evo has beaten the iphone4
now .. it is now up against a family member (another sprint phone with android).
thats not true.. it is up against all Galaxy S phones including Epic... that is not fair.. but maybe it can pull it off!
http://www.fonearena.com/blog/22675/smartphone-championship-htcevo-4g-vs-samsung-galaxy-s.html
The EVO is loosing by a very small margin, but loosing!
Can XDA save the EVO???
ps.. sorry if this is a repost!

voted, saw this too - weird population voting in this thing; would still be nice to see EVO win.
Well i dont think the pre is a piece... sure it has some problems but until the android devices started getting really good that was my phone of choice. But yes the poll is pretty lame, the N1 is better than the pre. But i voted for the evo of course so hope we take the win.
Why are all the superphones bunched up in the same division?! evo, iphone, galaxy s and droid x all together lol.
This is a dumb competition; there are Galaxy S phones for four carriers I believe, while the EVO 4G is only available for Sprint. Of course more people will vote for Galaxy S, as more people own one!
voted for the evo as well. thanks.

but.. consider this...
iphone 4 is a bigger "group"
but still got beaten by the EVO.
so.. we still have hope
Not completely agree with that article but Evo got my vote.
I voted, hopefully the EVO can come back. My brother has a Galaxy S and honestly the EVO is a better phone. He plays with my phone all the time.

Not true. Galaxy S phones were sold world wide. Most countries don't even have unlocked iphone 4's yet to sell. But there is a huge stock of galaxy s phones available in europe/asia/australia/etc.. That's the reason it's winning.

you said iphone 4 had a bigger user group, which isn't true since iphone 4 is nation wide, while the galaxy s is world wide.
I hate it when the 2 greatest phones get put up with each other so soon in the poll. The final should be the HTC Evo and the galaxy. It makes the Evo look worse that it couldnt even make it to the semi finals. If you dont go back and see what it lost to.
If the Galaxy goes on, like it seems so far. Its not even gunna compare to the phone that will be in it.
Please convince me not to do this! I've been really thinking about doing it ='(

i don't understand why you need us to convince you to keep something. it's your own decision. if you want the SGS2, then get it. if you're happy with your atrix, then keep it. we all have different opinions and decisions. make your own, honestly.

Any ideas on a good place to sell the Atrix and buy the SGS2 (or the Samsung Attain which will be the AT&T version of the SGS2)? I'm new on eBay so I'm a little worried that buyers wouldn't buy from me because I don't have any feedback. Any other options?
Think about it, try out the GSII if you are able, look at the dev threads and maybe wait a few weeks to see what the situation is for the Atrix compared to it. I know I certainly will consider it if/when the GSII comes to AT&T.
EDIT: Only other place I can think of is Craigslist. If you post plenty of pictures and a detailed description, that will help.
Just keep it and wait till the next Nexus comes out and then sell it

This is what you should do.
Also the processor and GPU on the Atrix is better than the one on the SGSII. When the Atrix gets 2.3 it will do circles around the SGSII.
There are only 2 things that will pull me towards an SGSII
1. Unlocked bootloader (this likely going to be locked when it comes to AT&T)
2. Super Amoled screen
If those are important to you go get it if not keep the atrix. The dev section is booming we might get the bootloader unlocked.

I've got both handsets and to be honest the grass isn't necessarily greener on the SGS II side. Geez its a nice handset though, but I still believe 4" is the best size. I've found that the SGS II has a very plastic feel, and the back cover is so thin. I've been in a few situations where I've accidently sat down with the Atrix in my back pocket, and its survived easily, but I worry about doing the same with the SGS II. The SGS II probably isn't the phone I would take out drinking with the boys on a Friday night - I'm sure I would easily break it.
If you're looking for a speed comparison between Gingerbread handsets, it runs just as smooth on the SGS II as it does on my Nexus S (yes I also have the NS). There's no real difference between them IMO, (even though the Nexus S is single core). Where the SGS II shines is in having numerous widgets going and live wall papers at the same time - and although the lag is still there in momentary milliseconds, its no where as bad as the Atrix with live wallpapers going with Android 2.2. I think this is where Gingerbread shines though - and I'm sure the Atrix will perform similar when it gets Gingerbread. Its this very reason why, although I've been tempted to sell the Atrix as well, I'm prepared to hang onto it until it gets 2.3.
Damage wise, I've found the Atrix is easier to fix. For example, I dropped my Atrix onto my concrete driveway from low height and damaged the corners of the back cover - However, the cover was easily replaced by one from www.cnn.cn. As you know, the cover on the Atrix covers the corners, so when you replace the back cover, its all fixed. The SGS II isn't the same. If you drop it on the corners, you need to replace the entire body..! I'm not looking forward to this..
I think other than the shear size of the SGS II being a negative for me, I really wish the SGS II had qHD screen resolution. 800x480 at 4.3" on the SGS II is just bad IMO, although maybe if I hadn't gone from the Atrix to the SGS II, I wouldn't have cared. I feel I have been spoilt by the qHD though, especially when I view high resolution photos I've taken with my Canon 5D Mk II DSLR - on the SGS II, the sub-pixelation is a killer...
My 2 cents

Normally I would agree with this school of thought, but the SG2 is a $600-$900 phone to just "Jump into".
The Atrix unlocked is not cheap either.
It's nice to hear other people's input since XDA is a "community" that tries to help others.
Sure you can read reviews in Samsung's forum, but to hear it from somebody in here gives you more perspective.
Sure I've seen multiple threads about this, "and wish it was all in one neat thread", but if Motorola got their act together (especially for Bell users) this **** wouldn't be happening as much...

