I have been lucky enough to get hold of a HTC Dream and have found it 10/10. Has anyone found any good applications for Australian based users?
I noticed that there is now a "HTC Dream Australia" facebook page created. Do you think this means that there is going to be some activity in the market soon?
Hey man, I'm an Aussie user. Have had mine for 2 months or so.

There's a few other Australian G1 users on here too.
Most apps are all available to us (but some region specific ones will launch in the market too). Any type of apps you're looking for in particular?
HTC's latest device.
By the sounds of things there is going to be a device launch tomorrow for HTC's latest device.
"Here at Giz HQ, we've been gazing at our crystal balls, dialing up 1900-psychics and consulting the stars to try and make sense of all the HTC Dream Android rumors we've been hearing the last couple of weeks. And now, like some gigantic puzzle of epic proportions, we've put the pieces back together to create an all-but confirmed analysis of what you can expect: The HTC Dream Android phone on Optus, on sale later this month (with an announcement coming Thursday)."

In my opinion the plans seem to be reasonable. They are priced a little higher than the iPhone, but you need to remember that this phone isn't the iPhone. I would handle paying extra for the Dream, as the Dream offers me more in return.

Guys seen this?
http://www.clonedinchina.com/2009/08/pictures-of-htc-hero200-leaked.html
That thing look ugly compared to the european htc hero. Guess ill keep my hero even if 3g doesn't work.I got used to it already.
Yeah - I'm glad Australia supports 3G bands with the original Hero
Oh dear lord no! I've been waitng for the Hero and I will get the Hero! Not that piece of crap! Ugh I guess if that comes out on Sprint, I'm going to have to wait for a Rogers Hero so I can at least use 3G.
Please Sprint get the European Hero with the update. T_T
I don't like this one, its so ugly. i like the the hero that i now have the original look and i'm happy with it
I actually don't mind the re-design, I JUST WANT THE CHIN !!!
They call that a Hero???
There is only one real Hero and it's the Eu (white) one!!!
Proud owner of a sim-free white hero!!!
Mm, saw this on Engadget this morning. Can you say ugly!? Glad I have the original
yeah this really looks ugly and boring, but it seems like some carriers are afraid of using anything different than the IPhone formfactor.
i'm also happy to have the white teflon coat hero!
Hopefully thats the crap sprint gets. And the Hero that passed FCC with 850/1900 will be the original.
i really hope this isnt sprint's version of the hero. it does have a sprint look to it so i don't doubt it. maybe the dude who called the hero out for us can justify this.
Oh man... that thing looks so average and boring and a little on the bad side of disstastefull =_=;
What are they thinking? the oringinal hero looks pure sex, but this thing makes the G1 look nice >_<
Is it the market they are trying to apeal to? they some how think gold trim is what the majority of people want..
Maybe it was because many people complaining about the beautiful chin and thus they want to appeal to the mass? I personally love the chin and can't wait to get my hands on the Hero in a few days.
I love the Chin. I want my Chin. Luckily for me i also have the sim free white teflon coated HTC Hero and using with T-mobile US!
This thing is beatiful and all my friends envy me for having it. they either have an iphone or some windowd mobile crap... Nothing compares to the Hero especially after applying the leaked update. This thing is blazing fast!
So disgusting, I want a Hero SO bad, but would like 3G to at least work if I'm spending that much money
I don't like it at all, but is that Battery on lock screen thing a widget that currently exists?

It's just a battery status notification when your battery is at critically low level.
Its the new htc android based phone codename: Tattoo. It will be a budget model.

what a disappointment!
I've been waiting months for the hero to come out in the US only to be disappointed! Why would they do this to us!?
If I could buy a Hero in its original design and have it work on the 3G network for TMo, I would definitely buy it rather than Sprint's monstrosity.
Hi guys, before it goes on Ebay, would anyone like to swap their Magic for a Dream G1?
Mine is rooted with CM 4.0.4, Its boxed with all the bits, The casing is a little scratched but the screen is perfect.
Let me know, Ill post ebay link here if it goes on.
Cheers
Mark
I'd be surprised anyone who has rooted their Magic will trade for a Dream. IMO
Try CEX
Cheers buddy why not exchange it for vouchers at CEX?

Given the fact that a magic lacks a keyboard, it should't surprise you at all, especially since all else is IDENTICAL.
Some (unusual) versions of magic (like the one sold by rogers in canada) have more memory, but typically, a keyboard is far more important than that.

I respectfully disagree, first off HTC Branded Magics are actually more common than you think, all Asian countries, Canada and some European countries have the 32A version. The reason you might think that 32B are are more ubiquitous would be based on the amount of ROMs made for that version. But that is mostly because most developers are from the US which has the 32B version.
Secondly, if given the choice between being able to use more resource demanding ROM like Sense UI (thanks to the developers here at XDA) or a less that stellar keyboard. The choice is obvious to me. Hence the reason I mentioned rooted phones.
Such as the title, can help each other:O
Atrix devices sold in China, most likely are ****ed up with 3rd party ROMs (bunch of crap apps which provide profit to ROM makers, worse than Carrier IQ i guess)
Just don't go back to chinese forums... trolls everywhere. hate to say tho.
这里比国内论坛都好,,
Neha.

Taiwanese Atrix user here.
I'm a Chinese user!
Im sorry, Im sorry. I read the thread title and cant stop laughing. Seriously funny sh** right there! I love Chinese Engrish grammar!

Just here for all the Australian Owners of the S3.
I have officially ordered/upgraded through Optus for the 16GB Pebble Blue.
Sadly these are not in stock (due to the faulty battery covers)
Didn't expect to see this thread so fast! I rushed to my optus store (I ambled actually), they put one aside for me and came back at 12 to pick it up. I worked through the crush of people and managed to be the first one in the store to get one (actually, I was the only person in the store apart from all the staff who'd just been briefed on how to deal with the 'rush' of people ).
Now to find a solution to the standard swype beta which opens as about a third smaller in height than the normal keyboards.
You don't need it ' swype is already on the S3. Just not enabled by default
Sent from my Xoom using XDA
there was already an Australian thread lol
requested them to be merged
Dupe dupe dupe, and merging threads is messy and makes mods cry, use this thread
Cheers.
