now i have a question, memory have to do with programs running on the memory for faster access right. So in that sense why doesn't hero run smooth on magics i mean if they have the same memory but just lower MB if you ran smaller fraction of apps should it still run smooth on the magics? for instance the mytouch have 198mb of memory if im correct compared to 288mb, yes in cell phone world thats a big difference but is it that much of a difference when it comes to stable and smoothness even the hero itself cannot handle the hero vanilla rom. So my biggest question is with these proposed new updates coming do your think it can still be ported and run as native as the vanilla android runs?
look at this vid here:

Seems manufacturers are getting the idea behind Android. MotoBlur will become the new Hero sensation. Android is still really new so of course the new ROMs will be sought after.
I gave a Hero ROM a go and it was slow and laggy. Now with BFS maybe it's better, I don't know but I gave it a shot. MotoBlur seems intriguing so of course I want to see what it's like.
this actually looks pretty nice. but its going to be as slow as the hero builds. so itll once again be point less. i would still like to play with the build thou and see what its like. you never know. moto might have messed with some framework enhancements.
hmm... i think i would do the opposite and try to put sense ui on the cliq

I'm looking forward to giving motoblur a try since hero runs like a dog on the magic 32b ... I'll be keeping an eye on the android rom forum for this!

Pointless if you got the 32B, but some of the Hero roms actually became pretty snappy when running them on 32A so dont see it as being pointless at all!
Motoblur
Is anyone getting any closer to making a port of the blur rom?
might help
I have a mytouch 1.2 I'm running a MotoBlur rom with a cr-slide OC, it runs smoothly, still lacking wifi and bt but good none the less...
What is best hero rom (bt an lwd works, no lag) for 32b??
If by "lag" you mean slower than the stock UI, then none, 192mb ram just cant handle it properly. Dont even bother, there will always be lag compared to the stock google ui...only the 288mb ram version works acceptably well. i know it sucks, i cant wait to NOT renew my tmobile contract and tell them its all because they cheaped out on everyone with the mytouch's ram...
Maxisma 1.7.1 is by far the most solid ROM out there. Hardly any load screens and no lag. It's not quite as speedy as a stock ROM but there's little to stop it being practical as a day to day install. Occasionally a load screen will appear but this happens even on genuine Hero devices. Bluetooth, leds and everything work and you don't need to do any partition on your sd card. Just install and go!
Ok all, I have a 32b magic, rooted and with Cyanogen running and I love it. it's all set up how I like it, wouldn't change a thing.
But...!
I have an upgrade coming up and I think I can get the Hero.
I've run a Hero rom before and wasn't all that fussed with the features such as the mail, message and contact widgets so the question is...
Is it worth upgrading?
what would you guys do?
the hero has the advantage of having more ram, thats the only difference in hardware i have found. everything else is the same, except no hardware keyboard.
It still suffers from the poor mem managment the g1 suffers. once you start opening programs, they stay iopen until it needs to free up the ram. this lags the phone and theres not really any inteligence in shutting programs down.
I love the hero rom, though it can be sluggish at times.
however there are sense hybrid roms which are realy good and run pretty quick. though i think they run android 1.5

Thanks mate.
Its just strange because I love my phone, especially how personlised it now is. Just not sure how much better the Hero upgrade would be.
get a mytouch :d
Wait for better hardware before upgrade.

Hmmm... but I might not be able to then, when is there better stuff coming then?
It's just an upgrade from 192mb ram to 288mb, that's the only advantage. The Hero's a first gen device, I'd wait for other phones to be released without the sh*tty qualcomm chipset.
Everyone has their opinions on what Hero rom is the best and fastest. I've tried them all. The question I have does anyone think we will never have a hero rom that will be as fast as actual Hero/Eris? All the ones Ive tried the home screen runs okay as long as you constantly kill the background programs. But pulling up apps and moving through the system is slow on any Hero rom (that Ive tried). I have all the correct linx-swap 128, ext2 500 and class 6. Question still stands will there ever be a rom that moves as fast as the actual phone?
I doubt it. It just basically comes down to the hardware and how we lack 96mb of ram over the actual hero or 32A devices. It makes it really hard to even get a rom that will compare to the original.
I've tried a number of sense 3 roms, and while I'm liking what I see and for the most part the roms are useable, it seems that there are a number of areas where there are significant lags where the phone seems to freeze. this usually happens when switching apps, screens etc. and it happens on every sense 3 rom I've tried to date.
through some investigation, it seems sense 3 is native to dual core processors, (correct me if I'm wrong) which would indicate to me that the HD2's hardware specs are too low to run sense 3 properly (sort of like running win7 on a P3) it can be done, but is it worth it?
I know that the chefs have got it further than say POC, but will it get much better than it already is? (actual useability in terms of sense 2.1 useability that is)
sorry if i don't make much sense ( no pun intended) but i am not quite sure if i got the idea across
oh my hd2 is EU version (T9193)
i dont see those lags, im using dungs DHD sense 3 rom and its fast, there might be a few lags but i put that down to my class2 sd card
tried a sense 3.5 rom ? the bliss rom is from a lower spec handset than the hd2
I'm also on Dungs DHD 3 sense rom, I also found it laggy, but then I tried Supercharger script, and it's way better.
I use setting 7 and 17 in the latest beta. It reallymakes a difference.
#EDIT
I changed my supercharger settings to the 512Mb multitask option (I can't remember the number) and that seems to be smoother.
But that said, I'm still looking for another ROM, theres just to much lag.
Or maybe I should just buy a DHD
I've been using Dungphp's Desire HD sense 3.0 port also, and I haven't had any glitches or laggyness, it runs really well. I'm using an American HD2 so running it all from NAND might have some difference from having to have an ext4 also, I dunno though.
