So, which one do you suggest if price is not an issue?
Obviously HD2 is superior in hardware but is is better overall?
Are there any good apps/games for windows 6.5? Are there any good free apps/games? Emulators?
Android or Wm?
I also kinda like nexus but lack of multitouch is a dealbreaker for me...
Any opinions? i really need help
Please look at this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=609378
To give you a quick answer: The HD2 is the most powerful. Not only in hardware, but mostly because it runs Windows Mobile.
The others are inferior in hardware and offer less possibilities because they run Android, but they are easier to use.
Android is easier to use, but more limited. WM is not as simple, but offers more possibilities.
You can't say that one is better than the other. It entirely depends on what you need.
This is already discussed in that other thread, so maybe it's better to close this one.

+1 Well said
hooray !!
if you want a phone, that is responsive. fast and really your phone. HD2 should be the one for you.
The answers you get here might be biased as most people posting will own a HD2. I've got a HD2 and i think it's great. The Nexus has got pretty much identical hardware to the HD2 so from a hardware perspective i'd say go for the HD2 or the Nexus. There's also gonna be a Bravo released which will be pretty much the same as the Nexus but with a Sense UI. If it was me the choice would be between the HD2 or the Bravo.
IMO, the Nexus is ugly and a lot of wasted space around the screen. Sure, the spec is a lot more impressive than the HD2, but i can't get over how ugly it is and certainly not big enough of an android fan. If i had to go out and get one in the next few days, I'd get an HD2.
HOWEVER!!!! If you have time to wait, I would suggest waiting for the Motorola Shadow/Mirage

That motorola phone looks awesome. Same screen as the HD2 but with a much better camera. If it has a similar processor as the HD2 then i'll probably sell my HD2 to buy that.
At this moment HD2 > all .
I had a Hero, sold it to buy a HD2. Hero was a great phone, but I wanted a bigger screen.
In Android I prefer the app market: it's bigger and it's easier to find an app. There's more integration with google services, also. Some apps in WM look like Windows 3.11. But as long as they work, that's what matters in the end of the day.
In the first couple of days, I missed Android. Now, I don't understand why I've missed it
I love my HD2 and would definitely recommend it. If not, go to Nexus One/HTC Bravo, its specs are obviously better than Hero's.

nexus hardware is better than hd2 (512 ram)
That's no significant difference from the 448MB in the HD2, which don't get filled up anyways.
The HD2 has the bigger screen and better camera LED.

Quality won't really make up for lack of quantity(size) in this case as it's a mobile phone we're talking about. I love having a screen that actually makes webpages readable without having to zoom in while sitting on the bus/train. Size-wise it's also more suitable for watching movies. The bezel on the Nexus is also ginormous compared to the one on the HD2.
I might add that sunlight legibility with an amoled screen is pretty bad:

I really like the look of this more than my N1:

I'm a sucker for hard keys and I like to coloring better. It looks less like an iphone with the hard keys too.

Agreed, I was thinking the same thing when I saw it.
It looks rather hideous to me, I like the concept-model better than this, thing.. it looks as if its made out of the same material the black G1 is, or maybe something similar. I honestly don't know, but it just looks like a quite ugly phone personally.
It does have everything the N1 has, plus more, and the Sense UI - so honestly, but sadly, I could see this thing maybe beating the N1 in terms of popularity. Don't know why I think this, don't want to think it either.
Concept picture was much much nicer.
Designers get raped in the negineering process dont they.
I like the optical trackball since the N1s is currently useless for notifications.
Sense UI is Fugly on large screens. Dont know why I think Android 2.1 transitions and live wallpaper make Sense home screen look more hideous than before.
Right now, I'm more interested in what 3G frequencies it supports. I thought I remember reading that it will support WCDMA 900/1900/2100, which would mean it would work just fine on AT&T's 3G network in most areas. It's too bad the buttons look awful on the bottom of it though, but I'd rather have ugly buttons with 3G than the other way around!
Reading the article, it is reporting it will have 512mb of RAM? Every other report of the Brave has it at 378(or something like that)... hmmmm...
Anyway you slice it, though, the ROM for the Bravo will be ported to the N1, and the N1 ROM will be ported to the Bravo. Same hardware, so any "features" it has are available for the N1 as well.
It also has 720p video recording and an FM radio. Bootloader will probably not be unlockable at all - very hard to root.
RAM
Not that there is anything wrong with the amount of RAM for the N1, but all sense phones should have more RAM than their stock counter parts, at least enough to offset all the widgets and goodies of sense running.
1gb of RAM would be nice, with 4 gigs of ROM for OS and apps and microSD for media as it is now.
That picture is almost correct size if you put your N1 up against it.
What's up with the space at the bottom? Is the screen size smaller?
There's a lot of discussion regarding HTC Desire and Nexus One. We get so many arguments. For me, what matters is the hardware. A lot of us, including cyanogen, predict that the two will share ROMs.
I know other factors, like price, matter. If you want to discuss those, please start another thread. This discussion is limited to HTC Desire's and Nexus One's *hardware*. Let's discuss here the specs, buttons, aesthetics, etc.
Edit:
Hardware differences that we established so far (HTC Desire vs. Nexus One):
Physical buttons vs. Capacitive buttons
Optical Trackpad vs. Trackball
576 MB RAM vs. 512 MB RAM
No noise-canceling mic vs. W/ noise-canceling mic
Chin vs. No Chin
135 grams w/ battery vs. 130 g w/ battery
(H x W x D) 119 x 60 x 11.9 mm vs. 119 mm x 59.8 mm x 11.5 mm
non-engrave-able back vs. engrave-able back
no docking pins vs. w/ docking pins
Wireless Band Differences
Aesthetic Differences
Edit:
And it's true! The battle is just hardware because the Desire ROM runs on the Nexus One. We may even be experiencing all the Desire's software goodness before the Desire hits the stores
Only hard buttons , desire is confirmed not to have hd record it is now like nexus one
The main differences I can see between the two phone are:
Nexus one have 2 mics, while the desire only have one.
Nexus one have touch buttom, while desire have physical key.
sense ui or not...
i think that's the only differences i can see...

