Anyone can help me, my TyTN fall from my home stairs and I can't get signal after that.. I checked at the "Device Information" in the setting and it shows no Radio ROM.. so I try to install the radio ROM but im getting error during the installation.. I believe it is the hardware faulty and appreciate if anyone knows what is it and where can i get the replacement of the hardware..
FYI.. my TyTN can still be operated, its just cannot get the signal..

i'm not sure if you resolved the issue or not, but i'm selling an AT&T 8525. I'll sell it to you for $300 shipped as long as you live in the usa.
I'm not familiar with the insides of the phone, but there are a few options. 1, open it up and find out what's wrong. There could be a connector or circuit that broke and would only require minimal effort to fix. 2, find out if HTC can repair it for you through non-warrenty repair. 3, buy another phone online(like through ebay) that's only good for parts and use it for repairs.
Of course, if you don't feel up to opening it up, you could always find a friend or repair shop that might be willing to try.
ok one of these days i am going to write a book on how to re-attach antennas as the one in the TyTN is similar to the herm100 i presume
you cant miss it, its a big gold rod that slots into a V clip on the main board, a serious jolt could pop its loose, but it wont take much to pop back in, just be careful when you put the cover back on

And here it is disconnected.
However, I'm not convinced there is sufficient space available for that pin to disconnect while the casing is in place. My fear is a more destructive M/Board fault.

It's more likely the golden connector from the picture got disconnected than that a board or chip broken. It would require the CASING to break in order for the board to break.
Open it up, take a chance. It's not so hard, just scary the first time.

I agree it's worth opening up to check the connection. Depending on how hard the fall was it could be a variety of things. Don't agree that the motherboard can only crack if the casing breaks though - I've seen many examples of cracked m'boards and hardly a scratch on the case.
The OP seems to have disappeared anyway!

I already check on the golden connector and it seems fine.. everything is in contact and no physical crack was found or whatsoever...
I believe my TyTN is having the same problem with the one in this thread because I have similar symptoms like
1/ i can't flash radio back (the process hang in a middle of the flashing progress).
2/ there's no Radio & Protocol version in the "Settings->System->Device Information"
3/ no IMEI in the "Settings->System->Device Information"
Anyway, Is there a way to write the IMEI no. for the TyTN? maybe if there is an IMEI no. in the TyTN then can I flash the radio ROM.. i think.. and its worth trying (if possible) . or maybe its a hardware problem like in the thread above...

think tat is crack in gsm chips,u just look forward on gsm chips to replace ur old 1,then should be fine and work well ^^

Hi everyone,
My Hermes does not vibrate anymore, there are two possible reasons as I see it:
1. I dropped my phone on monday, the battery cover came off and the battery fell out, the phone seemed to be fine after I put them back (most likely)
2. I upgraded from radio 1.18 to 1.27 (unlikely)
Those are the only two recent events which have happened to my phone, and as I doubt the radio has anything to do with the vibrator motor I assumed that when I dropped it, the motor broke off its contacts or something.
Things I have tried:
1. Upgrade to AKU 3.3 (previously running SA 1.35)
2. Downgrade radio to 1.18 again (no luck, back on 1.27 now)
3. Hard reset
4. Soft reset
5. BL 1.01, 1.04
6. Various combinations of all of the above
I have come to the conclusion it must be a hardware issue. I've looked at pictures of the inside of the Hermes but nothing is obviously the motor - could anyone point it out to me on an image? I'd like to have a look at it and if it has broken off its contacts, solder it back on, or buy a new one and install it if it is broken.
Also, are there any programs that can test the vibration definitively? It doesn't vibrate when I am rung or texted, even though the setting is to vibrate, and it doesn't vibrate when I toggle vibrate mode from the Comm manager.

i know that's not really of much help, in terms of fixing the issue. but i think it proves that it is some kind of hardware fault that many of us are experiencing. i've had this problem for a while now, and yeh, its very annoying, but I dont trust t-mobile enough to give it back to them to get it fixed because other than that everything else works fine, and in my experience if i get it repaired its bound to come back with even more problems

I am an electronic engineer so I'm not afraid to get inside either, if it is an obvious and easy-to-fix fault (wire needs resoldering or something) I will let everyone know.
Don't suppose anyone can point to a picture showing the motor could they?

