Hello all,
I'm newby at the forum and sorry for my bad English. I just read all the threads concerning my problem, before post this, and a can't find any solution
I bought this phone on ebay faulty. The seller tell that it only problem was white screen. I thought was simple to fix with flashing but... I tried to fix it using all the solutions even i just open it and clean with a soft brush but no luck
When i turn it on i just see a white screen. When a plug it in ac adapter he charge and when a plug it at my desktop e charge too but don't syncronize with active sync 4,5. For this i don't know if is a software or hardware issue.
I can't put into bootloader too.
Any Help? I don't want spend my money in a new lcd without your opinion.
Thanks in advance for all e regards from Portugal.
This topic has been covered many times, which is perhaps why folk will not answer in a new thread about it.
Have a look here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=321163
But in summary:
Flashing will not cure it.
A new screen will probably not cure it.
In many cases it is caused by a fault on the d/pad. Replacing that might be successful. In the thread above look for the bit about putting padding on a d/pad chip - that seems to have worked for many (but not all)
Mike
Hi there. I just open a new thread cause i had read all the things in the link you gave, with no luck for me. But thank you for the help.
Hello! I have the same problem with my Hermes. But I know how to solve it - at least in my case. I had to open PDA and look inside. There's a tape (strip?) which is connected by two screws. Well, one is gone. The tape doesn't lie as it should so I had to connect it by glue. Now it's fine. It was physical damage, flashing wouldn't help much, especially here but my thougts were similiar in the beginning.
Good luck and Cheers

I have a problem with the screen on my wizard...
When I close the screen, the characters appear with wriggly lines in them, as if they are breaking. If I slide the screen open, even just a little, the characters are stable.
Any ideas?
It seems more like a Hardware fault the software, but no harm confirming. The 'Digitizer' of the Lcd is faking out or connection problem of the connectors, did you disassemble the device recently or something for repairs,or did it fell on the ground and got damaged.
Which OS version Rom your are using,if you have upgraded to any custom Rom,may be,I don't think so,but might be there's a chance, reflash the Rom again and check if it helps.
cheers
I flashed the rom & reinstalled the OS, but still the same problem. So it looks like a hardware problem.
Probably some connector cable or something.
Are these difficult to open, or should I take it somewere to get it fixed?
Well, if it's still under warranty, then I'll suggest you contact the vendor from whome you got it and let them fix it,otherwise,if you got any experience and knowledge of disassembling and repairing it,then download the service manual from the vendors website or from the xda-forum wiki and try out.Otherwise consult a repair shop.
Cheers
Well, I got a manual for the wizard, openned it up, tightenned all the connectors & cables, and now it works like a charm!!
Thanks for the replies.
Hi all,
I'm real frustrated at the moment with my i-mate jasjam branded hermes 100.
It started a couple of days ago when my screen would get all glitchy. I ignored it. Then i got it whenever i put pressure on certain parts of the casing and now from that it manifested and it does it whenever i hold it in a certain position etc... It's really starting to tick me off... 1300 dollars for this? has anybody experienced this issue? ive heard it's a hardware problem... im running shamanx windows mobile 6 ultimate rom...
I need my phone to keep in contact with some real important people.. any ideas?

He may have been lucky. Here we re-use threads and there have been quite a few on the white screen problem.
Here's one of the main ones - I suggest you look at the suggestions about placing a pad on the D-Pad chip:

Ohk
ohk sorry but the buttons do work perfectly fine it's only the screen... also the usb port is loose so whenever i need to charge i need to push it in a particular way so i just place it on its face upside down to charge and i use an ftp program to get files off of it insstead of usb >-< it was a really nice phone till it started doing this and cbf sending for repairs il just buy a new phone when i get the money and yeah if i decide i might try something that requires opening it up but i just cbf

Well, the reason to pad the D-pad chip is because the d-pad circuit board is the one that the screen connector connects to and the chip is the one that processes the screen signals. So although your buttons work fine, it is still that board that causes the screen whitening.
The usb port sounds like the anchoring solder joints may be cracked. These can normally be resoldered.

Hi Gr33kJag,
Try to perform the solution provided by mikechannon only if u can assemble and de assebmle ur pda very accurately, because the pros and cons of that method are describle in that page.
This solution worked for me at least and i am very much thankful to mike for giving me solution to that problem.
hey guys!
i really like you´re forum, it was helping me several times...
now i need you´re help again.
I think you will easily recognize that i have a bad problem with
my hermes - if you look at the attached pics.
The touchscreen is working, the device is booting too and is working nice...
but, uhm, well - i don´t know how to fix the problem shown in the pic.
I´d be really grateful if you can solve my problem.
I don´t know what to do, i just disambled it and cleand everything, i tried an hardreset... the problem´s still there. =(
Regards
We'll see what others think, but looking at picture 3, I'd say your LCD is cracked and the the liquid crystal seeping out a little under te digitizer layer. If I'm correct there is only one practical solution and that is a digitizer LCD combo replacement.
If you replace it be very careful to replace it with the correct one - Hermes had at least three different types and it is essential to get like-for-like.
There is a thread here about the different types.
Mike
One way to check if it's a crack is to place some pressure with your finger along that diagonal line - if you see odd colors moving around in a "liquid" way then it is pretty certainly cracked.
Ouch, i also think that, that is a crack.. Did you drop your device or something.? I think you really need to replace your display..
first of all: thx for the fast responses
i tried what you suggested to check if it´s cracked... unfortunately you´re right
i think a replacement would be too much efford and it also would be too expensive and risky... so i think i gonna buy a new pda... htc of course ;-)
thx to you all

For some reason people dont like answering hardware questions on these forums. People dont respond and then searches reveal nothing when new members ask these questions again.
So what did you do/find? Was it some connector which had come off in the fall which just needed pushing back on again?
Yes it was d-pad connector again.
Thats because sometimes people get lazy ..
I have been through that phase too...
searching "WHITE SCREEN" got me allot of results...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=321163&highlight=white+screen
Actually, I searched the whole forum and on net for white screen problem. And i also followed them with no positive result so I initiated a thread here. But later I keep trying/opening/reassembling the device and my device came to life but still any hardware buttons on my jasjam isn't working.
White screen issue usually involved with bad flex cable.
I Had this problem, and it was fixed by cleaning (gently) the contacts of the flex cable with toothbrush and contacts cleaner.
if that doesn't work for you, and you know that this is a flex cable issue, try to replace by a new one...
I have found this one, maybe you can find cheaper.

Hey guys just wondering if there is anybody in Melbourne or Australia or anywhere for that matter that may have a old broken HD2 (preferably T9193) that i might be able to use for spares ?? I currently have one and have dropped it and now it's colours are up the sh*t i have done a screen and digitizer replacement and without any luck the problem still persists any ideas would also be greatly appreciated
Ps. if i twist the phone in oposite directions the problem goes away which leads me to believe that something has come away from the board itself i have looked and cant see a thing any suggestion would be greatly appreciated
Maybe mainboard connector, have you tried applying pressure to connector socket/ribbon with it stripped but screen, mainboard rigged up with battery & bench test it while applying pressure to mainboard connector/ribbon with insulated/earthed tool.
maybe abble to fix it if can find out exact point of problem but most HD2 faults need replacement parts to cure faults long term ...