LOL! All I could think of was this:
“I command ye, therefore, upon the peril of your lives, to depart immediately out of this place! Take away that shining bauble there, and lock up the doors. You have sat here too long for the good you do. In the name of God, go!”
@cheetah2k Thanks for the great writeup!
Everyday to and from work, I think about making the switch myself. I've had the Bell Atrix for over a month, and have probably used it for half the time. My Motorola Milestone is kicking it's ass right now and that's not sitting well with me.
^ (still have a capped device with no Stock SBF and Adfree still doesn't work)
The only thing that still keeps me holding on is hoping that Gingerbread actually fixes this device, and that I get the "Telus Fascinate" experience again.
^Basically I had the same garbage issues with the Fascinate on Eclair, but Froyo almost fixed everything. Sadly GPS was still broken, but the phone was way better than before.
Last week I actually wiped my Atrix and almost sold it, but after reading about some of the bugs on the SGII it's bought me a little bit more time.
Hardware and form factor wise the Atrix is PERFECT, but it's like using a Core 2 Duo PC running on 98/Me. Part of me still doesn't trust Motorola, and the support on their forums blows right now, but the phone has so much potential in front of it.
If the Galaxy S II didn't have so many dead pixel units reported, I would have pulled the trigger a long time ago and pitted the 2 phones against each other. For now I'm just waiting for the SG2 to either come down in price, or Moto to give us an "official" timetable of when Gingerbread is gonna be rolled out (including the forgotten Bell units)...
+1 for cheetah2k, a good seemingly unbiased comparison. I think its best that I stick with the Atrix because of the things it still has that the SGS2 doesn't, like qHD and the awesome fingerprint sensor. Plus, it'll probably be a little while before the SGS2 officially comes on AT&T, so I might as well just wait for the next Nexus. Thanks again, cheetah2k!
system update is really a issue constraining phone's spec
I bought atrix just for it is the first phone with 1ghz*2 +1g ram
but I'm now considering to replace it with a next-g nexus
for it is branded by Google and always gets the latest version

It sucks that i think my SGS2 is perfect as it is stock. No more spending hours here on XDA to see if someone finally made that rom, that makes my phone better.I remember the day´s when i had an HTC Diamond, funky little fone but kinda not what i had expected.Suddenly u could flash Windows Mobile 6.5 and the fone was like new!
Any1 else feeling the same?
got mine friday and spend this afternoon getting rid of the samsung crapware; this is my 6th android phone so i know what I use and what I want.
It surely was the easiest phone to alter; just had a few minutes to get used of odin but that was it!
Now waiting for cyanogenmod (my pref. by far) to get the flashing madness starting again
Ye i kind of miss it. Had a trinity and the Touch pro 2 both were pritty much unuasble stock after a few weeks. But the SG ii is just awsome, actually usable as a reliable phone lol
True, true. I've flashed my HTC Hero and Desire till the end with the newest of the newest roms.
I loved MIUI and Cyanogen, and anything else out of the ordinary. I just can't wait until these come to the SGSII (including a nice and easier recovery like Amonra or cwr). I just want to try the roms to see how they perform. I won't use MIUI that long, since I hate it's not available in my language.
Can't wait for the storm of custom roms this phone will have in the future

You could say they look similar and they are in that:
they are rectangular (this is very rare on smartphones)
they are black - THIS IS EVEN more rare
it's slimmer = Steve Jobs is mad.
And yes the home button. But my Desire has 5 buttons. 4 are a "dull-er" silver and the middle button is a really nice circular patterned metal sliver - it's the button you see immediately over the others.
If you look at windows phones, they have the windows key which is centred with 2 other buttons around it.
GSII has a centre button that's rectangular, surrounded by two other buttons.
So yes they are similar, but they're also similar to many other phones.
Jobs clearly has a problem with the fact that the GSII bridges that gap (on looks) between "A chunky, but extremely powerfull" which only certain people get (who don't mind the looks) and the "sleek, slim look" that appeals to the common consumer.
It's exactly what Apple did many years ago, they combined power with looks and an "image" for the phone.
(I'm saying this because I speak from personal experience seeing as I had an N80, and N95) Absolute BEASTS but they were insanely chunky, but I really didn't care.)
this is my first android device. Ive recently defected from nokia after a long relationship with symbian and more recently maemo. But its gone all wrong at nokia. wp7 devices, no os support, just community support (not such a bad thing) and Tech which is 2 years out of date. Was going to hold out for a n950/n9 but thats old tech and would prob be going against the sgs3. Plus they have dumped intel and left meego going no where.....
Im happy ive jumped ship now...
This phone is very much a king of phones. I love it, only had it a couple of days and im fascinated.
Huge wins for samsung and android
the other problem with this Samsung is 'we have no idea what kind of updates they have made and compare to Htc they are not helping people to see it,they just say UPDATE and thats it,Htc always show the updates of what kind of bugs they have fixed and anything else' for shure this is my last time i buy from Samsung, hopefuly next year when my contract finishes there will be more competitions
Something lovely was announced:

Techcrunch had no credibility and still dont lol. One of the worst sites for review thats on the web!"
It's no surprise, given their editorial line of work.
Nothing new there, next!
God, certain people have such a fine eye and intelligence. I am sure this review by Devin Coldewe would open the eyes of over 10 million Galaxy Note Users and Samsung will now appoint him for developing all their devices as he seems to have such a superb grip of understanding technology and consumer behaviour. Phew!!
By the way Devin's rant could also be due to the fact that he did not get the Free Shirt that were being distributed at the Galaxy Note booth at the CES.
The Galaxy Note is the 4th best selling item at Expansys UK! It will sell and sell!
