I installed mort player and I didn't like it but when I try to uninstalled it, it just freezes....
It still works but I can't uninstall it - any suggestions?
Is there any other way except with "remove programs"? When i click on remove i can just see that "windows circle" (that it's working something) and that's it....it isn't freezing completely but i can feel that processor is on 100%....
I have the exact same problem whether I try and uninstall from the phone or from the Add/Remove programs in the Windows Mobile Device Centre.
Using version 3.31b77 on an unmodified 1.14 ROM. It seems to hang after the "Save Settigs Option" has been presented and answered YES.
Just had a thought: If you answer NO, then the uninstall progresses.
Then for good order I deleted the MortPlayer folder in Program Files and I used a registry editor to delete the key:
HKCU\Software\Mort\MortPlayer
which should delete those "saved" settings.
Same problem as the others here. Just wanted to confirm that golightlygl's solution works fine. thanks!

I installed a similar program which kept freezing the Touch HD.
i installed the program and i don't know what happened but it said unrecoverable error has occurred and to reset the device. I did and phone worked fine but i couldn't enter Settings as it would freeze the device.
Deleting registry didn't do it, and the found out Active Sync allows you to uninstall programs too.
It saved my hyde, didn't want to hard reset it at all.
I've had the same problem with Mortplayer but I'm also experiencing some other issues and I don't know yet if they're related.
Ever since about the same time as I installed Mortplayer, my mp3 ringtones have stopped working. I can't use any mp3 based system sounds anymore.
Has this happened to you as well?

it could happen when you have those type of files (i.e. mp3) associated with a music player, like mort player or pocket player, etc.
in the player option uncheck the file type association and then the rings will work again.
at least worked for me
for uninstalling mort player you can try pocket mechanic. use uninstall and after that the file system cleanup option.
BUT TAKE GOOD CARE WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DELETE, BECAUSE IT COULD ERASE IMPORTANT THINGS, and the you coul only reinstall the whole thing
Thanks, but since I tried to uninstall it the Player Options now longer work. Tried reinstalling but that hangs as well. Will look up pocket mechanic... maybe this will end in a hard reset...
or maybe not!
if you have other music players installed, check them also

I installed skype but it caused the qtek 9100 to crash randomly and very often. I removed the software, but now almost everytime i come from standby mode i have a notification box that it could not run programs/skype.exe
This is really annoying as I already removed the prog, and I have no clue what is trying to run skype on the phone. How can I check this / remove this?
Thanks.

check notifications
I had the same problem. Using the software "check notifications" I removed skype.exe and the problem is solved.
The software also increases the performence by removing multiple running processes.

These arent my words, ive just copied and pasted from another pocket pc forum. Maybe it'll help.
Problems like this come from invalid entries in the DB_notify_events WinCE database. You can correct this by hand (if reinstalling & uninstalling Skype doesn't cure it):
1, get Pocket dbExplorer from http://www.phatware.com/hpcdbex.html
2, install and run
3, go to DB_notify_events
4, go to the last entry of the list on the lower half of the screen - the 2nd "TEXT" entry. You'll see the EXE name in the upper half of the screen.
5, press the right arrow until you see a link to Skype.exe.
6, press AT THIS RECORD the Delete button.
Hm, I don't find the DB_notify_events. I wonder if you have to buy the product in order to be able to do this.
I still haven't solved this problem
Is this what one can expect when Microsoft hits the mobile? ...just waiting for the viruses and BSODs to hit.

How does getting rid of Skype from Notifications help
Not knocking it, but how does getting rid of Skype from the list of notifications help ?
Not knocking it because it seems to have worked!!
Update: I still got a Skype erro after doing the remove, but since doing a Clear in Check Notify it hasn't re-occurred. Fingers crossed.
Hey guys!
Something strange is appening on my HD.
When I run Opera, from the TF3D tab, it crashes...
I Run it, and the is just crash. When I press the cross, it is not in the Task Manager anymore, but I can't run it again, so I've to Soft Reset it...
bump. please help me!
bump 2? I really need your help
not enough info to help
what rom you running?
what tweaks you performed?
what other apps you have installed?
have you hard reset and tried opera before you install anything else?
sorry but your question is like saying "my car dont work"
I'm running the default ROM.
The only tweaks i've perfomed were the HD Tweak and Advanced configuration
I've some games, Wireless Monitors, and when the problem started I installed Opera 9.5 but neither Opera 9.5, neither the default Opera run well...
I' haven't try to hardreset my phone, but when I bought it, before install any app it was well.
Maybe the problem could be the low free space i've on the Read Only memory?

wouldnt of thought so, but a fix to try is to put your temp internet files onto the sdcard instead... you have emptied the cache yes?
as you didnt have a problem before (when it was new) i would try rolling back to the origional opera, moving the temp files to sd card and checking through the tweaks youve done with hdtweak and advance config (both pretty powerful apps and can balls it up if you dont know what u r doing
I've had very careful using HD Tweak and Advanced Configuration. I'll try that cache thing.
Btw, there isn't any option instead of soft reset the HD, for run opera again? I can't close it, because its not on Task Manager...
Did you install FlashLite3 ?
Deinstall it and check again.
No, I don't have it installed.
It could be the ATI driver?
Now I can't even open the browser. It is crashing when Loading...
Well? Any ideia guys?
I have a similar problem. Mine crashes often and it allso disapears from the task manager often and can't be started again til I softreset.
I allso have the default ROM, original browser version, no Flash installed but some cosmetic tweaks like extra TF3D-tabs, TF3D-tweaks etc.

