AKU2.2 will re-enable clock in Title Bar

http://blogs.msdn.com/windowsmobile/archive/2006/04/28/586453.aspx
On the WM Team Blog they address the reaction to the nearly worthless battery icon replacing the clock. Good news is that ROMs using AKU2.2 and later will allow you to add the clock back in, bad news is that the current JasJar ROM (1.30.76) doesn't seem to have the 2.2 release of AKU.
Can people with other carrier's ROMs check to see if the registry edit they provide works with your ROM?
The egistry edit is to add a DWORD titled ShowTitleBarClock with the value of 1 in the HKEYLM/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Shell location.
Didn't work for me
Doesn't work in the latest dopod rom 1.30.111 either...
The message on the MS site is from yesterday, and the guy is speaking of a "further release", i think AKU 2.2 don't exist yet
btw: isn't working on my wizard too
AKU 2.2.1 exists...
this is the nessesery file, you need to replace the existing one with this one (windows directory)
and add
[HKEYLM/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Shell]
"ShowTitleBarClock"=dword:1
this is only for AKU 2.0!
!!!Attention: Make a backup and read through this tropic!!!
Problems with Universal roms!!!!
Perhaps related to the certification. Plz someone with removed certification try this... and post the results.
RE
The shell32.exe file in my QTEK 9000 is located in ROM something which you cannot copy out.
Does a soft reset reverts back to original battery icon if I'll to replace with the attached shell32.exe file?
After the battery icon is replaced by the clock icon, can I add a date to it also using any known method to put a date on top of the clock?
I believe a hard reset will definitely reverts back to the original battery icon, right?
Thanks
only a hard reset reverts back to the original.
add a date: I think so... not tested, but it should work.
I have a special rom where it is possible to overwrite system files, but It could be difficult to replase shell32.exe on a normal rom and I cant make a cab, because I dont know how to sign that.
plz someone with the knowledge about that make a cab.
don't bother, because even if you replace the shell32.dll, it wont restart, displaying the keyboard and getting stuck there.
You will have to hard reset and restore from a backup to get back your device.
A word of warning - back up before trying this. It hosed my universal. It would not even finish booting, and I had to hard reset.

Ok, I realy sorry.
It works for me...
Himalaya (rom based on 2.00a)
On my ROM (Qtek latest) in \Shell\Taskbar there's a regkey LimitedClock set to 1. If I set that to 0, the clock will at least display everywhere except Today, both in landscape and portrait modes. With it set to 0 as per standard, the clock only shows up while in apps *and* landscape, apps/portrait it doesn't. As long as the Today screen time&date plugin is switched on, this means you've always got the clock. BTW, needs a softreset to activate, Taskbar settings apparently are only read on first startup.

I'm sure you realise this is a universal forum? You should edit your post to remove your file before somebody else zaps it's unit.
I dont think so, because the os is the same.
My rom is not realy Himalaya, it is a ported wizard os and only the drivers of Himalaya.
So the file should work on all WM5 devices, perhaps the problem is related to the removed certification on Him 2.0 rom's.
(This file is from an Atom rom not Himalaya)
But you are right, I edited the post.
Disablesecurity.cab, replace shell32.exe with new, softreset
Hangs at boot with the soft keyboard superimposed over the boot screen. Hard reset to fix.
Basically, avoid this for a while.
......or use Wisbar Advance 2 and you have your clock back on the Today screen....
Cheers

You can access that feature simply by going to the date/time settings and enabling "Display the clock on the title bar in all programs" on the |More| tab.
O2 xda Atom have AKU2.2.1 and it really works no more battery icon.

Hello,
It is my first post on this forum.
Yesterday, I unlocked my frensh SPVM3000 (Wizard) and tried to replace my "shell32.exe" by the "shell32.exe" downloadable on this post.
It was a BAD idea! My SPV starting crashed because it was for Universal smartphone. I used the button sequence to re-install the original software.
Have you an address where I can download the "shell32.exe" of the Wizard AKU 2.2 software?
Thanks for your help.

