Is this safe ? - G1 General

i have safely flashed the ne haykuro 6.0r1 rom with new spl and radio but i would like to try jf 1.5 would i be able to just use jf updater and flash it fro that app or is that wrong to do ?

it should be fine. the major change in the new spl is the split of the mtd partitions, it should not affect the os much.

error 270 after flashing a rom

so I've created a kitchen for a new windows build (21890), by copying the old kitchen, and adding the new windows build into the copied kitchen. Everything got processed correctly, no conflict of older builds or whatsoever, as the kitchen says the rom is generated correctly.
Then I use the custom ruu to flash the rom, and after 100%, I got a message that the image is corrupted. I rebuild & flash a few times, and it's the same.
So I took the rom, flash it via sd card, and it works! And I thought it could be the cable problem, so I use another cable, on another usb port, and this time round it works. However, subsequent regeneration & flash of the rom fails again. so it's not about the cable/port, something is amiss here.
so enough of long story, what could be the possible reason?? I have been cooking & flashing my own roms w/o problem for the last few weeks except today. So it can't be my notebook problem (which is running on win7 64bit)
anybody? I tried flashing an older rom, w/o problem.
just the new one that I've added the latest build of winmo. No problem flashing from sd card, just not able to flash via usb.
did you install the reliability update for win7 x64 the other day?
ive had issues with using sspl since, sometimes enterbootloader doesnt enter bootloader..
on my win 7 x32 machine at work i have no issues
as i use the 202 spl i tend to use sspl to flash my own roms..

what's reliability update? I checked the updates that happened in the last 2 days, it's just update for MS security essential and windows defender, nothing else.
I suspect it could be the kitchen problem, as I cooked my rom together with radio. Somehow, I moved the source radio nb file, and it appeared to have caused the problem despite me updating the path of the source radio. I disable the radio, cook it, ok. Re-add back the radio, cook it, ok again.
hopefully it stays that way.
BTW, I tried spl 2.00, I can't flash any cook rom ,so those folks who said spl 2.00 is a supercid spl is wrong. I suppose you are able to flash custom rom with spl 2.00 because of sspl? do you need goldcard for sspl, or it can be done like HD?
I'm using the 2.00 spl also and using sspl to flash a new build rom, the OS on PC is W7/32

teh 200 SPL is MFGR, or CID unlocked, which is region free.. or the same as having a gold card.
nothing to do with flashing custom roms, as they still need to be signed by HTC
as sparkie confirms, just use sspl to flash custom roms with it.. (as long as you run sspl while the device is booted not already in 200 bootloader mode).

do I need goldcard to do sspl? Thats what I read before I plunge into hspl few weeks ago.
edit: oh so what you are saying is that the stock spl 1.42 requires gold card to achieve mfgr, whereas 2.00 spl is already mfgr so Ican just do sspl directly w/o any need for goldcard?
I flashed now several times in spl 2.00 mode, when it freezes because I made a not bootable rom, I have to flash the 2.02 rom again and after that i flash again with sspl
it could be the LeoCustomRUU.exe file you have may cause the problem. Who knows? Have you tried hex compare the RUU files?

SPL 0.95 Radio 1.22.12.29. Update radio first or SPL first?

Hi, Dear

I search the net, some posts said, If G1 has flashed with SPL, it cannot update radio again. Otherwise it will turn your G1 into a brick.
I don't know, if I could update radio directly or have to do some other operations.
My G1's voice (My friends always tell me my voice from the phone is not clear, seems in a very noisy environment) is not so good. Radio version seems out of date.
Any suggestions? Thanks very much!

Thanks very much for the URL to download all the files.
But I still don't know, if I should
A) Remove old SPL-->Flash radio-->Flash SPL new
or
B) Flash radio --> Flash SPL (new)
or
C) Back to RC7(Downgrade) -->Root-->Flash Recovery -->Flash Radio-->Flash SPL -->Flash ROM
which choice is right ?

Do NOT install the "2005" spl.
There is only ONE valid SPL that is better than the one you already have... 0.95.3000 (engineering SPL for ADP1).
The "2005" spl is NOT COMPATIBLE and SHOULD NOT BE USED.
You can update SPL and RADIO in ANY ORDER YOU LIKE, as LONG as you do NOT use the "2005" SPL, which you should under NO CIRCUMSTANCES EVER use.
If you use the "2005" SPL, you might kill your phone!
It is NOT WORTH IT.
There is also NO REASON FOR IT.
Despite some people claiming that it is better, it is NOT, the only notable difference is that it remaps the partitions.
There is NO REASON to remap the partitions.
If you find your /data or /system partitions too small, MOVE SOME DATA TO /cache and symlink to it!
Also note: you may, with the current SPL, write the newest RADIO IMAGE. Unless you *must* change the SPL, you can leave it alone with no ill effects. The SPL will NOT affect voice under any circumstances.
I also suggest upgrading from 1.5 to 1.6.
Finally, the radio image you have installed corresponds to android 1.0. 1.22.14.11 corresponds to android 1.1, 2.22.19.26 corresponds to android 1.5/1.6. In other words, your ROM doesn't match your RADIO.
Dear lbcoder
Thanks very much for the details.
I am new to G1. The ROM installed now is a Chinese version from [hipack dot com]
I will check if the system could work properly after I flashed the Radio.
If not, I will update the ROM as well.
Thanks again for your reply.
Also thanks to evilkorn.
Regards.

