I´ve opened a thread about bad wifi signal, and gps signal, i did everything, and finnaly i´ve opened my hd, and i realize wich the problem is, the gps antenna (it´s a black wire connected to the main board), i´ve switch the wifi, and bluetooth antenna for the gps antenna, and now i have at least wifi signal, but the other antenna, i think the wire it´s damage because i can get satellite signal, if i switch back the antennas then i don´t have wifi signal....
Any help? or recommendation? it is possible to buy a new antena with the correct connectors? i am actually thinking in selling my hd, and buy a new one because of this...it´s driving me insane
help please!
This is the cable

you should send back to the HTC service center instead of repair by yourself.
Sorry we are all expert in software not hardware.
Once you've opened the HD warranty is automatically void. This should only be done as a last resort and by a competant person.
Unfortunately I am not sure how to fix your issue. If you are looking for a new antena with the correct connectors I would recommend one of 4:
1. Search accessories forum ( this is only a longshot and probably very unlikely).
2. Search internet, try ebay and other sites.
3. Contact HTC regarding spare parts though this would probably cost you a bit.
4. Send to HTC for repair which would again cost you a good bit as warranty void.
I have also moved this thread out of rom development as its not related
my warranty was already void anyway,
thanks anyway,
i´ve already check on ebay, and other sites...no success.
just to let you know..., i´ve been making some tests, and finally switching back the cables, and touch them a little bit did the trick, so, now i have excelent wifi signal, and excelent gps reception. Was realy strange what happened
thank you

Glad to hear you got it sorted.
You could always provide a tutorial so that on the extreme cases people need to open devices they know what to do.....just an idea....but highlight this is only last chance saloon!!
Well, i dunno if its ok to post another urls, and i don´t remember how i found this, but here there´s a lot of disassembly manuals, also the htc touch hd manual.
To open the hd, the first time it´s really difficult, but once i have opened it, it turned easy for me, and i am very glad to end with the gps bad reception, and bad wifi signal. First i thought it was a software problem (radios) but i´ve found it was hardware, really strange....because was never opened before....
Here, were i live it´s really hard to fix this kind of devices, nobody knows how to fix them...
I hope the disassembly guides help other people,
i am a big fan of this forum,

Anyone can help me, my TyTN fall from my home stairs and I can't get signal after that.. I checked at the "Device Information" in the setting and it shows no Radio ROM.. so I try to install the radio ROM but im getting error during the installation.. I believe it is the hardware faulty and appreciate if anyone knows what is it and where can i get the replacement of the hardware..
FYI.. my TyTN can still be operated, its just cannot get the signal..
Thanking everyone's help in advance....
i'm not sure if you resolved the issue or not, but i'm selling an AT&T 8525. I'll sell it to you for $300 shipped as long as you live in the usa.
I'm not familiar with the insides of the phone, but there are a few options. 1, open it up and find out what's wrong. There could be a connector or circuit that broke and would only require minimal effort to fix. 2, find out if HTC can repair it for you through non-warrenty repair. 3, buy another phone online(like through ebay) that's only good for parts and use it for repairs.
Of course, if you don't feel up to opening it up, you could always find a friend or repair shop that might be willing to try.
ok one of these days i am going to write a book on how to re-attach antennas as the one in the TyTN is similar to the herm100 i presume
you cant miss it, its a big gold rod that slots into a V clip on the main board, a serious jolt could pop its loose, but it wont take much to pop back in, just be careful when you put the cover back on
Yep, there it is top left

And here it is disconnected.
However, I'm not convinced there is sufficient space available for that pin to disconnect while the casing is in place. My fear is a more destructive M/Board fault.
Mike
he could have shatterd the V clip off the board
It's more likely the golden connector from the picture got disconnected than that a board or chip broken. It would require the CASING to break in order for the board to break.
Open it up, take a chance. It's not so hard, just scary the first time.

