Looking at an MDA Vario, on the homescreen you can "lock" the device.
I'd like to be able to PIN Lock my device by pressing a key, like I used to my C500 - or a button on the homescreen would be even better. The C500, just pressed the power button and chose "Device Lock" - nice and easy way of securing the phone, preventing anyone from using it.
Whilst I've got the timeout set on my MDA Pro, it doesn't always seem to kick in, and I'd like to be able to lock it manually, but can't find the way...
Can you help?
I agree...
The Qtek 9100 has this nice function as well. Why can't we use it in Universal as well?
set the time to 0 minutes, and then simply switch the device off. This will lock it.

I think the point is, we want to have the "OFF and LOCK NOW" option to click whenever we feel like it, without the inconvenience of having it lock every single time we turn it off.
I see. Looks like a simple program would do that registers for a wakeup event, sends the unit to sleep and then blocks the device until a PIN is entered. However, that can be circumvented easily by a more sophisticated user...
What if a user of a Qtek 9100 (Wizard) could take the Lock Device.exe they have in their ROM's and give it to us???
Wouldn't that solve the problem? :?:
well, let's try !
Anyone??? All we need is the Device Lock.exe I believe from a Wizard...
There is no such file in the Wizards ROM. many have been looking for it, because we want to bind it to a hardware button and remove it from the Today screen. However, none of us have been able to find it. Posting it to you is therefore not possible, sorry.

I didn't know that my friend... That's unfortunate...
Thank you for your reply though
I don't even want to bind to hardware - just the software would be good for now!
I installed the latest UK TMobile Rom, and the lock device today plugin or something like that suddenly appeared... and works perfectly
This JasJar I have Always have problem waking up after period of inactivity. If I had it powered off for too long, I cannot bring it back to life with any hardware button, except the reset. Usually I can still see the green light flashing indicating the phone in on and working. But I had also tried to call it, but it won't ring. As a PDA the problem wouldn't bother me too much, but as a Smartphone it mean I might have missed a few important calls
the only solution i have now is i go to settings, power, advanced and i disable the "turn off device if not use for" option
it works all the time with me but it eats the battery, specially if i am connecting my BT headset
Please if anyone has a solution let me know
thanks
i forgot to say that it happens even if i take the SIM card out of the device, so i do not think it is a SIM card issue
i do not have and SD cards
Any Help?
it happens randomly with no specific reason, but I tend to believe it's due to a third party s/w. If you made a hard reset and kept using the device with only the standard applications, the device will be very stable except the bluetooth issues.
The issue of the PPC power button, whatever a soft one or a hard one, has been consistently existed since I bought my first PPC with PPC2000. I am so disappointed that it is exactly the same case after some 6 years...
It is usually due to some imcompatibility between the system and some today-enhancing add-ons, which seem necessary for us but sometimes however causing problems like a deep snooze...
thanks for ur answers, actually i do not think it is related to 3rd party applications on today screen plugins, since i already had reflashed my device and i am running now with no applications installed, i am not sure what Phono can do for me i will try to contact them today and see if i can get a replacement or what?
yet any other ideas will be really appreciated
Same problem in my device can any one help me Please
Hey, I had this problem too...
The only way I stopped my PDA from freezing like this was to disable the auto power off feature in Settings/System/Power and keep the backlight turned on (but lower without it plugged in) Settings/System/Backlight.
This helps with other bits too, makes the delay in the unit from ringing less and connection time faster.
Regards.
Dave.

Did any experts here got a solution to this? I really don't know why it happened.. I am using MDA from T-Mobile..
still no solution !!
a small update here, i've noticed that this problem does not happen if i am connecting my universal to the power charger, it only happenes if it works on battery, maybe there is sensor or so needs to be replaced ..!!
i am wondering, is it a hardware problem?
do i have to replace my universal ?? or maybe there is something to do with the software or bootloader?

Um.. Today i tried to "tick off" the battery off option under the "System" page.. it works fine for the entire day.. And battery eats up is just normal. Anyway.. I think it's related to some software conflict of resources but not hardware.. um.. at least, this is one of the solution!

Hi,
I'm looking for device lock application, but with one specific feature. I have very close-fitting case and touchscreen is always pressed by it. So one day I found my Diamond's battery completely drained - I discovered that device couldn't stand by because touchscreen was still active.
What I'm looking for is lock application which turns touchscreen off completely so unlocking will be possible only with keys. S2U2 (which I use now) has no such feature, TouchLockPro works unstable when I try to unlock with capacity sensors.
Thanks for any suggestions,

Did you ever tried SensorLock?

