The strange crap:
I take a photo, while I do it, somebody sends an sms.
I make it "save as read".
I finnish photo.
ALL OF THE sudden my internal STORAGE DROPS by
10MB!
I mean I have 10MB less....
And no, it's not the photos stored internally.....
Have you got any clue WHY??!!
How long was that SMS?
Haha, good one.
It was a new Murakami novel in sms form.....
But seriously I'm concerned!
What would instantly fill 10MB of storage?
Is there any log which would be so big??
cache? sms(lol)?, photo? Maybe just something in the background and it will come back later?
Well I also rebooted my X1 after that.
Didn't help.
Sms no as well as photo....
I will go through the folders...
Well, the Programs memory didn't change.
Just Storage.
Soooo strange.
Never happened before.
Listen I think it could be that when you have the camera turned on it caches everything if captures in a temporary folder even if you're not actually taking a picture. This can quickly be 10 MB. And it doesn't delete afterwards because ther SMS interrupts. So ceck your temporary folders and empty them. It sounds strange but it would be one possible explanation.
Maybe you default allocation unit size is like really high, the more stuff you put in your card, the more extra data it will take from your sd card. But the high the unit size the faster.
I am not tech geek so I am not sure if I am correct.

Lol you are correct, you mean Clustersize. But WTF 10 MB Cluster is impossible And I think he was talking about internal memory, not card storage.
Extreme thanks for replies!
Yes I will check my temp folders however I checked some of them and there are not many new files there, nothing big....
Of course I meant internal memory (not programs either).
I'll just add it never ever happened before.
You know, 10MB is ALOT.
Even the pics I took at this time were smaller in whole.
Really strange.
But by the way through walking through menus I moved 50MB
of preloaded films and music to sd card (I thought it was on card).
So I gained 50MB
GOT IT!
So,

a file:
mm1_wsp_wtp_2.log
9.8MB
Can I delete it?!

Since i've had my Wizard, i've installed just about every single app on the storage card, but for some reason now when installing apps i keep getting a storage error, and that there is not enough space. My storage memoery say it has about 6mb free, which i guess is low, but i dont undertsand why this would be filling up?
I have tried to run a search on the large files, but these file are on the storage card? so i dont understand why the phone would complaining about this?
anyway to resolve this?
with some apps, you say to put it on the card but it still put some files on the PPc too, sorry there is no way around this, they just have to run part of it from the PPC
Don't forget that messages, attatchments and PIE cache take up space on the onboard storage, by default.
Thanks, i cleared the PIE cache which has made a big difference. Is there no software available that will tell us which apps are taking up so much space?

If you look here. This tweak program will let you store the IE cache on your storage card.
Also, in your email settings you can tell it to store attatchments on the storage card too.

Ugh! I bought a 4gb storage card. Every application I download, I save to this card yet. I'm down to 3MB of system storage memory. What can I do about this? I'm sick of clearing my storage once a month to be able to use this phone without the memory error popping up. Does anyone have any suggestions? Is there somethin I can do in my registry? I already have my emails and internet temporary files going to my storage card. What else can I do?
...........................................................................
1. Try another ROM-Are you still using the original rom it came with?
2. Make sure all you apps are closed - They usually just hide out open in the background.
3. Oxios Hibernate - I'm sure you can find a copy around here someplace. [Here ya go http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=374029]
4. Could be a memory leak. Certain programs have this effect on WM devices. {See 1.}
Also, remember that text messages take up room too. If you visit alot of websites, be sure to clear that also. I just cleared those 2 myself and I got like 5-6 MB free from just that.
clear temp storage even if it is on your card, it couldn't hurt. also delete keyboards that you installed unless you actually use them a lot because they take up a lot of room. move your ring tones to the SD card as they will still show up. update to the newest official ROM if you don't want to go to a custom, you'll get more memory with the new ROM but not much.

That is very untrue. I rarely run out of memory with Just2Clean.
how is that untrue? i'm on the new stock rom and there is more available memory for storage and program than the stock rom i was on previously.

Sorry I misread your post but I thought you meant a new ROM in general not the Latest T-Mobile Update. Which is still way under performing compared to what the cooks generate here.
oh yeah, i had open tough 5.2 for like a day and it had so much more room after all my stuff was installed, it was insane, but it had some problems that i couldn't deal with so i went back to stock.
What sorta probs?
I found that most of/all the default apps on the Wing are total crap. I use very few applications. I just get my email, browse with opera mini, play solitaire, and listen to mp3's. Any more than that I expect the device to have issues to a degree. It only has a 201mhz processor it can't be expected to do much more.
it would scroll through lists randomly which was pretty annoying. you can't use jivetalk (now beejiveIM) on it. and there were issues with the original dialpad such as being damn ugly, fixed it with a skin but then it does it's scrolling thing when i'm trying to dial a number and then won't let me hit anymore numbers and i have to go out of the dialpad and go back in.

slow down, take a breath....
what rom are you running ???
try installing the cab file for moving IE storage to Storage Card.
on your messages settings save all attatchments to storage card.
there is a solution but you have to let us know whats going on!!!!

