Hi,
I'm looking for device lock application, but with one specific feature. I have very close-fitting case and touchscreen is always pressed by it. So one day I found my Diamond's battery completely drained - I discovered that device couldn't stand by because touchscreen was still active.
What I'm looking for is lock application which turns touchscreen off completely so unlocking will be possible only with keys. S2U2 (which I use now) has no such feature, TouchLockPro works unstable when I try to unlock with capacity sensors.
Thanks for any suggestions,

Thanks Lycox,
Unfortunately it doesn't lock my device. With feedback enabled it vibrates twice after power on, but PDA is unlocked.
I know S2U2 and PocketShield can turn power off after some inactivity time, but there are applications as SKSchema bypassing lock and you could have important reminders dismissed accidentally.
So - is there "everything locking" application, maybe without beautiful interface, but 100% preventing random calls/dismiss/power on?

Did you try to disable the capacitive sensors in TouchLockPro Because there are enough other means for unlocking in TouchLockPro.....

Looking at an MDA Vario, on the homescreen you can "lock" the device.
I'd like to be able to PIN Lock my device by pressing a key, like I used to my C500 - or a button on the homescreen would be even better. The C500, just pressed the power button and chose "Device Lock" - nice and easy way of securing the phone, preventing anyone from using it.
Whilst I've got the timeout set on my MDA Pro, it doesn't always seem to kick in, and I'd like to be able to lock it manually, but can't find the way...
Can you help?
I agree...
The Qtek 9100 has this nice function as well. Why can't we use it in Universal as well?
set the time to 0 minutes, and then simply switch the device off. This will lock it.

I think the point is, we want to have the "OFF and LOCK NOW" option to click whenever we feel like it, without the inconvenience of having it lock every single time we turn it off.
I see. Looks like a simple program would do that registers for a wakeup event, sends the unit to sleep and then blocks the device until a PIN is entered. However, that can be circumvented easily by a more sophisticated user...
What if a user of a Qtek 9100 (Wizard) could take the Lock Device.exe they have in their ROM's and give it to us???
Wouldn't that solve the problem? :?:
well, let's try !
Anyone??? All we need is the Device Lock.exe I believe from a Wizard...
There is no such file in the Wizards ROM. many have been looking for it, because we want to bind it to a hardware button and remove it from the Today screen. However, none of us have been able to find it. Posting it to you is therefore not possible, sorry.

I didn't know that my friend... That's unfortunate...
Thank you for your reply though
I don't even want to bind to hardware - just the software would be good for now!
I installed the latest UK TMobile Rom, and the lock device today plugin or something like that suddenly appeared... and works perfectly
Hello all, hope someone can help. Taking out the stylus does not wake up my htc hd anymore, it worked well out of the box so I initially suspected that it was due to conflicts with some of the software that I installed (i.e. PocketShield/Gyrator2). However, even after doing a hard reset, it still does not work.
Is there a tweak which I can check if it is enabled?
Best Rgds
My stylus never turned the device on when removed. Would appreciate any help.
I didn't think mine did either but I have just re-installed mine then added the hotfix. I have S2u2 set to unlock on removing the stylus and yes it wakes from sleep and unlocks when I pull the stylus out.
It's back after reinstalling Gyrator
I reinstalled Gyrator and after putting in and taking out the stylus twice, the ppc was able to detect the stylus again. Good news is that is is now working.
I suspect I may have uninstalled the software whilst the stylus was out and that may have caused it to be disabled.
Thanks all.
Hey guys, this has probably been answered before but I've had a look around... cant find a solution!
I ride a motorcycle and the satnav on the phone is absolutely superb, I'm using TomTom6, but unfortunately the problem I have is that I have to keep the phone in my pocket... which poses a problem as turning the phone into sleep mode or locking the phone turns the GPS chip off completely!
I can't really keep the phone on tomtom while in my pocket without locking it as touching the screen causes the tomtom to enter the menu and a whole series of settings get touched accidentally!
So is there a way to put the phone into sleep mode, by which i mean quickly pressing the button on the top to turn the screen off... but keep the gps on?
I've tried using HDTweak and AdvancedConfig but can't find the right settings if there are any
Any help would be appreciated!
ok ill be quick before you involke the wrath of moderators, they will harp on about the search and not to keep making new threads which is fairly justified since it makes a big mess here, but anyhow, since you asked, yee shall find..

that will do the trick for you, works a dream for me wondering around the mountains tracking my routes
hope it helps mate, just better remember the forum search next time hay!
my bad! I did have a search around but must have missed it, apologies for useless thread! lol

also you could use another simple piece of soft ScreenOFF. it does what the title said one touch and screen is off so no accidental touches are made in pocket and no locking done...

By using either of these programs... do I need to go into my device's power settings and turn off sleep then?
I'm away to go on a Snowboarding holiday soon, and have a program for tracking my runs etc. I don't want it switching the GPS off and losing my tracks!!
Hey guys, just to let you all know I've now tried all of these programs and they all stop the GPS from working when theyre run... it's a real shame!
Anyone found anything that works?
Have been looking for something like this myself but as the GPS is quite a power hogging device, without external power your battery will drain pretty quickly.
Going a different route myself. Ordered a Suunto X10 and will download tracks afterwards.
Was looking at making a clear, waterproof dash mount box with USB power in the bottom. With a hinged (book-like) front you could drop the phone in on power and leave it enabled running GPS. Would also display incoming callers that way.

