Subject: Developers phone
I was wondering when you guys will be offering the nexus one for purchase for developers? I was just about to order two of these when you guys ran out/stopped selling.I am a developer and really want this phone,I noticed you said that you will be making them available to devs i was just wondering when.
This is my first post so i had to remove the links but this reply is 100% real!
?huh?
10char
So since the Nexus Ones will now be for "developers" will they have the special bootloader that can be re-Locked?
Just wondering
I wonder how much they're going to be charging, or if they'll sell accessories too!
I just hope they can drop the price tag a little bit. Even the later phones just came out are cheaper than N1.
Also, fix the wifi sleep bug. That's all what I want to ask for.
well... I bought a developer license and what they are selling this very moment is the "Android Developer Phone 2" which runs Android 1.6 has a 500something mhz cpu and like a 3.x" screen. Not very exciting.
I hope the august thing isn't this phone... on the other hand.. its cheaper and completely carrier independent.
Frankly, I'd see the Dev 3 will be HTC Vanguard, which has advanced 3G (3.75G) and slide-out keyboard.
If nothing else, I'd like to buy another Nexus One to get a special developer edition back cover.

Download spare parts and change the wifi sleep policy. That did the trick for me.
Damn, was counting the minutes to the sale and ...
I'm not from the US, but was planning to get one online and shipped to my aramex box in the US. This is my first purchase online and so in all earnest I created registered with bestbuy.
I know how to get the "Shipping address" filed in. The trouble is when I come to the credit card details.
At the point of country, there is a drop down, but the only item in the drop down list is USA!!!
Their FAQ's list:
Can I order the Nexus S from a non-U.S. location and have it shipped to an address in the United States?
Yes, but keep in mind that all Best Buy purchases are intended for use in the U.S. only.

Forget the intention, but how do I order from a non-U.S location if the site does not permit me to enter the card details? :-s
Would appreciate any help
It doesn't go on sale for another 30min, so not sure yet
First: As far as i know they only accept US-Cards and Paypal.
But cant tell that for sure.
Second: I suppose, they will cancel your order. Correct me, if i am wrong, but amarex is a freight forwarder, isnt it?
I have the same problem. I will ship it to my friend's place who will bring me the phone on 23rd. I watched BB site, and it tells you to enter some address in Houston if you have international shipping address. Will see in 30 minutes what happens
kabumm ,
Not sure if they are freight forwarders, but, I live in Kuwait and here, Aramex offers a service that allows us to have a US post box.
When my friends buy from the US, they give the Post Box address and the guys from whom they order post it to this post box.
Aramex for their part regularly checks the postbox and anything found in their is delivered to the owner of the box in Kuwait.
About 15 minutes more ... will wait and see!

I am considering using the same method to order my nexus s.
please let us know once you succeed.
Best way - CALL THEM.
+1-281-742-5268
I'm from Singapore and I ordered it thru the phone.
They WILL need a US registered phone number though and a US mailing address.
I shipped it to a colleague's place there.
One option is to apply for those call forwarding services which gives you a US number, either toll free or non.

hey i just sold my old mt3g using xdas trade in service i have never used anything like this before and i was wondering how reliable the service is because ive seen horrible reviews for places like usell.com. i used gazelle.com becasuse they had a slightly lower offer for my device but it had a better rating and shipping. ive already filled out all the info and there supposed to be sending a box with free shipping as we speek so i was just wondering if any of yall used this before i ship off my phone.
this is the email they sent me.
Hi Riley,
Thanks for choosing Gazelle. Now that you've told us what you have, we're counting on you to send your HTC T-Mobile myTouch 3G.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
Send your HTC T-Mobile myTouch 3G to us in the postage-paid box you'll be receiving from us. Depending on postal delivery time this can take up to 8 days. Please remember to use plenty of packing material to keep everything safe. Just pack and mail the package. That's it. You can find your closest USPS location here.
If you have your own box and want to send your HTC T-Mobile myTouch 3G right away, that's no problem. We've attached a prepaid shipping label for you to print out.
We'll email you as soon as we receive your HTC T-Mobile myTouch 3G to let you know it arrived safe and sound.
Does your phone have a SIM Card? If so, don't forget to remove it before sending it in. If your phone does not have a SIM Card, it's very important for you to cancel your service. If we receive your phone and it has an active account this will lower the value of your offer.
Remember, you can check the status of your item at any time.

