hi, am sorry if this has been posted but i cant seem to find the solution of my problem.
am using cingular 8125 and upgraded it to WM6.1 and activesync 4.5.
now the problem is, i can not find a disconnect button or how do i disconnect my phone from my PC.
Sry,cudn't get what you are trying to ask ? wud you elaborate a little more.
well,if you simply want to disconnect your phone, then just 'unplug' your phone from the usb cable or if you want to delete partnership with the phone, you can do it in the 'File' option of the AS.
Cheers!
can i just unplugged it directly without disconnecting it? i mean just like the usb flash drive before you can unplugged it you have to do a safely remove hardware operation first. and also like the xda II mini there's an option or a button when you want to disconnect it or stop the sync from the pc.
i hope, i explained it correctly.

Yes there is no real danger when "hot unplugging" your phone. It's more stable than most flash drives or external HDDs. As an option, you could always shut down your computer first.
thank you very much
Sorry for the ultra bump, I didn't want to start a new thread, but this doesn't help me. Whenever I hot unplug my phone, all the USBs stop responding and I can't plug anything back in, without rebooting first. I'm using a Diamond, but this shouldn't be a problem, since it's AS that messes up.
i was running the 2.31 version of the rom updater utility by coke man to install a 6.1 rom. It didnt get past the 0% on the installation screen when it told me i had an update error and a soft reset would fix it. it didnt fix it and did the same thing next time. now my phone wont connect with the pc or with activesync so im pretty frustrated right now. it charges it via usb but my pc cannot find the phone device itself. also when i plug the phone into the usb cord, i hear a messed up connection sound. you know when you plug in a usb cord to a pc you hear that "do do" with the second "do" at a slightly higher pitch? when i plug mine in now it sounds like it plays the first "do" twice and then nothing happens if that at all makes sense...

1) Can you get back to the boot loader screen. Push power/Camera and reset at the same time.
2) If you can get the bootloader screen what does it say? If it says 2.31 then leave it as is and load whatever rom you want.
3) If it doesn'r say 2.31 then re run icecokemans unlocker again
i cant even establish a connection to do that with the pc. Each time i tried the program before it stopped working, it would stay on 0 with an error code that said a soft reset would fix the problem. But it wouldnt and would get stuck at the same place next time
The sound you're hearing is a driver installation error, maybe start by reinstalling active-sync?
or at least open device manager and see if "Generic RNDIS" is there, that would mean you dont have neccecary drivers and need to download ActiveSync for XP or Windows Mobile Device Center for Vista.
hope that help
reinstallin it fixed it. i really do appreciate the help though. i got the answer i needed within the day i asked where as i still have no helpful responses at any of the other places i asked. thanks
Hi Guys, hopefully someone can help me here it is driving me crazy - well, here is my issue.
Doesnt matter what PC I plug my HD into it doesnt get picked up, i looked in device manager and still nothing. Its like its not connected, but it shows on the phone that it is charging. And does charge.
Can someone please help?
Thanks!
Settings - Connection - USB to PC - uncheck 'enable advanced network functionality'
All that was there is ' Enable faster data synchronization '
No advanced network functionality. Im on Telstra NextG Network Australia with there crappy stock rom if that helps.
I'm looking at a stock Touch HD and you're right- they changed the name of the box. So uncheck 'enable faster data synchronization'.
I did but it is still not working.
I have also done a hard reset and restore to manufacturers default and still not working.
What kind of PC are you using? Is it XP? If so you need to download ActiveSync.
Using XP.. I have downloaded and installed Activesync. It used to be picked up on every pc and suddenly now it doesnt.
Opened Activesync ports in your firewall settings?
Yeah its all fine, its as though the PC doesnt even recognise it. Doesnt show up in Disk Management.
hi lucky
you're already the 3rd one with this problem.
if you plug-in the usb connector, is there a dialog popping up on your hd which let's you choose between synch or hd mode?
if not, welcome to the group of disapointed htc owners.
there is already a thread somewhere about this problem. i have exactly the same, but no one could help me until now.
at least i found a way to flash a rom. the usb connection was working for about 20 minutes. afterwards it broke down again...
try the following:
1. shut down hd
2. remove SD and Sim Card
3. plug in the usb cable
4. do a hard reset by holding vol up and vol down while you press the power button
5. confirm the hardware reset
6. when the hd is booting up again, it will do some kind of customization process. during this process active sync should come up on your pc. cancel the device setup in acive sync and wait until your hd is completely configured.
7. afterwards reconnect the usb cable and active sync should work for a while...
let me know if it helped. i'm still searching for a permanent solution for this problem...
Nope, didnt work at all.
Not even the choice to decide what I want to do pops up on the phone.
Do you think it could be a hardware fault?
I think it is a hardware fault because i did a SPL boot and instead of 'USB' showing in the white box "Serial" did.
It just seems wierd because it was working fine for 2 weeks and then it all the sudden stopped and I did no ROM flashing or anything.
Should I try reflashing my device through the SD card and see how I go from there?
did you try a different cable???
I have about 20 different USB -> mini USB and only about 2/3 of them work with phones !!!
Yeah ive tried all different cables, ive tried ones that work with my diamond but still dosent work with my hd.

