Hi all,
I received my HD2 a couple of days ago now and I have to say, contrary to some of the posts around I have definitely had the best out-of-box experience compared to any other device I have ever owned. I have not experienced any of the issues discussed so far other than the camera having a pink spot (which doesnt bother me as I dont really use the phone camera).
My SMSs so far have all gone out the minute I send them (assuming I am in coverage).
I have no screen sensitivity issues, I mean yeah sure it's REALLY sensitive but I think that's just a case of being used to a less sensitive resistive type screen.
In the Outlook notes application, I can draw nice straight lines, though not very accurately because obviously the area of detection can be a bit hit and miss, but if i put my finger down, trace across the screen, the line will be nice and smooth (within reason) with none of the ECG style jitter.
I have not yet installed/configured ANY tweaks and I can tell you I am loving this phone
So to all those who are having problems, please keep faith. They MUST be fixable because if not then I would be experiencing them too.
For reference here are the numbers from my HD2:
OS Version: 5.2.21869 (21869.5.0.82)
Manila version: 2.5.19211619.0
ROM versoin: 1.48.405.2 (71294) WWE
ROM date: 11/18/09
Radio version: 2.05.51.05_2
Protocol version: 15.28.50.07U
Thanks for sharing your experience.

Hi,
I know it's been a while since i was on here. - no excuses
now here's my problem at hand
i have the Vario II and am very very very happy with it until
i got the freaking screen alingment issue.
I phoned T-Mobile up and they said that they will get me a new device
but ir would be only the phone shell no battery no stylus just a shell, now when i asked the guy is it a new device or reconditioned one he said it's one that has been tested and is working.....
so does that mean its a device that someone else has returned either other issue or same screen problem...
i am worried that although i have the screen issue it is not as bad now as it was when i got in touch with t-mobile the device i will get might be allot worse than my current one....i.e. another screen issue but far worse, sticky keys  and so on
could someone please shed any light on this
kind regards
I'd imagine that you'll find that the device has been repaired. It doesn't make sense for them to state this otherwise.

Hello all,
Recently I have bought a Trion over eBay, have successfully ROMed it to:
ROM ver.: 3.54.255.3
ROM date: 07/05/07
Radio ver.: 1.48.00.10
Protocol ver.: 32.81.7020.20H
ExtROM ver. 3.54.255.104
I've already seen a similar old post for the Tilt/Tytn II, you can see it here:
***forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=335086***
As it was stated in there:
"The scroll wheel is very erratic, sometimes when scrolling down it will go up instead and reversing the scrolling motion will cause it to freak out (go down once then scroll up like crazy)."
The problem hasn't been resolved in the previous post.
I have the exact same problem which was already there before ROMing the PDA (the former version was the original one with WM5.0).
Can anyone give me any idea how I can solve this problem??
Fixed!!!
People I found the solution to the problem, it was so simple that I just didn't think about it straight away:
I thought about rotohammer's replay in the other post: "Usually wheels of this type are metal contacts against a circuit board" and a possible answer came into my mind:
I opened the plastic cover and found out that the insides of the hermes was FULL of dust, I blew at it a couple of times to clear away all the dust and a WONDER occured: the scroll wheel functions perfectly!!!
So all of you out there experiencing a similar behavior with your scroll wheel - just open your devices and have a look inside!
I tried to install the fix, but this update is only applicable to ROM version is equal to 1.60.XXX.X, or lower.
When installing an error message pop's up saying, "Incorrect Device, This hotfix is not compatible with your device."
The pink blob is there when I take photo's and video's!
I have the following
ROM version: 1.66.405.2 (76641) WWE
ROM Date: 01/11/10
OS Version:5.2.21869 (21869.5.0.82)
Manilla Version:2.5.19211619.0
Any suggestions would be awesome, I want to start taking some quality pictures.
yeah, that pink spot wont go away. for you its worse, for me, its still there but barely noticable unless i point it out. once you see it, it'd never go away.
This is so annoying, I don't understand why HTC don't release a new fix? I mean this is kind of the reason why I got this phone, because of the "superior" 5 MP camera, as oppose to all the other phones out there.
It's ruined by this pink blob! I'm considering getting rid of my HD2 because of this issue.
If anyone knows how they can help, I'll be extremely grateful.
Disco.Ninja, maybe posting a shot of your screen to indicate the blob, please?
I've attached a picture for you.
It's a picture of a white sheet of paper, to illustrate the problem better.
Folks ~ On Aug 10, 2010 I purchased an unlocked HTC Legend (A6365 – HSPA 850/1900/2100 Mhz). The phone operated wonderfully until Sep 8, 2010. At that time, the Notification bar couldn’t be “pulled-down” anymore. Additionally, without rhyme or reason, when I touch the screen, the notification panel will open randomly. This renders the phone useless since every time I touch the screen, the notification panels opens. I tried a softboot and a factory reset. Neither action resolved the issue.
