remove ENG spl - myTouch 3G, Magic General

is there a safe way to remove it because after i installed roms are slower and i get more force closes!i want to remove the spl so i can get functionality back and speed

Just flash another spl that is compatible with your rom over it.

what SPL are you using, strange. I've never heard of this problem before

What is your radio that you flashed with? You have a 32B Magic?
I'm pretty sure that it isn't the new SPL. I would try wiping the sd card partitions, re-partition it, then flash the ROM.

thanks this worked!

perfect spl question

i have the google mytouch, 32b with 1330006 spl. i was reading the wiki and got a little confused as to how to flash a new rom. it said if installing a rom over the old then i dont need to flash spl, but then it said i need to if i have a perfect spl.
maybe i read it wrong but i want to clarify this before i brick my phone lol. also, is the gold card way the only way to flash the spl? no other easier way to do it?
if i try to install a rom after formatting the phone but leave the current spl on there what would happen? im looking to get the super d rom if that helps.
thanks

SPL Confusion

I'm a little confused on some of the specifics of SPLs.
When I rooted my MT3G I used the one-click method and didn't have to worry about doing anything with the SPL.
I'd like to try some of the other ROMs out there - but I see that they either require an Engineering SPL or the Death/Danger SPL. I know that the SPL changes the partitions on the internal memory of the phone - but I can't seem to find any info on what those new sizes are.
I've been told that the D/D is an Engineering one - but that I don't need it? So I'm a little on the confused side now.
Can someone help me get some clarity?
Your spl is not a Eng one it's a Perfected spl.
Try using the goldcard method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=548218

1.33.0006 is a perfected SPL but as they stated, they're already rooted. Luckily with that SPL you can still use the one-click method. Ignore this post about using the goldcard method.
Eng and Death/Danger SPLs increase your internal ROM, allowing you to flash larger custom ROMs onto your phone. However, you have a MT3G which has much more internal ROM space than the G1, so you DONT need to flash an Eng or Death/Danger SPL. Doing so will only increase you chances of bricking your phone. One bad flash and your screwed. So, if you already have a custom recovery installed, find a custom rom that looks good to you, boot into recovery, perform a full wipe, and flash the rom. However, make sure you pay attention to rom specific installation instructions before you flash it. Some will require that you flash the DRC83_defanged_base.zip before flashing for legal issues, and others, mainly eclair roms, will require you to partition your SD card. Good luck! Also, I recommend using Super D, its a great rom!
Thanks sombionix!
Yeah, I used the one-click method about a week after I got the phone and have been rocking the current CM and A-Ra recovery ever since... this was late 2009.
So...
If something says it needs an Eng/D/D SPL I can ignore that and try flashing anyways? The perfected SPL that you and I have is pretty much an all-purpose SPL (for lack of a better term)? The worst that will happen is that it won't work and I can just restore a BART save of my current working CM?
Damn us geeks for being so fickle.

Pretty much. Most of the ROMs I use are for the G1, which has a smaller partition than the default MT3G. The SPL is what changes this, so if the G1 requires a different SPL, chances are it'll still work fine on the MT3G.
Awesome!
Thanks somb & cougar for the help! I'll be doing some happy flashing sometime in the near future.
The G1's original SPL, and the Engineering SPL and Hard SPL, had less onboard space to store ROMs. The Magic has more onboard space, so Haykuro took the Magic's SPL and backported it to the G1.
This was called the Danger SPL or Death SPL as you needed to be running the latest radio for it to work. Many people did not work this out till later and bricked their G1s. Now we know this, so flashing Danger SPL is not really dangerous at all.
Every Magic already has as much space as a G1 with Danger SPL, so Magic users can use any ROM marked "Danger SPL" without concern.

[Q] Need to go in for Warranty

I have a custom ROM on my device and I need to go to T-Mobile for warranty.
Can I install a T-Mobile ROM, T-Mobile_HD2_MR_Software_2.13.531.1.rar, I downloaded from their website, without creating any problems or bricking my phone?
I not asking for any guarantees, just a professional opinion.
Thanks to all for all the great work.
run hspl3, choose 2.08.0000 this will remove hspl, then flash the rom you mentioned, (just run the .exe, no need for sd card) which will return to stock the rom, radio and spl
I'm not an expert by any stretch but from the research I've done I would surmise you have to A. Change back to SPL 2.8.0000. I just changed my HSPL back to SPL 2.08.0000 based on the answer to my thread and then B. reflash the TMOUS stock ROM. I have read that reflashing the ROM will revert the SPL from 2.8.0000 to 2.10.000 which is where I started. I have seen people state that even after relashing the SPL is still 2.8.0000 so then the next step is flashing from the SD card as instructed in the tutorial on the HardSPL exe file. Hope this helps.

