Pocket IE closes while trying to browse... - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

Anyone have this problem? I'm using the 8525 and haven't installed anything recently that I can remember or would cause PIE to just close. It was random for a while but it's gotten worse and pretty much happens all the time now.
If anyone has any ideas as to why, I'd love to hear them!
TIA!

I had the same problem but it went away when I cleared PIE cache and cookies. Hope it works for you too.

Ahhh, thanks. I had been clearing the temp internet files and history but totally forgot about the cookies. I think that did the trick. It's behaving more nicely now.
Thanks!

In my when I applied the hack to store temporary internet files to the storage card it started to behave like this i.e closing down by itself but all became ok after I removed the hack
Regards

Hmmm... thanks, that's something to keep in mind. I did this hack. If it starts back up, I'll have to remove the hack.

Okay, PIE is still crashing so I want to reverse the "cache, etc on storage card" hack, but I don't remember the original settings.
Is it just \Windows\Cache, \Windows\Cookies\, and \Windows\Temp Internet Files?
TIA!

Well in my case IE seems to be saving the cache files at:
\windows\profiles\guest\content.IE5\

Pocket Internet Explorer Auto Close

Has anybody experienced this? When I open a link from a email, it launches the PIE and downloads the webpage. Once it's finished downloading, the PIE just shut down. Only a softreset can recover this......
Anyone has the same problem and has this been solved?
Thanks a lot for reading.
Cheers,
I had the same prob. It seems to be a memory issue. Try to clean your memory with memmaid, when it happens, and it will work fine again!
i have this problem too.
i'll try memmaid now and see how it works.
EDIT: no i decided against using Memmaid. i don't think i like it. Any other solution to the problem?
delete your internet cache regularly, some sites are massive and can really suck your memory resources.
pocket hackmaster may also help not that i use it, but read about others that do.

Maybe this is the case:
"The problem is that you moved the IE cache to your storage card. Unfortunately people have discovered that doing that causes this problem. If you clear the cache in IE it will help for a little while, but the solution is to move the cache back to the device."

That's I think is absolutely RIGHT...I have not moved the cache to the SD card and no problem there after........

Opera always crashing?

Hey guys!
Something strange is appening on my HD.
When I run Opera, from the TF3D tab, it crashes...
I Run it, and the is just crash. When I press the cross, it is not in the Task Manager anymore, but I can't run it again, so I've to Soft Reset it...
bump. please help me!
bump 2? I really need your help
not enough info to help
what rom you running?
what tweaks you performed?
what other apps you have installed?
have you hard reset and tried opera before you install anything else?
sorry but your question is like saying "my car dont work"
I'm running the default ROM.
The only tweaks i've perfomed were the HD Tweak and Advanced configuration
I've some games, Wireless Monitors, and when the problem started I installed Opera 9.5 but neither Opera 9.5, neither the default Opera run well...
I' haven't try to hardreset my phone, but when I bought it, before install any app it was well.
Maybe the problem could be the low free space i've on the Read Only memory?

wouldnt of thought so, but a fix to try is to put your temp internet files onto the sdcard instead... you have emptied the cache yes?
as you didnt have a problem before (when it was new) i would try rolling back to the origional opera, moving the temp files to sd card and checking through the tweaks youve done with hdtweak and advance config (both pretty powerful apps and can balls it up if you dont know what u r doing
I've had very careful using HD Tweak and Advanced Configuration. I'll try that cache thing.
Btw, there isn't any option instead of soft reset the HD, for run opera again? I can't close it, because its not on Task Manager...
Did you install FlashLite3 ?
Deinstall it and check again.
No, I don't have it installed.
It could be the ATI driver?
Now I can't even open the browser. It is crashing when Loading...
Well? Any ideia guys?
I have a similar problem. Mine crashes often and it allso disapears from the task manager often and can't be started again til I softreset.
I allso have the default ROM, original browser version, no Flash installed but some cosmetic tweaks like extra TF3D-tabs, TF3D-tweaks etc.

Install Advanced Config. Go to Locations and change default storage location to location you prefer
possibility...
Opera was always crashing for me too. Once I get a new device I always overload on applications, just to see what works, then I restore the factory settings. Once I restored, Opera worked without crashing! I am not saying that another application was the cause, but restoring the device somehow fixed Opera.
Well, I was trying to avoid Hard Reset. Any other ideia?
bump? Come on people

i had the same issue a couple days ago. i only found one solution to it on my nexus, and its odd. apparently when you go into settings, applications, application settings, you dont have access to the maps cache like on the g1. so i found another way. only through an app called quick system info was i able to access the application info. there i pressed an uninstall update button, then came back and cleared data. since then its been working fine. i still dont get what update i uninstalled because its the same exact maps i had before.
wow thanks hah that worked

i know, sometimes you find strange solutions to strange problems!

Clock app crash? It's actually a ring tone bug!

Every time I open the clock app and try to set an alarm the app crashes. It freezes and the just says "Clock has stopped". I´ve tried to clear cache and restarted the phone twice, still doesn't work.
Anyone else having the same problem and have a solution for it?
Thanks!

Haven't used TiBa at all, it is Titanium back up you're talking about, right?

