For the last couple of months my hd2 has had really bad/low WiFi reception. So today (after countless hours of trying to solve this) I opened up my HD2 following a video on Youtube As it turns out the coaxial cable that runs along the side of the phone was slightly unplugged. It was just resting on top of the connector. So I plugged it in, heard it click and re-assembled my phone. Now Wifi is back to normal and all is good in the world. Just thought I'd share that in case someone was having the same issue.
Could you please post a link to this video?!
This would help me immensely if this is indeed my problem re: WIFI!!!
congrats man.

Dude...no need to be snarky.
I used the search strings I could think of: HD2 fix WIFI coaxial etc.
A link would be helpful.
Your comment was not.
I am unable to post links because I'm new here. Search "hd2 disassembly" on YouTube. Select the very first video and at 2min 40sec in that video A cable is disconnected. That end of the cable was the one I reconnected to restore my WiFi.
Sorry it took so long to reply.

i wasn't talking to you, i was talking to the OP.
just giving him props. i apologize for the confusion.
Couldn't find the video... but saw a couple other ones out of curiosity. I'm assuming you've voided your warranty because all the videos i saw punctured the void sticker to reach the screw.

Yes, I had the same problem. Opened up the unit and seated all the cables properly. Also raised the copper spring connectors a bit so that when the phone back is snapped in place, the antenna and motherboard are properly connected.
HTC HD2 diassembly/assembly video is available at the following site:
http://pocketnow.com/hardware-1/official-htc-hd2-disassembly-assembly-training-videos-leaked
but be warned, your warranty will be void if you open your phone!
Excellent solution, I opened an HD2 that I have with this problem and I found the cable. Thanks again

With any luck it's just the keyboard connector that's a bit loose. It's just under the back cover so no major dismantling:

Mike
Sorry.
How high was the fall?
I've dropped mine many times on all sorts of surfaces and still kickin... If you saw the condition of my 6 month old 8525 you'd shiver
No help to offer. :|
Do what mike says, mines taken many a tumble and i've had to set the keyboard connector and the front camera back in place twice now.
Just as the thread states....I DROPPED MY HERMES!!!!
Assessing the damage, part of my keyboard popped out slightly. It popped back into place, but while using the phone, if I close the sliding keyboard, my phone will freeze. Or in other words loss of power. If the keyboard is not closed all the way, I can use my phone. If I carefully close the keyboard, I sometimes can use the phone. A small bump will result in loss of power.
I believe I have a loose connection somewhere. I am going to take Mike's suggestion to look at the keyboard connection. Does anyone have any other ideas I should check?
Giving an update. I opened up my Hermes to find the battery connector has broken off. I did more searching on the forums about this very issue. Hopefully resoldering the connections will work. Understand that the board has many layers and a may have damaged the connection internally. Will have to see. Luckily, I have a friend who works on all sorts of digital components for installing and repair. Hopefully this is the ONLY problem and not just one of many!

Funnily enough i did make a post suggesting a problem with the battery connector - but you may know the site was hacked and we lost some posts from Sunday.
Anyway, let's hope it has just broken the surface solder joints and all will be well.

I´ve opened a thread about bad wifi signal, and gps signal, i did everything, and finnaly i´ve opened my hd, and i realize wich the problem is, the gps antenna (it´s a black wire connected to the main board), i´ve switch the wifi, and bluetooth antenna for the gps antenna, and now i have at least wifi signal, but the other antenna, i think the wire it´s damage because i can get satellite signal, if i switch back the antennas then i don´t have wifi signal....
Any help? or recommendation? it is possible to buy a new antena with the correct connectors? i am actually thinking in selling my hd, and buy a new one because of this...it´s driving me insane

you should send back to the HTC service center instead of repair by yourself.
Sorry we are all expert in software not hardware.
Once you've opened the HD warranty is automatically void. This should only be done as a last resort and by a competant person.
Unfortunately I am not sure how to fix your issue. If you are looking for a new antena with the correct connectors I would recommend one of 4:
1. Search accessories forum ( this is only a longshot and probably very unlikely).
2. Search internet, try ebay and other sites.
3. Contact HTC regarding spare parts though this would probably cost you a bit.
4. Send to HTC for repair which would again cost you a good bit as warranty void.
I have also moved this thread out of rom development as its not related
my warranty was already void anyway,
thanks anyway,
i´ve already check on ebay, and other sites...no success.
just to let you know..., i´ve been making some tests, and finally switching back the cables, and touch them a little bit did the trick, so, now i have excelent wifi signal, and excelent gps reception. Was realy strange what happened
thank you