---------- PACKING TIPS -----------
Keep those items safe!
When it comes to protective padding, make sure you take care with your fragile electronics. For large items like computers or displays, we recommend plenty of bubble wrap and a sturdy box.
For smaller items like phones and MP3 Players wrapping them up in newspaper works just as well as Styrofoam peanuts and is way better for the environment.
After you seal your box up, give it a quick shake and make sure nothing rattles.
To ensure a smooth and speedy journey through our receiving and inspection process, please include your Packing Slip in the box you send to us. For more helpful tips, check out our HELP section.

Would you have received more via Ebay or Web Forum? I'm not sure what the phone sells for used, but would imagine so. The transaction seemed to go smooth, which might be the incentive rather than dealing with other resources.
a couple sights i saw it go for 60$ but they had poor customer service reveiws and were unreliable and they would only give you prepaid gift cards.
sorry to bump my own thread again the check came today i am now 46$ richer and im on the way to the bank now!
2 months ago I've bought (by my friend from CA) Iconia A501 from frys.com. It cost me +/- $500. I was really surprised that it had a simlock for such amount of money. So my question is: Is there any chance that any of You AT&T users can do me a favour and ask in any AT&T place/shop/stand how can I take the simlock down to unlock the tab? I tried via AT&T website but to ask a question I need to be an AT&T user, cause when going through this all "contact us" stuff in the end it asks to register my account, but I can't since it doesn't work for me (I need some wireless number which I don't have) :/ I've got their simcard (it was inside the tab), but I don't use it in Poland. Any help would be appreciated.
Try This
Here is the text from a user who managed to get his tab unlocked through Acer.
From: http://www.amazon.com/Acer-A501-10S16u-10-1-Inch-Aluminum-Metallic/dp/B004UR160C
Hi All. I get lots of emails about how I unlocked the tablet.
I didn't do anything special. I simply told them that I'm kinda frustrated because the specifications in amazon do not mention anything about the tablet being locked. I didn't call anybody. I just wrote them an email.
My unlock code code is 7469220956651237 but I don't think it would work for you. Each tablet's unlock code is different. The unlock code is tied to your IMEI number.
This is what I did and I recommend the same for you to do:
1. Log into Acer.com and get yourself a username and password and register your product.
2. DO NOT call them. DO NOT chat with them. Write them an email and wait for the response.
3. The first response will be "sorry. You have limited liability. Please go to AT&T".
4. Very diplomatically, ask for your case to be escalated to a manager. The first line of customer service representatives always tries to get rid of you.
5. Once your email is escalated, very politely and diplomatically explain your situation and the fact that Amazon's description does not mention anything about the tablet being locked to AT&T. Include things like "you are very happy with Acer products and "BS" like that. Butter them up as much as you can! Make sure to send in your serial number and your IMEI with your email. The unlock code would be for your particular IMEI. My code will not work for you and yours will not work for me.
6. Hope and pray that they will send you an unlock code. It took them 2 days to answer me back.
7. If all of that fails, write to [email protected] and send them your IMEI and see if they can generate an unlock code for you. They will charge around 30USD. Make sure you pay with PayPal so in case they do not generate the correct code for you, you can get your money through PayPal.

Make sure you include your serial number and IMEI code in every mail. Maybe, you will get lucky like that person did. Hope it helps you.
Or buy "pay as you go" plan and then request a un-lock code...

