Why doesn't it work over wifi
anyone have any idea?
I have the same problem. Set bands to GSM only, as I am in the US and can't receive 3G. Works with Edge data, but can't receive youtube videos on wifi.

it's really annoying and i can't find a valid reason as to why it won't work! this is only for the streaming media app by the way, youtube works fine. It comes up with an error message saying failed to find network
Has anyone resolved this issue with youtube in US on AT&T sim card? We can download videos on Edge network, but no download connection on wi-fi. I would really like to solve this, since we don't have the capability to download at 3G speeds. Can anyone help with this? thanks.

I got a new HTC touch 3g from Asia and have frustrating problem. On ATT network in US, when the call network switches between 3G and Edge the phone network becomes zero ( no bars) and the calls drop.
This is extremely annoying as the ATT network continuously changes from 3g and edge when driving/walking. Is there anyway to switch off 3g/edge because I don't have a data plan and I don't use the phone for internet.
Or is there a way to force it to be only edge?
Any help would be great!
do a search for nodata.cab, it's originally form the Modaco forum but i've seen it over here too, works great!
Thanks! Downloaded and changed the settings in nodata.
Any ideas how I can test that this works? I still see "E" next to the phone bars.
Thanks a lot.
I think this is no solution: NoData only stops data-connections and does not affect the connection-band that is used for communication with the base-stations of the network (for speaking and data). Your problem are the calls not the data connection that you do not use, IMO.
Try this: "Start/Settings/Telephone/Band" (translated from German). There you can preselect the Band(s) that is (are) used for communication globally.
Thanks. I don't have anything called "Band".
I tried using Bandswitch...has anyone tried it?

This sounds good, I do not know the exact English nomenclature because I have a German version. What type of network is displayed next to phone bars now?

gprs/edge can only be either data or voice. You shouldnt have this problem with 3g turned on.
It says 3g most of the time. I am in Chicago which has excellent 3g coverage. My TP2 never had this issue stock or cooked ROM.
I was under the assumption that only ATT had this capability.
Both T-Mobile and AT&T have the ability to handle voice and data simultaneously. I have found that the HD2 sometimes drops to 2g even though there is great 3g coverage here. I will say that the Nexus One was MUCH worse about this as it only allowed me to succesfully browse while talking one time over a three month period of ownership.
im in philadelphia and hav the same issuse now i know that the 3g server says voice and data and i hav seen sum things with data while in a call but not picture message i do remember seeing gps weather and facebook updates
Hi everyone I have a Verizon tab which u activated without 3g. I used the up down volume trick to by pass activation which worked well. The only problem I have is that whenever I want to stream videos I get a message saying no service. Even though I have a great wifi signal. If I turn the 3g radio on, even though its not active, shows that I'm roaming and still on wifi I can stream the videos. Its not a huge deal I guess to turn on the 3g radio but seems like I shouldn't have to do that.
Anyone else having this issue? Any advice? Thanks!
Any thoughts on this?

That's because you can't!
EDGE is 2G, and on 2G you don't get simultaneous voice and data.
If you are connected via 3G, you should be able to do it.

Dave
BTW, that T-Mo Tab doesn't support AT&T 3G frequencies normally, and I don't know if it has a soft radio to allow for flashing that kind of support or if it's still a "hard" radio like most phones and devices are.

It is a hardware limitation. T-mo tab=t-mo frequencies and no rom or modem flash or settings can change that. So EDGE will be the fastest cellular speed you can get. And no simultanious data/voice.
Ok I hope someone fix that edge issue. It would have been better that i had bought AT&T tab because of voice and 3G.
...so why did you buy thr t-mo version? This part lost me.

It isn't an EDGE "issue" because it simply isn't possible under EDGE!

Dave
First of all, it IS an issue. Agreed, you can't do both data and voice while on Edge. However, what happens is that if you are surfing on Edge (data) and you receive a call, your data connection drops off and allows the voice connection to take control!
pat123 but i did roto's 2g modem update. Do you know 2g and data works together?

Still not an issue, because that is under the carriers control to decide whether or not to prioritise voice or data. If you are on a network that supports NOM1, when an incoming call is received the *network* suspends your data connection to allow your call through. If however, you are on a NOM2 network, this does not happen, and no amount of ROM flashing or tweaking is going to make the slightest difference.
The point is that unless you are on a NOM1 network, there is nothing you can do about it from your phone!
Regards,
Dave
The technical term is network capability. That network is older than android.
Thanks all got it
I have a weird issue with the wifi hotspot on ZUK-Z1. I switch it on and it switches itself off again. Then gets in a loop. Off on, off on. Sometimes it will work for a few minutes.
I'm on EE UK 4g if that makes any difference
Anyone else have this issue? Or does anyone know if there is a fix?
Thanks
Men, i'm french, internet provider : Free (name)
And i have the same problem...
Yes, this is a bug in lineage-14.1-20170130-NIGHTLY-ham.
Hope that developers will fix it soon.

A workaround is to change to 3G just while the hotspot is on. That works for me. I don't use it too much anyway.
My first Z1 was stable as a rock but I have to say when I used mobile hotspot I was on 3G, that network did not provided 4G. Now I bought a second Z1 and I do see that this one is very unstable resulting that my laptop is "loosing" the hotspot and searching for another networks.
Will try this "trick"...I will see how it behaves in other locations to as it could be well that the old traditional building is somewhat blocking the signal.

There are no chances of it being a hardware issue. Because you told that it works fine when in 3G network. You can simply rule that out. And I don't think your network provider has something to do with turning on your hotspot! ???. It might be just a software bug. Are you on any custom ROM? If yes, then which?
Tried hotspot today in the same location but changed it into 3G instead of 4G...rock solid, no interruptions nor did my laptop disconnected once! I did read somewhere (was it here?) the the Z1 has less 4G freq bands explaining the unstable connection.