After boot I saw strange info that following SW do not work.
1. psShutXP

5. plm_traylnch_182
6. PhoneService
7. IMSartup
8. pBar
The worst thing is that I cant use Contacts - it does not work
I hade the same situation when I used ROM: 6.1.2a16CS (WM6.1 AKU 1.0)
Could you help me to solve those problems, and find right rom for my PDA ?
rozkwit
did you do the last step in the flashguide where it tells you to
choose yes to clear register hive and clear storage?
if not do that
No,
I just install new rom on the boot mode, and restart it after.
Could you provide me instruction how to install WM6.1 correctly?
Piotr

Hello, I have the same probleme ! COuld you telle me how doing this ? Because I don't understand !
Great Thanks my friend
Now you have to hardreset your device.
Press ResetButton and hold down CameraButton + RecordButton.
Hold them pressed until the "Boot Options" menu appears on the screen.
Select the options as follows:
(for selecting use RecordButton, change values with CameraButton)
Enable KITL -> NO
Clean Registry Hive -> YES
Format Storage -> YES
Thanks for your answer,
But, my pda is not an HTC, but a MIO.
I use the hermes kitchne whiwh is compatible for my MIO.
So there is a problem on the rom !
Any idea ?
Great Thanks !
this is how it's don with htc himalaya dont know how MIO devices clear storage and registry but if wm5 and or wm6 was made for it
it have to be able to do it somehow
I had this issue when i was being lazy and not reading the instructions fully with my Himalaya. It only seemed to happen when going from one WM6 ROM to another and the, not so quick, fix was to flash back to the WM2003 each time.
Reading the instructions properly means i no longer have to do this.
Might work for you.

[TUT] HP iPAQ 61x, 91x Stuck @ Bootloader solition

Hi all.
I have 3 semi-brick iPaq device (612c, 614 and 912c). After do a ROM updrage from a bad miniSD card, these device onli show me HP logo when turn on. I'v search too many time and find a way to bring them back. @XDA-dev, I've saw someone have brick iPaq like me.
You need:
DNW (Include Driver file) http://www.mediafire.com/?zmnmzmwnjtk
Your device's Flash.DIO file. How to make a Flash.dio I'll post later. But you can found .DIO file via searching the web.
How to:
- Open DNW.exe, [Configuration] => [Option], change [Download Address] from 0xc000000 to 0x3000000
- Rename FLASH.DIO to FLASH.nb0
- Bring your Device too download mode: RECORD + OK + POWER or RECORD + OK + Reset to enter Download mode. Note: It's not Quanlcomm download.
- Plug your device to PC, and manually select driver to install (files are in SEC folder)
- Back to DNW.exe and [USB Port] => [UBOOT] => [UBOOT] and select Flash.nb0 just renamed and waitting for programed
I've done with these ipaq last week and return them to my customers. These Combine-key to enter download-mode can be wrong with 9xx device. I'll find another device to test later
This solution can change language of your device to language of .DIO file
How to make a .DIO file:
- You can download ROM update of your device from HP official web site.
- After download, extract (don't run) file to a folder by winrar, 7z or another archive manager. You'll see file named FLASH.NBF
- Open FLASH.NBF with a hex-editor like XVI32, and cut off first 3432 bytes. Then save file as FLASH.DIO.
- Now you can do a flash with this .DIO file and a micro-SD card, or with DNW tool at first post.
Great, thanks Paloma!!!
ipaq 614c resurrected with this great util.
Thank you.
P.D. Hp repair cost me 246 euro replacing all mainboard
Paloma, i have the same problem, but with a ipaq 6915. It is always into initial screen with blue screen and HP logo and in the botton right corner saying "No GSM" and ROM version. I would like test this solution, but when i run UBOOT the program always say, "Can´t open USB Device". I have installed the driver and it still saying the same.
Other cuestion. When you say "Download Mode" it is the same than "Bootloader Mode"?. Thanks
hi Carlengue.
This solution isn't apply to HP 6xxx.
I've got some ideal to help you, but now I ca'n 'cause I'm not at home, without my PC/laptop. I'll PM you later, ok?
i can't find the proper key combination. I've ipaq 914c
@ Carlengue:
Follow this link: www.mediafire.com/paloma and goto folder PPC tool. Download Uni_exitbootloader and run it with your phone plugged and active-sync disabled. Then you can try with one of two ROM I've uploaded (I don't know wich device you have, G3 or G4)
@ Ericco: I'm verry sorry, I'm in traveling and cannot find a HP-9xx now to test combine key for you. Can you try with VOLUME(up or down) + Record (or Camera) and Power (or Reset).
I'm sorry again about this incompatible.
Still can't find the proper combination.
Ok. I found it
Volume UP + OK (on side) + Reset
Rom on my 914c changed from NDL to ENG yeah
Hello Paloma,
Thanks very much for this info.
I have not used it yet but I can appreciate the knowledge since I had a bricked 612c previously and had to wait for 2 weeks for it to be fixed, I tried various software at the time but couldn't get to work.
I would like to kindly ask if you could please explain to us how we could modify a flash.dio or build a custom one. I want to know how I can modify Windows Startup files and decide on what software I want to have installed by default, etc... (that would be greatly appreciated).
Thanks heaps