And Desire has 64 bit more RAM and has FM radio. I think, that's pretty much it, plus aesthetics, which is a personal preference issue.
What else do you think?
Nexus has docking pins at the bottom whereas the Desire doesn't.
stuff
and 64mb of extra RAM on the Desire.
there is no voice search on the Desire (but i guess thats software)
Desire has FM radio
Nexus has a engrave-able back (which is awesome).
nexus one looks nicer
the touch buttons arent a problem on the nexus. (they're designed so that u touch them with your whole thumb not just the nail part)
AND THATS PRETTY MUCH IT!!
also whats the deal with everyone upsesing about sense UI? i mean android stock can also add live widgets and **** like twitter facbeook and flickr.and now that the nexus has mulitouch, the obvious choice is the nexus!
and no im not being biased, i currently have a Nokia N95 8GB, but love reading about new tech
Nexus One has an FM radio chip, it might be capable of working with a software tweak.

You're right! http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/06/nexus-one-teardown-reveals-possible-802-11n-radio-and-fm-transmi/
Okay so FM, apparently, is a software thing. But wait.. endgadget says FM *transmitter*. How about receiver?
It's compatible with AT&T 3G from what I read at Modaco
If I'm not mistaken, don't both phones have the same (576mb) amount of ram?
NVM. I thought I saw the N1 had 576 somewhere, but Google officially states 512.
to my eye, the physical design of the nexus one looks smaller and sleeker. i like the sense ui better though in terms of color and navigation although both could be improved and could learn a few tricks from each other.
why does the nexus one have a white status bar for example? im glad our custom themes can fix this, but it should come black from the factory.
i like the overall look of the htc desire, that utilitarian look and feel. i also wish the nexus had a optical track pad instead of the ball. that ball just never felt solid to me.
i dont like the look of chrome though, but i guess its okay since it only on one part of the desire.
fm transmitter is useless without the proper drivers. who knows when well get those. or make them?
It's right. The battle is just hardware. The Desire ROM runs on Nexus One http://android.modaco.com/content/g...sire-rom-on-the-nexus-one-my-findings-so-far/
Isnt it possible that a different split could change the data partition enough to fit the rom on the nexus
anyone pulled flash 10.1 from it yet ?

According to the article, the N1's Broadcom chip also has FM transmit & receive capabilities.
Thomas Ricker said:
Of interest is a Broadcom chip labeled Broadcom BCM4329EKUBG. Why? Well, the BCM4329 (albeit, without the "EKUBG" qualifier) is capable of 802.11n (HTC only lists 802.11b/g) WiFi in addition to FM transmitter and receiver.

I'm under the impression its either "ready" for 10.1 or else currently has an older version. I don't remember which but I'm pretty sure it doesn't have flash 10.1 which a couple weeks ago adobe said still needed a lot of work. Hopefully I'm wrong but that's software so I apologize
Also, desire has more ram but will it also not use it properly like tithe nexus? After having a g1 and mytouch 3g I was super pumped about all of the n1's ram but it doesnt even use it...