Glad to hear you got it sorted.
You could always provide a tutorial so that on the extreme cases people need to open devices they know what to do.....just an idea....but highlight this is only last chance saloon!!
Well, i dunno if its ok to post another urls, and i don´t remember how i found this, but here there´s a lot of disassembly manuals, also the htc touch hd manual.
To open the hd, the first time it´s really difficult, but once i have opened it, it turned easy for me, and i am very glad to end with the gps bad reception, and bad wifi signal. First i thought it was a software problem (radios) but i´ve found it was hardware, really strange....because was never opened before....
Here, were i live it´s really hard to fix this kind of devices, nobody knows how to fix them...
I hope the disassembly guides help other people,
i am a big fan of this forum,
Hi guys,
the last five days i was having problems with my usb port and it really scared me because this is how i lost my last phone. It first started to charge randomly, sometimes charged sometimes not, until it didnt charged at all,but thats not the case with my x8(i hope so ).
If you having promblems with charging too, keep reading this thread and i hope you will get an answer.
Usb looseness can be caused due to several reasons, what im gonna tell doesnt guarantee that it will solve your problem.
1)Change your charger
-If the problem is in the usb cable that will solve your problem for sure!
if any of your friends have the same phone borrow his charger and try to charge your phone.
I dont really suggest to buy a new one just like that, maybe read further and if nothing happen then go for a new charger.
2)Clean the usb port
-Its really common for the usb port to fill with dust and lint and as a result usb cable doesnt fit in the port well.
Check this thread out to see what you have to clean
telmosousa said:
A while ago I noticed that my micro USB cable does not fit well on my U8800 and when I picked up my phone the cable the cable always fall out without doing any force. After reading various sites, to decide what would be the best way and after I did it I'm now leaving here how to solve this problem. In my case it was dust and lint that accumulated because of taking the phone in pocket, etc..
Tutorial
You should use a toothpick, previously buffed with a fine sandpaper like the image below. You can use other objects, but with the toothpick you can do it without turning off the phone because it isn't a electrical conductor and you can also sharpen the tip very easily.

You should clean the area paint in blue below:
After this you should give special attention to areas in microusb port marked in red below which is where bolts fits and attach the cable to the port. You should try to clean as much as possible the dust that has entrenched there.
In my case after 5 minutes of hard work this was the result:
I used the lamp on my bedside table for a better look inside the door. Those black things are dust that came out of there now do not have any slack in the port works at 100% and I can move the phone without any problem.

3)move the thing* inside the usb port
If you didnt understand what im talking about i hope the pic will help you
-Try to barely move it with a pin or with you finger or with something else, if the problem resist try to move it a little bit more,be carefull!!!Don't push it too hard it can break!!!
For me it works when i push it from the front side of the phone to the back, but if that doesnt help try the opposite.
This is how i solved my problem, after noticing that my usb cable was unstable when it was plugged in, i tried to move it and it worked, now it charging normally and if i move it the opposite direction it doesnt charge
*****Warning*****That is for when you have problem with it, if your port is ok dont mess with it!!!!!!!
And dont mess with this too much, you can break it!!!!!!
I'm not responsible for any damage you possible do to your phone
If you have any suggetion for the thread or for my english( ) please feel free to tell me by posting your comment or by pm
*does anyone know the exact naming?i cant find the proper word...

I replaced the battery and the charging port and after putting it together a perfect radius of blue has formed on the right side of the screen. Touchscreen is still working just fine on the whole screen. Any suggestions for how to fix this? There isn't an cracks on the screen. Any suggestions? Is it possible I bent a pin on any of the ribbons? Could someone point out which ribbons go to the screen hardware? Maybe I can get a magnifying glass and figure out which ribbons needs replaced. Thanks for the help.

Go look in one of the many bootloop threads.... but not here- this thread is not related at all with the BLOD.
Ok, finally saw your photo. It does appear to be a cable issue, unfortunately it would likely be the screen cable in which case you would have to replace the entire screen to fix it.

The black cable that is only partially exposed on one end?
Not sure which one you're talking about. The one on the right of the motherboard that goes under the battery is for the LCD I would also check that no filters around the connection have been damaged.

I believe so.
I dropped my Axon 7. Though there's no visible damage, the phone will frequently freeze (not turn off) and just continue to display whatever was on the screen at the time. Or the the charging LED will remain on if it was just charging and not actually booted, even if I unplug the phone.
I opened it up and reconnected all the cables, but no luck.
Once it starts, if left gently on a table it will continue to run, but if I jostle it it will likely freeze.
I've been experimenting and know I get the same behavior if the phone is running on AC with the battery disconnected (I think that worked...) , or if I run unplugged with the battery.
Any ideas? Since I already have the phone open and don't much have to loose, I'm willing to attempt more surgery, but I'm not sure how to diagnose the fault. (Yes, past the 2 year damage warranty).
Happy for your thoughts and suggestions!
There was a post on here with the exact same scenario, if I remember correctly it was a cable to the screen/display.
I've dropped phones and sometimes the pins bend slightly so check the connection pins.
I even repaired one that fell into a bowl of milk
found something?

Assuming this is the issue, does replacing this cable mean removing the screen? I've heard that's hard...
I can't see from the pic properly but it is possible, the only way to know for sure is to compare with an original condition unit. (Looks better than some I've seen)
I was fortunate enough to have the same phone as a backup so I could check in my case.
Just make sure all connectors are snapped into place and no broken fragments in the connection.
I hope you get it sorted
Some pics of a brand new screen taken with my Axon and a small lens i had lying around