The motor is on the back cover and contacts the mother board via spring contacts. It is possible that a sharp knock could flatten these contacts and stop connection to the board. This would be an easy fix - bend contacts back to original position and all you need is to take back cover off!!

I have fixed it - I opened up the case (just took off the back cover - this voids your warrantee) and it is located at the bottom. It has two spring loaded pins which contact the main board, and one appeared to be bent slightly out of shape. After bending it back I reassembled and everything works again!

A hard knock can bend the Vibrate Motor's copper spring contacts enough to make them lose contact with the board. In other cases contact may be poor due to some oxidisation on the contacts.
For those who are not worried about their warranty, giving those contacts a tweak back into shape would not be a daunting task. 4 screws on the back cover, remove sim card AND Micro Card and with a bit of patience ease off back cover. That's all the dismantling needed .
Do remember to line up the little macro toggle arm on the camera with its catch on the cover when putting back together. First time I did this I forgot, got everything all screwed back and then discovered the camera macro arm was not lined up with the switch on the casing. So i would check the macro switch is working before finally putting screws back in.

Some people are able to get the motor to re-establish contact with the m/board by giving the device a few sharp taps on the bottom edge. This can work provided the spring contacts are not excessively bent. Worth a try especially for those with a warranty for whom opening up would be warranty voiding.

Ahh...so that's why my Dopod838Pro is not vibrating at times...I knew it had something to do with the amount of times I dropped the phone...(lol) well, I will try this solution and get back to you guys.

I dont beleive this BS i dropped my lovable phone on the floor and now my keyboard is being tempermental!!!! it sometimes works find but other times it dosn't GRRRR!!!! The keys that are effected are the F key the dot key the delete key and a few others help!!!!!!!!

Do what mike says, mines taken many a tumble and i've had to set the keyboard connector and the front camera back in place twice now.
Just as the thread states....I DROPPED MY HERMES!!!!
Assessing the damage, part of my keyboard popped out slightly. It popped back into place, but while using the phone, if I close the sliding keyboard, my phone will freeze. Or in other words loss of power. If the keyboard is not closed all the way, I can use my phone. If I carefully close the keyboard, I sometimes can use the phone. A small bump will result in loss of power.
I believe I have a loose connection somewhere. I am going to take Mike's suggestion to look at the keyboard connection. Does anyone have any other ideas I should check?
Giving an update. I opened up my Hermes to find the battery connector has broken off. I did more searching on the forums about this very issue. Hopefully resoldering the connections will work. Understand that the board has many layers and a may have damaged the connection internally. Will have to see. Luckily, I have a friend who works on all sorts of digital components for installing and repair. Hopefully this is the ONLY problem and not just one of many!

Funnily enough i did make a post suggesting a problem with the battery connector - but you may know the site was hacked and we lost some posts from Sunday.
Anyway, let's hope it has just broken the surface solder joints and all will be well.

I really hope, this is not one of your usual questions to you and if it is, i really don't care, cuz i am really in big trouble and i need you'll to get me out of this mess i myself created...
When i changed my housing and a new LCD for my Kaiser, i did all acording to the manual i got here... i really did'nt want to bother anyone and did all by my self...
So, i started to change the housing... and... behind the battery cover, over the battery it self, there is the antenna... WHAT I DID NOT KNOW, that the sticker it self, that covered the plastic was the antenna, God damn, so i removed it, with no idea of what i just done... and... the antenna sticker landed in the garbage...!
How you all figured it out by now, i don't have any coverage... but i LOVE this phone... AND... belive it or not, but ebay.co.uk and other ebay sites do not supply these parts... can anyone help me out? I don't know what to do...
I hoped that maybe some of you got a broken one and you dont need that part... i cud buy it from ya...

That does not make sence, your battery does not normally have a sticker on or over it. I wonder if the sticker was one of those antenna extenders that is supposed to help cell phone reception. Here is a pic, and this is not normally part of the phone:

If you do not have reception, chances are you left something unplugged (I think the top circuit board over the screen. The one with the ear speaker in it), or it came unplugged when you reassembeled everything. I recommend slowley taking everything apart, then following step by step in reverse, put everything back together and make sure all connectors snap in. See of that works and good luck.