Thanks Lycox,
Unfortunately it doesn't lock my device. With feedback enabled it vibrates twice after power on, but PDA is unlocked.
I know S2U2 and PocketShield can turn power off after some inactivity time, but there are applications as SKSchema bypassing lock and you could have important reminders dismissed accidentally.
So - is there "everything locking" application, maybe without beautiful interface, but 100% preventing random calls/dismiss/power on?

Did you try to disable the capacitive sensors in TouchLockPro Because there are enough other means for unlocking in TouchLockPro.....
Hi Folks!
New in the world of WM STD I have the following issues I can't find a solution to. Probably anybody can help cause the solution is nearer than I think...
From WM 6 Prof. I am used to turn on my device with the power button and turn it off, or at least the screen, by pressing it again. With my Snap I just can turn the display on with the power button. Turning off doesn't work for me, I have to wait until it turns dark on it's own. Is there a way to turn the display off by pressing a button like on WM Prof. devices?
I searched for lowering the battery warn level. Right now my Snap starts blinking when the battery is below 20%. In my eyes much too high and with WM Prof. I had the opportunity to change that in the settings. I couldn't find anything similar in WM STD. Is there a way to change it?
Are there any news about flashing a SPL 1.24 Snap? Hard SPL or Jump SPL. I'd prefer Jump SPL, but I would appreciate any solution to get a custom ROM.
Thanks a lot in advance for reading and probably answering!
Cheers

Just to be on the right side: Is that just a thing I see as a problem, is there no solution available or probably I wasn't able to explain my problem properly...
Please let me know.
Thanks

1. There is no way to turn off the display manually..good old non-touch technology
2. First i thought 20% iss to early too, but after it starts flashing, my Snap have only 5-6 hours left on normal use. Typical for rechargable batterys i guess.
3. i have no idea

Thanks for the answer. Yes, I guess the "turning off the display" way only is possible on pocket pc's, if you come from normal mobile phones it's what you are used to...
True about the 20%. Anyhow I wondered if it is adjustable...
Thanks!

Hi all,
I seem to be experiancing intermittent problems with my HTC HD2 backlight/screen. When on external power with setting's "Dim after 1 min" and "turn off device after 2 Mins" the phone sometimes works as it should, other times the backlight only dims and the screen does not shut off. Real nuisence when receiving missed call's at night as the dimmed backlight stays on most of the times.
Its been back to HTC twice for repair and it seems to be coming back with the same problem after using it for a little while. On both occasions they have replaced the motherboard even though the fault sheet on the last repair said Faulty backlight. I phoned them up and the operative said the motherboard was replaced. Unless they got confused with the first repair.
However i have come across this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=561832 "Post 10" which has the perfect mod for the registry, this is however aimed towards SE xperia X1 users, but has reference to it also being a HTC problem.
I have tried the following registry edit "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Power\Timeouts\ACUserIdle: 120"
and it works perfectly just as the device should, the screen dims after 1 min and screen goes off after 2mins. Here comes the problem though, the edited registry values seem to return to there default of "0" when the device is reset or after a prolonged period of time. I am using Resco Registry to carry out the editing.
Is there a way i can get the HTC HD2 to remember/save this registry edit so that when the phone is "soft reset" it does not revert the above key back to Default I thought the registry edit is saved untill a "hard rest" is carried out.
Cheers
I would of thought that someone out of the 72 people that have viewed this thread would of been able to help, maybe im wrong. Im sure this is a common problem, unless im the only one with this bizzare problem. I have tried looking at other threads and none seem to bare the same patterns. Please help me out guyz.
Have a look at Mortscript. It's a scripting tool that allows you to create small text files that run simple commands on your device. You could create one to set the registry value as needed and place it in \Windows\Startup so it runs when you start your phone.
Please! Please! Does anyone have a fix for this? I am in the same boat as the OP. The registry trick works but reverts back after reboot. I hate having to leave the backlight on when my HD2 is connected to the PC. Plus if you press the red button it disconnects from the PC. Hookers & Beer for the man who finds a fix!

Errr.... my post was an answer.
Thank you johncmolyneux, i will look into the mortscript program, You reckon it will be hard to write a program for this? i am very suprised that other members on this forum have not come across this problem.

From what I've seen of Mortscript, it should be pretty simple to do what you want. I've seen many examples around the forums and it was obviously built with ease of use in mind. Just do some searching and I know you'll find what you need.
Good luck mate