Yes you can back to orginal ROM. Or you can download official WWE-ROM for 914 from HP support site and follow post #2 to get .DIO file

Is there any way?

I'm very sorry, I'm on TET (Lunar-new-year) holiday now. I'll back to work after few days. Can you wait?
While, could you try to remove battery for a long time and insert back. Or try to enter boot-loader.
Camera's flash always lihgt => I think it's premotion of hardware failure.

"De-Branding" HP 910c...

Hello folks,
I'm rather new to all of this, but I've come across a problem I can't seem to work out on my own.
I purchased a second-hand HP 910c, which had WM 6.1 but in French. It is also "branded" with Rogers software as well. I followed the instructions here to "flash" a ROM on the device which worked fine... but as soon as I boot up the device, it says that there are updates available for my device, and doesn't let me do anything else until I install them. Turns out the "updates" are in fact Roger's software installing on my device, and also UNINSTALLING other useful programs!
What I hope you can help me out with is - how do I disable that automatic update? I think it's called "IPAQ CUSTOMIZATION" or something like that?
Sounds like you've got some Canuck in your extended ROM! See if this works for you: hard reset, and as soon as you see the "updates available" screen come up, soft-reset. (It won't hurt your device, promise.) If I've guessed right, your device will restart but none of the Rogers software will be installed.
I tried that - it still comes up with "HP IPAQ CUSTOMIZATION" upon reboot.
Almost as if there's a file in a "Start-Up" type folder... but I can't go anywhere past that install screen to see...
Any ideas?
i think the only way to disable ipaq customization is to edit the rom initflashfiles.dat under OEM_Lang to take it out from start

Is there a tutorial around for that, or to get me started?
Also - I'm loading a ROM from here to change the language... does that matter?
gfinockio .. have you had any luck with this?
Yeah, sort of a fluke really. I updated to one of the 6.5 ROMs, didn't like it, so I went back to a 6.1 ROM from HP. That seemed to do it!
I think the key is to do a "full" flash of the ROM. You can't use the SDLoader method, because that just flashes the OS. Using the official update from HP, with the software, should work. There is a package somewhere on these forums that is a "hacked" version that ignores language as well. Take a search (I'd use "minutes" as a key, because that's in the thread!) and keep us updated.
What happens is the clean boot image has a link to the HP customisation program in the windows\startup folder. The way to avoid this program from running is hence to remove this link from the startup folder.
My way of doing this is to connect the iPaq to my PC before starting the iPaq. When the iPaq starts, the screen asking you to click to start the customisation will come up, but until you click, the program will not run yet. In the background, while you can't see it (the customisation screen won't give way to anything else), other programs including Activesync will still run. You can therefore, from the PC, explore into the startup folder and delete the link to the customisation program, all without clicking on the iPaq and hence before the customisation has a chance to run. You can then soft reset, and with the link removed from startup, customisation will not start.

Yeah, I tried that too... but if you flash again (without doing a FULL flash), it might come back on next reset, or for sure on next flash.
The good news is - it IS possible to get rid of it.

My Topaz wants to shutdown everytime I turn on the device

Hi
I have this problem after install and reinstall some apps in order to get a simple program to do softresets in my Topaz (D2):
Every time I turn on my D2, and inmediatly after to input my pasword, it opens the menu asking me if I want to turn off my device (see screenshot).
I think one of the apps that I tested has made some changes in the registry, but I have no idea about where can I find these changes.
Someone can help me? maybe someone knows which part of the registry I must look to solve my problem...
Diamond 2

Windows Mobile 6.1

Solved: One of the apps installed a file called "ShutXP" in the "Windows/Start" folder. I deleted this file and it solved my problem.
Sorry for a stupid and auto-solved post
