Unlocking the MyTouch 3G - myTouch 3G, Magic General

Hey. I recently won a MyTouch 3G, altough I live in Sweden, so I can't use my own operator...
How can I use my own sim card and operator?
I have to unlock the phone, right? Where can I get a code without buying it? Or can I flash the phone so it gets unlocked?
Thanks in advance.

Your going to have to buy it. I have been told that theres a place on ebay that does the MT3G for $12.
Who did you win the phone from? Is it new?

From htcpedia.com - a very good site. And yes, it's new.
I've been talking to T-mobile, but they refered me to HTC to get an unlock code... So I guess we'll se what happens.

I got my phone about a month before they released it to the public. When I contacted T-mobile for the unlock code they has to request it from HTC. They said it would take 2-14 days...... I got the code 6 weeks later.

Damn..that's unbelievable!!!

I got my myTouch through T-Mobile in early August and contacted them about unlocking it a few weeks later, prior to what I thought was going to be a several-week trip to Canada. At first I was told I'd be sent the code/instructions within 24 hours. I called back 24 hours later when nothing came and was told that the 24-hour turnaround was mistaken because the phone was so new, therefore they'd have to go through HTC to get it; and they'd send it to me whenever they got it from HTC. That was about 5 weeks, and I've still not seen anything (although I haven't called them back again yet, either, as my trip ended up only being one week and I turned out to not need phone service much while I was there, so I ended up not being too concerned about it).

I would call them back now. I called them 4 weeks later nd it still took them 2 weeks to get it to me. The unlock code just makes your phone more valueable.

Ebay, swift unlocks sells unlock codes, 12.85 US, I think...I have bought 2, and both were there within a couple of hours...

yeah i did , i asked them for one on the 15th of may (told them i was going out the country hehe) and they said wait 7-14 days, and i didnt get anything so on the 15th day i contacted them and they said they would escalate it, and one hour later i got it . so in all it took 15 days!!! if you cant wait that long i say buy an unlock code of ebay.

Same story. But at least TMO unlock is free
similar story, they say they have to ask htc for them
took them about ten days for me, after I'm already in another country.
I had my unlock code within 5 days of calling T-mobile. I was told they have to get the code from HTC so the time can be variable.
Thats odd, normally its in 24hrs unless there is other issues than I'd say no longer than 5BD's... I've had customers get it in 24hrs... in any case 15 days is wayy long

I have you actually tried calling them back or are you just sitting there wait? I ask because most people are not proactive in taking care of things like this and blame T-mobile.
72 hours is what it normally is unless there is something going on and is harder to unlock.

I'd forgotten about it until seeing this thread. Contacting them again today. Would think one wouldn't have to badger them so much
yea i did and they told me i will get it in 24 to 48hrs and i did
Noob question: what would an unlock code be used for? International travel?

It's necessary for that, or for any time the phone is used on any network other than the home one (T-Mobile in this case)...for example, people who want to use the phone on AT&T
I got it in 2 days after initially being denied by customer rep. I escalated it to our business sales team and showed them proof that I was going on international trip. Cust Service did not give initally since I had been with Tmobile for 10 days.
never asked but know that it can take a few dayz plus ur account must be in good standing meaning u owe no bill plus also i cant say they will give it to u if ur on that payment plan for the device
Every time I have needed to get an unlock code from T-Mobile I have received it in about 24 hours. I use my phones in Asia or Europe at least once a month with zero problems.

After contacting them yesterday and opening a new request, the code was delivered this morning. They claim to have to contact the manufacturer... I think they just playing weird games. They even asked what country I was going to. If they checked the last 3 years of service records for raoming they would easily know heheh

Unlock x10

I am searching for a method to unlock the x10 but i can cat the right method.
For the unbrand method ( by flash another firmware ) i cant find the dutch rom.
At the other program i must by credits over a paypall acount but i dont have paypall and the unlock must be done as soon as possible.
So what is the best and the fastest way to unlock the x10i branded from HI in holland?
( sorry for my bad english but as you can see i am from holland )
You can unbrand it.
Unbranded dutch rom can be found here
But you should know that unbranding your device doesn't unlock it. So you still won't be able to use non-Hi/KPN sim-cards.
If you do want to unlock you can buy the unlock code from Hi, but that'll cost you €68,- i believe.
I used unlocking.com and paid £19.99 and got my unlock code in approx 24hrs and it worked fine...

I thought unbranding remove the simlock
I cannot contact HI about it becouse i dont have a HI number. I chance the x10 fore my vivaz pro and not the numbers.
The only way to unlock the x10 is to order a unlock code and wait for a couple of days?