No, the issue, is ATT. They want you to get locked into a data plan, and unfortunately, ATT is only in the US. This does nothing for people outside the US.
But, the fact, is that all the re-sellers in the States, were telling people, you didn't have to get a data plan, and that the tab was "sim unlocked".
And some buyers, just didn't know exactly what they were buying, as the minimum wage floor clerks, didn't know any better.
So now, they have these tabs, worldwide, and users can't get them unlocked, although ATT and Acer can do so.
A fine mess ATT and Acer created.
I would say, be very persistent, and if you press the issue, they will eventually give you the unlock code.
YET AGAIN, You helped me Moscow. I just wrote really reaaallyyy nice, pinkish with some smiling sun - email. Blue skye, clouds, happy faces. Hope it helps.
Need some help over here
"Thank you for contacting Acer America. My name is Ranju, badge number GWSI821. I would be happy to assist you.
As per our records your tablet is covered under standard limited warranty.
After reviewing your email, I understand that you would like to obtain unlock code for the tablet.
Please be informed that the A501 was designed to work with a specific carrier (in US or Canada). We do not provide unlock codes for the A501 at this time to work with any carrier. In the United States AT&T is currently the only carrier available for the A501. In Canada Rogers Network is the currently the only carrier available for the A501.
For further clarifications please feel free to visit our web site http://support.acer.com
Thank you for contacting Acer.
Have a great day!
Respectfully,
Acer America"
Too bad that on acer.com nor frys.com is written that the tab is locked for AT&T.

Well, like the one guy did, as he received a similar response, escalate it to a manager. You only contacted the lower level people, and that response is typical.
Keep pushing the matter up the ladder
Be sure to keep your cool, and be nice and political Eventually you will win.
Make sure you tell them you live in Poland, and have no ATT network. and always supply your serial number and IMEI number with every mail.
Point out the fact that nowhere was it written that the tab is locked to ATT.
Ok let us see what they will respond now. It's really hard to keep myself calm, but it's for greater good

with Acer America, I finally found someone kind enough to reply to me:
"Thank you for contacting Acer America. We have forwarded your request to AT&T. Someone from AT&T should email you soon with an unlock code. Please allow 5-6 business days. I hope this is helpful."
so HOPEFULLY after those days I will recieve the long awaited unlock code.
This doesn't have anything to do with unlocking, but as a side note:
I bought my A501 here in New Zealand and the version they sell here is not sim locked, I can use any carrier that I like. As far as I know the Australian version is probably the same.

Dude, I really Really hope they come through on this. Too many people bought these things (ATT version) not knowing they were locked to the network.

Yeah, all the international models are unlocked. The issue, was that Acer developed specific models of the 501, that were locked to the ATT network in the States. Also, at the same time, Retailers in the States were selling the unlocked version.
The problem, was that many retailers were selling the "locked" version, without telling the buyers. Hey, the locked versions were cheaper than the unlocked versions, and if you didn;t know the difference, you would buy the cheaper one. And I think also, the retailers, didn;t know also (or they just wanted to make a sale).
Acer, and ATT, can check the originating IP of a person, and verify if indeed they live in a particular country. I can verify Edelprime lives in Poland, but hey, who am I but just a lowley "fry cook".

Hey there.
I can give you a perspective from a Canadian a501 user.
I am on Bell mobility (similar as at&t I think)
I had bought this used and knew it was locked. I was more in it for the 4g than the space on the one I got on boxing day (64gb wifi for 400).
Anyway after searching for any info on unlocking I got the same info from rogers. Cannot unlock and the tab is still under contract. Meh fine. So I bought an a501 that hasn't been fully paid to rogers and its still locked.
Unhappy with this I contacted the seller. The (insert explicit word here) said no then proceeded to ignore my calls.
So I thought fine. Guess I'm stuck with a 16gb a501 that I cannot use via 4g.
That same day I saw that there was an ebayer (in Montreal) who could provide (sell) me an unlock code. After a day and talking to a bud who is on rogers he had an uncle who would have loved this tab. However I wanted to try and unlock this first from the eBay guy.
Needless to say it is now unlocked.
My suggestion would be to see if someone on eBay can sell you a code (maybe the same guy, not sure). Cost me 25 to the code.
The time I had already spent trying to unlock in the first place compared to spending that 25... lets say that its worth it.
He emailed me the code a day and a half later (took time to generate the damn code).
Good luck and hope you can get it unlocked!

