I was using wmwifirouter (never had problems) connected to my netbook which runs windows 7. Anyway, I figured I would have my phone connected to the USB while it still gives me internet (needed to be charged). Well I noticed it tried to connect to the computer instead so I unplugged it. It was not working wmwifirouter so I reseted. Now I cannot get wifi working. I went to Wireless LAN and it said driver is not loaded. Someone please help me. I searched but couldn't find an answer. Thanks guys.
Ok so I used this cab and it worked. Sorry I should of searched a little longer but I panicked.

You can do it through USB, Bluetooth or IrDA.
These instructions are for universal, but the same applies for TyTN:
BlueTooth
IrDA
USB

DUN
Is there a way to use DUN now that it's been disabled because of Internet Sharing?
New Tyten and Vista
Ok, I've been through the 3 ways to connec as a modem, I actually manged to connect ages ago with XP.
I now have a new Tyten, well new for the states but probably old in the rest of the world.
Anyway the New Tyten has a thing called Internet Sharing instead of wireless modem
None of the old settings are there anymore.
It also has a new way to connect via Blue Tooth Pan.
I've tried the Pan way but I had no luck, the connection seemed to work but I couldn't get on the internet.
I then tried USB, I couldn't get Vista to recognise the Tyten, even when I turned off the active synch, anybody got any ideas????
with Vista and WM6 internet sharing I think its easier than DUN. there is a whole how to in the help program on your hermesjust open the help app and search for internet sharing. just make sure your phone and laptop are connected via bluetooth and then open the internet sharing app and click connect make sure its set to bluetooth PAN. on my laptop I have a little bluetooth icon when its on so I right click that and then connect via persoanl network and then a little pop up pops up and I click on the connect bottun and it connects in about 15 seconds pretty easy! I know for USB you have to open the WMDC connection settings and uncheck allow usb connections.
Thanks
Cheers for that, I'll give it a go, although to be honest I've been trying it all afternoon..
I get the connection but no Internet connection..
Help Still needed
Ok, the plot thickens, I found drivers on the HTC Europe site to connect your Hermes to Vista.
I uninstalled all of the previous active synch hardware and also thre previous modem
When I plug the phone in it doesn't open the new downloads.
Any ideas, I'm running Windows 5.1, is there an official Windows 6 I can update to?

this may help...
For anyone having trouble getting their laptop to recognize the 8525 as a modem this may be the solution.

my phone was working fine but when I tried to set my wife's up to tether it wouldn't show new hardware found when plugged in and when I tried to manually install the driver the process bix just kinda stalled out and wouldn't go forward with the driver even though I had browsed to the right one. I had to uninstall the driver which was viewing the phone as a serial device. if you're having this trouble then try following te directions in the link above. it worked for me...
This is now driving me mad. I had problems with my LAN connection on PC and removed Activesync 4.2 during trouble shooting. Once I had resolved the LAN problem I reinstalled Activesync 4.2 and everytime I try to connect my universal via USB it crashes the PC.
I have exited my firewall (ZoneAlarm and Sprite backup) but still same result I have even deleted the previous setup for PC from both hand held and PC.
It all works fine on my laptop and have not found anything regarding this on the forum or via Google.
All help appreciated as I am now out of ideas.
had a similiar problem once, it was caused by the lan card, they were sharing the same ports as the usb port so it caused the computer to crash, maybe if you look at your device manager.
or try to deactivate your LAN conection (right click) and then activesync, if it works it probably is the port sharing thing
I also have trouble with activsync causing my wifi internet connection to cease working every time i connect my atom via usb. Once the internet connection goes down the only way i can get it to start again is by a restarting my laptop.
any ideas.

I also have this problem. did u manage 2 solve?
this is a hardware conflict issue. see whats sharing the irq with the usb.
i have found before that a xda connected to a usb2 port was conflicting with a built in usb1 port that a mouse was connected to.
you may have to change the irqs used in bios.
thanks for the reply, could you elaborate a little.
cheers nipple
Thanks for the advice but afraid to no avail.
But have solved the problem by closing Activesync and Sprite backup via Windows Task Manager successively connected PPC and the restarted the above applications. Who knows what was causing the crashing as I checked everything no hardware conflicts IRQ's nothing but as I say the above worked and I am happy again
Hi Guys finally i get this nice device but it seem to don't like my MacBook..
For Sync i used the Missing Sync programm and all work Good but for going in Internet using my Trinity as a modem it NO WAY...
Who can slove this problem?
Have you try to use it as a Modem for an apple copmputer?
Thx a lot Guys!
Try this: go to Settings, Connection, USB to PC and uncheck "Enable advanced network functionality". This way the phone should be recognised as a USB modem.
(I don't have a Mac so I haven't tried this myself)
thx i try it but it doesn`t work!
I try on xP and i have the same problem!

