My Hermes just died today. No type of LED while charging even without the battery in. I was wondering about switching the fuse off of the motherboard (A solution I found after some searching through the forum). Where do i purchase the fuse? any suggestions? has anyone ever done the switch before?
I have some experience with motherboards and I have opened my Hermes before (once for an LCD swap, once for a keypad problem).
Thanks for any help in advance!
Unless you are pretty experienced in surface mount soldering and electronics, you will probably fry your Hermes.

My 2i's charging connector broke. Sent it back to O2's repair centre and they specifically said that the mainboard has to be changed. Anybody here know of any thrifty way to get hold of a mainboard or a something similar? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Vincent
fixed same problem my self
Hi ,
I received a similar device from a collegue.
His charging connector was completely severed from his mainbord.
I opened the device and solderd it back on my self. Device is working again.
If you have te same problem maybe it's cheaper to find someone who can do this for you then looking for a replacement mailboard.
I have to say I had to try it 2 time because the connections where really tiny.

exactly...tiny...
You're right, it's very small, plus I have fat fingers. Well, maybe I should get someone to do it for me. I was hoping for a short cut solution and not too expensive one as well. I might try that after the holidays..
Hello all,
I'm newby at the forum and sorry for my bad English. I just read all the threads concerning my problem, before post this, and a can't find any solution
I bought this phone on ebay faulty. The seller tell that it only problem was white screen. I thought was simple to fix with flashing but... I tried to fix it using all the solutions even i just open it and clean with a soft brush but no luck
When i turn it on i just see a white screen. When a plug it in ac adapter he charge and when a plug it at my desktop e charge too but don't syncronize with active sync 4,5. For this i don't know if is a software or hardware issue.
I can't put into bootloader too.
Any Help? I don't want spend my money in a new lcd without your opinion.
Thanks in advance for all e regards from Portugal.
This topic has been covered many times, which is perhaps why folk will not answer in a new thread about it.
Have a look here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=321163
But in summary:
Flashing will not cure it.
A new screen will probably not cure it.
In many cases it is caused by a fault on the d/pad. Replacing that might be successful. In the thread above look for the bit about putting padding on a d/pad chip - that seems to have worked for many (but not all)

Hi there. I just open a new thread cause i had read all the things in the link you gave, with no luck for me. But thank you for the help.
Hello! I have the same problem with my Hermes. But I know how to solve it - at least in my case. I had to open PDA and look inside. There's a tape (strip?) which is connected by two screws. Well, one is gone. The tape doesn't lie as it should so I had to connect it by glue. Now it's fine. It was physical damage, flashing wouldn't help much, especially here but my thougts were similiar in the beginning.
Good luck and Cheers
Hello, i have broken HERM100, would like to fix it if it fixable, it doesint respond in any key presses, dosent make any sound, any leds ar lit. Just turned off once and didnt turned on agen. i thought it batery or charger problem, but after left it all day on charge batery was charged now i mesured it's shows over 4 volts. So what can i do? i dont wan to throw it away, maby i could fix it?
Sounds like blown fuse. Though its possible to fix, unless you know how to do surface mount soldering you can just about forget it. You might also find someone who can fix but this may be expensive.
As the Hermes is getting a little dated, might be a better idea to put the money into an upgraded model... Don't forget though, if there was no other problems you might get something for the old Hermes on ebay selling as spare parts...
Cheers...

Not really anything to check. I notice the most common thing that's true when the fuse blows is that the charger is connected. Likely then that it's caused by power fluctuations (not unlikely given the relatively crude nature of chargers) or issues related to the charging circuit. Chances are though that replacing the fuse will be all that is needed.

you was right. after changing fuse device powered up thank you for suggestions. this device have hard spl and modified ROM, keyboard doesnt lit. is this firmware isue or somhere is other blowed fuse ?
My usb port has been flaky for a while but finally gave out totally recently. It's actually loose inside the case. Over the past couple weeks my digitizer has also been going bad. I read about how you can press the power button hard to get it working again, which works but it seems only a matter of time for that thing too. Anyone got any recommendations for what I could do? I ordered an external battery charger and battery but all it accomplished was frying my old battery. :/ I might try to solder a new usb port on once I have good reason to (read: solid mango wp7 rom.) but if my digitizer is done it's not really worth it. Why would pressing on the power button revive it when it's not working? I'm hoping it's just a loose cable.
Bottom line, does anyone who's had these problems (they're the two most common HD2 hardware issues afaik) have any recommendations for solutions?
Your USB port issue probably can't be fixed.. unless you can find someone who is willing to help you solder a new usb port to your motherboard (or you can do it yourself if you have enough skills)
As for your Digitizer, you can open up your hd2, and check if the digitizer plug is loose (located under the lcd). If it isn't, that means your hd2 digitizer is dead, and you should order a replacement.. (of course, please see here
I have the same issue with my Infuse. The digitiser only seems to have a problem for the four bottom buttons. They have a mind of their own. The rest of the screen is fine. My USB port is intermittant. I'll probably just take it back to the store though. Sorry I cannot help.
Hey guys just wondering if there is anybody in Melbourne or Australia or anywhere for that matter that may have a old broken HD2 (preferably T9193) that i might be able to use for spares ?? I currently have one and have dropped it and now it's colours are up the sh*t i have done a screen and digitizer replacement and without any luck the problem still persists any ideas would also be greatly appreciated
Ps. if i twist the phone in oposite directions the problem goes away which leads me to believe that something has come away from the board itself i have looked and cant see a thing any suggestion would be greatly appreciated
Maybe mainboard connector, have you tried applying pressure to connector socket/ribbon with it stripped but screen, mainboard rigged up with battery & bench test it while applying pressure to mainboard connector/ribbon with insulated/earthed tool.
maybe abble to fix it if can find out exact point of problem but most HD2 faults need replacement parts to cure faults long term ...
