Can you help me?
I have tried " Duttys Disable Sleep in Call " but it doesn't work.
I have also tried to modify:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL
EnableFastDormantDisplayDuringCall=0
and:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Phone
Sleep=0
nothing to be done: it keeps on not working!
do you have some suggestion?
I apologize me for mine bad English and I in advance thank you
Hello, personally I didn't try to solve this as I do like the behavior as it is. But this topic was discussed here in Jade (same chipset and TF2D) forums and here is some tip too.
All registry hacks & Advanced Config tricks for keeping the screen on while a call is in progress do not apply to the Jade/3G.
However, there is a solution to overcome this annoying feature:
install Touch InCall Screen Tweak, and set the options "Ignore first screen off" and "Always On" in the options.

It looks like there is no confirmed solution for our devices yet though. (I know I didn't help too much this way.)
koilos: Why do you want to do that? I think, that disabling screen while calling is quite good feature, because I don't want to perform some operations with my ear . And if you want to do some operations, you can always short press power button to enable it.
Anyway, there are some interesting options, you can play with on your own risk, like
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL -> BatteryTimeoutInCall (default: 5)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL -> BatteryTimeoutSuspendInCall (default: 5)
I didn't look at that, because I didn't have time now. Number should be time in seconds (my device's display goes black 5 seconds after call connects). Maybe it will need restart after change. Maybe it will do something else.
I have tried to modify the keys that you have recommended me ( planned value 60 ) , the display keeps on going off after 5 seconds.
I have obviously effected the soft reset.
Thanks however for the kind answer, if I had to find the solution it will be' my care to post it

Hi every one.
So i set "button lock" and also disable mainly all notifications but every time a new sms arrives, the screen goes on.I will like to keep the screen off because if you carry your magician in your pocket and after that sms arrives, you can accidentaly press any button or even touch the screen.
I been checking every thing i could check but i can´t find the answer about this problem.
Thanks in advance.
Third party software Pocket Zen Phone or phoneAlarm.
Ok i´ll check it and see what i can do.
Cheers mate.

There are many occasions the Magician turns on its screen. Rather than trying to find and disable all these, I copied TPDisable.exe and TPEnable.exe from the original Extended ROM into my Program Files folder, and then assigned them to a hardware key (using Hotbutton, so that I can use the same key for both).
As the name implies, TPDisable disables the touchscreen (not the display!), and TPEnable re-enables it. So, before I put my Magician into my pocket, I now disable the touchscreen (one press of a button). That still leaves the keys active, true, but I found that normally the touchscreen is much more likely to be the culprit when strange things happen on your Magician while it's in the pocket, and turned itself on.
Cheers
Daniel
@ tadzio
Well,that is a very interesting solution,but i can´t find TPDisable.exe
or TPEnable.exe inside my magician.I need a bit more info from you
Daniel.
Thanks a lot for your replies.
What happens if you hold down power button for 2 seconds to switch off backlight? Does the light still illuminate on receipt of sms?
@ cruisin-thru
I can´t see the point of your question, mainly because the thing i am looking for is to "switch off" my Qtek like a normal mobile phone,i mince buttons locks and screen off when a new sms or incoming call arrives and when you push power button for example, then screen go on and also release the lock of the buttons.
Any one can say that then i can use deltalock.I did it but the battery live is going down very quick.
Screenlock is not working properly also,i will say that Deltalock is 95% a lot better than Screenlock.
And finally, why microsoft is developing this OS without fully screen off selectable option???. Who knows!!!
Cheers

Both programs are in the Extended ROM. Most users have made this visible (though not writable) by performing a Hard Reset, and immediately after completing the initial screen adjustment and mini-tutorial and before the device starts installing programs, a Soft Reset.
If you do not want to do a Hard Reset, search this site's FTP server for Magician Extended ROM downloads. There were a few there last time I looked.
Cheers

