Hello,
I bought my Touch dual 2 weeks ago.
But after a week, i get verry unusual things on my screen.
The windows button appears in shading in the other menus and pictures.
It is just as it is burned on to the screen. But when i SR the phone sometimes its dissapear and sometimes not. Sometimes it is also dissapearing when the phone is on stanby and i turned on again.
Sorry for my English, i hope i explained it well.
I gave it back to the store and i will get my new Touch Dual today.
But i was wondering if someone else have or did have the same problem.
mine (and a few other users phones) came with that error aswell. I did a hard reset and now it works like a charm =)

Ok. I called in the beginning the HTC customer support. They sayed that it is not a common problem. They advised me to go back to the shop and changed with another.
The new Dual arrived today, so if this has also the same problem, i wil try hard reset.
Thanks anyway.
i have the exact same issue on my Touch Dual !!
I'm pretty sure that the hard reset will not permanently fix the problem cause i tried it and after a couple of days it returns. The strange thing is that i cannot find the pattern and how to reproduce it and therefore I'm not taking it to service cause i know their answer and steps: hard reset=>it will work=>give back to customer as fixed
Hi all, I've been searching XDA-Dev for a while looking for someone with the same issue, and although I've found similar issues, nothing really helped much...
A few days back, my HTC Touch (ELF) started playing up a bit; the touch screen alignment was a fraction out, not too bad, just irritating. When I tried to re-align the screen (Start > Settings > Screen > Align), it showed the alignment screen with the + symbol. I went through the taps, and after the final tap it's supposed to go back to the 'Screen' settings window, but instead the re-alignment process starts all over again. It got stuck in an endless loop.
I thought a hard reset would fix it, so after backing up all my data I tried it. I still have the same issue, but now I can't get past the alignment screen during the initial device setup, so I can't use it at all..
Just to give a brief run-down, here is what I tried (in this order):
Re-align - No luck, got stuck in an endless loop.
Hard reset - still stuck at the alignment screen.
Re-flash Onyx 6 R10 ROM - same problem.
Try flash different ROM (Onyx 6 R11) - same problem.
Tried re-flashing HardSPL 2.28 - same problem.
Tried installing different version of HSPL (tried 2.26 and 3.10) - SPL doesn't change, problem persists.
I'm going mad trying to figure out what would cause this, I haven't dropped my phone or had it anywhere near liquid or large magnets, so I doubt it's a hardware problem. But at the same time; if it is a software issue, why doesn't re-flashing Onyx ROM fix the issue?
If somebody could help me with trying to get my HSPL replaced, that should either fix it or at least rule out one possible problem.
Anybody got some ideas...?

Its hardware - your digitiser needs replacing. You can run msp_remotealignment which may help push it through.
Better idea yet, use the search feature, there has been a few of these recently which have all teh information you would need.
For HSPL, look in the rom section and post in the right thread for help with that I guess.

Hmmm... I was really hoping that wasn't the case, I don't have money for repairs right now. But thanks for the insight.

As I said in my opening post, I did search and found quite a few similar issues, but nothing exactly the same as mine.

And yeah, I'll try there (again). Only reason I asked here was in case the problems were software related, and if so that was one part of my device that I couldn't change for some reason.
Well, since I can't seem to find any more helpful information, in the mean time I've ordered a new digitizer... Once it arrives, I'll replace that and see if that was the actual cause of my problems.
if you get stuck dissambling, theres the guide in the rom section I think - its very detailed and should help.
Sorry i couldn't be much use, Its hard to be when at work.

Thanks, I do remember seeing that guide a while back and (ironically) thinking to myself "I hope I never have any need to do that"... And don't worry, I know what you mean; I'm at work as well. I don't have internet at home unfortunately, so at work is the only place I can really get online.
For the sake of anybody else that has the same problem as what I described here: replacing the digitizer worked perfectly for me, I got my phone up and running again last night. This would've all been done a lot sooner, but I was struggling to find the right screw driver to dismantle it (requires a Torx T5)...
awesome, glad you got it all fixed now

I have 2 HD2 1 to learn with and the other for daily use, I had 1of the screens just stop responding to touch it looked perfect, I tried everything I could find on-line nothing worked! called HTC got a RMA autho sent it and before I could check on the status it was back the new screen seems a little different and from the all that i have read and I mean hours it is an issue with some of the devices. make sure to revert back to stock if you've made any mod's at all before sending it back to HTC....
Hi guys, I really need some help with my HD2. The screen has become completely unresponsive to touch (hard buttons still work, so it's not really frozen).
I've performed a task29 and all that jazz but nothing worked...sidebar - I'm a bit of a noob but I've been using custom roms for almost a year now and this is the first time it's happened.
Since this is new, for now I'm blaming the latest HyperDroid-CM7 custom rom for this problem. I would post in that thread for help but I haven't accumulated enough posts yet but when I do, I'll ask again there. However, I've been installing different roms hoping the problem would disappear but even then, the unresponsive screen persists.
Anyone got an idea as to what may have happened?
Hi, it's a well known hardware fault:

Hi,
I have a very big problem with my friend's HTC Iolite. The touchscreen suddenly stop working. When tapping in one place it sometimes send me to another.I tried installing new ROM but nothing.
It actually works for 10 minutes after installing new ROM but then dies.Tried all ROM updates but nothing.
Is there a solution for this or can I throw it away?
Is the problem hardware or software based?
Thanks!!!
sorry to hear that from you, it's a hardware problem. you have to replace your touchscreen. i had the same problem, but luckily i was still in the warranty period, so i had it fixed for free.