First of all, i guess you'll got me a little mistaken... I ment wen you hold the phone vertecaly, than not on the battery it self, no, over it... there is the GSM antenna which is JUST A STICKER... and yes... the antenna IS the sticker!
So, bottom line, i bought my self a new antenna (very BIG thanks to jasonchan ) and thank to my dumbness, now we all know thet the sticker that is on the antenna plastic is the GSM antenna and i really suggest to all of you, DONT REMOVE IT ...

In the process of trying to fix my loose hinge I must have broken my volume button. There is a tiny grey piece of plastic that gets pushed in. In the photo the volume button on the right is the up volume and works fine but down button doesn't have the grey piece.

If you're lucky, you might find a tact switch to replace the broken one in an electronics store or in a technical assistance for mobile phones, or you can try removing the tact switch and redo with some plastic, its not that hard to do.

I have an old Palm Treo 650 that I'm going to tear apart and look for parts. I'm not at home right now but I found this picture and the buttons on the top left look very similar to the Desire Z ones.
Does anyone know if there are any electrical issues about the switch that I should consider before using a different one?
I was a cell tech for 5 years and replaces tons of volume and ptt switches. You can use a switch from any phone to replace it. Voltage doesn't matter on these and all seem to be the same size. You could probably buy a broken desire z or use one from any old phone. My old word of caution would be that some phones use ribbon (flex) wires that have a built-in switch that wouldn't be compatible for use. I know a ton of iden phones (older ones like i730/530/610) use the proper switches. Maybe a local sprint store might have some old water damged models that would be perfect. It would have to be a service center though. Good luck!
Oh and any non lead based solder will do but be sure you solder it down good. It make take a few tries and before to pull on the switch a little to make sure it was a secure burn...
Oh... lol! The treo switch will work fine as a replacement. Be sure to not burn off the the soldering pad on the board of your G2. And carefull with the removal of the treo's switch. They break easily...

Yeah I got non-lead based solder but I think I'll need to get a finer tip to my iron. I have the Hakko 936. Any tip recommendations?
Also, there looks to be 5 solder points on the Desire Z switch. Two on each side and on behind. The behind one isn't really shown in my picture. Do you know which solder points are the important ones and which ones are for strength?
I hope I can document my progress enough so that others with the same problem can fix their phones too!

Why would you want to use lead free solder? Leaded solder has a lower melting point and flows much easier. I mean honestly, just use what you have on hand, but is there a reason why you would specify that he use lead free?
I've had my 32GB Nexus 7 2012 (grouper) since it was released. I love it, or well, I did. Until about 12 months ago, the WiFi reception and speed plummeted into what may as well be hell in the stone ages. I couldn't find the problem. I thought it was something to do with software, as I had recently upgraded to a newer version of Android at the time. So, I dismissed it, and waited patiently for a fix. Nothing. So, it has been sitting there since KitKat was released, doing nothing.
Until now that is! I decided that I didn't want to look at it doing nothing anymore, so I researched far past page 2 of Google (Desperate times people, desperate times...) and I found this gem!
I strongly recommend you DO NOT perform that guide. It can damage your device even more. Instead, please use the guide below:

Turn off your device
Ensure that your device is unplugged from any power source
1) Open the Nexus 7 carefully.
2) Find the broken contact(s). The red circle in the picture below annotates where one of the WiFi contacts is broken.

3) Put the replacement contact finger(s) in place
4) Solder the new contact(s) onto the motherboard ensuring that the solder is only touching that contact
It's important that the solder is only touching one piece of metal, as otherwise the circuit will be shorted and your device may be damaged.
If you have messed up the soldering, there are tools to remove the solder, or you can re-heat it and try to wipe/scrape it off. The tool you want heats up, and sucks up the solder off the circuit board.
5) Leave the device for at least five minutes
6) Once you have left the device, check to see if the angle of the new contact is the same as the other ones. If not, gently bend it into place.
7) Place the casing back onto the Nexus 7, and press to lock it into place
8) Boot up your device