I contacted HTC USA support and they suggested clearing the calendar data and vigorously rubbing my hands together and then touch the screen whenever the issue occurred. No success. This issue occurs whether the SIM card is installed or not. I can safely say that no new applications were installed within 48 hours of the issue starting.
I search the available forums and found at least three other instances of this same issue. Regrettably, none of these threads have any answers to the issue.
HTC support then recommended for me to contact HTC Return Merchandise Authorization & Repair Center. This group (in the USA) cannot accept the phone for troubleshooting because this phone is not available in the USA.
Based on the behavior thus far, I suspect this is an issue with the firmware becoming unstable. The phone hasn’t been exposed to any drastic environmental changes (heat, cold, excessive dust, etc). Software info follows:
Firmware version: 2.1-update 1
Baseband version: 47.37.35.09U_7.09.35.05
Kernel version: 2.6.29-9e497c43
Build number: 2.02.666.3 CL1777708 release-keys
Software number: 2.02.666.3
Browser version: WebKit 3.1
By know, HTC should have received multiple complains of this issue and I hope they have a solution for it. The options of the phone are great, reception is wonderful and performance is superb (except for this issue).
Your assistance is greatly appreciated!
i had a similar behavior for just a wile and it was related to a screen protector i had on my legend.
after removing this and cleaning the screen very well it was gone
i suspect there was a conductible particle between the casing and the screen that mixed up the induction system of the touch screen.
sins then i have a little prog on my legend that shows the touch points he recognized : http://www.appbrain.com/app/com.batterypoweredgames.mtvistest
maby this is not related to your problem but you never know
Good luck
I have the exact same problem that occured after mounting screen protection.
I got the suggestion from support to do a factory reset.
I'll try that tonight.
I also saw this tip:
forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4894244&postcount=36
(I got this message when trying to post the link: "To prevent spam to the forums, new users are not permitted to post outside links in their messages. All new user accounts will be verified by moderators before this restriction is removed."
I look like an internal link to me)
Sounds possible since you have to puch the air out when mounting screen protection.
So perhaps to much pressure to the screen causes this problem.
Nope that didn't work...none of the proposals.
Next step, send it in for service.
I had this exact same problem! It also started happening after I applied a Zagg screen protector. I thought maybe it was because water got inside the phone.
I removed the protector since there was a hair underneath it but the problem persisted. I was having the exact same symptoms as you (notification area acting wonky).
I got the phone from future shop and they have a return policy... for $10 a month you can return the device at any time during your contract and get a brand new one no questions asked. This is what I did and my new one works perfectly.
As a side note..I originally had a palm pre which started acting strange so I brought it back for replacement and since future shop no longer supports the pre I was given a choice of a different phone. I chose the legend and absolutely love it. I loved the pre but the legend is a much better phone.
sorry for bringing an old thread up... but i have the same problem...
is there a solution to this? ... except RMA, because the warranty has just ended...
the notification wont swipe down and opens randomly... the screen has been tested and is workin ok...
thx...
Have you tried wiping your screen? I get this occasionally. But just wipe helps remote dirt that messes up the heat sensors away.
Sent from my HTC Legend using XDA App
You can try pressing harder digitizer just abowe home and menu button but that may work just temporarely. Replacing digitizer you will fix this problem once and for all... Sorry
Hello, Im new to this site and trying to figure out what could be wrong with this phone.
I bought it(tmobile hd2) off ebay with a cracked digitizer. I just finished replacing the digitizer last night. Everything seems to work fine except when I make or recieve a call Im not able to access the screen. The only thing i can do is push the end hard button. When I push the other hard keys they light up and flash real fast but the screen does not come on. Once i end the call everythings back to normal.
I dont dont really know all the functions of this phone so maybe its something as simple as a setting?
The phone was already unlocked, but im not sure if the previous user changed the software.
This is what the phone reads:
OS 5.2.21892(21892.5.0.89)
Manila version 2.5.20121412.2
ROM 2.13.531.1 (90963) WWE
ROM date 04/28/10
Radio 2.10.50.26
Protocol 15.39.50.07U
Sorry for the long post, just thought I'd give as much info as possible.
Any help would be appreciated!
There is two proximity sensors, just the the left of the earphone.
The phone is designed to switch off the screen when your ear is near - so you don't accidentally enable something by touching the touchscreen.
Make sure nothing is blocking this sensor (ie screen protector, etc). It could be that you may have disconnected the sensor. There are tweaks that can disable the sensor.
oh, ok, i know what your talking about. Its a lil clear plastic cube next to a lil round one?
i did cover it with the clear adhesive tape that i used to put on the digitizer.
is there any way i would be able to fix this issue? I had a pretty hart time taking off the cracked digitizer that I dont want to try and remove the new one, possibly damaging it.
Same problem here. I think the adhesive now blocks it.
But you say:
There are tweaks that can disable the sensor.
Where do I find these for android?
