Opera Mobile. It used to only run as a java midlet, but now there is a beta available that runs directly in WM.
Confusing, but there are three different Opera browsers that users can use on the phone. Opera Mobile 9 comes with the phone, but one can download and install the newer Opera Mobile 10. One can also install Opera Mini 5, WM version. (Or the java midlet version, for that matter)
Hello my friends,
I juste would like to discuss with you about the futur of web browser on our famous wm6.5 OS !
I use Opera 9.7 36053 which is the latest release from the OOBOE or Hengshan ROM.
-> This build is not available on opera website, but, HTC has all these builds, so do you think that HTC or Opera could give us a new build if possible ?
In addition, we don't have a browser supporting HTML5 so anyone here have informations about the future of our browser ?
Does Opera release a new Opera Java browser ?
Do you think that it will be possible to hack the Mango's browser to our WM6.5 ( can dreaming ).
If anyone have some informations, please share it !
I love WM6.5, I love my HD2, but it will be famous to having a better internet experience
Thanks for reading,
best regards,
Nixeis
short answer: nope.
yes, we have 9.7.36053 from oboe, but it's still the same old presto-engine. and if htc ever releases a new winmo-rom - i doubt it. and even then, it would still be the same old engine.
opera itself stopped developing for winmo, officially. (no mini6, no opera 11)
the only good news is regarding native mini 5: changes on the servers (to display sites correctly) still are done for it as well, not only mini 6. sure, you can use java-versions too, but it's never the same experience.
I downloaded opera 10 directly from the opera site its self. Seems to be a newer version than OBOE!
maybe that's because oboe has opera mobile 9.7 and you got opera mobile 10. see the difference? ^^ opera 10 is nice in theory, but it's a memhog and worse on some pages compared with 9.7. they fixed lots of stuff with 11, but we don't get it...
i prefer mini5 as main browser and 9.7 as backup.
