no need for add/remove programs here! simply go to start-settings-today-items, uncheck touchflo, hit ok. go to system tab, remove programs, and remove the 2d! no extra programs needed. it may take a few minutes to uninstall but i have not had the uninstall fail on me yet.
Failed for me last week. Yep, tried what you said. 6.1 tilt. It WAS the newest release at the time.
Just a heads up.

Hmm. You say "no need for add/remove programs" but then "go to system tab, remove programs".
Also, please don't start threads unless you're contributing. This should have either been posted in the Manilla 2d thread, or not at all. We all know how to remove apps. I know your new, but maybe reading the forum rules wouldn't hurt.
SkTool is work.
Please englighten me - why does the 2d **** not work on non-htc devices as advertised in the main manila 2d thread?

Because Manilla is an HTC creation and only works on HTC phones. It's like putting the Mac OS on a PC. Apple made it for Macs, and it only works for Macs

why do you want sh... on your device ? Pure pleasure
Removing Manila
although its gr8 to have manila on HTC touch (i thank da xda guys), but if at all u wanna remove it, try removing it by SKtools.. google sktools and u'll find it. its pretty easy to uninstall but u cant uninstall thru phone's native "remove programs"
I'm not asking whether it works or not, I got that obviously already, I just wanted to know why. And thank You but I think the PC/Mac parallel is a bit exaggerated cos HTC and ASUS for example are not that different like ASUS and iPhone.
The reason I referred to Manila 2D as **** was exactly the reason that it requires specifically a HTC device. Therefore, it's **** for me as I can't do anything with it owning an ASUS device. And I just wanted to know why.

Because HTC locked it to their devices and specific files are needed that do not work on non HTC phones.
OK, thanks for a clear and concrete reply.
This thing isn't removing from my Kaiser...I've followed all instructions but everytime I try and remove, it gets to the end and then says ...
"It wasn't fully uninstalled, do you want to remove from the Remove Programs list?"
I've tried rebooting, then trying again, taking it out of the Today Items list, and still no joy - how do I get this pointless pile of crap off my phone!!!!!!!!!
Appreciate your help!

Thought that'd be the case, fortunately Vodafone are giving me a new phone tomorrow anyway beacuse my phone keeps receiving MMS (the same ones) over and over again, they reckon its the phones fault!!
What a waste of time this Manilla 2D is, worst more pointless thing I've ever installed!!
somone lock this thread and delete it. as its going no were.
@ ashleyhall : your phone was recieving the msgs due to a program you installed. a hard reset will fix your msgs problem and manila being on your phone. good day.

Ahhh ok, Vodafone didn't have a clue, checked the network, changed my price plan (how pointless!), my phones acknowledging an MMS being read, but not Delivered - lets see if the new phone cures the problem, then I'll shove the same apps back onto it.
I need a break from WM6, considering Android...but a little scared!!

Can be a bad setting that create those crashes.? what's your opinion.?
The cause of this problem is \Windows\htcapi.dll. Uninstall the program that put it there and you'll be fine. Or just delete the file. If it came with a custom ROM rename it to something like htcapi.dll.bak.

This .dll is attached on other critical component inside the PDA or i can change the extension without any problem .?
It's not part of stock ROM, doesn't exist in your device as it comes from HTC. It's added by some programs like "Diamond Hologram", some tweaks intended for "optimizing" device performance, and sometimes ROM chefs include it in their custom ROMs. So if you get rid of it some programs will stop working. I've never seen an important program use it though, so it's safe to at least try. The problem with this dll is that it's taken from some other devices and isn't made for HD.

Ok i've changed the extension and soft reset..the browser seems to be ok now.! i've tryed to open/closed 3 or 4 times and the phone won't crash..! amazing.! but, why this .dll create this conflict with opera.?
I have no idea why this conflict exists, but generally if you take a driver from one device and try to use it on another you're asking for trouble.

Oh is right.! have you seen that in April will go out Touch HD 2.? the camera will have flash.! but i think that the Touch hd 1 remain the good choice..what do you think about.?
This is completely off-topic, but yes, I think HD2 will be my next phone. And yes, HD is a very good device to my taste.
but i am having problems with opera in default rom which is from orange
and even updating with new orange rom opera is not stable especially after enabling plugin in settings of opera
its all with out tweeks and moding
I have no idea what that Orange ROM is like. If there htcapi.dll in \Windows? If yes, rename it and see if it helps.
Apart from that, what plugin are you trying to enable?

unable to find file htcapi.dll in windows folder
i do not have exact idea of these plugins(i believe it to be java ) but opera settings >advance settings have option to enable plugins
The fact that there is a setting doesn't mean you have to change it, especially when you don't know what you're doing. Just disable them and live happily ever after.