remove ENG spl

is there a safe way to remove it because after i installed roms are slower and i get more force closes!i want to remove the spl so i can get functionality back and speed
Just flash another spl that is compatible with your rom over it.
what SPL are you using, strange. I've never heard of this problem before
What is your radio that you flashed with? You have a 32B Magic?
I'm pretty sure that it isn't the new SPL. I would try wiping the sd card partitions, re-partition it, then flash the ROM.
thanks this worked!

I have 3.03 SPL, can I run Android?

So I have 3.03 SPL, 2.15 radio and 3.14 ROM. Can I run Android from my SD card without flashing anything?
Yes, definitely. I have SPL3.03, flashed the stock ROM (keeping the radio) to Dexter and installed MDJ Androoid builds. I guess you could skip the flashing with Custom ROM and install Android on the stock or flash to any ROM compatible with your radio. Look here to see how to flash w/o HSPL. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=606713
I confirm
I tried to install Android but when I run it, a little bit of text appears for a couple of seconds and then it goes to the white htc screen and wont boot even after 40 minutes of waiting.
Do you have any idea why it doesnt boot please?
Did you try to format your µSD card? Probably you'll need to flash your ROM anyway, but flashing without HSPL do not void your garanty and do not cause problems with SPL3.03 RAM.
Try to hard reset your phone, format SD card and try again.

[Q] Flash SPL to Enable All RAM

I have an HTC Magic 32B (myTouch 3G) and I installed CM6.1 to it a few days after the new year started. I noticed on Wikipedia that it is supposed to have 192MB or RAM. However, if I look at the OSMonitor app it only reports 98568K total memory. (To be sure that OSMonitor is correct it says my Samsung Galaxy S has 341000K which is what speedmod kernel says)
I read on other websites that flashing a new SPL unlocks more RAM but I am not sure which one to flash. It looks like this kind of flash is one of the most dangerous. I would really appreciate any help in flashing a new SPL. From what I have read, it appears that flashing is done using "fastboot" through ADB.
Just a side note: I got the phone in December and it came with Android 1.5. Immediately it did 2 over the air updates. One of them appeared to hang in recovery mode until I pressed a key and I got the choice to restart. The other over the air update went by flawlessly but none of the updates appeared to upgrade Android 1.5 (which is why I installed CM6.1).
Need your current fastboot information. There is an SPL made by ezterry that remaps some of the system RAM from the camera to the OS's usable memory that you can upgrade to...it's known as the 1.33.0013d SPL which will also require a radio upgrade to 2.22.28.25 or 2.22.27.08. It's fairly simple, the danger parts comes from trying to do the process improperly or by using an incorrect SPL/radio combination for your device. The danger is minimum as long as you do everything correctly. The only real danger would be if you let the battery die during the update or if you do something radical like dropping the phone during the process. Even then the danger is slight. I'm assuming you've already got a custom recovery installed since your using CM 6.1, did you install Amon Ra's recovery or are you using ClockWorkMod?
hboot-1.33.0013
radio-2.22.19.261
recovery: amon-1.7
From what I read it would be: wipe cache, wipe dalvik, flash radio, flash SPL, reflash CM6.1? I've heard bad things about flashing radios. I've noticed that the web browsing on the mytouch 3g (htc magic) is considerably slower than my SGS, both running android 2.2. Would the RAM increase really help the performance or not?
Not really. There isn't much you can do for the speed on the Magic because of the hardware limitations. You can actually just flash the new SPL from recovery. If you search for the 1.33.0013d SPL there's a thread for it that has an update package for going from the 1.33.0013 SPL to the hacked one.
Sent from my LG-P500 using Tapatalk
Well if it is not worth it, then I don't think I'll do it. Thanks for the opinion.
Well it couldn't hurt either and it's not that complicated. Just download this file and flash it from recovery.
Well according to this won't I have to flash a new radio? On top of that, will I have to reinstall a ROM because I read that after flashing a new SPL it takes you back to recovery after rebooting because the ROM has been erased. In that case, could I use a nandroid backup? I also read that you must do radio first then SPL right?
I also saw this on that link "> A Rom (note: many cm6 based roms block install because of the '1.33.0013d' bootloader Please use firerat's SpoofSPL) "
My apologizes, I brain farted on the part about you having CM 6.1 installed.