After a week waiting for unlocking.com to get my unlock code, I got nervous and went to htccode.com for it. Surprisingly, this guy did it in 10 minutes, so I really recommend the service in there. A bit pricey (40$), but definitely worth it. Nice support, and really fast. Comparing it to a week of waiting and asking to support service what the hell was going on, it's definitely worth the price.
Regards!
I am trying to get unlock code for my new X10a (Rogers). I tried from ebay and again yesterday from http://www.cellunlocker.net/. Both took about a day each and sent message saying there is no unlock code for my IMEI. Do newer Roger phones take time to get unlock code? I am now worried. The phone is brand new and I opened it. It's clearly Rogers branded.

From which place?
My xperia x10 was locked to orange. I did a lot of research and like so many ppl i placed an order at unlocking com. After waiting for 8-10 days, they replied that the code couldnt be found. Out of options i tried htccode To be true i was a bit afraid by reading lot of bad stuff about htccode. But in the end it worked pretty well. During the whole process i was in touch with the support rep and effectively it took only 5-10 mins to complete the process. I know the price is a bit high 40USD but in my opinion it is worth spending.
PS: The views expressed in this post are of author's only. I am not advertising htccode neither do i have any affiliation with them.
Cheers!

I am not willing to spend over $10 . Anway, the Locked Rogers X10a I have right now is in Black and I really don't like it as much as I like my white X10i. So, ordered an unlocked White X10a this time and will sell my black X10a if I can't get it unlocked in a week or so. If I can get it to unlock I might just use it and give the white X10a to my wife.

How sketchy are the ebay unlockers?

I have not ever done this before, but I found this one
http://cgi.ebay.com/UNLOCK-Code-AT-...Accessories&hash=item1c138c9851#ht_4764wt_913
I was wondering if any of these are legit or do they all fall into the realm of too good to be true. I have called at&t and they stated that I could not have an unlock code so that is why I am going down this route, if it turns out to be legit.
Anyway I welcome your feedback about what may be just a dumbass question, LOL.
p.s. the only reason I am looking at this guy's page is that he has +50000 reviews with 99.8% quality.
my one experience with an ebay unlock code was it bricked the phone I was using. After doing further research I found that this was a constant for that phone. I have not seen any posts about unlocking an Aria yet but I also have not been looking for them since I am on AT&T so there is no need to unlock the phone for a different carrier currently.
that's the same guy i used to unlock 3 at&t phone. i never had a problem
If you are going out of the country then call att and tell them that. they will give you your unlock code for free all youll have to do is get a different (Non att) sim.

They changed that policy. Now you have to wait for your contract to run out before they will unlock your phone, even if you tell them you're traveling. I tried calling them and having them unlock it, and that's what they told me. I was really disappointed too, because they've unlocked my phone before and never gave me any trouble because of the contract.
Maybe if I had threatened to unlock it anyhow, I might have had better luck– but I doubt it.
Ya I tried calling them too. Told them my situation and it was denied. I guess I will try this guy. At the most I am out 10 bucks.

Strange, I just re-upped my contract when buying my Aria, and unlocked my phone with the code from ATT tech support for free. I do go internation a few times/year, so that may be a flag that I am not entirely lying, but it was no problem. Also, I used chat, instead of phone...they gave the my code in 10 seconds.
So I took the plunge. Fast service from this guy. Bought yesterday and got today. Went by t-mobile store and borrowed a sim. Put in unlock code and let me in the system. Rebooted to verify with t-mobile sim. Did not ask for code the second time.
Altogether happy. Me -$13.00. Phone unlocked.
Buyer beware. Cannot guarantee same results.

just curious so please forgive me but how did that go, you walked into store..umm, can I borrow a sim ? they just hand them out to try out ?
I spoke with ATT tech (actually chat and then called to verify..) and they said they will give unlock code in 90 days from day of activation, no problem on their part, no cost.
i'm curious about all this too and still with a locked HTC Aria.
I went to the ebay link and read everything.
At some point it says:
"...be advised I cannot do refunds if phone asking for a PIN (personal code) which is password set on the phone (?)"

Well if this is my phone and I have the personal password, then I might have it.
When inserting a SIM card the phone says:
"SIM network unlock PIN", SOOOOO, I don't get it... will write the guy an email about it and hear what he says about it...
Eager to unlock this phone!
So..
1. I have heard various things from people regarding what AT&T will do for them. I would call them first and if they will unlock it for you then great. I spoke to them and they would not give it to me and told me that they had an exclusive right to the phone for the foreseeable future.
2. I did just walk into the t-mobile store and ask for a sim. The girl looked at me puzzled and said they are 20 bucks. I told here I need it for five seconds to unlock my phone. She said that Phones don't do that. I said that I have the code. She gave me a used sim.
In conclusion I think that I did go searching for a credible way to do this. I don't want a million people telling me what at&t's policy is since I did call them though. At any rate I did unlock my phone so I am good.

