Just got this phone in and it starts up and stays on smart mobility. Already tried hard reset with full battery and it still stays at the same place smart mobility. this is my first htc so if someone would guide please already have active sinch installed but what else do I need to work on htcs thank you.
If its a new device (or newly hard-reset) the Smart Mobility screen can stay on for anything up to 5 whole minutes until it goes to Windows Mobile.
If it goes past 7 minutes, I'd return to manufacturer or wherever you got it from.
If its a new device.
Send it back for a one-to-one exchange, no point waiting for Windows Mobile to start.
You can try to re-hard reset it.

Anyways I've got the Wizard and for what ever reason screen alignment has been off so i try calibrating and a no go, the center of the screen seems dead as it doesn't respond and I tried a hard reset. Now it's stuck on the Alignment screen and i cant use the phone.
Two questions, a) is there a way to flash it back to the regular Windows Mobile 5 so i can send it to HTC or Cingular who ever takes care of repair so they don't go wtf! You have a modded rom! even though the rom isn't the problem.
b) is there a way to atleast skip the alignment so i can use the phone?
Try http://www.htcamerica.net/support/8125/software-downloads.html -- should be the shipped ROM.
Thanks, Cingulars sending me a new phone. Is there a way to call cingular or go somewhere to get my text messages that are still on the network? I have a few new ones from after the point where i reset my phone so they're still on the network. I dont have another cell phone to use so that's not an option.
Or how about somehow avoiding the touch screen alignment?
Hi Everyone
I have a dopod d810 (im pretty sure that my dopod is the samne phone as the trinity, since dopod was bought out from htc, the name was changed) that turns on, The HTC screen comes up first (htc made the phone, well dopod did but htc bought the dopod company out)then it just stops and wont go any further. Usualy when I turn on the phone, the HTC screen comes up first then windows mobile 6 loads up etc. I contacted the 3 helpdesk and told them all this and they said that often its a software issue and taking it to a service centre and getting them to reinstall the phones software (from what the service tech told me, they wipe everything and reinstall the phone software and windows mobile 6) should fix the problem.
What I am wondering about is, how do they reload the software in? And is there anything I can try before I haveto take the pda to a service centre? I did a search on the net and the only thing I came accross was a bit of info that says if you want to delete everything on your mobile, hold down the power and reset button using a pin or stylus and this will delete everything and restore the factory settings etc.
If anyone has ever had a similar problem to mine, was it as simple as taking it to a phone service guy to reload the phone software or was it something to do with the hardware. I would like to know because reloading the software apparantly only takes about an hour and I can wait at the service centre, but if it is something more serious like a hardware problem, then thats a realy different story. I know its realy difficult to diagnose these kind of things like this, but as I said before, if someone has had the same problem Ive had, and it was a simple matter of redoing the software then I would realy appreciate knowing. The tech said that since it atleast turns on and the HTC screen shows up, then it "may" be software.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Argh
Hi everyone. I cant believe how easy it is to have fixed this problem. I just did a hard reset. I didnt even think to do this, but I didnt think it would work unless I was in the windows mobile 6 environment. I thought the phone was dead, I guess I assumed the worse since this has never happened before. I just saved myself about $150
Hi to everyone!
I have O2 maybe 10 months and I flash my phone few times, last time was today and every thing working fine.
And,
my friend came with same phone and I done same like on my phone, I flashed all parts with Octane 2.14. During process everything look fine.
When phone start, windows stuck in Align Screen, I can do this countless time and windows don't accept this just repeat this.
So please any help about this will be very appreciated, or some advice.
I must fix that soon, if it is possible, because he must go to trip, and I must save friendship.
Many thanks to everyone who just to try think about this!!
Hey guys,
I was updating my Focus earlier today. It went through the process fine until the last restart step of the last update(there were 2 or 3 in total), when it seemed to just hang on the Samsung loading screen. I left it for about 10-15 minutes, but I had to go catch a bus so I had to unplug the phone and go.
Bad choice on my part. Reading online after the fact informed me the Focus could hang for a while on the Samsung loading screen at that step of the update. And now, since I interrupted the update process, its been bricked for me. Whenever I turn it on, it just stays on the Samsung loading screen. It will not be recognized by Zune, or my computer at all. I can get it to go to the hard reset screen, but nothing seems to come of that (I let it go for intervals of 15 minutes, as a few sites advised, to 45, with nothing occuring).
I'm trying leaving it on the Samsung focus screen for a few hours. If that fails, I'll leave it on overnight in the hard reset download mode. I dont have much hope though, and I'm wondering if any of you guys know anything I could try to fix it.
Thanks a bunch.
I'm pretty sure you can get to download mode and flash one of the original focus roms. Just head over to the Focus development section and reflash the rom. Make sure you flash the right one in regard to rev version. The thread will give you all the directions you need.
Figured i'd include the link just to make it a little easier. I hate bricking phones haha. Good Luck

I flashed the Omnia 7 ROM onto my samsung focus after the memory was ruined by a bad microsd card (had only 15mb of memory, many people have had this issue from what i read). The unique problem is after flashing the samsung omnia 7 ROM onto the phone it now will not load past the samsung load screen it just stays frozen.
I have flashed every ROM possible onto the phone and it will not complete and just freezes on the samsung screen despite seeming to complete on the computer and even on phone to extent (shows the green loading bar on bottom while flashing). I figrue by this point one of you smart guys have figured out how to solve this. I would love to replace my HTC surround with my focus to refresh things.
PLEASE somone help me... Can someone at least confirm the phone is useless, and if so what I should do with it? Or is it possible that I can unlock it again somehow.