Needless to say, I am just utterly happy for you all.
I didn't do anything. Just a person who offers advice, and maybe, it's good stuff.
Ordio, Edenprime, you 2 showed that things can happen, and you did what it took to make it happen.
Will it work for everybody, I don't know. But I tell you, you 2 people, made my day.
I' didn't do anything. It was all you....
For the record the sales people at BEST BUY .. Know what they are selling. they are misleading on nearly everything they sell. those guys/girls have quota requirements to keep there sales positions. The company gets Financial gain from at&t for selling devices locked to there network.. I know this to be true and real due to a close friend that works for Best Buy. as a Regional Manager. He says Best Buy IS Ruthless and could really care less about anything but there bottom line. Thou i did get his discount on my tablet Giggles.

Hello!
First that nothing desire to clarify that I am speaking Hispanic, so the texts here are with the help of BabelFish.
A week ago I purchased an Acer Iconia A501, 4 G, but locked to AT & T.
I was already in contact with Acer, but they tell me that they are the guarantee of 90 days, etc.
After continue reading I see that I have to request assistance to a supervisor or higher level.
So that will do, and will see as follows the topic.
I see that "Edenprime" says "(Sent_from_my_A501_using_Alexandra_III_" I wonder if you have changed the Rom being blocked by AT & T, or if it was after you receive your unlock code.
Another query, the e-mail communication with Acer may be these:

From already thank you very much.
Anybody tried submitting the rebate online?
I tried to submit mine but after I entered the IMEI and WIFI Mac Address (from Note 4), it says my IMEI and WIFI Mac address were invalid.
Never thought this will be a hard one
For anyone who's having the same experience. Will have to do a snail mail instead of online submission (see below).
8. Why am I getting the message “IMEI/HEX MEID# invalid?”
Check that you have entered each digit of the IMEI or HEX MEID correctly. Please note,
you may also need to remove the ‘0x’ from the “HEX MEID” at the beginning of the
number before entering. If you continue to receive an invalid IMEI/HEX MEID message
and believe you have a valid offer claim, you can mail in you offer claim with the Official
Offer Claim Form at the bottom of the Terms and Conditions.
Same issue here. Reatttempted like 10 times. No go.
How did you two get the Note 4 before release date? It is an international version? Maybe because the promotion is only for the USA and must be be preordered via a carrier buying an international version that is not from a carrier is not a valid purchase.
It's a US version. I got mine from T-Mobile.

Sweet
Kicking Deuce on the Beast, Note 3
I was browsing in some other forum and saw people having the same issue. One guy suggested to wait on 10/17 since this is the official release date of GN4. His logic might be that the rebate page hasn't been updated with all the Note 4 IMEI and MAC values. It makes sense so I'll wait.
So what does the "promotion/rebate" deal consist of, if I may ask?

Can someone offer me some help? I just preordered my Note 4 at a US T-Mobile store today and am wondering where I am supposed to find the IMEI or HEX MEID since I don't yet have the phone. Is it supposed to show on the receipt because mine does not. I have the trade-in information, but without the actual Note 4 in my hands, I know no way of completing the online forms.
Am I missing something?

Same here. I have been trying since Monday. Hopefully they fix this thing soon.
ok, figured this out.....
I got my box out and compared the hex id to the one in the phone. The hex id had one more number in front and the imei had one more number on the rear. So, I used the one on the box and it accepted it.