Thanks too All
I will charge the phone up tonight and get er done tomorrow.
Just curious, what would happen if I installed the T-Mobile ROM without removing HSPL?
Thank you all for the help.

[Q] Got Hard SPL now I'm Stuck... Please Help

a similar question has probably already been posted
i have a tmobile hd2 (obviously)
i successfully hardspl to it
i flashed the energy reference rom
then i realized that i needed to use the task29 tool before
i flash any rom... did that, hard resetted, and then tried flashing again (energy referecne) using the sd card method
and i just get stuck on the "NRG" screen
tried the other custom ruu method getting the same results
using the radio 2.07.50.27 and 2.12.50
i put back the regular spl to flash a stock rom but still no luck
i know the phone isn't bricked i can get to boot loader, hard reset
any help would be much appreciated
Thanks in advance!
Thanks!
Download the stock 2.13 ROM, slap it on your SD card and flash that way. It will wipe out HardSPL and put back the stock 2.08 SPL. Then flash HardSPL AGAIN and your custom ROM. Note that you don't HAVE to Task 29...it's just recommended by some people. I for example have NEVER Task 29'd ANY of the devices I have owned..and have never run into problems.
I had the same problem and from what I know of, it's cause you don't have a Rom installed since you had hspl it, so it means you have to install a custom rom or stock one.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong please.

HD2 - Resetting to stock software.. For warranty!

Ok, I know there have been a few threads on this. I've read all of them but still slightly confused.
I have an HD2 (der) with a custom rom, HSPL, Magldr 1.13..
Basically, what in the world do I need to do to get it back to "stock". I installed a rom from the t-mo website for this phone. It loaded windows, yadda yadda. But I know it still had HSPL on it.
Also, do I need to flash to a certain radio?
So far it has HSPL, a new radio, and Magldr 1.13.
Im sorry if this is a redundant question.. I just want to make sure I get this right! This phone was doomed even when it had Windows 6.5 on it. I rather not have them tell me I was the one who ruined it because of Android.. Even though it was acting up before it.
Thanks guys..
If you have the HDSPL yet, you have to uninstall it by running HDSPL3 and selecting *.spl or *.0000
Did I answer to the question ?

because usb flashing doesnt change the spl (hspl), only the splash, rom and radio.
Either - flash it again from the sd card, or use hspl3/4 to reset the spl manually, , if you flashed 3.14 rom, choose spl 3.03.0000, else chooe 2.08.0000

Ok, I'll download HSPL3 and flash it to spl 2.08.0000. This will look like it's stock to the technician, correct?
Also, I found this link (I apologize if I'm not suppose to post links like this, let me know and I'll remove it ASAP!)

Yes. Correct. It is stock SPL. But, if you only flash it via HSPL, it will not flash the ROM itself. Your current ROM will remain. If you want to go back to original stock rom, you need to flash it again.
Cheers
Ok, here's what I did..
I downloaded the stock rom for my phone (using my IMEI number on the tmo website). I went into HSPL mode (the tri color screen) and then ran the .exe on the computer and it flashed it.
Currently, it's still running HSPL. If I flash HSPL to SPL 2.08.0000... This will look completely stock, correct?
Thanks for your help! I get to send this in today!
Also, the radio is 2.15.50. Is that stock... ?

Yes that's right but it will be easy if you flash through sd card method it will write stock SPL ( you wouldnt do anything wrong if you install through hspl )... do do that just extract ruu you downloaded ( use 7-zip just search google its free) find ruu_signed.nbh and rename to LEOIMG.nbh copy to sd card and put in phone ... go into bootloader and follow instruction on screen.. and you are done.
But you alrady installed stock rom so to save time just put your phone into bootloader - tricolor screen connect to pc and run hspl and install stock spl

Thank you VERY much! I guess I'm just paranoid my $200 phone I got from craigslist will be deemed "rooted" and sent back to me with a nice "eff u" on the package from HTC.
The radio is now stock, everything is back to stock. SPL (no H) 2.08.0000. Yadda yadda.. It's still being a PITA.. so yes, I guess it is a hardware issue... yay for warranties!