We could take bets on what it is! No that wouldn't be fair would it
I agree it's worth opening up to check the connection. Depending on how hard the fall was it could be a variety of things. Don't agree that the motherboard can only crack if the casing breaks though - I've seen many examples of cracked m'boards and hardly a scratch on the case.
The OP seems to have disappeared anyway!
Mike
Thanks for the replies.. i've just been busy lately..
Will try your suggestion later to check the golden connector 'coz i've been opened it up many times already so its not a scary things to do for me...
will report back the results
hey again mates..
I already check on the golden connector and it seems fine.. everything is in contact and no physical crack was found or whatsoever...
I believe my TyTN is having the same problem with the one in this thread because I have similar symptoms like
1/ i can't flash radio back (the process hang in a middle of the flashing progress).
2/ there's no Radio & Protocol version in the "Settings->System->Device Information"
3/ no IMEI in the "Settings->System->Device Information"
Anyway, Is there a way to write the IMEI no. for the TyTN? maybe if there is an IMEI no. in the TyTN then can I flash the radio ROM.. i think.. and its worth trying (if possible) . or maybe its a hardware problem like in the thread above...
same wif my herm100 hard fall and no more signal
think tat is crack in gsm chips,u just look forward on gsm chips to replace ur old 1,then should be fine and work well ^^
I really hope, this is not one of your usual questions to you and if it is, i really don't care, cuz i am really in big trouble and i need you'll to get me out of this mess i myself created...
When i changed my housing and a new LCD for my Kaiser, i did all acording to the manual i got here... i really did'nt want to bother anyone and did all by my self...
So, i started to change the housing... and... behind the battery cover, over the battery it self, there is the antenna... WHAT I DID NOT KNOW, that the sticker it self, that covered the plastic was the antenna, God damn, so i removed it, with no idea of what i just done... and... the antenna sticker landed in the garbage...!
How you all figured it out by now, i don't have any coverage... but i LOVE this phone... AND... belive it or not, but ebay.co.uk and other ebay sites do not supply these parts... can anyone help me out? I don't know what to do...
I hoped that maybe some of you got a broken one and you dont need that part... i cud buy it from ya...
Please reply as soon as possible... i'm really in a deep mess...
as far as i remember the sticker isnt the antenna?
http://cgi.ebay.com/OEM-internal-an...ries?hash=item3a51ad3e52&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
Here's the antenna
http://cnn.cn/shop/tytn-iitilt-antenna-cover-p-2483.html
I don't get it...
So it cud be that the sticker has nothing to do with the antenna ... So where cud be the problem...?! Any ideas?
What i can gather from the service manual, you must get those 4 golden contacts 2g4... and i am 100% shure i did that... is there something more i can do?! Maybe i missed out on something...
O, please give me a clue - oh, holy guru's of Kaiser...
However...
I've ordered one of those OEM antenna covers... ... hopefully i get it to, but in any case ... i pay'd with paypal... so ... lets hope that it really was somenting IN the sticker, that i broke...
Yeah...
But still... want to get some ideas, what else cud there be wrong...! Thanks again!
That does not make sence, your battery does not normally have a sticker on or over it. I wonder if the sticker was one of those antenna extenders that is supposed to help cell phone reception. Here is a pic, and this is not normally part of the phone:

If you do not have reception, chances are you left something unplugged (I think the top circuit board over the screen. The one with the ear speaker in it), or it came unplugged when you reassembeled everything. I recommend slowley taking everything apart, then following step by step in reverse, put everything back together and make sure all connectors snap in. See of that works and good luck.
Problem solved!!! ))))))))
First of all, i guess you'll got me a little mistaken... I ment wen you hold the phone vertecaly, than not on the battery it self, no, over it... there is the GSM antenna which is JUST A STICKER... and yes... the antenna IS the sticker!
So, bottom line, i bought my self a new antenna (very BIG thanks to jasonchan ) and thank to my dumbness, now we all know thet the sticker that is on the antenna plastic is the GSM antenna and i really suggest to all of you, DONT REMOVE IT ...
BIG thanks for the support, you guys. Don't know what i would done without you!
Hey Mark Wild,
I too need to replace the housing on my phone. I want it to look brand new. Which one and where did you get your replacement housing? THanks.
Hi friends,
because my Polaris died I'm going to buy a HTC Pure. And for this I have a couple questions for you:
first:
HTC Pure locked AT&T with SIM and CID lock, unlocking using Olipro unlock,
Will I can use it with all the operators worldwide and flash a custum ROMs?
and second:
Can I change the body from

Do it fit into the motherboard?
SIM and CID should set you up.
Regarding your housing, not sure about the fit, but you should consider the number of screen failures with the Topaz is high compared to the Pure which I have not seen.
Yes, if you are going to use Olipro, it will work, I did the same thing on my Pure and it works great now.
As for the second qn, don't do that, it will not fit.