I certainly have been trying... the first thing that I find is that when I connect it to the Apple using the USB cable is that it doesn't recognise it. Has anyone had more success with this? The only problem is that I can't remember what happened when I first connected it - perhaps it asked me to set up a connection and I got it wrong. This is my first return to Macs in ten years, so I was a little overwhelmed by trying to get familiar both with it and with a new phone (Dopod D810).
If I did set up a connection... (!) then I think the connection is called "SerialPort-1", and the network report says that it is configured, but not connected. I don't seem to be able to delete it and start again. Maybe the Mac isn't even recognising the USB connection?...? Any feedback would be much appreciated!
This has been discussed many times - no DUN service with Trinity ...
But no problem going online with your MacBook. Make sure you update to the latest OSX.
Then delete old bluetooth connections to Trinity on your MacBook and reconnect using bluetooth
Then start Internet connection sharing on your Trinity - then click on the bluetooth symbol (top right) on your MacBook and choose the New Option connect to Bluetooth Pan (your owner name)
Hope it helps
I've been trying to tether my mogul to my desktop through ICS to no avail. The more I try the worse I seem to make it. I read through all the forums and found the registry hacks/internet fix sharing.cab.
I downloaded the registry editor however I do not have a Internet Sharing directory under the Comm directory.
My next step was to try using the available internet sharing fix.cab (from ppcgeeks) and it seems to be a big mistake. First the connect button under ICS was grayed out. I followed directions to change the connection name from Sprint PCS to Sprint. That went ahead and added a connection named sprint which didn't work so I deleted it and left the original Sprint PCS connection which seemed to help with the problem.
Now wmwifirouter isn't working. One positive thing happened though, ICS is connected without the error 67 crap, but desktop still can't connect since it has "limited or no connectivity" (through usb). When I click on repair, I get an error renewing the ip address.
Can anyone help???
Thanks
Bump?
Somehow wmwifirouter is working again... not sure how. I went into remove programs and removed the internet sharing cab fix program and that seemed to do it.
So now I'm back at square one. WMwifirouter works and ICS doesn't. ICS now has the connect button greyed out but I guess that's ok since I'd rather have wmwifirouter working and ICS not than have them both not working. If anyone has successfully been able to tether through usb with the wm6.1 please help.
Thanks
I've never had the need to use WMWifiRouter as a 3G to USB connection, but my modem at home is dead and won't be replaced until Tuesday. 3 days is quite a ways to go without Internet! So, I used WMWifiRouter 1.51 to enable the 3G to USB connection for my desktop PC.
After I was done with the 'net, I turned off WMWifiRouter and unplugged my phone. I then realized I needed to upload a few things on my phone, so I plug it back in to use it as a storage device. Problem is, my computer immediately detects my phone as a tether rather than the storage device. I've enabled the option so my phone asks me what type of connection it wants to create, but my computer keeps forcing the tether instead.
I know it's the way my computer is seeing my Touch Pro 2, but I was hoping somebody else may have run into the same issue before and found a resolution.
Thanks in advance!
I just used WM last night as a test, and then finally sync'd up my outlook 2000 contacts and calendar today.
Are you absolutely sure that WM has stopped running? I know on my diamond, the task manager option would NOT show some running apps after it was running without a soft reboot for like 2 months.
I haven't tried a "storage connect" yet though, I don't think I've ever used that.
I am absolutely positive it has stopped running completely. I used the built-in task manager with SKTools to verify. Even after a soft reset on my phone, my computer still does it.
Like I said, I know it's just the way my computer is now detecting my phone, but I was hoping somebody here had the same problem in the past.
I find it a little funny... I used my phone as a temporary solution to not having internet at home and now it only leads to more problems
Try uninstalling the drivers that your computer installed for the TP2, it would be in the Control Panel->Device Manager . Honestly i have no clue which one they would be but by doing this your computer will have to reinstall the USB drivers for your phone and re-recognize your phone.
Tried it. My computer installed it as a modem, but uninstalling the drivers didn't help. My comptuer would still detect it every time and reinstall the modem drivers.
Hard resetting my phone fixed this. It's the worst solution, yes, but it still worked. Fortunately, it only takes about 20 minutes to get everything back in order once more.
Thanks for the help anyways.
UPDATE: Ran into the same problem again last night. Fortunately, I found a better solution.
I made the USB to PC connection automatically connect to ActiveSync and disabled "Enable faster data synchonization." Disconnected and reconnected my phone and I was able to use the Disk Drive option once more without having my PC automatically see it as a Windows Mobile Modem
