Issues with headphones? - Mogul, XV6800 General

Hi all,
anyone else having issues with headphones. I am talking about the ones that come standard with the titan.
I am running dcd 3.4 and loving it. Although my headphones only work intermittently - sometimes they work and other times they dont. I am sure that it is not hardware as i have tried to different sets.
Is there software issues? I have tried to plug them in and then soft reset phone with no luck.
Would love some ideas.

Now i have been doing some tests on this.
I know now that it is nothing to do with the socket as the charger always works in it without an issue.
I do not think that it is the headphones as I have tried 2 different sets, and both work intermittently.
Is it software? What are the files on the phone that deal with audio?

JAMin speaker problems

Hi,
Was driving home yesterday when I noticed my Tom Tom voice instructions started to break up. I thought it was just a little glitch and thought nothing move about it.
However today I was trying to play a sound and got nothing. I tried it a couple of times and it played and then started to break up too.
Since then I am getting no sound. I can hear sound fine using the headphones and when I get a call I can hear the caller fine, but if I go onto Speaker Phone I hear nothing.
I tried a soft reset then a hard reset but neither worked.
I have just finished upgrading to the latest ROM but it is still not working.
Has anyone else had this? Is there a secret fix I have missed?
Has anyone sent their JAMin for warrantly work in the UK. If so how long is the turnaround?
Regards
Hi. Used to have this problem when I had the Jam and the JAMin seems to use the same design when it comes to speakers (part of the reason why I didn't get a JAMin when upgrading.)
If it's the same problem as on the Jam hopefully the fllowing will help.
When you plug in headphones or speakers to the socket there is a loose connection. This then sometimes makes the phone think headphones are still plugged in even when they are not! The way I solved it was by playing some music on media player then half plugging the headphones in and wiggling the connector around until I heard sound through the speakers. I also found I could use the tip of the stylus to correct the loose connection. Some people said it worked just by plugging and unplugging their headphones several times.
This thread is where the problem was discussed when on the JAM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=42949
Another thread that might help is this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=18384
dead speaker
If after a hard reset your speaker still has no sound, then it's probably dead. Sad to say, HTC is at fault for using such low quality speakers. I am a victim myself. Go to PPCSG. The prob is so common in Singapore that the service center has run out of speaker parts!
Speaker hardware replaced

read somewhere that this speaker problem was inherited from the magician?
can anyone verify that this speaker failing problem was inherent even in the magician?
if this is the case, then we will have doubts about PPCs coming out from HTC..
I heard about the Magician PDA speaker defects as well although I did not have such a problem with my old Magician but I had to get the Phone speaker replaced. It looks like they used the same Magician hardware in the new Prophet.

Help! Big problems with all audio!

Hi
First post here so please excuse any ignorance.
O2 XDA Exec - standard Rom from O2 website.
Problem started a few hours ago after using the audio out for listening to music via mediaplayer.
My unit was working fine while playing, but later after it had been disconnceted from the stereo I noted that there were no tap sounds.
I first checked the audio settings, all normal the way I always have them.
Next I tried the reset button on the back of the unit, no help there.
I tried plugging in the headphones in and there is perfectly normal audio over the headphone but once removed nothing at all.
Getting more extreme I tried a rom update/fresh start, no luck there either.
Getting even more hardcore I downloaded the assembly/disassembly pdf from this forum to check if there was a physical fault with the 3.5mm audio port. I checked to make sure all the tabs were springing back after an audio jack was removed all seem fine (although at this point I lack a comparision).
Then for a test I rang my own phone from my land line and it seems to ring fine but there is nothing from the mic or either of the earpieces during a call.
I am fast running out of ideas and the last test really perplexed me.
I am almost certain that it is a case of one of the contacts inside the audio port not springing back and therefore cutting out the external audio, giving the device the impression that there is still a headset connected.
I don't want to poke around inside too much as I have so far been able to keep security tabs intact, just in case I need to send it off.
Anybody have any ideas on how to get around this? Is it possible that it is software and not hardware?
Please help as phone is a bit useless sans headset, which I don't really want to be permanetly tied to.
Thanks
Thom
keep plugging and unplugging the headset until it works or you get tired, if it works great, otherwise sent it in for repair.
Does nobody out there have a registry hack workaround for this problem?
When I receive calls its rings and any other sounds come through whilst the phone rings.
There must be a workaround here somewhere???
Had exactly the same problem. No sound but rings ok,
After the first time I plugged in the headphones, no sound. Its probably cause the headphone socket is so big in comparisson, that it gets dirty. Just spray some anti static cleaner on the headphone plug and keep plugging it in.
Worked perfectly for me!!
There is no registry hack because this is a hardware issue, not a software one.
The ringer will ring whether the earphones are plugged in or not, which is how you would expect a phone to function. The problem lies with the connectors in the headphone jack socket not recognising the headphones are unplugged. Resetting and even dare I say a hard reset will not sort it as the issue is not software related.
This has also been covered several times on the forum. The only way (short of taking the thing apart) is to keep plugging / unplugging the headphones until the sound reappears.
Cheers
Ant
This just started happening on my JasJar today (system audio returned after poking the headset in/out a few times), after 11 months of use. Does this get worse over time? Should I bite the bullet and try to get Imate to repair it?
Please advise!