haha... thats a good one.. cant do screenshots for all of them, just type in the name of the cab file in google with .cab at the end and do a search, they should all come up with descriptions.
I don't know what ROM I'm runnin. I don't even know what a ROM is. I look around these forums but no one explains, they just say use xyz cab. *shrugs* I'm totally lost
a rom is essentially the operating system that you use on your phone.
If you don't know what rom you're using, you're probably using the T-Mobile stock rom. We highly recommend flashing a custom rom from that POS.
To do that, you will need to use USPL or you will need to HardSPL your phone. Bear in mind that T-Mobile won't help you if they find a custom rom on your phone, but you can just flash back to the original before sending it in.
Read the USPL and HardSPL threads before taking any action

and on your storage memory issue...delete your old mail and text/picture messages then empty your email and text and mms deleted items. also google maps installs and stores its cache in storage memory even if you tell it to install on your card. those are the 2 biggest apps that eat away at my storage memory, although with the open touch 4 lite rom, i usually have 21mb free.

It seems to me that you are experiencing the memory issues that every new T-Mobile Wing is faced with. It has to do with the default Page Pool size.
The easiest way around this problem is to do an upgrade of the new T-mobile software. You can find this at:
http://member.htc.com/RuuDownload/T-mobileUS/Filedownload.aspx?pid=wing
or you can change the pagepool size manually following the instructions at:

Comment 564 by [email protected], Today (28 minutes ago)
@559 - As with any software which needs to do a lot of I/O - the faster the card the
better.
Delete comment Comment 565 by af9210, Today (8 minutes ago)
@564 i understand... do you have knowledge about how it will be implemented..... for
instance do we need to create a separate partition ie ext2 ext4 etc?
Comment 566 by [email protected], Today (1 minute ago)
@565 - We've gone to a lot of effort to ensure you *don't* have to repartition / format your cards for this to work. We coexist with the existing FAT32 partition on the card to ensure compatibility with your existing cards/devices.
sounds pretty good development by the android team huh
sounds good but if i remember correctly the reason the community a2sd devs make it so you have to use an ext partition was to help prevent piracy, and of course have your phone usable when the sdcard was mounted by the pc. i wonder if google came up with a new type of copy protection.

However Ext partitions don't stop you pirating.
I can still get ALL of the installed apps off my phone if I need to and that's using my phone. No special software needed as such (nothing that's not free on the market anyway).
Yup, sounds like a new encryption method.
Yep, noone can boot up an ubuntu cd and mount the ext partition...
More likely it's because fat32 can't handle linux style file permissions.

They could install protected apps onto internal flash - as they do now. Most of apps aren't protected, so we'll still have a lot of additional space.
My theory is that rather than a separate partition, it'll just create a file of xx amount of size on the mem card, then fill it up. It'll probably be somewhat of a safe measure, as it'll most likely be encrypted and of a filetype that isn't common (or it could even be some kind of internal compression method such as zip, but a self written program).
They said they wouldnt do it until they figure out a way to encrypt it.
Ill take it thats what they did.
Yeah, they did say it would not come till they hashed out some piracy measures, not that they will help whatsoever, but they did say that.
I don't understand what the big deal is.
Couldn't they have just done Apps2SD for all free apps and called it a day?
No one is purchasing 500 megabytes worth of apps.
Offloading all the free ones to the SD = BOOM.
Easy and would have absolutely zero consequences on piracy.
Current methods have no consequences on piracy, future methods have no consequences on piracy. Hopefully the gave up worrying about something they can never stop.

That is a very bold statement to make.
Once you can install applications to your sdcard, what's to stop you from purchasing ONE program that is, by itself, 500 MB?
Has anyone encountered a problem as far as apps that are able to move to sd and then disappearing from app menu? As well as icons on homescreen turning to android generic icons? I can still access the apps from homescreen ,manage apps and astro but as i said the icon for the app on the home screen changes to somewhat of a generic looking android icon. One of the apps in question is titanium backup.
Now if i go to manage apps and place apps back to phone everything reappears in its rightful spot. Could it be a temp glitch in froyo? Some setting i might have missed? Any info would be appreciated...thnx
Yes it happened to me, every applications I moved on the sdcard suddenly disappeared from the menu. I had to move one of them on the phone to make them all reappear. As I don't have so much applications installed (~25), I moved them all back to the phone until this is fixed

I had this problem on my S5 when I use Wanam in Xposed to automatically record my phone calls. I wouldn't pay attention and the next thing I knew I had less than 500mb of space left in my internal storage. I would really lose storage when my calls were recorded in HD. Is it possible you have done something like that and forgot about it?
Also, while you're in the setting of your phone located in the first picture, you can select Other and it should pull up what files, and sort them by size (largest on top, smallest on bottom).
Ok so I found a folder called .estrongs that is 7.5GB. What is this?

Ok, I just figured it out! Apparently ES File Explorer uses a recycle bin by default, which is .estrongs this keeps a bunch of crap you delete. I disabled this recycle bin function so hopefully this won't happen again!