The low storage issue from adding a mSD card would have been resolved with a simple HARD RESET.
Right now you need a backup of your phone, made before the flashing with Omnia bits. Someone else had this issue, read here. This is also for the specific thread you opened here.
*noob*
My phone froze during the update for 7.5... Zune gave me an error code but wasn't able to write it down. The phone froze on the left arrow and the red "do not remove" symbol for about 30 mins before i unplugged it and turned it off. When i turned on the phone it stayed on the samsung logo and did nothing. i did a hard reset i still got the same thing. Then i took out the memory card and reset, still the same stuck on samsung. Then i called samsung and the walked me through a reset/reformat By pulling out the sim card then Holding down the camera/volume/power at the same time until it vibrates then after just hold down the camera and volume down, click the windows icon to reformat, still stuck on the Samsung logo!!!!
I'm going to try this flash thing... We will see how it goes i'm a noob
Interesting Samsung gave you that advice.
First thing you should have done is connect it with Zune started and it should have continued the process as long as there wasn't a fatal error.
Flashing UCJK2 should work in your case (assuming you have 1.3 hardware).
Flashing any and all ROMS will not work, keeps freezing at the samsung logo screen after seeming to finish, can't get god damn phone to lauch up, then I could connnect it to zune and exhaust mroe resources. samsung just sent me a bad phone and it stinks.

As I said and the per the info in the thread above, you need to restore from backup. Most likely flashing any rom is not working.
If you tinkered by flashing unknown bits and without taking precautionary measures, don't blame others.
I was not blaming anyone, the only reason i started flashing was because a microsd card ruined the phone down to 15 mb and no matter what method i used to reset the phone it would not leave that state, i tried for month before resorting to drastic flashes.
It does not matter anyway what is done is done, just exploring if there is any moving forward. If restoring is what I have to do to have a chance, is there any way to restore without being able to connect to zune. Also I do not have a backup is there one available anywhere?

Zune creates backups of stages before the last update. If you're on Mango, you should have a NoDo backup in Zune. There is no way you can restore without Zune. You can check by going in Zune (when phone connected), Phone (near Marketplace/Social - top left), then "Settings", then "Update". Now Zune should tell you you have a Restore. Good luck!
A few weeks ago I purchased an Orange SPV M5000 (HTC Universal) from a company in the UK (I'm South African). It was running perfectly and I was quite happy with the windows mobile 5.0, but I wanted to be able to run Whatsapp on it, so I tried to upgrade it to windows mobile 6.5, but as I was trying to upgrade it using the suggested roms and programs on this website and it's now completely dead. Before it would show "serial" and "version" on the screen, just the back light was off, I managed to fix it when is that mode following advice from your community by merely running the program "nuetty" and reset the device, both hard and soft. It was running perfectly even though I messed it up, but now I can't even get my Windows 7 starter edition to even recognize the phone when I plug it in as a usb. It says "USB device not recognized" and nothing I do can get recognized or even turn the phone on.
I love the phone and I'm a film maker and playwright and I'm supposed to be in contact with a few producers about having my work shot and filmed, but alas since I broke the phone (it seems) I can't get in contact with them, and that's bad news.
Please anyone please I am so desperate, what do I do? It's not a hardware error I'm certain, but here's what happened: I downloaded a few roms I expected would work, but none did. When I would run them my Mobile Device Centre just exits and though my phone is connected. via usb it just can't be picked up by the Device Center. It seems as though I wiped everything from the phone, not just the data, but the OS and everything, I imagine because the screen is completely blank (not even serial written on it) and resetting does nothing. This at least is my theory. I hope I'm wrong.
I am so desperate, please guys help me! There's no place I can take my phone to to repair it where I live, so I need your professional, and kind help. Please save me guys!

Hi I'm relatively new to flashing etc etc and have just managed to resurrect one of my HP6915 which locked after an attempted WM6 upgrade.
I used "Uni_Exitbootloader" perhaps this will bring yours back to life, also try another OS perhaps XP as w7/Vista are a little fussy about port release/control i believe.
Also which rom/s have you attempted to flash ? i have an SPV 5000 lying about some where if i can find it ill attempt one of your upgrades.
Good Luck
