Hi All,
I have had my HD2 for a couple of weeks now and am loving it but I am having trouble with the Sense music player. The problem has happened to me twice now and the only way I can resolve it is a hard reset which is a pain to be honest.
The problem I have is without any warning when I select the Music Player from the slide bar on the home menu the Music Player has stopped working and just shows the"Launching HTC Sense" screen and returns to the home page. The first time it happend it was after I copied across a load of MP3 files. I tried a soft reset which had no affect so I went for a hard reset and that fixed it. I copied over a smaller number of MP3 files a few days ago and it has been working fine until tonight. The same problem has returned. My music plays in media player fine without any issues.
Can anyone shed any light on what the cause of this might be and is there a way to resolve it without a hard reset?
Thanks in advance
Simon
First thing to say is transfer your music over using disk drive mode, not activesync. (or better still if you have a card reader on your pc, put the card in that way and drag n drop your music to it, then back in the phone and let it find it.)

Hi,
Thanks for your reply. The first time I did this was via activesync but was having some issues so reverted to using my card reader on my PC the second time and it all seemed ok until this evening where all I tried to do was try to play some of the MP3 files.
Simon
in that case sorry, no more ideas.never had a problem so never had to look into it.

Hi all.
I've been having the same problem for the last week - very infuriating. Just thought I'd add that I tried the above fix and it worked, sweet as a nut.
Fantastic, and a real relied not to have to do a hard reset. Thanks.
for that people like me- i couldn't find the solution here

Anyone have this problem? I'm using the 8525 and haven't installed anything recently that I can remember or would cause PIE to just close. It was random for a while but it's gotten worse and pretty much happens all the time now.
If anyone has any ideas as to why, I'd love to hear them!
TIA!
I had the same problem but it went away when I cleared PIE cache and cookies. Hope it works for you too.
Ahhh, thanks. I had been clearing the temp internet files and history but totally forgot about the cookies. I think that did the trick. It's behaving more nicely now.
Thanks!
In my when I applied the hack to store temporary internet files to the storage card it started to behave like this i.e closing down by itself but all became ok after I removed the hack
Regards

Hmmm... thanks, that's something to keep in mind. I did this hack. If it starts back up, I'll have to remove the hack.
Okay, PIE is still crashing so I want to reverse the "cache, etc on storage card" hack, but I don't remember the original settings.
Is it just \Windows\Cache, \Windows\Cookies\, and \Windows\Temp Internet Files?
TIA!
Well in my case IE seems to be saving the cache files at:
\windows\profiles\guest\content.IE5\

I have been using skyfire for a while now and it has been awesome. but today i went to use it and there is no sound. everything else on my phone that has sound works. i have no installed anything or changed anything since last time i used it so it should work.
Click Menu then Action see if Mute is checked.
its not muted. I made sure phone volume was 100%. SKyfire was unmuted so i tried muting and unmuting t osee if it was just glitching. i reinstalled skyfire. nothing. i love skyfire but i need sound
they are having audio sever problem. try to restart Skyfire few times until it connects.

If Settings/Advanced Options/"Hint for mobile version of pages" is checked, it seems to kill the sound. Unchecking it fixed my sound problems.

it happened to me too
what you have to do is a soft reset on the phone then it works again. it's a glitch.

This seems to be the only way to resolve the glitch.
i experienced this problem when using wifi for skyfire. i resolved it by listening to a song on windows media player while opening skyfire and as i navigate to the video or audio page. once the page loads and starts (and when i see the little speaker appear at the bottom right of the screen), i switch to and close wmp and then watch the media with sound on skyfire.
same as you...no audio ,no mute no wmp running, and softrestart also not wok
Me too. no sound.
I'm stuck too...No sound. Help gentelmrn.
I dont know what the problem was one day it wasnt working another day it was and no problems since. I think it was some kind of fluke or maybe they were doing something with their server that prevented me from getting the audio stream.
well as of today 1100am (approx) the sound was working in Skyfire on my phone...but before today i hadn't really gone to any sites that had sound...
the only thing I can suggest is make sure you have their latest version... 0.8.0.7081 Skyfire has been having some problems and they have released 3 new updates in the last 3 or 4 weeks... hope this helps.
actually there is a fix for this. For those who have not resolved it yet. In settings make sure that you DO NOT have suggest mobile checked. This is in the advanced settings. Then do a soft reset. Also Skyfire has its own audio server so you may have to reload sometimes to get it synced.
Thanks!
Was just trying to figure out the same thing, I'm gonna try it now
Make sure yous guys have the very latest version of skyfire beta. Its open for immediate download so don't hesitate to just go to skyfire homepage put in change devices and send it via text message to your titan.
What can be so annoying about some member that post on this topic lol they say go to website download and there you go.
I manage to get skyfire working sounds ok too,
for xperia the file is for touch version and my version that works has a file size of 584,909 bytes. Install to device, The version I have running for that cab says is version : 0.85.0.7927 remember to run wvga fix first and set to vga mode, Then start Skyfire
Also if you have a problem with it saying authenticate and checking data go to your phone connection settings and untick your proxy for your internet connection (effectively bypassing it)
p.s dont worry t-mobile users since your using the same acess point your data cost wont be affected depending if your on web,n walk (uk)
enjoy next time any member posting please explain fully its anoying when they generalised to a point and expect everyone to get it straight away we all are not geniuses phewww.. i feel better now

Thanks this Worked Great for me
Hi All,
Very weird one this, I hard reset due to installing that virus (3d shoot 'em up thing here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=650393 ) and have come across a strange issue within Sense.
When I press "Settings" in the start menu (or slide across to it within Sense) I get the HTC settings menu, so far so good.
When I press "All Settings" under 'Menu' it opens the 'Connections' window, not the standard Windows settings, if I close the 'Connections' window, it returns me to the HTC settings menu.
Anyone know where I might be able to change the link, or at least find what the 'Connections' link is, so I may track it down please?
sorry. didn't fully read your post.
Half-asleep.
Please ignore me this time.