Headphone Jack Stops working

Hey all, I know a lot of people have had problems with the jack doing goofy things, however my problem is a little different. I'm having an issue where i'll be listening to music just fine on my headphones, unplug them, a bit later plug them back in and it no longer plays though the headphones. It will play though the external speaker just fine, but when you plug it in, you head music for about 400ms then it goes silent. Upon rebooting the phone the audio will work again. Sounds almost like a software glitch but not sure how to fix it. The HTC support rep suggested a "hard reset" I really don't want to do that, but it may come to it for testing purposes.
Anyone else run into this problem? I would really like to fix it without wiping the phone.
No headphone problems here my friend. Good luck.
Just a heads up. The evo can sense a mic'd headset inserted or a standard 3.5mm headphone or aux cable. When it senses a standard cable it will run off the headphones and let you do commands or talk trough the built in mic. I had a "headphone" issue that many talk of with diffent things poping up or music not playing. All i had to do was push until I heard a locking click with the headset and with the standard headphones I have. Everything has worked great since then

hd2 3,5 jack problem

Hi guys, i have an hd2 with nand android, and i have a problem when i plug in the aux cable or earphones: the phone during the play of a track sometimes changes automatically the song or it restart the song a lot of time without that i touch the phone. I already had the plug in problem too when i had wm 6.5 on the phone, but the problem were not the "music shuffling", but the problem were that the phone autodialed the last number called by me.
Someone has the same issue? Any solutions?
I've had audio jack problems as well.
I use a mp3 player from the Android Market called Tiny Player.
Occasionally while playing songs in Tiny Player through headphones or an FM transmitter, the Android music player will start up and begin playing a random song while Tiny Player is still playing.
It must be something about the way that the audio jack is designed to work with the HTC headphones that have the in-line mic built into them for calling. Some regular headphones must be causing a connection to be made which makes the phone think that a button on the HTC headphones has been pressed.
I can usually solve this problem by unplugging and re-plugging the headphones, or turning the plugh in the jack a little bit.
this has come up fairly often over the yrs, to a greater or lesser extent. I have a pair of senheissers which do exactly what you describe, but only on winmo roms. My other phones (tested four or five pairs, cheap and expensive) all work fine. the senheissers work fine on wp7 and android.
Odly enough two (that i can think of) other threads like this also mentioned senheisers, , , what you using, OP?
@samsamuel: i'm using android MIUI.
@huggs: sometimes i do like you, i unplug and replug the cable to solve the problem, but i want to permanently solve this problem, even at the cost of replacing the input jack, you say that it solves?
Its also worth removing the battery and then looking into the jack to see it there is any debris in there, remove with a pin
Same problem, except my Android powered HD2 also likes to randomly dial the last person I talked to when I have the headphones connected. These are the original HTC phones that came with the device. Today it managed to leave my boss eight voicemails. Nice. Fortunately, my boss has a sense of humor and it'll probably be OK. What can I do to prevent this from happening again?
I have a problem with 3.5 mm jack. When I turn on the headset, the phone restarts. And the problem is not with all handsets
I think I found a fix for misbehaving headphones:

If anyone has used this please comment.
@imrazor : Thank you very much, I'm using it for two days and since I installed it I've had no problems.

Music playback pauses for no reason

I'm having an issue with pretty much every N rom I've tried - when I play music using wired headphones or with an AUX cable hooked up to my car, the music will stop randomly, usually every few minutes. Sometimes I'll get lucky and it won't do it for a while, but regardless, it still happens. I've tried a handful of different apps, AUX cables and headphones, and it always happens. Playing music using Bluetooth or the phone speaker causes no problems. Also, I disabled battery optimization for every app I've tried and still get pauses, and I've cleaned the headphone jack with rolled up tape to make sure there's no dirt or lint in there. I'm out of ideas and couldn't really find anything here on XDA or searching on Google. Please help, and thanks!
have you tried with another headphone? your headphone's cable might be little bit broke, so ur phone detect that the jack is unplugged, and it stopped automatically. (bad english srry, im trying to help)
Thanks for the reply, but I already said I tried different headphones and AUX cables
I can't be the only one experiencing this issue
I am facing the same issue as you do.
Yep, same here. Happened on pretty much every Nougat Rom out there.
I just looked through the settings on my phone and poweramp (Beta, don't know about the stable version) has a setting for this exact problem and it seems to work