Hi Crapbag (LOL - never thought i would address some1 like that )
You will loose the following:
1. Contacts
2. SMSes/MMSes/Emails
3. Any third party program that you have installed or additional .cabs you may have installed.
4. It will reset all your personalised settings and make it like its just out of the box..
You will retain all the programs that came with your HD2.. fo e.g. office.. router.. preloaded games.. compass.. etc.
i am a android, symbian and mobile OSX pro and im new to win mobile so please forgive my questions. now when you say i will loose contacts and messages do you mean the sense UI version of these apps and be stuck with the default windows version of these appsg?

OK.. let me put it in the lamest of the terms..
What you have now on your HD2.. that all will be there in the same way..
When I say you will lose contacts.. i mean the actual contacts... name-number etc... not the format or the sense UI...
Plus all other third party applications lwhat you have installed will be lost... your phone will be like it came out of the box..
ohhh lol i thought u meant the apps lol. im gonna install the rom when i get home. how is everyone finding the new keyboard sensitivity on 1.48?

It depends on what ROM you are on.
If the programs are cooked into the ROM, you cannot remove them.
You can flash a cooked ROM with different games.
I dont know how to delete the actual demo, but you can delete the shortcuts. Just go to Files Explorer\My Device\Windows\Start Menu\Games and delete the games shortcuts that you dont want to show up in startmenu. After this, I guess you can just delete the game folders manually. However, I dont know if this will mess with your device or not. So I think it's better just to stick with removing the shortcuts. Besides, the demos don't take up that much room anyway.
I'm wondering if various included applications such as the Bing widget, Blockbuster Mobile, B&N eReader, the Gameloft game demos, and so on... could be removed? SAFELY, of course.
They just create what seems to be (and probably is) unnecessary system bulk. Not to mention, those game demos are completely hideous, and they obscure the potentially "uncluttered" Start Menu applications tray that could be had.
Could someone perhaps offer a bit of insight, maybe even enlighten me a little bit on this topic? Thanks.

They can be removed in a cooked ROM, not sure if it is safe for a user to try and remove the files though. Remove one of the wrong files and you have a problem. Most of my ROMS I remove all of this stuff for the same reasons you mentioned.
i just did. everything's fine, except I accidentally deleted opera too, but thats easy to be cabbed back.
Thanks for shedding some light on this topic fellas. Great feedback. But yeah, I kind of figured that the icons could be removed from the Start Menu tray, the program files could be deleted, (with a system warning - of course) and it seems that even after that things SHOULD BE just fine.
From what I understand though... T-Mobile has made sure that some of these third-party apps cannot be deleted. For instance, I'd like to know if TeleNav and MobiTV can be rid of as well. Seriously, once freeing OUR version of the HTC HD2 of all this corporate junk and clutter from T-Mobile partnerships... it'll be very, very quick. (As if it's NOT already...)

there is nothing T-Mobile has put into this rom that can not be removed when cooking. it is just a pain to find where they have implemented all the crap, some times is in more then one place the same change.
Shortcuts will be under \Windows\Start menu\Programs, related program files will be under \Program Files, shouldnt cause any issues deleting them.

Very true. However, would you suggest that the average Windows Mobile user attempt to dump, remove various things, then throw it all together, OR... simply use Resco File Explorer to remove the unwanted programs, system files, etc.?
I used to develop for Android, but this stuff is an entirely different ball game to me. So, I'm trying to learn the YES and NO basics here. Thanks.

cooking is the best way to remove things you do not want. a user can delete all the crap they want but this will not give them more storage (files cook in can not be deleted just hidden) but rater just hide things they do not want to see. just remember that if you delete a program, make sure nothing else uses it.

They can be reomoved but the registry has to be edited to remove some of the keys.Do one at a time and make sure the phone works ok for a few days before going on to the next.
you can do it but i wouldnt reconmmend it unless u know what ur doin but will say the each program is spidered in to the device the best sure way is to upgrade to a cooked rom but i must say but..............
WARNING U CAN CHANGE UR ROM BUT DOING SO WILL VOID UR WARRENTY WITH TMOBILE AND CAN AND WILL SPEND ANYWHERE FROM 50 TO 100 US CURENCY DOLLARS ON HAVING HTC DOWNGRADE UR DEVICE BACK TO ITS SHIPPED STATE BUT YES IT CAN BE DONE AND THERE OFFICE IS EITHER TEXAS OR CALIFORNIA I FORGET AND CAN TAKE UPTO 2WEEKS BUT I WILL SAY IT WORTH THE RISK JUST READ BEFORE U MOD........
ive deleted everything but telenav and mobitv, and no issues
Even though these programs don't show up in the Remove applications, they are able to be removed manually to release the storage--if you know where the files are located. (icons and shortcuts are easily removed).
However, whenever you do a hardware reset, they will come back, since they are part of the ROM which they could not be removed there.