What do you mean with "screen failures", this problem relates to the release of a series of defective devices?
Please tell me what I should first pay attention.
Diamond2 has wery sensitive touch screen and it mailfunctions if the device is carried in pockets/bags with screen unprotected
search the forum for "touch sreen woun't untouch" or somethnig like that....my first screen failed to untouch 3 months after purchase, secondone is 6 months after still working with no problem, but allready has a slightly visible dent in lover third of the screen....build quality sucks*, big time (and still woun't sell mine )
*first screen was replaced under warranty, and as I write my device is again at warranty service - volume buttons started pressing randomly....strange( currently I'm not selling mine, but I'am one stupid failure away from selling....phone is scratchless! )

If you search the forums for "Newton Rings" you will see many posts regarding Topaz screen failures. Some users had theirs fail 2 or 3 times after repairs.
I'm not sure if it was a specific bad batch released somewhere but I have not seen this issue on any Pure.
I can tell you that the Pure will fit in the Diamond 2 housing(and vise versa) but the problem is the antenna. If you could find an antenna for the TD2 housing, it would work, otherwise you would just have a PDA
oops..... repeated posts
TNX friends, the "oil" Newton ring, its something strange, and I disappointed in HTC Support. I will looked around the screen carefully and check for defects when my Topaz arrived, and in future will use screen protector. I read that overheating caused the newton ring.
If I find Diamond2 antena ill try to replace housing of Pure and will se what we got.
Again thanks for replying, how many did not seek, has not found information about the change of the houing, and known problems with Topaz, and here just only clear answers from You.
For the last couple of months my hd2 has had really bad/low WiFi reception. So today (after countless hours of trying to solve this) I opened up my HD2 following a video on Youtube As it turns out the coaxial cable that runs along the side of the phone was slightly unplugged. It was just resting on top of the connector. So I plugged it in, heard it click and re-assembled my phone. Now Wifi is back to normal and all is good in the world. Just thought I'd share that in case someone was having the same issue.
Could you please post a link to this video?!
This would help me immensely if this is indeed my problem re: WIFI!!!
congrats man.

Dude...no need to be snarky.
I used the search strings I could think of: HD2 fix WIFI coaxial etc.
A link would be helpful.
Your comment was not.
I am unable to post links because I'm new here. Search "hd2 disassembly" on YouTube. Select the very first video and at 2min 40sec in that video A cable is disconnected. That end of the cable was the one I reconnected to restore my WiFi.
Sorry it took so long to reply.

just giving him props. i apologize for the confusion.
Couldn't find the video... but saw a couple other ones out of curiosity. I'm assuming you've voided your warranty because all the videos i saw punctured the void sticker to reach the screw.

Yes, I had the same problem. Opened up the unit and seated all the cables properly. Also raised the copper spring connectors a bit so that when the phone back is snapped in place, the antenna and motherboard are properly connected.
HTC HD2 diassembly/assembly video is available at the following site:

but be warned, your warranty will be void if you open your phone!
Excellent solution, I opened an HD2 that I have with this problem and I found the cable. Thanks again

So I did a stupid thing and recently stuck a paperclip in the R1 port that is located under the back cover to the right of the SIM card. Well, while my reception was in fact BETTER than it was without the paperclip jammed into the slot, now i receive literally 0 signal when the paperclip is taken out. The only time I can get signal is if I put any metallic object into that port. Has anyone else experienced this and found a fix? I assume I messed up the internal connection between the radio and the motherboard. Would soldering the connection back together solve this? I'm really in need of some advice as Samsung wants $160 to replace my phone and Sprint probably can't fix it at their shop. I'm stuck with this phone for another 7 months. Also, another problem I've been having lately which is even more annoying is now my phone will no longer place calls if I am connected to LTE. Normally the phone will shut off data when you goto make a call, but now it will no longer do so and the call will fail with "OUT OF SERVICE AREA". Also, I can receive texts, but when I try to reply to texts, it also fails unless I get on Wifi or I bump my phone down to 2g/3g (which also sucks). Please help This is literally the best I can explain my issues. I've tried different ROMs and I've even tried re-flashing stock back onto the phone and literally nothing works. I'm currently using the Google Play Edition Port and I've had better results with this than stock thus far, but if anyone has any ideas, please share them with me. Thanks!

Seems to be common among Samsung phones.
You most likely broke the port so it always thinks it is using the external antennas. If you do a few Google searches you will discover it has happened to a few people on different Samsung model phones.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2/general/external-antenna-socket-warning-t1273292
From what I understand, you will need to either always have the paper clip in the phone to use it or ship it off to a repair center and have them replace the r1 port with a new one.
There doesn't seem to be a easy fix unfortunately...

well it seems the R1 port has actually fallen off...... this could be a good thing considering i may just be able to use some copper solder now.