Have you tried to delete cache + Dalvik (I don't know how to do this if not rooted, so you have to ask somebody if you don't know how too) ?

Nope, have not tried that! I'm having some other problems with my phone right now (smearing) and will probably go and try to change the phone.
Still very thankful if anyone has any tips on how solve this problem!
same problem here
and i surely don't want to wipe
got any solution?
Not a solution but it is worth cleaning all the alarms setup (if there are any).
Going to settings/More/Date and Time and changing the auto time on/off, time zone on/off and the other settings. I.e. just changing everything to manual or to auto dependant on your current settings to see if that helps reset something.
Worth a try before a reset at least.
Battery out for a min and restart too maybe?
I did a factory reset a couple of hours ago. When I first started the clock app worked like a charm, and I thought everything was back to normal. BUT!
When I changed the ringt one to one of my mp3s on the phone (selecting via settings and then ES File Explorer) the clock problem started again! When I try to change ring tone again back to one of Androids, the green android-guy under ring tone, the phone stops and a pop up that says "The process android.process.media has been stopped" shows up.
I have no idea how to "undo" it again. Does anyone have any suggestions of what to do? Just re-installed like 80 apps and set my phone back to normal again, and changing my ring tone was like the last thing, and that just F'ed everything up.
It doesn't bother me That much since I can use another ring tone and set my alarms with the "AlarmClock Plus"-app. But it's still anyoing as hell and I would really like to solve it!

I tried that, but it didn't help. Maybe you got some new ideas with the new info in my post above?
***UPDATE***
Got it to work by having my Mp3-song selected as ring tone, and then move it to another folder. Both the clock and the ring tone-changer works fine now.
Now I just need to come up with a way to ge my ring tone back
EDIT: I solved it by making my Mp3-file into a Wav-file. Don't know if it's just that file or all Mp3-files. Cased closed for my problem at least, woho!

This trick of moving the bad ringtones to another folder worked and saved me tons of work if I had to factory reset the thing. One small addendum, after moving the files I had to clear data and cache for the clock app before it allowed me to create or edit an alarm again.

This part didn't work for me. My own ringtones were .ogg files and even when I converted them to .wav files, both the clock app and the android ringtone selector kept crashing. I set my own ringtones using the ES File Explorer too, maybe, just maybe something went wrong there or maybe the files were simply too big in size. I don't know.
However, I did solve my problem in the following way:
1) having root access is necessary for this method to work
2) using a root-enabled file explorer or using a root-enabled terminal to copy your own ringtones to /system/media/audio/ringtones, /system/media/audio/notifications or /system/media/audio/alarms respectively.
3) chmod 644 for these new files (not sure if this is really needed, but I guess it can't hurt)
4) reboot the phone (absolutely necessary as apparently it loads all available sound files at boot time only)
5) set your ringtones for any apps using the android ringtone selector. Your own ringtones should now appear in this list.

Wow thanks that worked. ... nice...!!!! Thanks +1
I had the same issues. In my opinion "ES Browser" was the reason for this bug. To fix it, i removed "media storage"-app. After a few reboots all libraries (Pictures, Music...) got filled again.
Clock and ringtone now working again.
I Know its an old thread, but i was having trouble with my Galaxy s6 clock.
I solved the Problem by changing the theme. Propably it will work for you aswell

Background apps closing by themselves

Hi everyone,
this problem is following me in every rom I try!
CM, Stock, 5.1.1, 5.0.1, it does'nt matter, in every rom I face this problem....
you see, music is playing in background and some other apps like Hotspot shield are running in background at the same time... as soon as i open firefox, music player completely shuts off and so does hotspot shield...
in every rom I face this problem so now I'm starting to think maybe its a hardware issue... could it be a hardware issue?
anyone with the same issue?
I have Flyme installed on my phone and its a good rom and I dont want to change it, even if I change it im sure the problem with come to me again in other roms, so help me fix this
Android closes apps when it is low on memory (RAM).
I don't think its related to that, I have plenty of ram when that happens, besides, closing all background apps at once?
and why does this always happen when I open a web browser?

I just told you in my previous reply.
Maybe that web browser uses all the memory.
Or does it happen with every web browser?

I don't have alot of apps running in background, 2GB of RAM and still its not enough for a web browser and a music player beside 5 or 6 other apps that each of 'em need 60 to 70mb of RAM? That's strange
I tried 3 or 4 different web browsers, Chrome, Stock web browser, Firefox, and some other browsers... all the same
This guy also has the same problem:
HTML:

Maybe one of your apps causes the issues. After all, you changed several ROMs (clean wiped I assume) and the only constant would be the user apps you always install/restore after a flash.

Well, I don't use any battery monitoring or task managing app, but good point, let me check my apps again.
Nope, checked again, no suspicious app... non that I think have something to do with this problem

Go one by one and install and uninstall apps, while repeatedly trying to run the ones you stated in your first post. If there is an app causing that problem, just try doing some old fashioned process of elimination.

Will do, and if I found out that an app is causing the problem I would not just gonna go the fashioned way of elimination! I'm Gonna leave some mean mean comments for it's developer too!