Are you getting anything popping up in device manager when you plug it in, in other words does the list refresh like it has detected a new hardware device or is it completely silent? I have seen it a couple of times where a device gets stuck as being recognized as something else. If the list does scroll (responds to the HD being plugged in) do a screen shot of everything in DM then plug the HD in and compare the lists to see if it is showing up as something else. If so, delete the device then unplug and plug in the HD again and have it reinstall the driver.
Good luck,
Gordo
I did what you said Gordo, and it doesnt show up inDevice Manager. Its as though its not even plugged in but for some reason it still recharges off the USB.
I guess about the only other thing I can think of is to plug it in on another PC and see if that computer tries to load a driver. If it does then it is something strange with your computer. If it doesn't then there is something bad with the USB port on the HD (maybe).
Gordo
Yeah I tried that but still nothing, im sending it back to Telstra, since its within 14 days of me getting it I get a whole brand new one!
thanks for your help guys
Hi, I have a pretty new windows laptop, and last week it was working fine, you plug in the phone and it gives you an option on the connection method.
This week however, it stopped working I plug in the phone, it shows that it vibrates, shows the little popup cable down the bottom and charges, but even though "ask upon connecting" is ticked - there are no longer any connection options popping up, and no response from the computer.
I have tried reinstalling the LG drivers on the laptop, and soft reset the phone, reboot the laptop. No love.
I looked in device manager but I can't see it there, and don't know what I am looking for.
Any help would be appreciated short of reinstalling windows. Tempted to install a ROM but waiting for a good one with the new G3 Flat UI to come out soon.
Perhaps try uninstalling the driver for G2 in device manager. My surface recognizes mine in 8.1, so your issue is fixable.
Sent from my LG-D802
Look for an unidentified device in Device Manager perhaps. It'll have a yellow triangle sign on it. Then right click, properties, driver, update driver, browse locally, and select the G2 driver.
Ok, I'm not sure what's going on, but my Nexus 6P will not do anything but charge when it's plugged up to my PC. I am using the systemless root and Franco kernel r7. Other than that, it's stock. What happens when I plug my phone into my PC is the battery icon changes to charging, and that's it. The PC does not recognize the phone is plugged in, and there are no unknown USB devices in device manager. I also do not get a USB notification on my phone.
More details:
- I have done the complete drive install VIA the nexus root toolkit (both initial setup before this problem, then again when the problem surfaced)
- USB debugging is enabled
- I swapped cables about 3 times, no change
- Tried different USB ports on PC and laptop and even ports directly connected to the motherboard. no change.
- Tried on my laptop (Windows 10) and it does the same thing as the PC (Windows 10).
- USB settings are set to MTP, although if I change it, it seems to get stuck on charging. I have to tap MTP about 3-5 times in order for it to say it's in MTP mode again.
- Running the command adb devices in command prompt does not show anything connected.
Other than this weird issue, I have not had any problems with my phone. I also have another USB-C cable on the way, but it seems unlikely that would be the issue.
*EDIT* For anyone who might have stumbled on this thread: I did not find any solution, and ended up contacting Google. They seem to agree this might be hardware related and have issued an advanced replacement.
Found this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/help/usb-storage-windows-t3244905/page2#post63750876 but nothing has worked in it so far. I think I'm going to wait for the new USB cable then work on the laptop more since it's much less likely to have a bunch of other android drivers installed. PC has nvidia shield, tablet, and other phones at some point, I tried to remove everything identifiable in USBDeview
USB cable did not help. I also flashed pure nexus to see if it were some sort of ROM issue, no luck on that either.
Ideas? Anyone?
catlog post on USB port manager
I/UsbPortManager(950): USB port changed: port=UsbPort{id=otg_default, supportedModes=dual}, status=UsbPortStatus{connected=true, currentMode=ufp, currentPowerRole=sink, currentDataRole=device, supportedRoleCombinations=[source:host, sink:device]}, canChangeMode=true, canChangePowerRole=false, canChangeDataRole=false
windows 10 may be the issue. You might have to open the command window as "Administrator". Have you tried on another Windows 7 setup? I have Windows 10 installed, but it works for me.

If you have access to a linux install, plug the device in, and in a terminal window execute dmsg. The last few lines should show something about your device and report a device id. If that works, then it eliminates any hardware issues on the phone side.

Just tried on an old work windows 7 laptop, not recognized.
While it's connected to PC try turning USB Debugging off, then back on.
Tried that as well unfortunately. Also tried changing USB settings from MTP to various other settings and back to MTP. None of the modes seem to be recognized other than charging.
Only other suggestion would be to try factory reset.

I tried the factory reset, but no joy. I'm looking at possibly flashing images in TWRP to see if I can overwrite what might be causing the USB connection (if it's even software related). Beyond that, I guess maybe it's a weird hardware problem. If it were hardware related, you'd think that I would have issues charging or something, but nothing that I can notice.
Forgive me if this is way too obvious. Did you tap on the charging indicator on the notification shade and choose file transfer?
Edit: Sorry I just saw that you don't get a notification on your phone.

1. Have you tried uninstalling the drivers?
2. You should try uninstalling the drivers, turning USB Debugging off, install the drivers from Google directly(probably still the same from the toolkit), then plugging up the device.
I remember having problems with this on my HTC One V thanks to USB Debugging.
What did you end up doing for this? I'm experiencing the same thing, and I'm about to return my phone.