No problem.
I've managed to display the "All Settings" icon, albeit from within the Start Menu using the registry:
hklm -> security -> shell -> startinfo - change the "hidesettings" to 0.
I've found from the above, that "cplmain.cpl,19" seems to reference 'Connections', so pointing my search toward that at the moment.
Unless anyone else has any assistance?
Just noticed your post and having suffered also at the hands of the 3d terrorist bastards I thought I'd check mine......guess what.......all settings displays just fine, everythings there and opens up, trying to get out of it though is a different story, pressing "ok" just causes a pause, screen flicker and then same settings screen to reload.
Another problem I'm having since that virus is neither the htc music player or windows media player work at all.
ringtone doesnt play either.
Is that another hard reset I hear approaching?

These stories are tragic disappointments... I cannot believe everything that has surfaced from this TROJAN program. It's unbelievable... because here we thought that such a thing would NEVER happen to any of us.
I think more attention should be paid towards this issue... it's a rather SERIOUS inconvenience for a lot of people.
Hmmm not had any issues with this trojan other than it dialling out, although I did switch off the phone as it was half way through it's hilarious attempt at pissing me off. Media player is fine, sms is fine, email fine, rss reader, shares, weather, in fact the phone is now running better than ever
One things for sure, I reckon open market will be hit hard by this, once bitten twice shy so to speak.

Nah, I'm a glutton for punishment.
I've learnt a hell of a lot about the registry on this thing that I wouldn't have gone near otherwise!

Awesome, love my XM.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Just tried it a bit. I'm on Fresh 3.2. It used to not even connect, just say "Aquiring Data Connection"
With this update it plays and doesn't loop, but it sure does jump and skip quite a bit. Guess it's a start....
Only Froyo ROM I've ever gotten SXM to work right on is CM6 - which I don't wanna go back to.
Nice thanks for the update. I guess signing up on their webpage for an update email was pointless.

Well thats how I found out they emailed me. Also make sure you dont have the stagefright fix since I am also running Fresh 3.2 and had to switch back to stock stagefright files in order for it to play properly.
1 hr running and no problems so far... Thanks XM

Please tell me what you did to stagefright. I know Flipz made some changes to it but I don't know how to undo them. In my build.prop the player is enabled and it still skips a lot.
Thanks!!
I am using Fresh 3.2 and the new SiriusXM app is working fine for me. I'd say about 3 skips every hour or so. I actually only use this for Bloomberg and CNBC - I much prefer slacker and pandora for music, so a couple of skips is no big deal for me.
What I desperately can't figure out is how to record a live stream off the sound card (for lack of a better term). All recording apps seem to use the microphone only. Any ideas so that I can listen to specific CNBC shows like Kudlow on my ride home?

Just extract the stagefright files from your original rar file and then ad push or copy and paste with Root explorer into the system/lib folder overwriting the files that are there now
Then replace the build.prop with the one from your original rom rar file as well.
I WIll try and attached them here for you.... what rom are you running

Actually, after a reboot, I'm finding no skips at all as well.
Hate to bump this thread up again, but seemed like the best place to post rather than making a new thread.
Is anybody having issues with SXM 1.1 and connecting in the past couple of days? Its worked flawlessly for me since the update, and I've been happy with it again. However, now, on startup, the application hangs on "Checking for Updates".
Tried clearing data, uninstall/reinstall, and hard reset fresh install. All no dice.
Anybody else having issues?
Hello everyone.
I've just realized that after making a video if I delete it and shoot another one the little preview on the file shows the previous and deleted video,it does not match,so I have to go through all the videos in order for me to see the one I want to send or watch.
Has anyone had this issue?
Thanks so much.
Yep
Yep
having same issues with my streak....must have something to do with Album Art Caching....need to write an app for this...
Thank you very much for your reply.I thought I was the only one experiencing this.
Anybody else?
Last night I called Dell and they are gonna send me a new device, since this one is not even a week old.
Yeah me too.. a bit annoying but I got over it pretty quickly.
We all should report this,Dell needs to know, the more the better.
Did you find an app for this? any workaround?
Thanks.
Little workaround
I think I have just found a little workaround to solve this issue.I put my videos on a different folder on my computer, this is what I did after that:
-Go to sdcard (use Astro,Linda, windows file explorer will work too)then go to DCIM,you will see two folders camera and .thumbnails (just delete this one only)
Once you have deleted that one put the videos back on the camera folder, then take a look at the gallery on your streak, now the videos should be showing the real preview.
If you delete one of the videos the issue will be back and you will have to start the process over. After messing a little bit more with this folder I can see it does work.So if you come across the same bug give it a shot.
just initiate a new media scan..
Ok...I know it sounds very stupid specially after trying so many steps, but how can I do that....I'm sure I'm missing something.
Thanks.

Your phone should do a media scan when you restart, if that doesn't clear up the problem you can try an app like Rescan Media. It forces a media rescan without a reboot. There are others, that was the first I found.
Ok...I think I got it this time.Maybe it is one of the apps that do not autostart when I turn on the device,I use autostarts to disable apps and I must have disabled something that was not supossed to be off.
Thanks.