May I ask you and if you remember what was the message the phone displayed before you unlock it with the t-moblie SIM card?
It was the message "SIM network unlock PIN" or what did it say?
I believe what you did, I've done certain type of things in past, walking into a store and asking for those sort of things... lol... great that it worked!
Ya it was something like "SIM NETWORK UNLOCK" not a personal unlock and I had to put in the 8 digit unlock code I bought off ebay. The previous post of mine was just about all the people stating all the AT&T policies that they have heard of and asking why I didn't just call them when I stated in my first post that I did. Also ya social engineering worked great there as they gave me some old sim to use they they found in a desk that didn't work but had a different network ID on it so it would prompt me for the SIM UNLOCK code.
seems then that I 'm having the same message, will try buying a code from the ebay guy then.
thanks a lot for your response.
PS. Calling AT&T wont work for me either as I bought the phone through ebay and I have not and will never have AT&T phone # or something to just simply call them and say 'hey I bought one of your phones over ebay, would you please give me the unlock code?' lol...
just bought a code from the ebay seller... will see how it develops and if the code works.
I will post results and everything related once I have the code
universal Sim
I have tried a few online sellers and they say a code is not available for my aria. Bummer, hopefully that will change. I remembered I had one of those universal sim chips like a Rebel Sim. I sort of works. Sometimes when I turn the phone on I can manually choose the network and get service, but most of the time it won't connect. Maybe I can buy a newer version of the universal sim.
Well dude, I got to say that the ebay deal really worked for me!!! Couldn't be more happy!
Was a little skeptical about it but just got the code on the email minutes ago and worked right away!!!
Cost me 9.95 because the price was reduced and paid with PayPal. Bought it in the morning and got the code minutes ago.
There's another ebay seller with the same price/offer which seems to work too (good feedback too)

What phone did you tried to unlock?
---------------
Thanks to breakeven and xda-developers forum!!!
I decided to test this out today for fun.
I tried 3 different ebay unlockers (all were rated as top-sellers) and all 3 were unable to unlock my off-contract Aria (from Amazon). They did, however, offer to try on another server, at around 2-3x the original cost, which I refused and was refunded my money.
I really don't care if my Aria can be unlocked since I have no intention of leaving AT&T anyway, but I thought I'd share MY experience with the rest of you. YOUR experience may vary.
On a side note, I unlocked 2 different models of Blackberry (again, just for fun) a few days ago using one of those ebay sellers with no problem. So I wouldn't worry too much about getting ripped off (as long as they are top rated sellers).
tongas
hey tongas would you mind telling us which ebay seller unlocked you Aria?
Thanks

HTC HD2 unlocking issues

I just got a brand new HTC HD2 (had for about a 2 weeks) and no one seems to have a unlock code for it. I have tried htcimeiunlock.com and unlocking.com and both fail to find a code (got refunded though). Contacted t mobile about a week ago and they said the code would take up to 48 hours. Its been way pass that. So my question is, how long would i have to wait for htcimeiunlock.com or unlocking.com to refresh their codes? Any other solutions other than wait?
T-Mobile took over a week to get mine. They did come through with it though.
Was your hd2 new?
Yes, but T-Mobile doesn't care so long as you are a T-Mobile contract customer. My contract at the time I asked had lapsed but my understanding is that so long as you're a post-paid customer in good standing with some sort of tenure they'll give you the code for a device you actually own, provided they distributed it.
They said they had to go to HTC for the code and could not generate it themself.

Able to unlock to use ATT sim.?

I have a tmob s7 e that is not able to be unlocked yet by customer service. Is there a paid service I can use to unlock it so I can use an ATT sim?
i have mine unlocked thru cellunlocker and it works! went thru 2 fw updates still unlocked.
You can buy the unlock from ebay, search for tmobile app unlock, 6 bucks, 2-3 hours wait time.
Just did mine a few days ago, cause I was tired of waiting for tmobile to clear my phone, cause it's been on the network since release and paid off.
Its alot quicker if you use their twitter customer support. No hold times or waiting and they type in English and easy to understand. Got mine unlocked easy that way.

The one I bought said 1-24hrs I believe, but I got it within 2-3 or so, just get one that says 24hrs or so, waited this long, what's another day or two?
They unlocked mine for free I told them I was going out of the country for vacation and they temporary unlocked mine for a month and then when it expired after they said they'd reunlock it for another month before it expired which they didn't they permanently unlocked it for me and I'm on jump on demand with the device so I had no intention of paying off the phone fully.