neat idea, I was considering making a waterproof case for my motorcycle but that would involve a lot of cost and time. Two things I certainly lack!
Battery seems to be ok for me, I can do a 1.5 hour journey without totally draining the battery. As long as I take my charger with me I can charge at the other end.
I find this problem really bizarre, seems like a bit of a design flaw...
What about a tank bag?
I used to use a blueangel (XDAIIs) on my bike...
1. 3 part tank bag from ALDI 16.99 (With clear map bit at the top).
2. Battery to car ciggarette socket 2.50
3. Headphone extension cable Maplins 1.50
Power and in ear headphones for directions, ok looking at the TT itself whilst moving is not good, but thats what traffic lights are for
Since then I crashed my bike, bought a car and upgraded to the Blackstone.
install MobileMagic and on the Options tab tick GPS and "GPS while "power off".
Having the GPS running all the time does suck on the battery a bit, but I managed 6 hours on Dartmoor navigating with Memory-Map today (very nice it was too, thank you for asking).
been trying fiddling with mobilemagic all week, including the settings you suggested... it's not working The nice lady turns off as soon as I turn the screen off even if mobilemagic has the "GPS while power off" checkbox checked

You are quite right, I hadn't tried it with TomTom.
It isn't a GPS problem tho', it's TomTom!
I tested it out with MemoryMap and a coupla other GPS logging programs, they had no problem with their GPS log when the screen is off. But TomTom suspends whilst the screen is off, even if the phone's GPS is still on.
I don't know how to persuade TomTom to do what you want, but it would prolly be worth asking in the TomTom thread (or at least giving this thread a more appropriate title).
One workaround (albeit a battery draining one) would be to go to Start-Settings-System-Power-Advanced and untick the option, "Turn off device if not used for"
Then lock the screen by holding the Phone Down key.
(I'll just pop out now to check if that works)
EDIT
====
Nop that's no good either... but it's definitely a TomTom issue not a GPS one
(even with the screen just locked instead of off)

Ah, that explains why i can do it, memory map works fine with them, if its just tracking you need i would do as suggested above and force device to stay on but id also make sure to turn the backlight off all together, used to do that with an older device and it will easily last for 9 hours
cheers for all the help guys! I didn't click it could be a problem with tomtom itself, kind of should have realised at some point!
Gonna try Gyrator 2 tomoro while I'm in the car and can keep an eye on it. If that doesn't work, I might try MemoryMap and see if that works. Quite like tomtoms interface tho!
Will update after I've had a chance to play with the settings.
Once again thanks for all the help!

It really depends which SatNav software you're using. TomTom wants to have the screen active to work. Finally I hooked up a female cigarette lighter plug to my motorcycle battery and plug in my phone using a Cig/USB adapter...no more battery drain!
I use NoniGpsPlot.
And I have a feature to turn screen off.
I've tested. The GPS continues to plot while the screen is off.
well it's FINALLY working!
Gyrator2 did the job, if I get it to lock when the stylus is in, the gps and tomtom continues to work with the screen locked.
One drawback to this is that the screen actually freezes so you can't *see* where you're going but of course this is no problem for me as I'm listening and not watching. Pulling the stylus out updates the screen immediately to where you are while running tomtom ofc.
So thanks for all the help guys, so happy to have this handy feature working properly! But yeah, if other people want to do the same perhaps try something else if you want to see where you're going as well as hear!
hi everybody!
I'm having problem. Iolite wakes up when I put it into the case with magnet. i have same problem twhen putting into the auto holder but now it's more serous. Anybody knows how to deactivate such wake up?
I am suspecting some service or driver, but can't tell you now, which one it is, because I haven't time to play with it. Maybe after weekend.
Hi!
So nobody knows how to get rid of that backlight auto turning on?
what do you see when it wakes up? the navpanel?
Baga12: Which part of my previous answer did you not understand? That waking up is because of small sensors on Iolite's back. Primarily, they are there to react to "navi-active" phoneholder. Every time, when magnetic field goes near them, Naviservice is triggered and NaviPanel starts. You can disable Naviservice, but Iolite will still wake up. Therefore, there must be some other service or driver responsible for this. And playing and messing with services and drivers is not an easy stuff, so please be little bit patient.

It just wakes up and shows what was before (today screen). Before I disabled the navipanel... now the backlight just turns on.

Maybe it is easier (and safer) to get another case without magnet?

I finally solved the problem! I just used instructions in the thread "HowTo - Customize Hardware buttons" and it helped. Thank you all for your attention!
It's a small thing, but it bugs me in my daily use of my phone. I recently got my A40 and upgraded Android from 9 to 11, and now I can't lock the phone by touching the fingerprint sensor anymore . But unlocking works fine though. I have been googling around but noone seems to have this problem.
Do anyone in here have aclue to what might be the problem here ?
Since when could you even lock the phone using the fingerprint sensor?
Nonetheless, this is the XDA community of developers, and im sure a random person just needed this functionality on their phone, so they made and app for it..
Anyways, here's a link to a tutorial. It covers exactly what you want, and apparently the app is developed by a couple of XDA developers, so it should be safe too

From the get-go, when I bought my phone. Thought it was normal. My old Moto G5 did same thing. Really handy when you just need to view whatever is on the screen for a short moment.
Locking the screen means turning it off.. (and locking your device so that you have to scan your finger or use a pattern to unlock it again)

Otherwise yes, the phone's screen will turn on on the lock screen if you touch the sensor and the fingerprint isnt recognised. That's not the same as locking your phone. Locking your phone is the equivalent of pressing the power button once, which puts your phone into sleep and forces you to unlock it again (via fingerprint/pattern etc)
Can you clarify what you're asking for here?
Do you want the screen t oturn on when you tap the sensor or do you want the screen to turn off when you tap the sensor?
And do you want it to unlock when you tap the sensor, or do you want it to turn the screen on onto the lockscreen so that you can see the time/notifications etc?
(The links I posted are for LOCKING your phone using the sensor (turning the screen off and locking it, causing you to have to unlock it again when you turn it back on), because that's what you asked for..
