Dont want to use KINOMA to open pics, how to disable?!?!?!? - Palm Treo Pro

I dont recall activating KINOMA PLAYER to open or view my pics. I dont want to use that program because i cant assign a pic to the background. I used to be able to just open a pic and assign it to whatever i wanted and i could adjust the brightness etc, etc. Can someone please help!!!

i just uninstalled it
if you want to watch youtube videos on it download the youtube app by going to m.youtube.com you dont need that client
and everything else just goes through the default clients after its unintalled, videos play in WMP and pictures come up in that stock screen

I used Resco file explorer to solve this prob (I had the same thing happening). Open Resco file explorer, navigate to a pic file (usually .jpg), tap and hold, choose "open with" and then select the program you want. Check the box "always use this program" and you are set.

Is there away to do this manually without having to download a application?

I am sure there is. You would have to edit the registry. However, I have no clue what key to edit, so cannot help you further. Sorry.

The new version allows you to choose which file associations you want - so the problem has been solved. Thanks Kinoma!

I was thanking them because the new version allows you to change associations. That's obviously a good thing and I'm glad they did it.
People complained and they listened, isn't that how it's supposed to
work?

I just did the same. I cant even get my video to play right. Anyone have any advise? Not looking to purchase this. Downloaded a FLV file that wont play and no audio. I'll stick with windows player....

Go into "Get Apps" and download "Advanced Settings." From there you can easily change your file associations.

YouTube HQ Hack

Lurker turned poster.
On the Motorola Droid, there was a hack by "xeudoxus" which allowed for the YouTube app to default to High Quality playback.
Any idea if this will work on the Nexus One? I presume not since that is an Motorola phone, and this is HTC. If not, has anyone ported that over to work on the Nexus?
Thanks in advance.
(P.S. apologies if this is the wrong section. I started to make this post under "Themes and Apps," but also didn't seem right.)
I was just about to post this same topic. I'm going to try the Motorola hack today to see if it works. If not, I'd very much like to see this added to the Nexus One. The quality of YouTube videos over 3G is almost unwatchable on such a high res display.
absolutely'd love it....big case of beer to the dev that does this!
Iphone had a similar hack........loved it: 'fooled' youtube, or any app, into thinking it was on wifi
isn't the option built-in?
I always watch HQ on 3G when I want. I just click on menu, more, and then the option "play High Quality".
Works for me just fine. I don't know if there is a hack to make it default though.

Correct. Just seeing if there was a hack made for the Nexus One. The one for the Droid includes a 2.1 firmware version, but I'm unsure.
The slight disadvantage, beyond the button clicks, to that procedure is that the clip then has to rebuffer for the HQ version. At least, in my experience, anyway.
A few clips and a couple extra seconds of buffer time aren't huge things. Would just be nice to have the HQ version be default

It does as of five minutes ago(Double checked before posting). As quoted above tap the Menu key, More, Watch in High Quality.
Disruptive to have to do it with each video tho....would like it at least as a settings default option

I was referring it to a global option and not for each video you watch I knew about that but for the older youtube apps on android it was a global option.
On WiFi it defaults to high quality.

I attempted to use this this morning without much success. I believe the error had something to do with the system still being odex'd; I'm at work right now, otherwise I'd attempt again to say for sure. I'm currently running CyanoMod as my rom if that makes any difference.
Thanks for the post, though, and keep up the good work.

in the youtube app. go to settings and more. Then it says watch in high quality.
That i know, but if it has the HQ hack, can't you set HQ as default?
Here is how you hack YouTube to default into HQ:
1. Put the youtube.apk on your sdcard.
2. Get Root Explorer from the Market.
3. Using Root Explorer, navigate to the sdcard folder and long press on the youtube.apk and click "Move"
4. Navigate to the /system/app folder
5. Click the button up top that says "Remount as R/W"
6. Click the button on the bottom that says "Paste" then confirm overwrite.
7. Now you need to set the permissions on that file: Long press on the youtube.apk and click Permissions. Check User Read and Write, Group Read, and Others Read. Uncheck everything else and click Ok.
7. Click the button up top that says "Remount as R/O"
8. Reboot, you're done

Open youtube video in high quality

Hi, the galaxy s has a beautiful screen and a powerful graphic card. It will be a waste if viewing video in normal or lower quality. However, when loading from youtube, the default video mode is normal quality, and it's quite troublesome to change the mode every time. Anyone knows the way to change the default to high quality?
Sent from my GT-I9000
download this youtube addon and install it on your phone.
it will enable a "HQ" button next to the play/pause buttons in the lower right corner of the display.
i think this also enables playing videos in HQ everytime you start playing a video, but I can't test this since I'm waiting for a replacement SGS.
regards
Wish program do you use to open this file "YouTubeHD.apk"? Can`t do it when i use winzip.

If you google youtubehd.apk you'll see a lot of results that suggest people are ripping the EVO 4G's youtube app and putting it on their phones. I'm not the original poster, but will assume that's where this is from before I hear otherwise.
I wish I'd thought of ripping the various apps off my EVO 4G before returning it to Sprint for a refund.

Thank you for this.
It looks like an official app.
Why do not google update this like the other apps?
it doesn't work for me.. it won't let me open saying it's not an authorized app from market..or something
here :
YouTube v1.6.19e.apk woks great on my desire & Galaxy s

thanks for the reply, but i'm getting the same message.
when i try to launch the file using ASTRO, it says install blocked, and says for security reasons, its set to block installation of apps not sourced in market..
Go to settings then applications -then click unknown sources, should work after that
ahhh i dont see unknown sources.. whats happening!!
sorry to be a bother
Well there is the HD button and it's defaulted on HD in JP3 firmware.. That suggest it will be so in the future official release too.

What phone do you have? The Captivate has had that removed from it. You can still install with adb or a sideloader app, I believe.
Just updated the firmware - and still this is needed. Thank you again!
However, it seems to default to normal quality, when on 3g network. I wish I could force it to hd/hq all the time?

Help with movies! Making me very mad!

i cant seem to get any of my movies to play on my hd2, i dont have the original memory card, but i made a mulitmedia folder and put a movie folder and a video folder in it, neither one of them work with getting my movies to play, i have tried putting them in several places, and its making me very angry that i cant put movies on my phone, id really appreciate some help.
What format is the movie? This might help.
Click on the link to my sig. Scroll down the first post until you see "FREE". Download the TCPMP cab and use that to play your movies. Let me know if it works.
i downloaded the cab, but when i opened the app, it forze, so i restarted the device, and now it as soon as i open it, it says an error has occured and the app will now close, any help here?

Yeah sometimes it is the site and not the device. Some sites don't have it set up so mobile devices can veiw the image online, they make you download it. I know it is crappy but hey atleast you do get to veiw it. I will see if I can't help uou find a work around for it. This might help too. Go to the little arrow icon at the bottom right hand corner of the Opera browser and toch on it. A menu will come up touch on I think it says settings and check all the options there. I forget wich one it is but one of the options lets you choose to browse as a mobile device or PC. Check PC and see if that helps.

FILEDASH

Hi. I have a question about transferring files using the FILEDASH option built into the phone. When I go to the site, I pop up that "Receiving files from OnePlus 6T. If your browser does not support downloading, try to use another one." Of course, I can download any file, but having 100 of them I would have to click each download icon separately and it's terribly tiring. I will add that I tried Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. Do you know any program for this? Possibly which browser will not have this problem? Thank you very much.