Well, after config hotbutton to TPDisable and TPEnable i can´t enable the screen and hardware buttons.
TPDisable is disablind the screen but also all the hardware buttons ( with and without button lock at settins),even the power button.
I use same hardware button for TPDisable and TPEnable ,is that correct or i am doing silly things?
If I arrive an sms the screen is switching on and after a few seconds switching off again if I don't press any key or tap the screen!
It's a changeable registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / System / CurrentControlSet / Control / Power /
WakeupPowerOff =12 (the default is 180)
DisableGwesPowerOff=0 (the default is 1)
If you switch on the Jam (power button) need to press some other key too, because it switches off after 12 seconds!!!
by Avers
@avers
Well that is another solution but i insist that there should be an easiest way to keep the screen fully off when a new sms or what ever arrives, including hardware buttons off ofcourse.
Any suggestion more?, perhaps at the end and betwen all of us ,we can find the solution.
Cheers.
I think the best solution is third party software like PHONEALARM,
it's easiest way to get main tweaks of Pocket Windows.
get it there
http://www.pocketmax.net/phoneAlarm.htm
Well my friends, pocketzenphone is not doing what i am looking for.
Next step is to try phonealarm, but probably will work the same way as pocketzenphone, leting the screen to go on every time a new sms arrives.
Sorry for my languaje but F... microsoft and F... devil gates.
As you can read on this post ,phonealarm IS NOT doing it.
http://www.pocketmax.net/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=429
phonealarm has option named "Don't activate backlight on alarm"
ALARM there means any event, that needs notification.
now i am understanding, that it is some differ that you need.
also i advice you make some registry tweaks to make a very short backlite time when sms arrives.:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\WakeupPowerOff = 10
this timeout in seconds. is used when our device self power on, when SMS arrives or we push the POWER button and do nothing anymore
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\DisableGwesPowerOff = 0
this key is enables this power control system (necessarily change it, or first key will not work)
after the editing registry you need to reboot PDA.
sorry for poor english, i translate text from russian.
if you want to use online translator i can give you original URL

Thank you for your reply i will try like you and others point out and also will keep looking for that utopic soft.
deltaLock locks the screen and buttons even if you get sms or calls. I use it on my JAM and it works so far.

If you read one of my post ,you will see that i allready said that Deltalock is working but it is KILLING the battery live very fast and when i say VERY FAST it mince that you will get almost 6hours against the normal live (more than 15hours).
Cheers mate.
I think if you keep your ppc on all the time you will get this battery life. Anyway I think deltaLock is for keeping your PPC on and having screen and button lock, not having it in suspend mode and not allowing the screen to power up. Sorry about that, seem to have misunderstood your post.
Don´t worry mate, at the end we are all together trying to find a solution to this microsoft silly programing, any comment and any new idea is wellcome.
Cheers.
Apologies if this has been asked before, I did search first!
Is there any way to make a shortcut to point to the brightness tab (the slider) for the backlight? The backlight app seems to be accessible by MyCPL.cpl and Backlight.exe, but using the usual syntax to get to a specific tab, ctlpnl.exe mycpl.cpl,0,2, doesn't work.
Any ideas?

Give a try to cplmain.cpl,6 instead - see my related article at http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index.php?blog=3&p=640&more=1 . Haven't tested this on my Universal but, given that almost all WM5 devices I've tested use this, I think it'll work on the Univ too.
Actually, mycpl.cpl,0,2 was only used on some old, ppc2k2 only models like the iPAQ 3660
Nope, not working. cplmain.cpl,5 gives me the 'about' app and cplmain.cpl,7 gives me 'screen orientation' (cplmain.cpl,7,2 gives me 'text size', etc.) but cplmain.cpl,6 (cplmain.cpl,6,0 etc.) does nothing.
'Backlight' is accessible using MyCPL.cpl and Backlight.exe as I mentioned, but unless the syntax is different for these than file.ext, app, tab, neither allow you to make a shortcut to a specific tab
Interesting, will also give it try
Hi!
I am looking for such a method, too. On my device works cplmain.cpl,6. But that only leads me to the backlight options. I cant figure out how to go to "Brightness" cause hats waht I am looking for.
In the end I want to dimm my brightnes with a hardware button.
Anyone an idea? Or an programm that does that? (PocketPlus dont work for me)

If I remember correctly, there should be a button on your universal that changes the backlight setting. If you press the button on the side with the lightbulb on it (next to the slider) the brightness of your lcd changes. Tap multiple times untill you get the disired effect

I´m sure he/already solved this issue, last post have more than a year old
And by the way, this is HTC Universal section
Has anyone encountered this problem??
On an incoming call, I attempt to press "ANSWER" on the touch screen and nothing happens. Pressing "IGNORE" seems to work.
I have the following installed:
- Gyrator 2
- Diamond Tweak 0.5.3
- TF3D Configuration 0.6.7
- AppToDate
Could any of these be creating some form of conflict? I know I should probably delete one by one, but was wondering if anyone else has heard of this.
Thanks

Nooo all good there I was wondering if you had a keydisabler, but you dont.
When things go sour on you phone you should preform a hard reset that solves all problems.