There is currently a RAM hack that allows rooted N1 users to use more of their RAM - I also believe there is a 10mb RAM hack for G1 users to allow them to use 10 more mbs of RAM, but in turn lowers 3D processing.
If you've been reading around, you'd know that on the Desire ROM for the N1 that Flash 10.1 is working perfectly.
How about the screen? I know one major complaint by some about the nexus is the fact that it's only "dual-touch" compatible. Does the Desire use the same screen?
Since WP7 is capable supposedly of 1.6 mil colors and we were limited to the 65K in WM6.5 and Android, are we now getting more? I believe from past threads and discussions the hardware capability of the HD2 was 262k.
I really don't see much difference with WP7. Some gradient areas of color still seem pretty bad.
oh that would be very interesting to know. I will look into that tomorrow and will compare with another hd2.
I really dont know if the built in display is able to display more colors or if it just was a limitation of the OS.
I'm searching for the best replacement for my good old "Super" HD2.
I'm trying to decide between HTC Sensation or Samsung Galaxy S2.
Anyone can help me decide?
They are both very good phones and i'm thinking of trying the SGS2 because i have been a Big fan of HTC and Sence, but now I starting to get curious about SGS2.
Please give me some help decide.
I'm going to post this same question on the Sensation forum to compare the answers.
Thanks
Well, I'll do a short summary of the differences for you:
GSII:
Slightly faster (benchmarks, web browsing...)
Super AMOLED+ Screen, better colors, etc. than Sensation's Super LCD screen
Unlocked bootloader
Larger (capacity) battery
Hardware home button (maybe a plus, maybe a minus)
TouchWiz 4.0 UI
Sensation:
qHD screen, larger than GSII's
Less "plasticky", i.e. probably better build quality
Sense 3.0 UI, arguably nicer looking than TouchWiz
Available in US now, so probably cheaper if you are there. EDIT: Never mind, I see you are from Portugal
Locked bootloader
Out of the two, based off of specs, reviews, etc. but no personal experience, I'd probably say the GSII is the better phone, however that is somewhat subjective. If you want more of an in-depth, side by side comparison, go to Youtube and search for "Galaxy S II vs Sensation" and there should be a few videos for you to get a good idea from (sorry I can't post the link, I don't have enough posts yet ).
From all the reviews and tests I read on the net, SGS2 wins all the most important ones, but I'm thinking that HTC is always a better phone for the future becose developers tend to turn to HTC devices more that others.
So I think that with Sensation I will get more costume Roms and more unofficial develepment.

I think it depends on your wants and needs, for gaming and multimedia the sgs2 is superior for internet and social media integration and offline navigation(locations in sense) the sensation would be better; the locked bootloader shouldn't be an issue anymore as htc have announced they will unlock the already sold locked bootloader devices too
For me the most important is not the present speed of the phones, because I know that will change in the future with new roms and costume roms.
The most important for me is the Costume roms support and unofficial developers support.
HTC save you posting asking for sense to be ported to SGS2..
jje
As well as the SGS2 being the better device, my recent experience of HTC devices and their spectacularly awful 'customer service' would keep me well away from HTC devices for the foreseeable future.
If you are a fan of incompetence and rudeness on a Fawlty Towers scale, go for the HTC...

galaxy s2 wins eveything..even the plastic samsung uses for galaxy s2 has proven as good as any metal..see the threat about the battery cover!!..
sensation is much heavier and this is a huge problem..
sensations screen is useless in direct sunlight...and not even close to the super amoled colours..
developers will use the galaxy s2 more than sensation because it will sell more and has the unlocked bootloader..as for the future galaxy s2 has more ram and this is the most important factor for updates .for example the desire has no memory to fully suport gingerbread...
the only strong point for choosing sensation is the sense 3...if you are a sense lover you can buy the htc phone..
Colors on the sensation are actually much, much better, the sgs2 colors are way to oversaturated and unnatural
I see you think the Sensation will get more support.
I don't think that's the case. The Galaxy S II is one of the most popular devices on the planet, there are going to be so many people buying the S 2. I can't say for sure, but the Galaxy S II will have huge support from XDA.
If that's the only thing important to you (custom roms) then you can't go wrong with either (if the Sensation will allow custom roms in the future)
IMO, you should go and play with them in a vodafone shop or something.
Anyway, my advise? Go Galaxy S II.
It has a much better screen. Colours, viewing angles, etc (except for resoultion aside, ehich you wont notice very much)
Better processor (Exynos > Snapdragon)
Better camera, though not a huge difference (all reviews say so)
More RAM, and much more actual free RAM
16GB of storage, Sensation only 1GB
Larger battery
Very thin and light (IMO a good thing. You dont feel it in your pocket, and it looks sooo futuristic when people look at it. Because it's so thin and has that BEAUTIFUL screen)
Easy to root right now and use custom roms.
And, last but not least, TouchWiz 4 UI is good! (though not very important to you, if you use custom roms often)
Nuff' said?
Edit: oh and please nobody try to prove to me the colours on the Sensation look more "natural" and stuff. The screen on the Galaxy S II is the best thing I have ever seen. I like over the top beautiful colours! That is what everybody (at least normal people) say.
Btw, for the OP: look on GSMArena.com
You should see a Sensation vs Galaxy S II on the front page. That confirms everything I said. The Galaxy S II is the simplistic and powerfull choice. The Sensation, while not being so strong in certain points, is the more "luxurious" choice, with better build quality/materials used and the more "in your face" HTC Sense 3.
Well, I made up my mind and bought the SGS2 because of the better harware.
Thanks for all the help.