Install Advanced Config. Go to Locations and change default storage location to location you prefer
possibility...
Opera was always crashing for me too. Once I get a new device I always overload on applications, just to see what works, then I restore the factory settings. Once I restored, Opera worked without crashing! I am not saying that another application was the cause, but restoring the device somehow fixed Opera.
Well, I was trying to avoid Hard Reset. Any other ideia?

I used Resco file explorer to solve this prob (I had the same thing happening). Open Resco file explorer, navigate to a pic file (usually .jpg), tap and hold, choose "open with" and then select the program you want. Check the box "always use this program" and you are set.

I am sure there is. You would have to edit the registry. However, I have no clue what key to edit, so cannot help you further. Sorry.
The new version allows you to choose which file associations you want - so the problem has been solved. Thanks Kinoma!

Go into "Get Apps" and download "Advanced Settings." From there you can easily change your file associations.
Hi All,
I have had my HD2 for a couple of weeks now and am loving it but I am having trouble with the Sense music player. The problem has happened to me twice now and the only way I can resolve it is a hard reset which is a pain to be honest.
The problem I have is without any warning when I select the Music Player from the slide bar on the home menu the Music Player has stopped working and just shows the"Launching HTC Sense" screen and returns to the home page. The first time it happend it was after I copied across a load of MP3 files. I tried a soft reset which had no affect so I went for a hard reset and that fixed it. I copied over a smaller number of MP3 files a few days ago and it has been working fine until tonight. The same problem has returned. My music plays in media player fine without any issues.
Can anyone shed any light on what the cause of this might be and is there a way to resolve it without a hard reset?
Thanks in advance
Simon
First thing to say is transfer your music over using disk drive mode, not activesync. (or better still if you have a card reader on your pc, put the card in that way and drag n drop your music to it, then back in the phone and let it find it.)

Hi,
Thanks for your reply. The first time I did this was via activesync but was having some issues so reverted to using my card reader on my PC the second time and it all seemed ok until this evening where all I tried to do was try to play some of the MP3 files.

I've been having the same problem for the last week - very infuriating. Just thought I'd add that I tried the above fix and it worked, sweet as a nut.
Fantastic, and a real relied not to have to do a hard reset. Thanks.

Hello,
there is a small bug that many users may not have noticed in EC05. When I want to set a custom ringtone for a contact with a custom sound, it force closes and says android.acore.process is not responding.
Can someone fix this?
Thanks
The way to replicate this bug is to go on contacts, select a contact, edit contact, set a custom ringtone, and press sound. It will force close.
Sounds like you got some bad data...

i think he needs to wipe the contacts data...
Goto: Settings/Applications/Manage Applications/Contacts/Clear Data..
As long as you have them synced with google you shouldnt have to worry about if they get deleted...
Edit:
Just saw how to replicate it, and yes it does fc, a simple way to avoid this is too not click sounds and click ringtones instead...

Does the FC error happen with your mp3 sound files or all of your sound files. I personally use .ogg sound files and I have zero issues. I was having FC issues with some mp3 files especially if they are larger mp3 files.

It doesnt have to do with the sound files it has to do with the option sounds in contact custom ringtone, it force closes, like i said if u dont push it and push ringtones instead u are set for what ever files u please..

I just copied a mp3 file into my media/audio/ringtone and I played it with my settings/sounds/Voice call ringtone and I always get this error message [Activity Android System (in process Settings) is not responding] it will play the music but afterward you can not play another file after it, instead your phone will temporary lock up and then the following error message will appear [Activity Android System (in process Settings) is not responding]. I can not afford for my phone to lock up because during a phone call because I use my phone to help me pay my bill and not as a toy. If my phone locks up my client will us call the next person in line.
P.S. Are you trying this or are you going by what android should do?
I am using the Midnight Rom 5.2 Standard Edition and my DRM files are frozen with Titanium Backup.
I just unfroze the DRM and I still get the same error message. All I my ogg files work perfectly find only that one mp3 file freezes my phone why is that?

I can do that now try selecting another file after that file and see what happens. All I am trying to do is get to the truth of the matter. Is this problem with just my phone or other phones too. I want my phone to play the MP3 ring tone and then afterward do something else. Not have my phone play the ring tone and then lock up afterward.
My phone plays mp3's as ring tones but, it locks up afterward making the notification useless because when my phone does unfreeze the phone stops ring tone and I can not receive the phone call.
I want to play mp3 files as ring tones but having my phone perform at it's optimal level is more important to me than a cute ring tone especially if I can convert the mp3 file into a smaller ogg file anyways. I just lose the sound quality put gain a phone that is 100% reliable.
If this is a problem maybe the developers can fix it and make it more stable.