I know this is my first post but my answer key became unresponsive when I changed the pressure sensitivity of my screen...
I used the values people posted on the forum and everything else was fine but the green answer key on the screen wasn't working properly. I changed the values back and it works fine now!

Could you please tell me where in the registry you made those changes so I could check the values. Also, let me know what values you have listed so I can compare.
Thanks
On friday my trusty MPV M3100 decided to give up the ghost, so as I was in London I decided to look for a new phone and picked up an Touch Diamond 2.
And I have to say; I love it.
Best phone I've had and even the lack of a hardware keyboard hasn't bothered me.
There is only one thing which has caused me some bother; on all my previous phones when an sms/mms has been recieved the screen will turn on for a while to alert me of this, however I can't find a way to do the same thing with the TD2.
The reason I would like this is down to me mostly leaving my phone on silent but in line of sight. The silent factor is because I'm often doing things with headphones on (such as at work) and I'm not going to hear the tone anyways.
So, while the green light is nice and all being able to have the screen turn on as an option would be nice..
As a coder by trade I've been poking around to see what I could do to let me do this myself, however if someone has a better solution or knows of an app which can already do it then I'd appricate it if they could tell me
There is a setting in:
All Settings->Personal->Sounds & Notifications->Notifications
Then select Messaging: New Text Message from the drop down list, and there is an option there "Flash Light For: x Minutes"
This might be what you're looking for?
thanks for the reply, however I'd already found that option and it only effects the green light which flashes when you get a messag; nice and stuble in keeping with the device but not what I'm after
Look for this registry value
HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL\DisableSMSWakeUpEvent
It should be 1, set it to 0
ah, excellent, thanks
just curious what program you guys are using to edit registry values...
sorry if this is a stupid question, but i'm new to Windows Mobile.. up until the D2 i've always have symbian phones.
I just did a google for "win mobile reg editor" and installed PHM Regedit to do the job.
Although I'm going to write a quick app to let me toggle this particular setting I think (i'll probably post the resulting cab/exe here encased others want it)
I'm using Total Commander (I just started editing the registry). What do you guys use for making a CAB file?

Thank Oruam, great tweak.
I currently have the option selected to display a new sms message on screen as soon as it arrives, is it possible when i hit reply to get the device to go to the touch flow threaded messaging system rather than the WM6.1 default?
Thanks guys!
Is there any way to have it vibrate & play a sound, but not enable the touch screen? The reason I ask is that I dont want the screen to come on while it's in my pocket etc, and things start to get accidentally pressed!
Awesome! Thanks!

I'm sorry ormz.
I'm interesting for that option to have flash light blinking when sms/mail arrives, unfortunately I haven't got the option you mentioned into my settings referred to "new SMS".
I've got the original rom installed (italian version).
May I arrange same setting/option into register also if I haven't it on display?
Could someone help me?
lock the device:
"real lock" - press the hang button (the one on the right) until it shows unlock at the bottom left side
stand-by - press the power button only for 1 second and the screen will go off. When receiving a message, the screen stays black. To see menu-s again, press again power button for 1 second
someone could tell me how to make it works with email event?
You guys might check S2U2 found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=527523

What are you looking for? Are you tryting to navigate to the registry through file explorer? If so, you need a reg editor to do that...
You know this is an old thread, right?

Hi folks,
i have got a Leo with Energy ROM with Advanced Config pp, BsB tweak, CHT Editor, and too many other candies.
:-(
Now i have the got option "lock Screen while calling" active (that means: during a call, I cannot use any function like hands-free, keypad, mute...). Elsewhere the touchscreen works like a charm.
I don't know where to get rid of that option (whitout a hard reset).
Can somebody help, me to find out where to change it back to normal?
Thank you
RIN67630
Finally, since nobody replied, i hard resetted my device. It took me longer to get it back the way I like it, but i can set hands-free again.
It would be nice if someone knows where the settings to disable the touchpad in-call are, to place a short explanation.
Thank you.
RIN67630
there's a small chance it wasn't the "lock while calling" option that caused it. but the "tap time" modification.
in some ROMs, increasing tap time makes the call screen not register any touch input, resetting tap time to 0 solves this.
